Impact of Chatbot in Transforming the Face of Retailing- An Empirical Model of Antecedents and Outcomes

Chatbot has emerged as a significant resolution to the swiftly growing customer caredemands in recent times. Chatbot has emerged as one of the biggest technological disruption. Simply speaking, it is a software agent facilitating interaction between computers and humans in natural language. So basically, it is a simulated, intellectual dialogue agent functional in a range of consumer engagement circumstances. It is the easiest and simplest means enable interaction between the retailers and the customers. </p><p> • Purpose- Most of the research work done in this field is concerned with their technical aspects. The recent research on chatbot pay little attention to the impact it is creating on users’ experience. Through this work, author is making an effort to know the customer-oriented impact that the chatbot bear on the shoppers. The purpose of this study is to develop and empirically test a framework that identify the customer oriented attributes of chatbot and impact of these attributes on customers. </p><p> • Objectives- The study intends to bridge the gap between concepts and actual attributes and applications on the subject of Chatbot. The following research objectives can address the various aspects of Chatbot affecting the different characteristics of consumers shopping behaviors: a) Identify the various attributes of chatbot that bears an impression on consumer shopping behavior. b) Evaluate the impact of chatbot on consumer shopping behavior that leads to the development of chatbot usage and adoption among the customer. </p><p> • Design/Methodology/Approach – For the purpose of analysis, author has administered Factor analysis and Multiple regression using SPSS version 23 for identification of various attributes of Chatbot and knowing their impact on shoppers. A self-administered questionnaire from the review of literature is developed. Industry experts in the field of retailing and academician evaluate the questionnaire. Primary information from the respondents is gathered using this questionnaire. The questionnaire comprises of Likert scale on a scale of 1 to 5 where 1 stands for strongly disagree and 5 stands for strongly agree. Data is collected from 126 respondents, out of which 111 respondents were finally considered for study and analysis purpose. </p><p> • Findings – The empirical results show that the study identifies various attributes of chatbot like Trust, Usefulness, Satisfaction, Readiness to Use and Accessibility. It is also found that chatbot is really influencing the customers in providing them with shopping experience, which can be very helpful to the businesses for increasing the sales and creating repurchase intention among the customers. </p><p> • Originality/value – The recent research on chatbot pay little attention to the impact it is creating on customers who are actually interacting with it on regular basis. The research paper extends information for understanding and appreciating the customer oriented attributes of artificially intelligent Chatbot. In this regard, the author has developed a model framework and proposed the attributes identified. Through the work, author is also making an effort to test empirically the impact of the identified attributes on the shoppers.

With the fast development of IoT technologies and the potential of real-time data gathering, allowing decision makers to take advantage of real-time visibility on their processes, the rise of Digital Twins (DT) has attracted several research interests. DT are among the highest technological trends for the near future and their evolution is expected to transform the face of several industries and applications and opens the door to a huge number of possibilities. However, DT concept application remains at a cradle stage and it is mainly restricted to the manufacturing sector. In fact, its true potential will be revealed in many other sectors. In this research paper, we aim to propose a DT prototype for instore daily operations management and test its impact on daily operations management performances. More specifically, for this specific research work, we focus the impact analysis of DT in the fitting rooms’ area.


The Royal Signals and Radar Establishment (RSRE) has for many years been the focus within the Ministry of Defence for research on electronic materials and devices. This research has led to a number of successful transfers of technology to industry with tangible benefits accruing to the economy of the U.K. Specific examples are described, covering liquid crystals, semiconductors, pyroelectrics and materials processing, together with an example outside the field of electronic materials: photon-correlation spectroscopy. The route followed for commercial exploitation is outlined in each case, and an attempt made to quantify the benefits of the impact of this research originally paid for by the U.K. defence budget. The paper concludes with a brief description of an initiative that has been taken recently to foster commercial exploitation of the research work done in defence R & D establishments.


It is hardly a generation ago since scientific research began to come into general use, at least in the larger companies, as a means of enhancing profits. Many of us will have actually seen it grow from small beginnings in our own businesses, or will at least remember those who did. It probably started tentatively in the face of many doubts and difficulties, but when its benefits, in the form of new products, were clearly seen, it was encouraged to grow. Then, as the years went by, it became in many cases the Juggernaut which seemed to have the power to keep rolling under its own momentum; and now, for the last decade, we have seen a spate of literature designed to show us how to steer it and control its speed. It tended to run away because almost all the judgements about its size were subjective and often emotion-laden opinions. So, to counter-balance them, control is being sought through the introduction of more objective criteria. The purpose of this paper is to discuss a few of the ways in which a multi-product marketing oriented business has set about trying to control the resource of scientific research as a means to success. This control falls into three categories: (1) the size of the research department; (2) the portfolio of research projects; (3) the efficiency of the research work done in the department.

