Introduction. One of the ways to the solve iodine deficiency problem is the addition of iodine to farm animal feed. It allows producing iodized livestock products. Promising sources of organic iodine are iodotyrosine-containing iodized milk proteins. Organic iodine accumulation in organs and tissues has not been sufficiently studied. Study objects and methods. We determined iodotyrosine content in rat blood plasma and in pig muscle tissue. For this purpose, high performance liquid chromatography with mass spectrometric detection and cathodic stripping voltammetry were used. Results and discussion. At the first stage of the study, we examined iodotyrosines in rat blood plasma after a single administration of iodized milk protein or potassium iodide (30 μg I/kg weight) at specific time intervals. A significant increase in the concentration of monoiodotyrosine and diiodotyrosine was recorded 4 and 24 h after the administration. At the second stage, we studied the accumulation of iodotyrosines in the muscle tissue of pigs during their fattening period (104 days). The diet of the control animal group included potassium iodide (0.6 mg I/kg of feed). The experimental groups A and B got iodized milk protein (0.3 and 0.6 mg I/kg of feed, respectively). Monoiodotyrosin content in the muscle tissue of pigs of the experimental groups was 3.0 and 5.2 times higher than that in the control group. Diiodotyrosine content was 4.9 and 8.2 times higher. In the experimental group A, iodine content in muscle tissues was 26% higher than that in the control group, in the experimental group B it was 72% higher. Calculations of iodine intake balance and its accumulation in muscle tissues showed that in animals whose diet included iodized milk protein, the iodine assimilation was much higher (0.70 and 0.53%) than in the control group (0.21%). Conclusion. Iodotyrosines from iodized milk protein are absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract in an unchanged form and accumulate in muscle tissues. The findings give more clear understanding of physiological and biochemical mechanisms of organic iodine absorption in animals.

The aim of this study was designed to examine the efficiency of various iodine compounds in pigs’ diets. The impact of inorganic and organic iodine compounds – potassium iodate and iodated milk protein, which is a part of the "ProstTM" feed additive ("Innbiotech", Russia) – on the growth, meat productivity and lean meat yield of fattening pigs was studied. The physico-chemical composition and biological value of the meat were studied. The accumulation of iodine in animal muscle tissue was assessed. It was found that iodized milk protein contributed to more intensive growth than the inorganic iodine source. Specifically, animals fed the organic form of iodine were superior in terms of carcass weight and yield value of muscle and fat tissue. Compared to the control group, the experimental groups of pigs demonstrated a muscle tissue yield of 0.45%. Organic sources of iodine were also found to have a positive impact on the chemical composition of meat; animals fed the organic form of iodine surpassed those receiving inorganic iodine in terms of their meat’s dry substance, protein content and fat content. The level of iodine in the muscle tissue of pigs receiving organic iodine was considerably higher, and these pigs surpassed those receiving the inorganic iodine source in terms of the presence of essential amino acids in their muscle tissue.

