<p>The aim of this research is to determine the potential of rubbish (quantity and quality) as cattle feeding and the heavy metal residues especialy Pb and Hg in beef cattle product (meat and viceral organ) wich is grazing in refusal place “Putri Cempo” Surakarta.<br />The experiment have been carried out at refusal place “Putri Cempo” Surakarta where samples taken for quantity and quality of organic rubbish and beef catlle product for determine of heavy metal residues (Pb and Hg) especialy on meat (biceps femoris), liver, kidney and intestine. <br />The result of this experiment indicated that organic rubbish at refusal place “Putri Cempo” Surakarta on DM basic, since 2002 – 2006 amount of 47,778 – 54,372 thousants ton/year. While nutrient content such as crude protein 10,00-12,79%, extract eter 4,05 – 7,94%, crude fiber 18,42 – 22,20%, and ash 21,73 – 24,33%, respectively. Heavy metal residues on meat, liver, kidney and intestine, Pb at amount of 2,16- 2,68 ppm which is up of the Indonesia National Standart, SNI (2,0 ppm), and Hg at amount of 0,01 -0,02 it is below of SNI (0,03 ppm).<br />It could be concluded that higly potensitial of refusal place “Putri Cempo” Surakarta as catlle grazing. The other than, beef cattle product (meat) were not save for consumption.</p><p>Key words : rubbish, refusal place, plumbum, merkury, cattle</p>

There seach objective was to determine the productivity and nutrient content of Paspalumconjugatum, Brachiariadecumbens, Digitariamilanjiana by buffalo fermented compost. The research was conducted at the Goat Farm Research Station SeiPutih, SubdistrictGalang, LubukPakam, North Sumatra from October 2015 through February 2016. The design used was split plot design (plots divided) with mainplotwas kind of grass A1 (Paspalumconjugatum), A2 (Brachiariadecumbens), A3 (Digitariamilanjiana) and the subplot was fertilizer dose as the level (0, 10, 20 and 30 t/ha/y). The parameters studied were production of fresh, high plant, number of tillers, dry matter, crude protein, and crude fiber. The results showed that administration of buffalo fermented compost better than without the use of fertilizers. Dosing compost significant affect (P<0.05) in increasing production of fresh, high plant, number of tillers, dry matter, crude protein and crude fiber. The conclusion of this study that the best dose was 30 t/ha/y of buffalo fermented compost and the best interactions was dose of 30 ton/ha/year on Digitariamilanjiana.

Stem and stump of bananas have potential to be used as an alternative for ruminant feed. However, one of the problem is its rapidly decomposing which affect high of water content. The alternative way to solve this matter by using silage. The aim of this study was to determine the nutritional quality of banana waste silage (stems and stump) with the addition of molasses with different levels. The experimental design was a Completely Randomized Design in factorial 3 × 3 with two replications. The first factor (A) was the composition of the substrate, A1: stump 100% + stem 0%, A2: stump 50% + stem 50%, and A3: stump 0% + stem 100%, while the second factor (B) was the levels of molasses (0; 2.5; and 5%). The parameters measured were dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, extract ether, ash and BETN. The results showed that the composition of the substrate has significant effect (P<0.05) increased content of dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, BETN, but did not significant (P>0.05) on extract ether and ash content. There was an interaction (P<0.05) between the substrate composition and the addition of molasses on the content of the ash. The best composition for increasing the nutrient content was stump 100% + stemps 0%. It is conclude that the compostion of stump and stemps may affect the nutrient quality of silage.

ABSTRACT.  A study of pyisical properties and quality of yogurt with Lactobacillus bulgaricus as a starter has been doon. Objectives of this study is to know how many percent starter of L. bulgaricus in yogurt to decrease suscepetibility to syneresis and to increase quality of yogurt. Yogurt was analyzed for susceptibility to syineresis, titratable acidity and content of crude protein and crude fat. Syinerisis of yogurt was evaluated according to centrifugal methods of Halwarkar and Kalab. The result of the study showed that yogurt with 2.5-10 % L. bulgaricus as a starter are not have any effect of susceptibility to synerisis and content of crude fat, but centripuged at 250-1000 rpm. Had significantly different (0.01) on susceptibility to synerisis. On the other hand the increasing of centrifuge rotation, increase susceptibility to synerisis. The starter of 5-10% L. bulgaricus used in yogurt able to increase titratable acidity and content of crude protein. The yogurt prepared by 10% L. bulgaricus had the highest score (3.88%) of crude protein, although there is no significant differences with yogurt using 7.5% L. bulgaricus.

