The main objective of the present study focused on the role of education in achieving the level of self-actualization and self-transcendence among inmates. The inmates were in the sensitive age of their life. They should be exposed to academic education rather than violence and the appropriate place for them is the school and not the prison. The present research was a quantitative study. The universe of the present study was the Industrial Schools, YOIS (Youthful Offenders Industrial School) in Karachi. Purposive sampling method has been applied because this form of sampling generally considers the respondents with common characteristics, untypical and deviant behavior that tries to figure out where such individuals can be found and then allows the researcher might decide to go to certain street or to a particular bar to study them. The respondents were 120 inmates, the entire population which was interviewed purposively. The data was collected through structured questionnaire and analyzed through SPSS. The major findings showed the impact of education is helpful to improve the present status and act as a predictor in satisfying the needs assessment for self-actualization and self-transcendence to make these delinquents useful and potential being when they leave the industrial school.

This article explores the growth and development of Industrial Schools following independence in Ireland with a particular focus on children within the family setting and how these institutions influenced child welfare policy in Ireland. Twenty-five unstructured interviews were conducted with male and female former Industrial School ‘inmates’. This article focuses on the research gathered from these, with a particular emphasis placed on the data that emerged relating to their background and this is further supplemented by that collected in the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse (CICA) Report (2009). This article draws on a Foucauldian perspective in order to understand how institutions regulated the lives of Irish people (in this case children and their families), through the definition of what is ‘normal’ and identifying who is seen to deviate from this.

Self-transcendence has become and remains an important research theme. Little is known about the role of self-transcendence in cultivating meaningful work and its impact on the wellbeing of middle managers in the face of adversity, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of this qualitative hermeneutic phenomenological study was to explore the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the meaning middle managers attach to their work by investigating the role of self-transcendence in cultivating meaning and wellbeing in a cohort of seven South African middle managers employed in cross-boundary service industry settings. Data were collected through unstructured narratives. Findings confirm that self-transcendence serves as a coping mechanism during adversity and that it facilitates the re-negotiation of meaning, resulting in three potential shifts: the shift from a blame orientation to a work orientation, the shift from reflection to reflexivity and the shift from self-consciousness to other-consciousness. The findings also highlight how self-transcendence enables the exploration of the adaptive benefits of anxiety. The findings contribute new insights into the construct of self-transcendence and extend research on existential positive psychology. It is suggested that organizations invest in reflexive practices as a tool to promote deep learning and connectivity by exploring dialectical processes through reflexive work.

Islamic Sufism is considered a scientific and practical education of souls, a cure for diseases of the heart, a plantation of virtues, a rebellion of vices and a suppression of desires and a training in patience, contentment and obedience. In addition, it has had a great impact on strengthening spiritual ties between all cultural, social and tribal components. Sufism is also considered one of the most important characteristics in the religious field. This is due to the accumulation of educational assets in this field that have contributed very effectively to the formation of religious conscience and national social behavior, which cannot be erased or changed. Sunni Islamic Sufism is a practical, not theoretical, and therefore realistic, and this realism means taking into account the reality of the universe in terms of its reality. The Sufi’s observance of this realism makes him fully connected with the society in which he lives. On the other hand, the constant of Sunni Sufism works to consolidate the values of peace and social cohesion. Furthermore, the general experiences show us that men of Sufism who involve themselves in peace can more than others contribute to spreading and strengthening peace in their surroundings, just as Sufis believe in the reality of intellectual difference whether between persons or between nations and they deal in cooperation and acquaintance. This article aims to define the role of Sunni Sufism in establishing of the principle of social cohesion. Background Bridging educational and social psychology, we examine the impact of positive intergroup relations in schools on minority and nonminority school careers. Purpose of Study The study aims to estimate and explain the attainment gap between Turkish Belgian minority and Belgian nonminority students at four stages of their school careers, controlling for family background and prior attainment. Intergroup friendship and perceived teacher support were expected to reduce the attainment gap. Research Design Randomly sampled Turkish Belgian students and students in a nonminority comparison sample (N = 661) answered retrospective questions on their school careers and early schooling experiences. By way of separate multinomial logistic regressions, we estimated the attainment gap as the odds of leaving school or staying in vocational (vs. academic) education at four stages: lower, middle, upper secondary, and tertiary levels. Next, we tested the effects of intergroup friendship and teacher support on track placement and dropout at each level. Results As expected, our findings indicated a persistent and widening attainment gap between minority and nonminority school careers in the hierarchical structure of the Belgian school system. Minority students who had started in academic tracks were less likely to continue in academic and higher education and more likely to leave school at each stage than similar nonminority students. Intergroup friendship (for minority students) and perceived support from teachers (for all) significantly increased staying-on rates and reduced the attainment gap. Conclusion Our findings demonstrate the key role of positive intergroup relations with peers and teachers in enabling students, especially minority students, to stay on in school.

