The article presents in detail the methodological approaches to calculating the integrated assessment of brand strength, as well as the results of testing the system of indicators and the mathematical model on the example of a comprehensive assessment of the power of the regional brand “The real Vologda product”. The developed methodology as a whole is the result of research within the framework of the implementation of a state scientific grant from the government of the Vologda Oblast. In addition to the system of indicators, built on the basis of the results of generalization of theoretical materials and practical experience of domestic and foreign authors on this problem and the use of modeling techniques, a questionnaire for researching consumer attitudes towards brand product is presented, a methodology for presenting the results of respondents’ answers to questions in a quantitative coefficient form is described. A mathematical model has been developed to calculate the integrated indicator for assessing brand strength based on the survey results, which includes information received both from the consumer and from outside experts. The scaling of the possible values of this estimate has been performed. The matrix of indicators for assessing brand strength is graphically presented, which allows you to give both a general and a detailed qualitative characteristic of brand strength based on the results of using the model, to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the brand, and to reveal its potential. Purpose of the research. The purpose of this research was to develop a comprehensive methodology for assessing brand strength and its approbation on the example of the regional product brand “The real Vologda product”. Materials and methods. The research was carried out on the basis of data from a questionnaire survey of consumers and experts, construction of a mathematical model, including coefficient values of indicators reflecting the level of indicators that allow assessing brand strength in the complex. Mathematical and statistical methods were used as the basis for transferring the results of the respondents’ answers into the coefficient form, their standardization and generalization. A graphical method was used to represent the matrix of indicators for assessing brand strength. Results. The studied domestic and foreign methods for assessing the power of a brand, with all their obvious positive aspects and completeness, have a weak side – they are qualitative from the standpoint of characteristics of the strength, potential and status of a brand, they only allow a description of these properties. As a result of the study, it was possible to generalize the existing experience, develop a system of brand strength indicators, draw up a questionnaire for a consumer survey that allows collecting information to measure the values of these indicators, build a mathematical model for calculating an integrated brand strength assessment, develop a methodology for the qualitative characteristics of the results of calculating this assessment based on the matrix. Approbation of the methodology made it possible to obtain a comprehensive quantitative assessment of the power of the regional product brand “The Real Vologda product”, to formulate recommendations that were taken into account by the copyright holder of the brand – Budgetary Institution of the Vologda Region “Vologda Information and Consulting Center of the Agro-Industrial Complex” when elaborating its development strategy. Conclusion. The results of assessing the influence of the indicators’ contribution to the integrated indicator of the brand strength “The Real Vologda product” showed that its strength and potential are mostly due to the factors such as physical availability and quality of products, highly rated by consumers, as well as demand from the buyer. At the same time, according to the experts, these factors also received very high weighted coefficients.

Subject. As digital technologies spread across all industries, active processes of digital transformation need to be managed both nationally and regionally. Assessing the extent of digitalization across types of economic activities is the key issue for setting up the socio-economic development strategy of the region and evaluating its efficiency. Objectives. The study is aimed to formulate and test methodological approaches to assessing the digitalization in types of economic activities and the potential of digital technologies for the real economy. Methods. The study relies upon the dialectical method, systems approach, questionnaires, expert approach, interpretation of empirical facts through tables, etc. Results. We devised a methodological approaches to assessing the extent of digitalization in types of economic activities across regions. The approach combines the quantification and evaluation of the process and helps determine the extent of local digital transformation at the regional level. We devised and tested the methodological approach to rating digital technologies, which have the high potential for raising the competitiveness and resilience to competition of the industrial sector in the Russian regions. As opposed to the existing approaches, the approach accounts for the current scale of digital technologies in the national economy, the potential for growth in the demand and supply in the domestic and foreign markets, and the potential for import substitution with respect to foreign technologies and products. Conclusions and Relevance. What makes the proposed methodological approaches more preferable is that they help assess not only the extent of digitalization in types of economic activities and the predominance of certain types in industrial enterprises, but also determine their potential for import substitution in terms of digital security.