Aim. The paper studies the dynamics of the indicators defi ning the antioxidant system (AOS) and endogenous intoxication in patients with microbial eczema (ME) prior to and following treatment.Materials and methods. The experimental group consisted of patients with ME (n=30) and the control group comprising somatically healthy individuals (n=30). In this study, we determined the components of the antioxidant defence system in blood plasma and erythrocyte suspension, as well as assessed endogenous intoxication.Results. The study revealed an imbalance of indicators refl ecting the severity of oxidative stress and endogenous intoxication in patients suffering from ME. Prior to receiving treatment, the experimental group, as compared to the control group, exhibited an increase in catalase activity (CAT) up to 35.93 [32.50; 38.22] mmol / (min • l) (p < 0.001) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) up to 1194.27 [1069.50; 1375.78] μmol / (min • l) (p < 0.001). In addition, there was a decrease in the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) to 13.28 [11.35; 14.10] u/l (p < 0.001), glutathione reductase (GR) to 501.46 [479.77; 542.52] mmol / (min • l) (p < 0.001) and the concentration of reduced glutathione to 1.64 [1.59; 1.78] μmol / ml (p = 0.043). We observed no statistically signifi cant changes in the total antioxidant activity (TAA) of blood plasma (0.59 [0.55;0.62] mg/l; р = 0.375) and the sulphhydryl groups (0.44 [0.41;0.47] ODU; р =0.111). The patients with ME exhibited the syndrome of endogenous intoxication (SEI), accompanied by an increase in the content of medium and low molecular weight molecules in plasma to 12.19 [11.20; 13.37] arb. u. (p < 0.001), with their content in erythrocytes being relatively normal – 15.23 [14.26; 16.44] arb. u. (p = 0.005). Following the treatment, changes in the studied parameters were of a multidirectional character in relation to the control values. An increased level of CAT and GPx (р <0,001), as well as lower values of SOD and GR, continued to be observed (р < 0.001). The TAA in serum (p = 0.308), sulphhydryl groups (p = 0.111) and reduced glutathione (p = 0.107) did not differ signifi cantly from the control values. The treatment did not reverse the SEI: the content of medium and low molecular weight molecules continued to increase in both plasma and erythrocytes, as compared to the control values (p < 0.001 in both cases).Conclusion. The obtained data confi rm the failure of mechanisms underlying antioxidant defence in patients with ME. Despite the attempt of its compensation by increasing the catalase activity, SOD control values were still not reached. An increase in the GPx activity along with a decrease in GR was observed, which could have lead, in turn, to a decrease in the concentration of reduced glutathione. The failure of the antioxidant defence mechanisms is also indicated by an increase in the content of medium and low molecular weight molecules, as well as by the development of the SEI, resulting from the excessive formation of reactive oxygen species and the inability of the antioxidant system to neutralise them.

In order to reach better production and financial results of pork production different technological ways of pig fattening are researched. The purpose of this paper is to show separate results of polyenzyme application and the results of the use of heat-treated cereals in pig fattening as well as the results of their combined application. Pigs fattened on a diet with polyenzyme preparation and heat-treated cereals, either separately or combined, were characterised by an insignificantly higher growth rate and their feed intake per kilogram of weight gain was low compared to pigs fed standard mixtures (control group). In statistical terms, the relative portion of muscle tissue in pork carcass was significantly lower in experimental group 3 fed the mixture with heat-treated cereals than in the other groups. The absolute portion of muscle tissue in pork carcass was statistically more important in experimental group 2 (45.15 kg) receiving the mixture of enzyme additive and heat-treated cereals, and the least important in experimental group 3 (40.92 kg) fed heat-treated cereals. During pig fattening the income for experimental groups was higher than for the control group because of better production results. Average values covering variable expenses show the increase only in the third experimental group in the second fattening period compared to the control group, but these differences were of no statistical importance. &nbsp;

Forty female chickens were allocated to four groups of ten birds each. The control group (K) was fed a basal diet without supplementation. The second control group received a basal diet with humic acid (HA) at a dose of 0.5 g per chicken/day. The first experimental group was fed the basal diet with methyl-mercury (MeHg) at a dose of 0.02 mg per chicken/day and the group of chickens MeHg + HA received 0.5 g HA per chicken/day. After slaughter, mercury levels were assessed in liver, kidney, brain and muscle tissue samples. After 10-day treatment of the chickens with MeHg, significantly increased (<I>P</I> < 0.001) Hg concentrations were detected in all examined tissues in comparison with the groups K and HA. The average concentrations in liver, kidneys, brain and muscle tissues were 424, 398, 81.6 and 79.2 µg Hg/kg, respectively. After concurrent treatment with HA and MeHg, Hg concentrations were lower by 20.6%, 23.8%, 23.0% and 18.6% in liver, kidneys, brain and muscle tissues (<I>P</I> < 0.001). Biological accumulation of Hg was 25.5% and 20.4% in MeHg and MeHg + HA groups, respectively.

