Abstract

The development of technology, especially information technology (internet), gradually unintentionally gives influence to education either directly or indirectly. The influence is clearly visible one of them to the method of learning. Learning methods that used to be done only face-to-face in the classroom and make the educator as a center of information (conventional) gradually begin to change towards learning that is also on-line based on the internet as an information center (E-Learning internet based). In STKIP PGRI Sumatera Barat E-Learning internet based learning method itself has been introduced and implemented since 2014, but has not been maximally optimized. This is because the method does not have a standard in its implementation, and also conventional face-to-face learning method can not be abandoned completely, hence there is overlap between the two. Accordingly, this study developed a model of learning that combines the concept of conventional learning with the concept of E-Learning internet based called Blended Learning. Blended Learning model is expected to be a solution to the above problems, so that the learning process can be implemented effectively. This research is research and development research (R & D) with the outcome is a product that is learning model design.

Blended learning is basically a combination or mixture found in learning practice. Blended learning is a further development of the e-learning method, namely learning methods that combine e-learning systems with conventional or face-to-face methods. The purpose of this study was to determine the validity of the models and learning devices both in terms of content and model constructs, as well as to find out student responses to the model developed. The model developed was validated through a forum mechanism, namely, focus group discussion (FGD) which was followed by researchers and experts. The suggestions and improvements generated from the validation activities were then followed up to revise the Inquiry Collaborative Tutorial-based blended learning model. Inquiry Collaborative Tutorial-based blended learning model and learning devices developed in this study have met valid criteria in content and construct. Valid content because there are elements of need and novelty, as well as valid constructs because there is consistency between parts of the model and there is relevance between the models developed with learning theories that underlie it. In general, the average student responds positively to the blended learning model based on the Inquiry Collaborative Tutorial. The model applied is considered to provide opportunities for students to actively participate.

To prevent the spread of Covid-19, various universities and schools began to implement e-learning. This is the application of application-based learning. There are many universities that have organized this learning model program and have passed their students' thesis and dissertation examinations by utilizing this technological sophistication. This paper explains the nature of e-learning model, both its characteristics, strengths, weaknesses and its benefits in preventing the spread of Covid-19. Basically, e-learning has two types, namely synchronous and asynchronous. The Synchronous is learning process all at once between lecturers and students (on line at the same time). Whereas the asynchronous is not at the same time. Students can take different time from lecturers. It can be concluded that e-learning can be used to prevent the spread of covid-19, because there is no face-to-face learning when giving material. E-learning also has several advantages over conventional learning systems. However, e-learning also has shortcomings, such as the lack of interaction between students and teachers even between other students, tend to ignore the social aspects and foster individual aspects, the teaching and learning process tends towards training rather than education, and several other shortcomings.

The industrial revolution is all life activies using teknology, including in educational institutions that have to improvise learning model. Learning is a process of imitating the example of educators in teaching students' knowledge, attitudes and skills.Lecturers are educators who have the authority to change the way of thinking and how to act towards the development of superior character, so lecturers need competency in the learning model. The learning model requires direct interaction so that the process of seeding values, culture and language manners occurs correctly. This model can be called an offline-based learning process. Offline learning has limited access to reference sources from websites and learning requires face-to-face learning. The referral source facilities available in the campus library are limited, while the online-based referral resource facilities are provided by UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. This learning model provides global and fast access while learning and searching for various reference sources. The learning model is blended learning. Blended learning is mixed learning that combines conventional, face-to-face learning models with remote learning using internet networks. Lecturers use an offline process in the form of face to face at the beginning of the lecture to explain the learning scenario. After that, learning uses the e-learning website facility that is owned by UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. This research approach uses qualitative, the type of research is a case study. This research will work to find facts on how the implementation of learning activities through blended learning at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. The findings show that the blended learning model is implemented by developing a combination of conventional approaches, namely face-to-face learning using website-based learning, e-learning at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, which then succeeded in improving the quality of student learning.

This article aims to review the potential of a Blended learning model implementation in Indonesian higher education institutions during the time of Covid-19. This conceptual paper attempts to explain the concept of Blended learning in terms of theory and practice, based on the literature discussed in several reputable international journals. Blended learning is defined as a learning model integrating face-to-face instruction with an online learning environment or e-learning. Initially, this model proposes to improve the deficiencies of a traditional learning model which is lack of technological resources, and at the same time to develop the gap of e-learning practice which is lack of a face-to-face learning experience. In the blended instruction, students will learn through face-to-face interaction in the classroom and supported by digital media such as a Website, Video, or Learning Management System (LMS). Meanwhile, the use of technologies is ordinarily applied for students' learning and peer-interaction outside of the class, especially for online discussion and homework submission. This method emphasizes that learning activity should not only occur in the classroom but also outside of the class through the digital device.

This article reports on the use of blended learning in higher education. Blended learning has become popular in higher education in recent years. It is a move beyond traditional lecturing to incorporate face-to-face learning with e-learning, thereby creating a blend of learning experiences. The problem is that learning in higher education is complex and learning situations differ across contexts. Whilst there is face-to-face contact at some institutions, others offer distance learning or correspondence learning. In each context, the mode of learning may differ. The challenge is to cater for various learning opportunities through a series of learning interactions and to incorporate a blended approach. The aim of this study was to examine various ways of defining blended learning in different contexts. This was done through an examination of experiences of the use of blended learning in different higher education contexts. The study presents a case of blended learning in a postgraduate course. The experiences from all these cases are summarised and conclusions and recommendations are made in the context of blended learning in higher education in South Africa.
