The purpose of this correlation research was to know the contribution of social maturity to the reading comprehension competence of mentally retarded students of the fifth grades students at special school The research population covered the mentally retarded students at special schools in the east, west and south regions of Jakarta, selecting 30 students for the samples.applying stratified sampling technique. The hypothes was tested by product moment person correlation. The finding of the research showed socisl maturity contributed 87% to reading comprehension competence of the mentally retarded students in the fifth grade at special school. Based on the finding, the research provided a set of recommendations.

The purposes of this study are to find out the effect of REAP strategy on reading comprehension of the fifth grade elementary students of third cluster of Kotagede Yogyakarta. The research method in this study was quasi-experimental with Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population was all of fifth grade elementary students of third cluster of Kotagede Yogyakarta. The sample was fifth grade students of SD Baluwarti, SD Kotagede 1, and SD Kotagede 5 Yogyakarta that were establised by cluster random sampling technique. The data were collected using tests. The validity of the instrument was measured in terms of content and construct validity. The reliability of the instrument was stated good with the score of Cronbach’s Alpha = 0,734. The data of this study were analized by independent sample t-test and Manova with Hotteling’s Trace formula. The result showed that REAP strategy gave a positive and significant effect on reading comprehension that is proved by the score of t-test = 4,914 and 3,286 with sig = 0,000 and 0,002. Based on the result, it can be concluded that REAP strategy gives positive and significant effect on reading comprehension of the fifth grade elementary students of third cluster of Kotagede Yogyakarta.

Abstract The reading habits of the class V A and V B MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung are relatively moderate. While the reading ability of students in class V A and V B MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung is still relatively low. This is due to the process of learning a monotonous reading. This research aims to find out the correlation between reading habits and the ability to read the understanding of students of the V class MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung. This type of research is quantitative research with correlational design. This research was conducted in MI Ismaria al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung, August to September 2017. The total research population of the V grade students at MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung amounted to 154 students. Sample research of 70 students determined by using simple random sampling technique. The instrument consisted of a questionnaire and a test. Questionnaire is used to measure reading habits. The test is used to measure reading comprehension skills. Data analysis techniques using simple correlation analysis techniques. Based on the calculation of the coefficient with a significant status of 5% with rhitung > rtabel atau 0,593 > 0,240, thus Ha is acceptable. These results showed that there was a positive and significant correlation between reading habits with the ability reading comprehension of 0,593 and effective contribution of 35,2%   Keywords: Reading habits, The ability reading comprehension.   Abstrak Kebiasaan membaca pada siswa kelas V A dan V B MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung terbilang sedang. Sedangkan kemampuan membaca siswa kelas V A dan V B MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung masih terbilang rendah.  Hal ini disebabkan karena adanya proses pembelajaran membaca yang monoton. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui korelasi antara kebiasaan membaca dan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung, bulan Agustus sampai dengan September 2017. Populasi penelitian seluruh siswa kelas V MI Ismaria Al-Qur’anniyah Bandar Lampung berjumlah 154 siswa. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 70 siswa yang ditentukan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Instrumen terdiri dari angket dan tes. Angket digunakan untuk mengukur kebiasaan membaca. Tes digunakan untuk mengukur kemampuan membaca pemahaman. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis korelasi sederhana. Berdasarkan perhitungan koefisien dengan taraf signifikan 5% dengan rhitung > rtabel atau 0,593 > 0,240, dengan demikian Ha diterima. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa terdapat korelasi yang positif dan signifikan antara kebiasaan membaca dengan kemampuan membaca pemahaman sebesar 0,593 dan sumbangan efektifnya sebesar 35,2%.   Kata Kunci : Kebiasaan Membaca, Kemampuan Membaca Pemahaman.

