Abstract This study was conducted to improve the quality of oocytes in old-female rats by using pregnant mare serum gonadotrophin (PMSG). Female rats at productive age were used as a control.  The experimental rats were injected with 4 doses of PMSG i.e., 0, 2.5, 5.0, and 10 IU PMSG. After 2 weeks of acclimation to the experimantal condition, the experimental rats were injected with PGF2α at a dose of 25µg/g BW two times with 2 days interval to synchronize estrous cycle. PMSG injections were conducted at the same time with the second PGF2α injection.  After PMSG injection, the experimental rats were divided into two groups rats, i.e., rats without mating for masurement of oocyte qualities and rats mated for measurement of offspring qualities.  Therefore, 16 experimental rats from each age group were sacrifized for maeasurement of oocyte qualities.  The other 16 experimental rats for each age group were mated for measurement of offspring qualities. Parameters measured were hematological profile, uterine and ovarian weights, the qualities of oocytes, the qualities of the offsspring born by using swimming test and rat maze test. The collected data were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan test with a 95% confidence level. The data were analyzed using SSPS. The results showed that the improvement in the quality of oocytes in old female rats using the PMSG hormone in this study showed an increase in the quality of oocytes in old and productive age rats. The highest number of oocyte quality was found in rats of productive age (3.25) and significantly different (P< 0.05) from the other oocyte qualities. The quality of offspring born to old age and productive age rats injected with PMSG were improved.  It was concluded that the improvement of oocyte quality by using PMSG also improves offspring qualities.

Printed educational materials such as teacher’s handbook may affect the quality of education as much as teachers, curriculum, educational environment, and the other course materials. Perspectives of eighty-two pre-service elementary teachers regarding the activities and songs included in the teacher’s handbook for music course were examined by content analysis for shedding light on the nature of the handbook and for producing knowledge about how an effective teacher’s handbook for music course may be like. Even though the question was deliberately worded to let respondents express their both positive and negative views, the number of respondents who expressed positive views and the frequency of such expressions were considerably lower compared to the negative ones. Inappropriateness for age group and learning outcomes, insufficiency for facilitating learning, requiring hard-to-attain materials, and difficulty of application raised as major concerns for both activates and songs. Additionally, activities were argued to be repetitive and lacking entertainment while songs were criticized for their rhythm, melody, lyrics, quality, and practicability in the classroom.

This study aims to determine the increase in the quality of spermatozoa and testosterone after giving L-carnitine to white rats (Rattus norvegicus). This study was conducted by giving L-carnitine as a treatment for 42 days in white rats with a dose variation of 100 mg/kg bw, 150 mg/kg bw, and 200 mg/kg bw and user controls as a comparison. The variables observed in this study were the quality of spermatozoa, namely: morphology, motility, viability, membrane integrity, and seeing the levels of the hormone testosterone. The research data were processed using a computer statistical program (SPSS 22.0 for Windows) using the One Way Anova test. The results showed that giving high doses of L-carnitine supplements for a long time could cause decreased spermatozoa quality, namely: morphology, motility, viability, membrane integrity and decreased levels of the hormone testosterone.

This study aimed to determine the effect of arak bali on the quality of spermatozoa include morphology, motility, viability, membrane integrity of spermatozoa rat (Rattus norvegicus). The study was conducted in two phases: the first phase of the deployment of questionnaires conducted in five districts in Bali to determine the type and frequency of arak bali consumption and phase II made arak bali giving treatment in experimental animals. This study used 24 male rats (170-200 grams), divided into four groups: one control and three treatments (by arak bali containing 40% alcohol as much as 0.1 and 0.5 mL and 0.1 mL much alcohol synthesis, for 45 days. the results showed that of the five districts in Bali, most people consume arak bali commercial and most of the frequency of consumption of the week more than one bottle (350 mL). the provision of arak bali in experimental animals, degrade the quality (morphology, motility, viability, membrane integrity), the greater the volume given declining spermatozoa quality.

This research aimed to determine the effect of giving Sipatah-patah extract toward the histopathological and femur bone growth of white rat that was ovariectomized. The experimental animals that were used were 12 white rats divided into 4 treatment group with 3 repetitions. K0 was the ovariectomized rat without giving Sipatah-patah extract (ESP); K1, K2 and K3 were ovariectomized rats which were given Sipatah-patah extract with multilevel doses of 500 mg/kg BW, 700 mg/kg BW and 900 mg/kg BW for 30 days. On the 31st day, rats were euthanized using chloroform and os femur that was taken to being made into histological preparation.  There was the decrease in the bones density of the K0 group which is characterized by thinning of trabecular structure, there were lots of osteoclast cells on the edge of the trabecular and lower density of active osteoblasts and passive osteoblasts. The rat of group K1 and K2 showed an improvement on the trabecular structure and lower osteoclast than group K0. The rat of group K3 had a visible improvement of the most congested trabecular structures, cohesive with the most density cell of active osteoblasts than the other groups. The result of this research concluded that the giving of Sipatah-patah extract doses 900 mg/kg BW showed a higher density of trabecular and active osteoblasts than the control group, K1 and K2 on the white rat bones that were ovariectomized.

