On July 1 st 2014, the province of Ontario introduced a program of mandatory occupational health and safety (OHS) awareness training. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of this program on worker level self-reported OHS awareness and empowerment to participate in injury prevention activities in Ontario, compared to the province of British Columbia (BC) where no similar program was introduced. We collected information on OHS awareness and empowerment, as well as participation in OHS training from samples of workers in Ontario and BC on four occasions. The first survey was conducted between May and June 2014 (prior to the introduction of mandatory training); then additional surveys were completed in February/March 2015, September/October 2015, and November/December 2017. For each cross-sectional sample we recruited over 1800 respondents, with a total sample of over 7500 respondents (63% from Ontario) across all time points. Logistic regression models were used to examine a time by province interaction in each outcome, after adjusting for a variety of workplace and worker characteristics. After the introduction of mandatory awareness training respondents in Ontario were almost twice as likely to participate in training compared to respondents in BC. However, we observed no difference in trends over time (pre-post introduction of mandatory training) in levels of adequate awareness or empowerment between Ontario and BC. Respondents in Ontario had higher levels of adequate OHS awareness than respondents in BC at all time points (both before and after the introduction of mandatory awareness training). No differences were present between Ontario and BC in relation to empowerment.Taken together, these results suggest that the introduction of mandatory awareness training in Ontario was associated with greater training participation. However, no differences in levels of adequate awareness or empowerment were observed between Ontario respondents compared to BC respondents.

The present study aimed to obtain a profile of the anger in students of the degree in psychology of three universities participating in the Consortium of Mexican Universities (CUMex), through a descriptive-comparative study. 300 students participated in the bachelor's degree in psychology. The research design was non-experimental cross-sectional. Descriptive statistical analyzes of the total sample were carried out, as well as the analysis of variance of a single classification to know if there were significant differences in the anger among the students of the three universities. The results show that in general, the participating population of the three universities is within an average range in this emotion. Regarding the results of the descriptive statistical analysis of the total sample and an analysis of variance of a single classification, statistically significant differences were observed when comparing the three universities, and these differences were found between Guadalajara and Zacatecas; although on average, the students of the three universities score within a normal range of anger. It is possible that these results are natural in students of psychology, which favors the profile of training and its future professional practice

The purpose of the current study was to assess and to compare the hydrodynamics of the first and second gliding positions of the breaststroke underwater stroke used after starts and turns, considering drag force (D), drag coefficient (CD) and cross-sectional area (S). Twelve national-level swimmers were tested (6 males and 6 females, respectively 18.2 ± 4.0 and 17.3 ± 3.0 years old). Hydrodynamic parameters were assessed through inverse dynamics from the velocity to time curve characteristic of the underwater armstroke of the breaststroke technique. The results allow us to conclude that, for the same gliding velocities (1.37 ± 0.124 m/s), D and the swimmers’ S and CD values obtained for the first gliding position are significantly lower than the corresponding values obtained for the second gliding position of the breaststroke underwater stroke (31.67 ± 6.44 N vs. 46.25 ± 7.22 N; 740.42 ± 101.89 cm2 vs. 784.25 ± 99.62 cm2 and 0.458 ± 0.076 vs. 0.664 ± 0.234, respectively). These differences observed for the total sample were not evident for each one of the gender’s subgroups.