Computable general equilibrium (CGE) models have been widely used in economic policy analysis in recent years. The selection of the model is based on the CGE model’s ability to see the effects on sectors, household groups, governments, and even able to see the overall economic impact for a time period. In Malaysia, the issues arise from the impact of policies analysed in the CGE modelling framework have been constrained in part by the completion of a Social Accounting Matrix (SAM). The main purpose of this paper is to propose a new Malaysian CGE model framework to analyse the impact of implementation of GST on government revenue and welfare of targeted household groups of B40 and M40 in Malaysia. The CGE model developed in the present paper is based on more recent data in Malaysian SAM (2014). Then the data was modified to suit with Malaysian CGE for GST, namely the MYGST_CGE model. This paper describes the structure of MYGST_CGE, with 33 activities, 33 commodities, 7 types of labour, and 7 categories of household groups were constructed. The CGE utilized in the present study can be applied to answer questions concerning whether GST implementation would have the trade-off between government revenue and the targeted groups by taking into account the elements of GST such as standard-rate, zero-rate and exempted rate. For the purpose of policy analysis, simulation exercises are conducted using the multi-sectoral, multi-factorial and multi-households approach. Based on the proposed framework model review, the instruments used for measurement of effectiveness and welfare were C-efficiency ratio, regressive, progressive, equivalent variation and simulations. The paper will give an opportunity for future research work in a related area.

The article presents the results of research work to optimize the working dimensions of the sealing working bodies of the dammer. A ski-shaped sealing sheet and a cone roller are used as working elements to seal the outer and inner parts of the temporary sprinkler dam. The sealing sheet of the sliding working body compresses, thanks to the presence of the inclined cheek SH and eliminates the restoration of compacted soil with the EC section. When the sealing sheet moves along the surface of the dam slope, it is immersed under the action of its own weight or the pressure force of the additional loader (spring) by the value h1, the soil layer with the thickness h1 is pressed into the body of the dam. In this case, the nature of the impact of the compacting cheek of the face on the lump of soil depends on the value of the angle αl of its inclination to the horizon and the speed of movement. To seal the outer part of the dam, take a cone roller as a working body. To substantiate the parameters of the conical working body, conical working elements were manufactured with a change in the large diameter of the truncated cone and different sizes of sealing sheets. During operation, the roller rotates on its axis with sliding and has no torque on the shaft. To find out the effect of sliding on the value of the longitudinal movement of the compacted soil particles on the surface of the dam, the nature of the effect of the base of the conical part of the roller on them is graphically considered.

Individuals are changing their approach to food and this phenomenon does not affect only consumption of good food, but also purchasing behaviour. The presence of products that support a healthy lifestyle is one of the main factors people take into account when choosing a retailer. As a consequence, the market is characterized by the proliferation of healthy store formats. However, very few studies have tried to analyze shopping experience inside these stores and its antecedents. Moreover, no studies have tried to investigate how the healthiness of the assortment impact on shopping experience. Thus, the present work aims to understand the impact of healthy assortment, healthy in-store communication and atmosphere on shopping value (both utilitarian and hedonic) and the effect of shopping value on customer&rsquo;s satisfaction and loyalty to the store. For the purpose of the present study, a total sample of 101 shoppers was interviewed inside a new healthy store format developed in Milan by a leading French retailing company in 2017. Data were analysed using SmartPLS package. Our findings suggest that hedonic attitudes, formed favourably by perceptions of the healthiness of the assortment and products value, have a positive impact on satisfaction and loyalty to the store.

Novel textiles have received a lot of attention from researchers in the last decade due to some of their unique features. The introduction of intelligent materials into textile structures offers an opportunity to develop multifunctional textiles, such as sensing, reacting, conducting electricity and performing energy conversion operations. In this research work nanocomposite-based highly piezoelectric and electroactive β-phase new textile has been developed using the pad-dry-cure method. The deposition of poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) − carbon nanofillers (CNF) − tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), Si(OCH2CH3)4 was acquired on a treated textile substrate using coating technique followed by evaporation to transform the passive (non-functional) textile into a dynamic textile with an enhanced piezoelectric β-phase. The aim of the study is the investigation of the impact the coating of textile via piezoelectric nanocomposites based PVDF-CNF (by optimizing piezoelectric crystalline phase). The chemical composition of CT/PVDF-CNC-TEOS textile was detected by qualitative elemental analysis (SEM/EDX). The added of 0.5% of CNF during the process provides material textiles with a piezoelectric β-phase of up to 50% has been measured by FTIR experiments. These results indicated that CNF has high efficiency in transforming the phase α introduced in the unloaded PVDF, to the β-phase in the case of nanocomposites. Consequently, this fabricated new textile exhibits glorious piezoelectric β-phase even with relatively low coating content of PVDF-CNF-TEOS. The study demonstrates that the pad-dry-cure method can potentially be used for the development of piezoelectric nanocomposite-coated wearable new textiles for sensors and energy harvesting applications. We believe that our study may inspire the research area for future advanced applications.