In this work, we obtain the numerical solutions of a 2D mathematical model of tumor angiogenesis originally presented in [Pamuk S, ÇAY İ, Sazci A, A 2D mathematical model for tumor angiogenesis: The roles of certain cells in the extra cellular matrix, Math Biosci 306:32–48, 2018] to numerically prove that the certain cells, the endothelials (EC), pericytes (PC) and macrophages (MC) follow the trails of the diffusions of some chemicals in the extracellular matrix (ECM) which is, in fact, inhomogeneous. This leads to branching, the sprouting of a new neovessel from an existing vessel. Therefore, anastomosis occurs between these sprouts. In our figures we do see these branching and anastomosis, which show the fact that the cells diffuse according to the structure of the ECM. As a result, one sees that our results are in good agreement with the biological facts about the movements of certain cells in the Matrix.

When developing modern lighting technologies for objects of the agro-industrial complex, the problem arises of assessing the contribution of reflected light to the normalized illumination. The reflective properties of the surfaces of materials are characterized by a reflection coefficient ρ, which reaches a value of 0.7. This allows us to consider the reflective surfaces as an additional light source and the possibility of reducing energy consumption costs. (Research purpose) The research purpose is in developing a mathematical model that allows us to estimate the spectral reflection coefficient ρ(λ) of materials of construction technologies of the agro-industrial complex in the ultraviolet and visible spectral regions. (Materials and methods) That the disadvantage of various models is the lack of an analytical method for calculating the reflection coefficient in a wide range of wavelengths. We used a probabilistic method to overcome this disadvantage. (Results and discussion) The developed mathematical model makes it possible to estimate the reflection coefficient of the rough surface of materials in a wide range of the spectrum. For concrete, the area of agreement between theory and experiment is in the wavelength range from 250 to 1000 nm. The saturation mode predicted by the theory (the independence of the reflection coefficient from the wavelength) at a reflection coefficient of 0.4 is consistent with the experimental values in the visible range of the spectrum for construction materials of the agro-industrial complex, in particular, gray textured concrete, gray facade paint, light wood, gray silicate brick, new plaster without whitewash. (Conclusions) In the case of normal light incidence, the developed mathematical model allows us to theoretically estimate the reflection coefficient of the rough surfaces of construction technologies of the agro-industrial complex. The proposed model can be used in the development and design of a system of technological lighting of large-area premises (for example, when keeping birds on the floor), as well as for developing recommendations for reducing the energy consumption of existing lighting systems.

In this study, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are coated with nickel (Ni) to improve the wettability of the CNT surface and metal matrix, and allow an effective load transfer from the matrix to nanotubes. Pure magnesium is used as the matrix material and different weight percentages of Ni-coated multi-walled CNTs are incorporated as the reinforcing material. The nanocomposite materials are synthesized using the powder metallurgy route followed by microwave assisted rapid sintering. Mechanical property characterizations reveal an improvement of 0.2% yield strength, ultimate tensile strength and ductility with the addition of Ni-CNTs. As such, Ni-coated CNTs can be used as a reinforcement in magnesium to improve the formability of the material for light-weight, strength-based applications.

