Skin graft is effective method to reconstruct large lesions on the skin. Long-term injuries such as burns, skin ulcers, skin flaps, skin grafts... can affect the health of the patient. Skin plays a very important role because it protects the body from dehydration, helps regulate temperature, helps prevent pathogenic bacteria or viruses from entering the body and minimizes skin deformation. In recent years the cold plasma has been used to aid the treatment of chronic skin wounds, burns, ulcers,... To assess the effectiveness of the wound healing process of Plasma, this study uses non – invasive (assess the shrinkage of the wound, the temperature change of the wound) and invasive methods (regeneration of skin tissue structure) to evaluate the therapeutic effects of Dielectric Barrier Dissections Plasma (DBD Plasma) in skin graft surgery. Experimenting with the entire skin graft model on mice, this use of DBD Plasma treatment along with clinical evaluation methods, this is to compare wound healing time between wounds treated with plasma DBD and untreated wound. After 21 days of experimentation, evaluation methods and results processing tools, it was shown that wound healing of skin lesions on mice of the wound area treated with DBD Plasma faster than nontreatment about: (1) The surface shrinkage rate is about 25%; (2) The average wound temperature is less than 0.5-1oC; (3) Healing time is faster from 5 to 6 days. Therefore, DBD Plasma is able to be a potential treatment for wound healing combined with skin graft surgery in the future. The initial study of DBD model is the premise from which could be broader in other animals such as rabbits and pigs with skin structure closer to the human skin. And further, the DBD Plasma shows the potential for preclinical application to human skin graft.

In the last few decades, the incidence of caesarean section is increasing in the world, especially in Indonesia. One of the way to treat tissue scar is through biologic and synthetic dressing where nowadays, amnion has been used as biologic dressing frequently. This study was conducted to determine the effect of the use of fresh amniotic membrane on wound incision Caesarean section compared with Caesarean section incision wound covered using regular gauze bandages and fixated with plaster in RS. Dr. Reksodiwiryo Padang. The design of this study is an experimen-tal study with Post test design with control group design. Sampling was done using a formula consecutive sampling two different test samples obtained an average of 72 people for each group. The analysis used include univariate and bivariate analyzes. The average wound healing time the difference was statistically significant (p value <0.05) in the treatment and control groups. There was highly significant difference in the proportion of local infection on day 3 between the treatment and control groups (p value <0.05). There were very significant differences in the proportion of local allergic reactions at day 3, and 5 between the treatment and control group (p <0.05). There are significant differences in terms of the cost of care per day between treatment and control groups (p <0.05). : Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disorder of endocrine system characterized by increase in blood glucose level. Several factors such as pancreatic damage, oxidative stress, infection, genetic factor, obesity, liver dysfunction play a vital role in pathogenesis of diabetes which further lead to serious diabetic complications. Diabetic wound is one such complication where the wound formation occurs, especially due to pressure and its healing process is disrupted due to factors such as hyperglycemia, neuropathy, nephropathy, peripheral vascular disease, reduction of blood flow, atherosclerosis, impaired fibroblast. Process of wound healing is delayed due to different abnormalities like alteration in nitric oxide level, increase in aldose reductase, sorbitol and fructose. Therefore, diabetic wound requires more time to heal as compare to normal wound. Healing time is delayed in diabetic wound due to many factors such as stress, decreased oxygenation supply, infection, decreased blood flow, impaired proliferation and migration rate, impaired growth factor production, impaired keratinocytes proliferation and migration, and altered vascular endothelial mediators. The current treatment for diabetic wound includes wound patches, oxygenation therapy, hydrogel patches, gene therapy, laser therapy, and stem cell therapy. Medications with phytoconstituents is also one way to manage diabetic wound, but it is not more effective for quick healing. The objective of this review is to understand the potential of various management options which are available for diabetic wound, with a special focus on biological cells.

