During the Civil War, the entire North constituted the homefront, an area largely removed from the din and horror of combat. With a few exceptions of raids and battles such as Gettysburg, civilians in the North experienced the war indirectly. The people on the homefront mobilized for war, sent their menfolk off to fight, supplied the soldiers and the army, coped without their breadwinners, and suffered the loss or maiming of men they loved. All the while, however, the homefront was crucially important to the course of the war. The mobilization of northern resources—not just men, but the manufacture of the arms and supplies needed to fight a war—enabled the North to conduct what some have called a total war, one on which the Union expended money and manpower at unprecedented levels. Confederate strategists hoped to break the will of the northern homefront to secure southern independence. Despite the hardships endured in the North, this strategy failed. On the homefront, women struggled to provide for their families as well as to serve soldiers and the army by sending care packages and doing war work. Family letters reveal the impact of the war on children who lost their fathers either temporarily or permanently. Communities rallied to aid soldiers’ families but were riven by dissension over issues such as conscription and emancipation. Immigrants and African Americans sought a new place in U.S. society by exploiting the opportunities the war offered to prove their worth. Service in the Union army certainly advanced the status of some groups, but was not the only means to that end. Nuns who nursed the wounded improved the reputation of the Catholic Church and northern African Americans used the increasingly emancipationist war goals to improve their legal status in the North. The Civil War altered race relations most radically, but change came to everyone on the northern homefront.

Restaurant business has been an integral part of any urban economy. Like in any other sector, women form a major portion of the workforce in this business also. Although women’s participation in restaurant business is not quite a recent phenomenon, yet the many facets of issues and challenges that women face in their workplaces still remains a problem that demands immediate solution. These issues and challenges however take various forms and may vary depending upon the variability of the place, culture or nature. Using various qualitative techniques, this paper attempts to explore the status and challenges women table servers experience in restaurants that are located in an emerging city. Dibrugarh, in the state of Assam, is an emerging city located in the North East of India. Added to the intricacies of an emerging city, Dibrugarh also has its own uniqueness of nature, culture and society, which adds to the complexities of a city in formation. In such a scenario, it also becomes pertinent to examine the perception of the people of the city on women table servers who are on a mission to be independent and self reliant. This paper finds that women, braving many issues and challenges, are slowly but steadily curving a niche for themselves in restaurant business in this part of the country.

I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, as it is known, is taken from the name of national hero I Gusti Ngurah Rai who is a very influential figure for the people of Bali Island. I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport currently has 11 taxiways which are divided into 9 taxiways on the North runway / North (2 parallel taxiways, 2 rapid exit taxiways, and 5 exit taxiways) and 2 taxiways on the South runway. This writing uses primary and secondary data which will be analyzed by descriptive analysis method. Descriptive analysis method is research that is intended to collect information about the status - the status of a symptom that exists, namely the state of symptoms according to what they were when the study was conducted. The author also uses the pavement design application in the form of FAARFIELD and COMFAA to support the research method used. Therefore, to be able to receive loads from aircraft passing through taxiways, it is necessary to calculate the planing of the pavement on the taxiways that will be built so that they are able to withstand the loads that will be received for flight safety and fulfill the age of the plan itself. The new taxiway parallel to the south of the runway needs to be built to support the operational activities of the annual IMF (International Monetary Fund) activities and taxiway overlaying in all North taxiways. In addition, it is expected to reduce the number of aircraft carrying out cross runways from the southern apron to the northern apron or to the northern taxiway parallel.

Fines are sanctions or punishments that are applied in the form of the obligation to pay a sum of money imposed on the denial of a number of agreements previously agreed upon. There is debate over the status of fines in Islamic law. Some argue that fines may not be used, and some argue that they may be used. In the context of fines for delays in payment of taxes, in fiqh law it can be analogous to ta'zir bi al-tamlīk (punishment for ownership). This can be justified if the tax obligations have met the requirements. Whereas according to Islamic teachings, fines can be categorized as acts in order to obey government orders as taught in the hadith, and in order to contribute to the realization of mutual benefit in the life of the state. As for the amount of the fine, the government cannot arbitrarily determine fines that are too large to burden the people. Penalties are applied as a message of reprimand and as a means to cover the lack of the state budget.

SUMMARYNon-city starosty of Tyszowce was located in the province of Belz and received the status of royal land in 1462. Its territory included the town of Tyszowce and villages: Mikulin, Perespa, Klatwy and Przewale. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries the starosty suffered from a significant increase of various negative phenomena. The crown lands had bitterly tasted devastating fires, epidemics, contributions, requisitions, robberies and field devastations. All these disasters were caused mainly by war and military activities. Marches of soldiers and quartering of troops greatly contributed to the situation and were usually associated with the need of maintaining the soldiers. The requisitions of food, alcohol, cattle, horses and poultry were particularly burdensome for the people. The greatest economic devastation as regards the resources of the starosty and its people was caused by monetary contributions, usually several times higher than the financial capacity of the town and its inhabitants. This work focuses on damages to the starosty caused by the royal cavalry. According to the literature, it is clear that the behavior of the troops in Tyszowce Starosty was not different from the behavior of soldiers in other areas of Poland. It must be admitted that the reprehensible behavior of the army was influenced by many conditions, from the recruitment of people from backgrounds often involving conflict with law, as well as foreigners, to the accommodation system under which the soldiers were forced to supply themselves “on their own.”