The article analyzes the approaches to the interpretation of the concept of differentiation. The own interpretation of the concept of differentiation of development of branches as process of development of the enterprises on indicators of efficiency of use of actives, own capital, labor resources, efficiency of manufacture and possibility of creation of new kinds of production is offered. The components of the processing industry of the agro-industrial complex of Vinnytsia region are studied and the main ones are determined. The main factors influencing the development of differentiation of enterprises of the processing industry of the agricultural sector are analyzed. The analysis on the basic financial indicators of activity of the processing enterprises of agrarian sector of Vinnytsia region depending on the size of the organizations is carried out. Prospects for the privatization of distilleries in Ukraine are highlighted. The possibility of product differentiation at the enterprises of agro-industrial complex processing with orientation on creation of new productions is substantiated. The low level of management of distilleries was confirmed and the prospects of privatization of these organizations in accordance with the current legislation were outlined. It is determined that the main promising area of sectoral differentiation of the processing industry of the agro-industrial complex is the formation of sugar, meat processing, agricultural and alcohol industries on the basis of raw materials - production of biofuels (biogas, bioethanol). These studies show that the developed areas of differentiation of processing enterprises will avoid the practice of concealing profits at enterprises, increase revenues to the state budget from the alcohol industry; achieve growth in foreign investment. Improving the management of enterprises in the agro-industrial processing industry will contribute to the growth of the gross regional product and the profitability of production in the processing sectors of the agricultural sector. This will increase the energy independence of the region, reduce energy costs of distilleries, improve the environmental condition of water resources in the region, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and provide the livestock industry with protein feed.

Armah’s The Beautyful Ones are not yet Born is a novel known for its extensive portrayal of the ills and anomalies in the Ghanaian society right after independence. The majority of studies on the novel have overwhelmingly concluded that corruption is the preoccupation of the text. This view appears skewed in many respects. This paper argues that the corpus assisted approach can contribute methodologies to support objective investigation of the subject matters of the text. This study, adopting the corpus-assisted approach in a mix of numerical data and qualitative description of Armah’s The Beautyful Ones are not yet Born, used frequencies of the occurrence of pejorative terms in the text to determine the dominant subject matters in the novel. The approach reveals that “rot” and “decay” are the most dominant motifs used, followed by “filth”, “corruption”, and “bribery”. It suggests that clusters, i.e., recurrence of words, characters’ association with the words, and context of use serve as textual cues in thematic exploration. The approach aids in revealing that the real intent of The Beautyful Ones Are Not Yet Born is that the total breakdown of the society rests on seemingly insignificant characters. The paper has implications for methodological approaches to thematic analysis of literary texts, particularly, the novel.

The article is devoted to the development of methodological approaches to the use of unique natural resources (characteristics) of territories that are capable of being embodied in the consumer properties of food products produced at enterprises located in these territories. The development and production of such goods creates real prerequisites for the formation of a reputation, both of enterprises themselves and of the territories (regions) where they are located. Based on the reputation formed due to the unique natural characteristics of the area, it is recommended to develop trademarks, create regional product brands with the aim of using them in promoting goods with unique consumer properties to other regional markets, including foreign ones. The conditions and rules of registration of the name of the place of production of goods, the reflection of the toponym in the brand name are described; an overview of regional Altai product brands is presented, including the unique natural properties of the area in their consumer properties. The provision that the most acceptable for the initial presentation of Altai in other regional markets is Altai honey. As the main form of promoting Altai honey to other regional markets, it is proposed to use value-added chains. It substantiates the provision that regional product brands promoted to other regional markets, including foreign ones, contribute to the formation and development of the image of the territory, in this case, the Altai Territory. The material presented in the article can be used in the development of specific methodological proposals for solving the problems of the development of territories and enterprises located on them.

The paper features theoretical and methodical approaches to the
classification of regions from positions of modern region studies. It contains social and economic characteristics of the Republic of Crimea as an agrarian region. The author has monitored the current state of agrarian and industrial complex of the Republic of Crimea. The research has revealed that although agriculture is responsible for 17,1 % of the gross regional product, only 5,0 % of labor capacity of the region are engaged in the agrarian sphere of economy, and only 6,3 % of Crimean students major in agriculture. A complex analysis of the Crimean agrarian complex has revealed that the problem of qualified personnel deficiency is not acute for the regional economy, as there is an agricultural institute, as well as a number of minor vocational education institutions. A more relevant task is to improve the quality of training of young specialists and to attract them into rural areas; for this purpose a system and target
approach to agrarian education has been established in the region. The transformation of agricultural education in the republic should be based on the model of a wellbalanced interindustrial staffing plan of agrarian and industrial complex according to sustainable development programs of rural territories in the re gion.