Background: Reducing the healing time of wounds can decrease the patient`s immobility time and their medical costs,leading a faster return of the patients to daily work. Objective: To compare the effect of adipose-derived stem cells and curcumin-containing liposomal nanoparticles with phenytoin on wound healing. Method: After anesthesia of the rats, open skin ulcers were made by a bistoury blade.Subsequently,stem cells were re-moved from the adipose tissue of theupper border of the epididymis. Then,the originality of stem cells was confirmed by the flow cytometry. The fusion method was used to prepare the liposome;and also nanoliposomal particles wereconfirmedby using the DLS microscope.The percentage of recovery and the cell count was measured with IMAGEJ.The expression of genes was assessed by PCR. The number of fibro blasts was counted by immuno histo chemistry techniques.The amount of collagen was determined by Tri-chromosome staining and the number of capillaries was enumerated byH & E staining. Results: The expression of TGF-β1 gene, vascular number, wound healing rate and the numberof fibroblasts increased significantly in adipose tissue-derived stem cells and curcumin nanoliposome groups(p<0.05);the wound surface was also decreased significantly(p<0.05). Conclusion: Based on the results of our research, adipose tissue-derived stem cells and curcumin nanoliposomescan heal wounds efficiently.

Background: Wound healing is a complex process necessary for repairing damaged tissues and preventing infection. Selenium nanoparticles (Se NPs) were known due to their antioxidant and antimicrobial effects, also niacin has angiogenesis and antioxidant effects that are important in wound healing. Objective: The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of Se NPs and niacin in reducing and accelerating the wound healing time in mice. Methods: A simple wet chemical method has been modified to synthesize Se NPs in order to investigate their effect and niacin on reducing the wound healing in 80 adult female albino mice (250 mm2 full thickness open excision wound) that were divided into eight groups (10 mice/each). After 30-days, the mice were sacrificed, blood and tissue samples were taken for analysis. Results: The results showed that the percentage of wound area had been significantly reduced in Se NPs and niacin treated groups compared to the positive control. The level of Vascular Endothelial cell Growth Factor and Collagenase I in Se NPs and niacin groups significantly exceed those of other groups while Nitric Oxide (NO) was significantly decreased in treated groups. Liver and kidney functions showed the lower toxicity effect of Se NPs and niacin. Skin tissue showed the wound healing effect of Se NPs and niacin by regenerating skin layer compared to the positive group. Conclusion: Se NPs and niacin play an important role in accelerating and reducing the time of wound healing while they were antagonistic to each other.

Wound healing has been the burning problem in a surgical practice because of a remarkable increase in the number of traumatic cases. A wound causes a number of changes in the body that can affect the healing process, including changes in energy, protein, carbohydrate, fat, vitamin and mineral metabolism. Various Ayurveda literatures, particularly, Sushruta Samhita, which is said to be an ancient textbook of surgery in Ayurveda, has mentioned about the diet for the person suffering from the wound, and the author said that diet plays a very important role in the wound healing process. Sushruta - The father of surgery has scientifically classified it in a systemic manner, whose wealth of clinical material and the principles of management are valid even today. Shalya Tantra (surgical branch in Ayurveda Science) is one of the important branch of Ayurveda, in which surgical and para-surgical techniques has described for management of various diseases. Vrana is the most important and widely described chapter of Shalya Tantra. Vrana (wound) is one of them, which have been managed by human being from starting of civilization. Under the circumstances, the first thing which the men came across was the injury from different sources which caused him the Vrana. Vrana is seen as debilitating and scaring disorder, usually seen affecting the human being at any age. Well balanced nutrition plays an essential role in the wound healing.

Usually, cutaneous wound healing does not get impeded and processes uneventfully, reaching wound closure easily. The goal of this repair process is to restore the integrity of the body surface by creating a resilient and stable scar. Surgical practice and strategies have an impact on the course of wound healing and the later appearance of the scar. By considering elementary surgical principles, such as the appropriate suture material, suture technique, and timing, optimal conditions for wound healing can be created. Wounds can be differentiated into clean wounds, clean–contaminated wounds, contaminated, and infected/dirty wounds, based on the degree of colonization or infection. Furthermore, a distinction is made between acute and chronic wounds. The latter are wounds that persist for longer than 4–6 weeks. Care should be taken to avoid surgical site infections in the management of wounds by maintaining sterile working conditions, using antimicrobial working techniques, and implementing the principles of preoperative antibiotics. Successful wound closure is influenced by wound debridement. Wound debridement removes necrotic tissue, senescent and non-migratory cells, bacteria, and foreign bodies that impede wound healing. Additionally, the reconstructive ladder is a viable and partially overlapping treatment algorithm in plastic surgery to achieve successful wound closure.

