Scientific skills literacy is one of the skills that students need to have to support the learning process. This study aims to explain the literacy skills of the students through project experience with the help of local potential-based teaching materials. This research is a quantitative study and it used quasi-experimental design, pre-and posttest design. ANCOVA analysis was used as the data analysis technique at a significant level of 5% (p <0.5). Analysis prerequisite tests included the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test for normality test and homogeneity of variance with Levene's-Test. All data testing was done using the SPSS version 23.0 for Windows. The results of the study show that the experience of project activities has a significant effect on the scientific literacy skills in three competencies. These competencies are to explain scientific phenomena, evaluate and design scientific investigations and interpret scientific evidence and data. Competence in evaluating and designing scientific investigations has the greatest significance compared to the other two competencies.

This study aims to analyze the specifications of energy modules in life systems integrating religious values on students’ scientific literacy. The research method uses a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest and posttest, with 50 seventh grade students in Islamic-based schools as research subjects. The data obtained were then analyzed using quantitative descriptive. The results of this study indicate that the application of energy modules in living systems integrating religious values is effective on the scientific literacy of students based on the average n-gain score of 0.44 which falls into the medium category. The scientific literacy competence of students in this study sequentially from the highest is to explain scientific phenomena with a percentage of 68.62%, then interpret data and scientific evidence with a percentage of 53.64%, and evaluate and design scientific investigations with a percentage of 41.67 %. Learning by using this module can improve students’ learning outcomes by making learning situations more active so that it is easier to understand the concept of energy in living systems. The research concludes that the application of energy modules in life systems integrating religious values is effective on students’ scientific literacy.

Scientific literacy is a person's ability to understand science, communicate science, and apply scientific knowledge to solve problems so that they have high attitudes and sensitivity to themselves and their environment in making decisions based on scientific considerations. This study aims to determine the understanding of high school students regarding scientific literacy and to determine the effect of high school students' interest in learning on science literacy learning outcomes. This study involved 201 high school students in Surabaya, Sidoarjo and Gresik. This study uses a mixed-method, namely, by using a quantitative approach and a qualitative approach. Quantitative analysis was perform using regression and correlation tests. The qualitative research obtains from questionnaires and interviews with students. The answers from students categorized into four levels, namely a score of 0 (did not answer the questions), score 1 (responded to questions but not quite right), score 2 (answered correctly) and score 3 (answered correctly) with exact categories). From the research results, it can conclude that students' understanding of scientific literacy is still low. The regression test where the significance value is 0.095> 0.05, which means that there is no influence of students' interest in learning on the results of students' scientific literacy skills, while the correlation test shows that the correlation between students' interests and the effects of scientific literacy skills (r) is 0.118. This indicates that there is a shallow relationship between students 'interest in learning and the consequences of high school students' scientific literacy skills. This research recommended that students can improve their understanding of scientific literacy by getting used to reading scientific literacy before learning begins so that students' interest in reading scientific phenomena increases.

Environment-based learning is needed to increase student’s activity through environmental empowerment, which can solve the problems in society as well as to improve students’ scientific literacy. The objective of this research was to analyze the effectiveness of environment-based thematic learning on fourth grade by contextual approach in improving students' scientific literacy skills. This research is a quasi-experimental research by implemented Environmental-Based Thematic Learning Tools (EBTLT). The subject of this research is determined by purposive cluster. They were 25 students as control class, 33 students as the experiment class 1, and 27 students as the experiment class 2. The data analysis was used completeness test, N-Gain analysis, and independent sample t-test. The results showed that the first experimental class and second experimental class students achieve classical completeness > 75%, the value has increased after implemented EBTLT in high category. The average score of science literacy skills and student activity in both experimental class was higher than that of the control class. It can be concluded that students who received EBTLT more effective in improving science literacy skills than students who received basic learning and the activities can create character values for learners

Local wisdom-oriented learning in elementary schools in the city of Ternate has not been implemented optimally. In general, schools have implemented thematic learning that should contain local wisdom. Ethnopedagogy is the actualization of learning oriented to the cultivation of local wisdom values. Ethnopedagogic aproach in elementary schools need to be implemented through strategies and innovative learning media that are able to attract students' attention to understand and apply local wisdom. This study aims to integrate Cloves as an identity flora in North Maluku in the implementation of an ethnopedagogic aproach at elementary schools in Ternate. This study uses a qualitative approach with a mixed method of research instruments consisting of observation sheets and questionnaires. Data analysis technique with concurrent triangulation strategy. The results showed that the ethnopedagogical approach implemented through learning activities using cloves as a spice study object in North Maluku was an effective alternative to local wisdom-based learning applied in elementary schools in Ternate city. Through the integration of cloves in an ethnopedagogical approach, it can improve scientific literacy skills and students' learning motivation. This study recommends that the ethnopedagogical approach can be implemented with innovative learning activities based on local wisdom.

This study aims to analyze the scientific literacy skills of students at MTs N 2 Ponorogo. Science literacy is individual ability to apply the principles of science in everyday life, especially in making decisions and get involved in science issues. This research is fundamental in determining students' scientific literacy skills which are an important ability in facing the challenges of the 21st century. The research method used is qualitative with a naturalistic design. The subjects of this study were 9 students using techniques purpossive sampling. The data collection techniques used were tests and interviews. In addition, science teachers also play a role as supporting subjects. The test in this study used a scientific literacy test adapted from PISA. The test is only on the aspect of scientific competence with indicators explaining scientific phenomena, evaluating and designing inquiry approaches, interpreting data and evidence scientifically. Meanwhile, interviews were conducted in an unstructured manner. Data analysis used Miles and Huberman's model, namely data reduction, data presentation, conclusion and verification. The results showed that students had an average scientific literacy ability of 76.85 in the "good" category"

Abstract Students’ low scientific literacy competence and the unavailability of electronic teaching materials that match scientific literacy indicators that can be used in online learning encourage researchers to develop electronic teaching materials to improve students’ scientific literacy. This research aims to produce and describe the appropriateness of electronic teaching materials used in the learning process to enhance scientific literacy. The electronic teaching materials developed are based on scientific literacy indicators, namely explaining scientific phenomena, interpreting data and providing scientific evidence, designing and evaluating scientific investigations. The type of research used is research and development of the ADDIE model. The appropriateness of electronic teaching materials in terms of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Research data was obtained from validation sheets given to three validators, student response questionnaires and learning outcomes tests. The data were analyzed by validity test, practicality test, and effectiveness test using N-gain score. The results showed that: 1) the validity of teaching materials obtained a score of 3.52 in the very high category, 2) the practicality of electronic teaching materials based on student response questionnaires obtained a percentage of 80.81% in the practical category, 3) the effectiveness of electronic teaching materials obtained a score of 0.44 in the medium category and the students’ scientific literacy ability 44.11% in the medium category. Based on the results of the study, impulse and linear momentum electronic teaching materials have been produced to improve students’ scientific literacy that is appropriate for use in the learning process. This research has implications, namely increasing students’ scientific literacy, especially on impulse and linear momentum material.