This study discusses the problem of reading comprehension of students of SD Negeri 1 Teluk Betung Galik North Bandar Lampung 2018/2019 academic year. The ability to read comprehension in this study includes: (a) disclosure of the contents of the reading, themes, and facts; (b) the ability to retell; and (c) the ability to draw reading conclusions. This study aims to find out and describe how the level of reading comprehension of students. To achieve the objectives of the study, the authors used a descriptive qualitative method, while the data collection techniques were essay test techniques. The population in this study amounted to 30 students and the study sample was set at 30 people. The sampling technique used is the total sampling technique. Analyzing the data in this study is to use a percentage. Reading comprehension ability in fifth grade students in even semester SD Negeri 1 Teluk Betung Galik North Bandar Lampung 2018/2019 academic year obtained an average score of 69.99 this value is included in the criteria enough. Based on the aspects of the assessment, the value of reading comprehension in the aspects of the disclosure of reading content, themes, and facts is in the sufficient category with an average score of 61.66. The ability to read comprehension in the aspect of retelling ability is in a sufficient category with an average score of 66.66. The ability to read comprehension in the aspect of the ability to draw reading conclusions is in a good category with an average score of 83.33.

ABSTRACT  Muhafidin, This research is motivated by the ability of fifth grade students' reading comprehension is low, evidenced by the students do not understand and comprehend the content of reading, students had difficulty answering questions relating to the content of reading, as well as the average value of students still under KKM. This study aims to determine the effect of learning methods talk think write on the ability of reading comprehension folklore in class V SD Negeri 1 Cidempet of Arahan District of Indramayu Regency. This study was an experimental study. The population in this study were students of class V SD Negeri 1 Cidempet of Arahan District of Indramayu Regency totaling 22 students. The sampling technique used is total sampling where authors set into the sample population. So the study sample used is a fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Cidempet of Arahan District of Indramayu Regency totaling 20 students. Data collection techniques used is to write test. Data analysis techniques in this study is the normality test and test hypotheses (z test) is used to determine the effect of learning methods talk think write to the reading comprehension of folklore in class V SD Negeri 1 Cidempet of Arahan District of Indramayu Regency. Based on test results using a statistical hypothesis test obtained Z hit (7,458)> Z daf (2.35), then thank Hi means that there are significant learning method talk think write to the reading comprehension of folklore in class V SD Negeri 1 Cidempet of Arahan District of Indramayu Regency. The conclusion of this study is the application of learning methods talk think write on the ability of reading comprehension folklore in class V SD Negeri 1 Cidempet of Arahan District of Indramayu Regency. Suggestions in this study is teachers can implement a wide variety of learning methods in the implementation of learning so that students are active in studying and understanding the concepts being taught, and teachers should use teaching methods talk think write to improve reading comprehension folklore.     Keywords: Learning method talk think write, reading comprehension, folklore.

In the article the author has researched some aspects of ideas concerning implementation of modern information technologies in the system of special education. The author reviewed the directions of modern scientific researches in special pedagogy on the issue of implementation of information technologies. The author has considered the theoretical and practical achievements in the use of computer and cloud technologies at the institutional level. There has been defined the nature and possibilities of informatization environment development within the special schools and the possibilities for using the latest information technologies in mentally retarded children learning. The author has proved the expediency of forming a basic level of competence of the mentally retarded students in computer science. The prospects for further scientific research in this area were defined. It was indicated that their subject field should be a process of informatization environment development at the level of special school.