The trace elements were introduced into feed concentrates, and they into the fodder mix by the method of weight dosing and multi-stage mixing. Balancing of rations of highly productive cows of the 1st control group to norm only Selenium, Kuprum and Iodine, led to a concentration in 1 kg DM (dry matter) of feed mix, mg: Zinc – 32.4; Manganese – 27.8; Cobalt – 0.27; Selenium – 0.3; Copper – 12 and Iodine – 1.1 and the lowest concentration of Mangan in milk and in the body. The cows of the 2nd and 3rd experimental groups were fed with all the trace elements to the norm (for the 2nd experimental group at the expense of zinc sulfates, manganese, cobalt, copper, selenium, Suplex of Selenium and potassium iodide, for the 3rd instead of zinc sulfates, manganese and mixed cobalt compounds were introduced into their ligand complexes). The concentration of trace elements in these groups in 1 kg of DM was, mg: Zinc – 76; Manganese – 76; Cobalt – 0,97; Copper – 12; Selenium – 0.3 and Iodine – 1.1. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of p38 MAPK inhibition on the oxidative phosphorylation system during repair of muscle tissue. Materials and methods. In the control animal group (n = 21), a wound was inflicted on the longest back muscle; then a medicinal film free of active substance was applied to the wound. In the main group (n = 21), the applied film contained a p38 MAP-kinase inhibitor, SB 203580. The animals were euthanized on days 1, 3, 7, 14, and 30. In the histological study, the number of myosatellite cells per field of view was counted in the trauma zone. The immunofluorescence method was used to study the intensity of OxPhos Complex IV expression. Results. Inhibition of the p38 MAPK cascade by local administration of the active substance formulated into the medicated film allowed «putting the brakes» on division of myosatellite cells during the early reparative process, on day 7 vs. day 3 in the control group, and also resulted in a sharp increase in oxidative phosphorylation in the regeneration zone of muscle tissue.

The objective of this study was to assess the effect of vitamin E and selenium (Se) supplementation on the plasma levels of F2-isoprostanes as a marker of oxidative stress in horses in their training period. Twelve healthy 3-year-old English thoroughbred horses were divided into two groups: control (n = 6) and experimental (n = 6). Feeding rations were adapted to a moderate workload. The horses of the experimental group received supplements of DL-α-tocopheryl acetate E (2 250 mg/day/horse) and of sodium selenite (0.5 mg/day/horse). The plasma concentrations of both antioxidants and F2-isoprostanes were monitored on days 0, 44 and 70. After 70 days of supplementation, the concentrations of selenium in the experimental group were significantly higher (P < 0.05) compared to the beginning of the experiment (mean ± SE: 135.81 ± 10.19 μg l -1 vs. 98.70 ± 10.88 μg l -1), as well as to the control group (day 0: 101.78 ± 11.06 μg l -1, day 70: 108.18 ± 7.77 μg l -1). In the horses of the experimental group, plasma α-tocopherol levels significantly increased from the 44th day of supplementation compared to the beginning of the study as well to the control group (5.23 ± 0.52 mg l -1 vs. 2.45 ± 0.25 mg l -1 or 3.46 ± 0.34 mg l -1, respectively). The plasma concentration of F2-isoprostanes tended to be lower in the experimental group at the end than at the beginning of monitoring (156.8 ± 12.89 pg l -1 vs. 170.3 ± 60.8 pg l -1), although the control group showed the opposite trend (181.2 ± 15.67 pg l -1 vs. 137.0 ± 47.05 pg l -1). Nevertheless, none of these differences were significant because of the large variability of the individual values. It can be stated that supplementation of the diet used with selenium and vitamin E caused a non-significant decrease of F2-isoprostane concentration in the blood plasma only, and a significant increase of plasma concentrations of these antioxidants. The variation of isoprostane levels probably reflected rather the individual responses of the horses' organisms to the training workload.

The effectiveness of the biogenic stimulants action based on the larvae of the SITR bees drone brood and adult individuals of the ST drones on the chemical composition, physical and chemical, commodity technological properties, nutritional and biological value of the muscle and fatty tissues in young turkeys is studied. The turkey-poults of the 1st group received injections of a physiological salt solution, and the 2nd and 3rd experimental groups, respectively, of the SITR and ST biological stimulants, three times at the age of 1, 7 and 14 days at a dose of 0.1 ml per 50 g of live weight. It was established that in the middle sample of the muscle tissue in turkeys of the 2nd and 3rd experimental groups there were less water and more dry matter and protein. Biogenic stimulants contributed to the synthesis of muscle tissue in turkeys of the 2nd and 3rd experimental groups, in which contained 1.79 (B>0.999) and 1.31 (B>0.99) absolute % more protein and 0.32 and 0.23 absolute % less fat than in the control group. In the muscle tissue of turkeys stimulated with biogenic preparations, there were more tryptophan by 1.63 and 0.84 mg% and by 0.92 and 0.54 mg% less hydroxyproline than in turkeys at the same age of the control group. The protein-quality index of muscle tissue was higher in turkeys of the 2nd and 3rd experimental groups by 3.08 and 1.72% than in the control. The first place in the overall assessment of meat and broth quality was taken by the turkeys from the 2nd experimental group; the second place was taken by the turkeys of the third experimental group. Their superiority over the control group was 0.151 and 0.109 points, respectively. The fatty tissue of turkeys in all experimental groups has good quality and high digestibility indices. It has in its composition a large amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids; this indicates its high biological value.