A field experiment was conducted during summer season of 2007 at the Demonstration Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Khartoum, Shambat, Sudan, to investigate the effect of seed rate and NPK fertilization on yield and quality of Rhodes grass forage (Chloris gayana L. Kunth) cv. Finecut. The treatment consisted of three seed rates (SDR1, SDR2 and SDR3) namely 5, 10 and 15 kg/ha and three NPK fertilizer levels (F0, F1 and F2) namely 0, 120 and 240 kg/ha respectively. NPK fertilizer components were N17 P17 K17. The experiment was laid out in a Factorial CRBD with four replications. The results showed that seed rate significantly increased forage fresh and dry yield. NPK fertilization significantly increased forage fresh and dry yield. Neither seed rate nor NPK fertilization were significantly affected crude protein and fiber content of leaves and stems of Rhodes grass, but the increase in seed rate and fertilizer levels slightly increased crude protein and decreased fiber percentage. Seed rate ×NPK fertilization interaction showed significant effect on crude protein and crude fiber contents. The highest protein percentage obtained under SDR2 (10kg/ha) with highest NPK fertilization level F2 (240 kg/ha), and lowest value obtained under SDR1(5kg/ha) with NPK fertilization F1(120kg/ha) and SDR1(5kg/ha) under control of fertilizer treatment (F0). Regarding crude fiber, highest value obtained under SDR2(10 kg/ha) with NPK fertilization F1 (120kg/ha) and SDR3 (15 kg/ha) under control treatments of fertilization (F0).

This research aims to identify isolate as a probiotic candidate derived from liquor rumen of local beef cattle  and to know the ability of isolates as biofermentor on basal feed to the changes in the nutrient value. The selected samples were obtained from a slaughterhouse in Surabaya.  This study consisted of two stages.  The first stage was the identification of bacteria through the test of morphology, Gram staining, biochemical, resistance to acidity and 16S rDNA sequencing. The second stage was a test of the ability of the isolates on the nutrient of basal feeds by fermentation for three days in an aerobic condition. Based on the findings of the first phase, it has been identified that probiotic bacterium rods, motility positive, Gram-negative, have viability at pH 2 and pH 3 for 90 minutes and 24 hours and have the ability to ferment lactose, sucrose, galactose, ribose, cellobiose and xylose. Furthermore, based on test results of 16S rDNA sequencing, the probiotic bacterium was identified as Bacillus cereus WPL 415. Based on the research results at the second stage, Bacillus cereus WPL 415 at doses of 0.25% and 0.5% could improve the nutrient content of the basal feed. The results of the proximate analysis revealed that there was an increase in crude protein content of 6.78% until 8.12% compared to the control and was able to lower the crude fiber content of 15.19% and 17.40% compared to the control. Based on these results it can be concluded that Bacillus cereus WPL 415 from local beef cattle can be used as a probiotic candidates to improve the quality of animal feed. Keywords: Bacillus cereus, probiotic, crude protein, crude fiber

This study was conducted to compare the environmental conditions around farms which was located in Tegal for Tegal ducks and Magelang for Magelang ducks. This study was also aimed to compare the composition of both feed nutrient content and the egg production. The research was conducted by survey method with purposive random sampling based on duck populations and age (8-15 months) provided by the farmer. Each area was provided 10 farmers for every farm and the data were collected in July-September, 2017. Environmental condition measurement were the temperature of the duck housing, and the composition and nutrient content of feed and the egg production of ducks. The results showed that all farmers’ ducks on a dry system rearing (without water pool) with average temperature in Tegal area 30.53±1.38oC and Magelang 28.32±1.00oC. Feed compositions given for Tegal duck consist of: dried rice, rice bran, concentrate, trash fish, golden snail, vermicelli waste and shrimp waste. The average nutrient content was crude protein 19.25%, energy 2,913 kcal/kg, crude fiber 5.82%, crude fat 6.87%, Ca 3.06% and P 1.40%. Feed composition for Magelang ducks consisted of rice (nasi aking), rice bran and concentrate, with crude protein content of 17.99%, 2,801 kcal/kg, crude fiber 8.14%, crude fat 6.10%, Ca 2.29% and P 1.04%. Tegal duck egg production was lower than Magelang ducks (64.89 vs 75.44%), but the egg weight was relatively the same. It could be concluded that the temperature of Tegal duck housing in Tegal region was hotter than Magelang region. Although the food quality of Tegal ducks was better than that of Magelang ducks, Tegal duck had a lower egg production because of the high environmental temperature.