The weight reduction concept is most effective to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases from vehicles, which also improves fuel efficiency. Amongst lightweight materials, magnesium alloys are attractive to the automotive sector as a structural material. Welding feasibility of magnesium alloys acts as an influential role in its usage for lightweight prospects. Friction stir welding (FSW) is an appropriate technique as compared to other welding techniques to join magnesium alloys. Field of friction stir welding is emerging in the current scenario. The friction stir welding technique has been selected to weld AZ91 magnesium alloys in the current research work. The microstructure and mechanical characteristics of the produced FSW butt joints have been investigated. Further, the influence of post welding heat treatment (at 260 °C for 1 h) on these properties has also been examined. Post welding heat treatment (PWHT) resulted in the improvement of the grain structure of weld zones which affected the mechanical performance of the joints. After heat treatment, the tensile strength and elongation of the joint increased by 12.6 % and 31.9 % respectively. It is proven that after PWHT, the microhardness of the stir zone reduced and a comparatively smoothened microhardness profile of the FSW joint obtained. No considerable variation in the location of the tensile fracture was witnessed after PWHT. The results show that the impact toughness of the weld joints further decreases after post welding heat treatment.

This paper presents a quantitative study in measuring the perception of Malaysian SME towards ecommerce as an innovation and factors affecting the adoption of it. It is concerned with initiatives that are intended to help SME in Malaysia to adopt E-commerce as an innovation. The research has two main emphases: First, it presents some preliminary findings on the perception of Malaysian SME towards E-commerce as an innovation; and the level of confidence towards E-commerce as an innovation. Second, it streamlines various initiatives by Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Small and Medium Industries Development Corporation (SMIDEC), BankNegara Malaysia and local governments in accelerating the acceptance of E-commerce by Malaysian SME. The study engaged 38 SME participants through a survey using a self-administered questionnaire. 32% of the surveyed SME are from the Type 1 Industry; comprising manufacturing, manufacturing related services, and agro-based services and about 68% are from Type 2 Industry comprising services, primary agriculture, and ICT. The self administered questionnaire consists of two sections. Section I contains demographic information and SME specification while Section II contains 37 items: 31 items utilised Likert Scales items ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5(strongly agree), and six items utilised defined interval scales. Rogers' attributes of innovations (2003): relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, trial ability and observability were used in the construct of the research instrument. This research emphasizes on Rogers'framework, as it was found useful where the study sought to understand the diffusion and use of Ecommerce by Malaysian SME in the investigation. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse and present empirical data of the 38 SME. The results from the quantitative data provided information on addressing barriers to SME, and confirmed the characteristics of Rogers' adoption categories. The study shows that the instrument which was designed with seven constructs lacked internal consistency in two determinants: relative advantage and observability. Findings interpreted through Rogers' theory suggest that an action plan should include initiatives to help SME towards E-commerce as an innovation.

Subject. This article discusses the issues related to the practice of financial reporting in the face of uncertainties caused by the coronavirus contagion, as well as the specifics of the audit strategy and formation of an audit opinion on this reporting. Objectives. The article aims to identify the quality characteristics of financial reporting prepared in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and justify the key aspects of assurance engagement completion in an extremely uncertain epidemiological and economic situation. Methods. For the study, we used an abstract-logical method, content analysis techniques, systematization, and classification. Results. Analyzing the impact of the extremely uncertain epidemiological and economic situation on financial statements, the article clarifies aspects of disclosure of events after the reporting date and threats to business continuity in the annual reporting of economic entities. The article identifies possible alternative procedures and algorithms to obtain proper evidence when it is insufficient in the face of the inability to meet certain audit standards requirements in a remote audit environment. The article defines the impact of COVID-19 risk disclosure on the structure of the audit report and opinion. Relevance. The results of the study can be used in the practical activities of economic entities that prepare financial statements in the face of significant uncertainty, as well as auditors and audit organizations.