Successful research and development cooperation between a textile research institute, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research via the Center for Biomaterials and Organ Substitutes, the University of Tübingen, and the Burn Center of Marienhospital, Stuttgart, Germany, led to the development of a fully synthetic resorbable temporary epidermal skin substitute for the treatment of burns, burn-like syndromes, donor areas, and chronic wounds. This article describes the demands of the product and the steps that were taken to meet these requirements. The material choice was based on the degradation and full resorption of polylactides to lactic acid and its salts. The structure and morphology of the physical, biological, and degradation properties were selected to increase the angiogenetic abilities, fibroblasts, and extracellular matrix generation. Water vapor permeability and plasticity were adapted for clinical use. The available scientific literature was screened for the use of this product. A clinical application demonstrated pain relief paired with a reduced workload, fast wound healing with a low infection rate, and good cosmetic results. A better understanding of the product’s degradation process explained the reduction in systemic oxidative stress shown in clinical investigations compared to other dressings, positively affecting wound healing time and reducing the total area requiring skin grafts. Today, the product is in clinical use in 37 countries. This article describes its development, the indications for product growth over time, and the scientific foundation of treatments.

AbstractSkin is the body’s first barrier against external pathogens that maintains the homeostasis of the body. Any serious damage to the skin could have an impact on human health and quality of life. Tissue engineering aims to improve the quality of damaged tissue regeneration. One of the most effective treatments for skin tissue regeneration is to improve angiogenesis during the healing period. Over the last decade, there has been an impressive growth of new potential applications for nanobiomaterials in tissue engineering. Various approaches have been developed to improve the rate and quality of the healing process using angiogenic nanomaterials. In this review, we focused on molecular mechanisms and key factors in angiogenesis, the role of nanobiomaterials in angiogenesis, and scaffold-based tissue engineering approaches for accelerated wound healing based on improved angiogenesis.

Abstract Background Hemorrhoids are common. Hemorrhoidectomy should typically be offered to patients whose symptoms result from external hemorrhoids or combined internal and external hemorrhoids with prolapse (grades III/IV). However, none of the currently used surgical methods could be considered an ideal surgical option that is effective, safe, and painless. We hypothesized that a combination of Ruiyun procedure for hemorrhoids (RPH) and simplified Milligan–Morgan hemorrhoidectomy (sMMH) will increase the safety and effectiveness of surgical treatment hemorrhoids. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Ruiyun procedure for hemorrhoids combined simplified Milligan–Morgan hemorrhoidectomy with dentate line-sparing (RPH + sMMH) to treat grade III/IV hemorrhoid. Methods Total 452 patients with hemorrhoids of grade III/IV were retrospectively reviewed in China-Japan Friendship Hospital, 244 cases were assigned to RPH + sMMH group, and 208 cases in MMH group. The primary efficacy outcome was rate of curative at 3 month after operation, and the recurrence rate within 12 months post operation. Secondary efficacy outcomes included wound healing time, time required to resume normal work, constipation symptom, quality of life, and pain post operation was also evaluated. The safety outcome included postoperative complications. Results There were no differences between the two groups in demographic characteristics. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in the curative rate. The recurrence rate after 12 months post operation in the RPH + sMMH (3.0%) was significantly lower than the sMMH group (7.8%) (P = 0.032). The wound healing time was significantly shorter in RPH + sMMH group than that in MMH group (P < 0.001). The time required to resume normal work in the RPH + sMMH group was significantly shorter than MMH group (P < 0.001). Compared with the MMH group, the RPH + sMMH therapy preserve better life quality and lower constipation symptom (all P < 0.05). Patients who underwent RPH + sMMH had significantly less postoperative pain than MMH therapy. The total rate of patients with postoperative complications in the RPH + sMMH group (8.6%) was significant lower than the MMH group (16.3%) (P = 0.012). Conclusion RPH + sMMH may more effective in treating patients with III/IV hemorrhoids, which indicated lower recurrence rate, lower postoperative complications and pain, shorter recovery and return to normal life.