This study expresses a positive classroom environment depending on two axes; physical setting of the classroom and the role of the teacher as a positive atmosphere creator. By applying the proposed environment, the study tries to discover the impact of it on EFL college students’ self-actualization and risk-taking. To obtain the objectives and to verify a hypothesis, an experimental design was applied by using two groups, experimental and control. The sample of the study consists of sixty EFL first stage college students divided into two groups, each of which is thirty. The first group is the experimental, which is taught in a positive classroom environment as stated by this study. The second group is the control one, which is taught traditionally by letting the classroom as it is, without any positive addition. Two measurement tools have been used; a scaled questionnaire that has been adapted from Stephen D. Luft (2007), and a self-actualization scale that is developed by Jones & Crandall (1986).Using a t-test for the two independent samples shows notable effects on EFL college students’ risk-taking and self-actualization. Based on the results obtained, educational implications that are concerned with teachers and students have been put forward.

Abstract The theme is decoding the “literary field of the Romanian proto-diplomatic document”, designed to replace the art of diplomacy and cultural regeneration. It is the observation field over the products of literature’s habitat, the “art of the word”. Therefore, to confirm the “Romanian tradition”, we have analysed several of the “literary works” of some Romanian writers from the 19th Century. Under these circumstances, attention is drawn on the role of the document/deed, on its importance in the universe of cultures. Attention is drawn on the occurrence of proto-religious documents and of the proto-diplomatic documents. During the evolution of scripts in the mid 17th Century – presented by Nicolae Iorga as “abandonment of the Franciscan spirit, a change of the entire meaning of the religious literature”, we have included in the study the role of Slavic monks (refugees from Mount Athos on our lands) and their apprenticeship in the atmosphere of “mysticism and culture”, the impact caused by founders of monasteries, turned genuine centres of culture. Within these monastic places, the art of calligraphy and miniature develops, revived under Matei Basarab, Vasile Lupu and especially during the reign of Constantin Brâncoveanu.

Research Question: What determinants drive the entrepreneurial intentions of students enrolled in accounting master programs: entrepreneurial competencies, family and friends support or entrepreneurial education? Motivation: The current research purpose is to explore to what extent the entrepreneurship is a feasible alternative career for students enrolled in accounting master programs and the role of academic education in entrepreneurship in selecting the entrepreneurial career. Generally, entrepreneurs are associated with providers of novel products and/or services, but we consider the entrepreneurial career in accounting services as feasible as any other career. Idea: The student’s interest in entrepreneurial activities remains greatly influenced by the entrepreneurial universities policies, making the role of universities crucial. Based on the affirmation that current students will be tomorrow’s successful entrepreneurs (Pribeanu and Milutin, 2014), it is essential to increase the impact of entrepreneurial education on the student’s life. It is not easy for universities, knowing the changes and challenges that they have to face nowadays (Schulte, 2014), but it is their responsibility and they do have the responsibility to make the change possible. Data: The data of this paper is collected based on a survey on the student’s perception on entrepreneurship and analyses the competences and abilities they gain as result of their bachelor studies and how these perceived competencies and abilities are currently helping or will help them to choose an entrepreneurial career. Tools: The study is based on a questionnaire distributed to master students enrolled in accounting master programs organized by The Bucharest University of Economic Studies. The research methodology consists of a descriptive analysis and regression analysis. Additionally, the structure of questionnaire allows us to use the Carlsson et al.’s (2012) framework for investigating the entrepreneurship, which is based on two perspectives, namely explorative and exploitative. Findings: The findings allow to state that students are taking into consideration the entrepreneurship career and their decision is positively influenced by family and friends setting and education. The test of the models resulted in adjusted R-squares higher than 0.90 indicating robust support for the regression models. Contribution: Our empirical study investigates three determinants of entrepreneurial skills and, as result of this research, universities, government officials and others interested in stimulating entrepreneurial motivation should consider how their actions affect potential entrepreneurs’ enthusiasm. Furthermore, this academic paper enhances the Romanian academic literature in the field of entrepreneurship.