<p><em>Since rice straw is seasonal and low quality roughage, </em><em>thus, </em><em>a supplementation for it is needed. Lamtoro lea</em><em>f</em><em> meal (LLM) and soybean meal (SBM), hav</em><em>e</em><em> both soluble and bypass protein</em><em>, </em><em>so it enough potential to supply nutrients </em><em>to</em><em> optimize of rumen microbes and improv</em><em>e </em><em>animal performance. Supplementation with LLM or SBM significantly increase</em><em>d</em><em> dry matter, organic matter, crude protein and crude fiber intake (</em><em>P</em><em>&lt;0.05). This fact showed that LLM or SBM supplementation made an </em><em>improvement</em><em> of rumen fermentation by microbes. Comparison between LLM and SBM to basal diet clearly showed that basal diet </em><em>wa</em><em>s the lowest (</em><em>P</em><em>&lt;0.0</em><em>5</em><em>) nutrien</em><em>t</em><em> intake and nutrien</em><em>t</em><em> digestibility, however, the animal fed basal diet degraded crude fiber was not </em><em>affected</em><em>. The use of sludge as fertilizers helps to the recycling of nutrients to the environment due to its beginning from wastewater and therefore relatively high content of nutrients and organic matter. However, wastewater does also contain hazardous compounds like heavy metals and micro pollutants which eventually are separated to the sludge during the treatment processes at the wastewater treatment plant. In order to improve the sludge quality, source tracking is a relatively cheap and effective way to find and eliminate hazardous compounds and prevent them from ending up in the sludge. The aim with this thesis was to investigate the fertilizer potential in sludge from wastewater treatment plant. The sludge is analyzed in terms of nutrient and heavy metal contents as well as physiochemical parameters. In order to determine the potential as fertilizer, the quality of the sludge is compared with other fertilizer alternatives, other sludge types and regulations for sludge use in agriculture. The work with sludge quality improvements in Gaborone is also investigated. Sludge from different stages along the treatment processes were collected in order to see differences in quality related to the treatment. The results shows that the samples of primary an aerobically treated sludge tend to have higher heavy metal content than the secondary sludge. The quality of the dry sludge samples indicates lower nutrient content than both the primary and secondary sludge, but similar heavy metal content. The analysis of dry sludge from indicates a low nutrient value and high heavy metal content in comparison to other selected fertilizer options and sludge from other. The processes for removal of nutrients from the wastewater are an important factor for the nutrient content in the sludge. Keywords wastewater; fertilizers; nutrients; sludge treatment

Oil palm press fibre is a byproduct of agro-industry that has a low nutrient content. To improve the nutritional quality of oil palm press fibre, it is carried out with biological processing techniques utilizing the work of indigenous microorganisms derived from local microorganisms of it. The research was conducted experimentally using a completely  randomized design (CRD) factorial pattern with 2 factors (3 x 3), namely first factor such as dose of local microorganisms (D 1 = 1%, D 2 = 3% andD 3 = 5%) and second factor such as long of fermentation (L1 = 7 days, L2 = 14 days and L3 = 21 days), with 3 replications. The parameters of this study consisted of the nutritional content of oil palm press fibre fermented such as moisture, dry matter, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, ash, and BETN. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the combination of treatment with a dose of local microorganisms 5% and fermentation time of 14 days had a significant effect (P<0.05) in increasing crude protein content and did not have a vegetable effect (P>0.05) in increasing the dry matter content and BETN and reducing water content. , crude fat, crude fiber and ash. Giving various doses of local microorganisms and fermentation time can increase crude protein content and have not been able to increase dry matter and BETN content and reduce moisture content, crude fiber and ash.