HIGHLIGHTS1. Obesity increases the risk of comorbidities especially for the pregnancy.2. The study analyzed glycodelin levels and uterine NK cell expression using Rattus norvegicus as animal model.3. uNK cell expression of the obese rats group was higher as the marker of chronic inflammation for obesity.4. Although there was increasing uNK cells in obese rats group, this result was not followed by the level of gycodelin.ABSTRACTObjectives: To prove the existence of differences in glycodelin levels and uterine NK cell expression in obese and non-obese female white rats of Wistar strain (Rattus norvegicus).Materials and Methods: . This study used a randomized post-test only controlled group design. This in vivo study used two groups of female rats (Rattus norvegicus). Group 1 was treated with the high obese diet for eight weeks, and group 2 was not treated with the high obese diet. After eight weeks, the rats were weighed, the proestrus phase was synchronized, and then the rats were terminated. Results: In this study, there was no significant difference in glycodelin levels between the obese and non-obese groups with a p= 0.821 (p >0.05). Significant differences were found in uterine NK cell expression between obese dan non-obese groups with p=0.001 (p <0.05). The correlation test of glycodelin levels and uterine NK cell expression showed insignificant results with a correlation coefficient of 0.120 and p=0.513. This proved that there was no significant correlation between glycodelin levels and uterine NK cell expression. Conclusion: There was no significant difference between glycodelin levels and uterine NK cell expression in obese and non-obese female white rats of Wistar strain (Rattus norvegicus).

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of pomegranate (Punica granatul l) fruit extract for spermatozoa quality including the motility, viability and membrane integrity of spermatozoa. The researchused 20 male white rats  (Rattus norvegicus) with 200-300 gram average body weight. P0 as control was given with CMC Na 0.5%.  P1 used 75 mg/kg BW dose of extract,  P2used 150 mg/kg BW dose of extract,  P3 used 300 mg/kg BW dose of extract. The treatment was given perorally for 14 days. The experiment was used completely random design (CRD). The result of this study was analyzed with ANOVA followed by Tukey Test (p<0.05). The result showed that there was significant effect from therapy on the quality of rats spermatozoa. The difference of spermatozoa’s concentration between first treatment group P1 and control treatment group is not significant, while the treatment other result showed between the second treatment group and the control group P0. A significant difference occurs in the percentage of motility, viability and  membrane integrity. The treatment from P2 group showed the best result in maintaining the quality of rats spermatozoa.

Many alternative contraceptives can be used as needed. The most effective type of contraception is injection contraception because it is relatively safe, effective, simple and inexpensive. Contraceptive users must be selective in choosing contraception because there is no method of contraception that is safe and effective for all acceptors. The side effects of Medroxy Progesterone Acetat injection include bleeding disorders such as amenorrhoea, weight gain, high blood pressure, acne, spotting. Medroxy Progesterone Acetat is a progestin contraceptive regimen that is often used and works long-term. The mechanism of action of Medroxy Progesterone Acetate injection is to inhibit gonadotropin secretion so that it will prevent the maturation of primary follicles in the ovary and also prevent ovulation and cause endometrial depletion. The research design is the post test only control group design. The population in this research  are the white rats species Rattus norvegicus Wistar strain. The samples are taken randomly from all populations that met the following sample criteria: Female rats, Aged 12-14 weeks, having a body weight of 150 - 200 grams. The results showed that Medroxy Progesterone Acetate hormone affects the thickness of the endometrium, and there is a difference in the histological picture of endometrial thickness due to the administration of the Medroxy Progesterone Acetate hormone and without the administration of the Medroxy Progesterone Acetate hormone

During the past investigations of immunoferritin localization of intracellular antigens in ultrathin frozen sections, we found that the degree of negative staining required to delineate u1trastructural details was often too dense for the recognition of ferritin particles. The quality of positive staining of ultrathin frozen sections, on the other hand, has generally been far inferior to that attainable in conventional plastic embedded sections, particularly in the definition of membranes. As we discussed before, a main cause of this difficulty seemed to be the vulnerability of frozen sections to the damaging effects of air-water surface tension at the time of drying of the sections.Indeed, we found that the quality of positive staining is greatly improved when positively stained frozen sections are protected against the effects of surface tension by embedding them in thin layers of mechanically stable materials at the time of drying (unpublished).
