Pair Programming has been shown to increase productivity and code quality not only in professional software development but also in the context of programming education. The provision of broadband Internet access gave rise to Distributed Pair Programming (DPP) enabling two programmers to collaborate remotely. To gain insight into the benefits of DPP, we performed an empirical study on an object-oriented programming course where 62 students carried out assignments through a DPP platform. The goal of the study is to investigate, in the context of DPP, whether prior programming skills (assessed at the level of student, his or her partner and pair) and pair compatibility are related to student performance. To further examine the effect of DPP on learning outcomes, we have studied whether a pair’s performance on DPP assignments is related to the students’ grade. The findings indicate that the student’s actual skill and the pair’s actual skill affect his or her performance in an object-oriented programming course. The results also suggested that there is no association between pair compatibility and his or her own performance. Finally, pair performance on DPP assignments is related to the individual student performance in the final exams. Such evidence can be used to guide instructors when planning DPP assignments and especially when forming student pairs.

There are a very limited number of instruments to assess individual performance in simulation-based interprofessional education (IPE). The purpose of this study was to apply the Simulation-Based Interprofessional Teamwork Assessment Tool (SITAT) to the individualized assessment of medicine, pharmacy, and nursing students (N = 94) in a team-based IPE simulation, as well as to explore potential differences between disciplines, and calculate reliability estimates for utilization of the tool. Results of an analysis of variance provided evidence that there was no statistically significant difference among professions on overall competency ( F(2, 91)  =  0.756, P  = .472). The competency reports for nursing ( M = 3.06, SD = 0.45), medicine ( M = 3.19, SD = 0.42), and pharmacy ( M = 3.08, SD = 0.49) students were comparable across professions. Cronbach's alpha provided a reliability estimate of the tool, with evidence of high internal consistency ( α = .92). The interrater reliability of the SITAT was also investigated. There was moderate absolute agreement across the 3 faculty raters using the 2-way mixed model design and “average” unit (kappa = 0.536, P = .000, 95% CI [0.34, 0.68]). The novel SITAT demonstrates internal consistency and interrater reliability when used for evaluation of individual performance during IPE simulation. The SITAT provides value in the education and evaluation of individual students engaged in IPE curriculum.

This study investigates how the perception of authentizotic climate (camaraderie spirit; leader trust and credibility; the open and frank communication with the leader; learning opportunities and personal development; equity / justice; work-family conciliation) explain the innovative behavior and individual performance. The data was analyzed from a questionnaire answered by 128 employees of a multinational. The results suggest that (1) the employees perception of camaraderie spirit explain their innovative behavior, (2) the fairness / justice perception and open and frank communication with the leader explains the individual performance, (3) the innovative behavior influences individual performance. In spite of the study limitations, empirical evidence suggests that organizations should promote the authentizotic climate, particularly the camaraderie spirit, the open and frank communication with the leaders and the equity/justice, if they want employees to adopt more innovative behavior and improve their individual performances.

New teaching and learning techniques are developing day by day with the support of information technology and the Internet. Many universities take the advantage of support of information technologies on teaching and learning environments. Each individual’s physical, mental and emotional skills are different. It is emphasized that, more importance are given to individuals performances while they are in groups in those places where the traditional teaching approaches is dominated. At this point, individual performance of individuals and their different learning abilities could not be evaluated alone and left in the background. In these places, it is also stated the importance of learning in groups but not individually. The attitude of an individual towards the computer could be defined as a positive or negative view of the individual on the computer technology or the computer-supported applications. In the development of the attitude of the students, their personal characteristics, perception of computers, frequency of their use of computers, their sex, age and previous experiences play an important role. Some experts find it striking that when attitudes towards the computers are investigated, the researches are concentrated more on teachers and teachers-to-be, while studies on establishing the attitude of students are limited in number. For that reason, this study focuses on impact of determinants of student performance and evaluates this performance through an exploratory research.

In the field of education, assessment is used to evaluate and document the learning progress and educational needs of students. Assessment takes many forms, including direct and indirect methods and summative and formative measures, and occurs across levels from the individual student to the district and state levels. At the individual student, classroom, and school levels, academic assessment data are used to make instructional decisions regarding differentiation, intervention, program placement, and special education eligibility. Specifically, academic skills assessment enables the educator to determine student performance on tasks in the basics of reading, writing, and math against a criterion or standard (e.g., grade-level expectations) and in relation to same age or grade peers. At the district level, high-stakes statewide assessment data are used for accountability purposes, such as documenting adequate student progress. Additionally, statewide assessment results often are used to “grade” and rank schools and may influence decisions regarding allocation of resources and school choice vouchers. The purpose of this annotated bibliography is to provide an overview of general resources for academic assessment as well as more-specific resources for differing modalities and methods of assessment, applications, and implications for policy and practice. The bibliography includes seminal and contemporary references from educational publishers and peer-reviewed sources.