Kemandirian bukanlah keterampilan yang muncul secara tiba-tiba tetapi perlu diajarkan dan dilatih pada anak agar tidak menghambat tugas- tugas perkembangan anak selanjutnya. Terutama pada anak yang mengalami retardasi mental akan sangat membutuhkan dukungan dari keluarga. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui hubungan  dukungan keluarga dengan tingkat kemandirian anak retardasi mental di SLB Negeri Semarang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh orang tua siswa kelas IV-VI di SLB Negeri Semarang yang berjumlah 64 siswa. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah total sampling. Dukungan keluarga pada anak retardasi mental sebagian besar adalah mendukung yaitu sebanyak 53,1%, kemandirian anak retardasi mental sebagian besar adalah kurang mandiri yaitu sebanyak 53,1%. Hasil uji statistik menemukan ada hubungan antara dukungan keluarga dengan kemandirian anak retardasi mental di SLB Negeri Semarang, dengan p value sebesar 0,000.   Kata kunci : dukungan keluarga, kemandirian anak retardasi mental THE CORRELATION BETWEEN FAMILY SUPPORT AND THE LEVEL OF INDEPENDENCE OF MENTALLY RETARDED CHILDREN   ABSTRACT Independence is not a skill that emerges suddenly but needs to be taught and trained in children so as not to inhibit the tasks of further child development. Especially for children who are mentally retarded, they will need support from the family. Research objectives to find out the correlation between family support and the level of independence of mentally retarded children in extraordinary school State of Semarang. This study uses a quantitative method with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were all parents of students in class IV-VI in Semarang State SLB, amounting to 64 students. The sampling technique used is total sampling. Family support for mentally retarded children was mostly supportive, as much as 53.1%, the independence of most mentally retarded children was less independent, which was as much as 53.1%. The results of statistical tests found that there was a correlation between family support and the independence of mentally retarded children in Semarang State SLB, with a p value of 0,000.   Keywords: family support, independence of mentally retarded children

The aim of this research is to assess the coping strategies of physically challenged children. The area of assessment included in physical, emotional and social problems related to their physical disability. Descriptive research design was selected to study the physical, emotional and social problems and its coping strategies of physically challenged children. Purposive sampling technique used for 50 samples of Physically challenged children between the age group of 10-15 years who were educated at the special school in Mangalore. It was reached from the result of the findings that physically challenged children are using negative coping mechanism for social problems related to their physical disability whereas physical and emotional problems related to physical disability most of them are using positive coping mechanism.

This study is aimed at finding out the effect of Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) on students’ achievement in reading comprehension on hortatory exposition text. Experimental design was applied in this research. The population was the 2014/2015 second year students (grade XI) of SMA Swasta YAPIM Medan. There were two paralel classes that consisted of 34 students. The total number of the population were 68 students. The total number of the sample were 68 students. The researcher selected the sample by using total sampling technique. The sample was divided into two groups, experimental group and control group. The experimental group was taught by using Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) strategy while the control group was taught without using Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) strategy. The data were taken by administering the pre-test and post-test to both control and experimental groups. These data were analyzed by using t-test. The result of computing the t-test obviously showed that t-observed (5.61) is higher than t-table (1.99) with the degree of freedom (df= 66) at the level significance 0.05. It means that the alternative hypothesis stating that there is a significant effect of Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) on students’ achievement in reading comprehension on hortatory exposition text is accepted. This research investigates 1) students’ achievement in reading comprehension taught by using Direct Reading Thinking Activity (DR-TA) strategy is higher than taught by using Know, What to Learn, and Learned (KWL) strategy, 2) students’ achievement in reading comprehension with impulsive learning style is higher than students’ achievement in reading comprehension with reflective learning style, and (3) there is  interaction between teaching strategies and learning styles on the students’ achievement. Two classes containing of 70 students were chosen as sample by apllying cluster random sampling technique. The experimental group 1 was treated by using DR-TA and the experimental group 2 was treated by using KWL. The students’ achievement was measured by using test. The questionnaire was conducted to find out the students’ learning style. The data were analyzed by applying two-ways analysis of variance. The findings show that (1) the students’ achievement in reading comprehension taught by using DR-TA higher than using KWL; (2) students’ achievement in reading comprehension with impulsive learning style is lower than that with reflective learning style; (3) there is interaction between teaching strategies and learning styles on the students’ achievement in reading comprehension. The analysis revealed that the teaching strategies significantly affected the students’ reading achievement.   Keywords: DR-TA, KWL, Impulsive Learning Style, Reflective Learning Style, Reading Comprehension