BACKGROUND: Prolonged exposure to stress is known to change homeostasis and can lead to the development of psychopathological disorders, including depression. Exposure to stress factors contributes to the emergence of reactive oxygen species in the brain. The data characterizing changes of the oxidative metabolism under conditions of chronic stress are insufficient, which determine the relevance of the research in this direction. The determination of reactive carbonyl derivatives of proteins (RCDP), methylglyoxal (MG), and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels can be considered an informative method for studying the dynamics of oxidative metabolism. AIM: The aim of the study was to study the RCDP, MG, and MDA in red blood cells and blood plasma in rats experiencing chronic unpredictable moderate stress (CUMS). METHODS: A total of 20 male outbred rats weighing 450–500 g were used in the study. The animals were divided into two groups of ten rats each using randomized selection. The experimental group of animals was exposed to the impact of diverse stress factors, according to the CUMS model for 21 days. The control group of animals remained in standard conditions and did not undergo CUMS model. Blood sampling was performed twice for all rats the day before the experiment started and on 21st day to determine the level of RCDP, MG, and MDA in their erythrocytes and blood plasma. RESULTS: The study revealed a significant decrease of RCDP (p = 0.007) and MDA levels in erythrocytes (p = 0.013), and MDA level in blood plasma (p = 0.005) of rats of the main experimental group. The control group showed a significant increase of RCDP level in plasma (p = 0.008), a two-fold increase of MDA in erythrocytes (p = 0.05) with a decrease of MDA in plasma (p = 0.011). A tendency for MG increase was noted in erythrocytes of rats in both the main group and the control group. CONCLUSION: The early stages of CUMS were accompanied by the violation of oxidative metabolism with the emergence and accumulation of RCDP and MDA in the blood of animals. The decreased emergence of RCDP and MDA in the later stages can be associated with an excess of oxidized substrates in the blood of animals of the experimental group. The revealed trend toward MG growth in animals of both groups suggests its increased synthesis in erythrocytes, which, in our opinion, should be considered a negative factor affecting the deformability of red cells. In turn, a violation of the deformability of red blood cells leads to a violation of microcapillary blood flow, which contributes to the development of hypoxic damage in different tissues. Thus, the obtained data confirm the different directions of changes in RCDP and MDA levels in the blood of animals experiencing CUMS or acute stress. Our results prove the need for further research on changes in oxidative metabolism in chronic stress disorders.

The influence of the metabolism of nitrogen-containing compounds in the body of dairy calves and calves on fattening was studied when the feed additive N-carbomylglutamate (NCG) was included in the diets. The introduction of the NCG feed supplement into the main diet leads to a decrease in the level of free ammonia in the blood plasma of dairy calves by 2 times compared to the control group. In fattened calves in the experimental groups, the concentration of ammonia in the blood plasma was less by 20.9% in group 1 and by 54.2% in group II. At the same time, in the experimental group of dairy calves, an increase in body weight gain was recorded by 5.01% compared to the control. The introduction of the feed additive NSP contributed to the transfer of toxic ammonia from the blood plasma, due to the activation of the ornithine cycle in the liver cells and the scar wall with the formation of an excess of carbomoylphosphate and the synthesis of endogenous arginine. Exogenous arginine from feed can be replaced with NCG in the diet of ruminants. The addition of NCG to feed or ZCM will improve the utilization of ammonia, increase the efficiency of the use of protein in the diet, resistance to stress, and will be a factor in increasing the productivity of young cattle.
