The study attempted to identify the factors determining the development of CBEC B2C e-commerce in the world and in Poland. The level of CBEC development in selected countries has been shown. CBEC is a dynamically developing trading sector in the world. Countries differ in terms of CBEC development, which is due to the varying levels of selection of the products in their internal markets and the economic development of a particular country. CBEC’s worldwide development is also largely due to the international B2C electronic marketplaces. The barriers to the development of CBEC in the world include inadequate regulations to CBEC specificity, problems and costs of logistics and difficulties in conducting online marketing on foreign markets.

Companies are increasingly using international webpages as a tool to communicate with their local target groups. Quite often they seem to assume that internationalization just means translating the existing content – but in reality it means much more: A deliberate selection of contents, design and structure, including key messages, pictures and videos, fonts and style as well as technical features, SEO and interactivity are crucial for a successful online appearance in foreign markets. Using practical examples from all over the world, Ulrike Reisach, Professor for International Management and Corporate Communications, and long-time director for leading international companies, explains what has to be considered in order to get your company’s international webpage right. The notion of international relationships is supplemented by other phenomena during the last time. One of them is globalisation, called on by technological, social and cultural changes, which have shortened the economic distance among countries. The improvement of transport and communication technologies has decreased transport costs of goods, people and information. Traditional governmental policies limiting the cross-border transactions were liberalised or removed what in consequence brought about the growth of international trade and foreign direct investments (FDI). Globalisation changes the properties of the world economy and influences the core of the successful economic approaches to development, what increases the need to secure the sustainability of economic development.

This paper analyzes the methodological and publication trends in the literature on cross-border mergers and acquisitions over three five-year periods, 1996–2001, 2001–06, and 2006–11. Based on a selection of 23 journals and a sample of 170 articles, we use advanced cross-tabulations to study the publication and methodological trends that have emerged in North America, Europe, and other regions. Our main findings are as follows. A+-rated journals tend to accept the use of regression as a key technique. Top-tier journals accept papers primarily in finance and accounting and international business. Researchers’ interest in international business has increased at a rising rate, and increased at a falling rate in finance and accounting. The publication of conceptual quantitative articles has increased significantly by 45 percent over the 15-year period. About 98 percent of the total sample uses modeling as a methodology and is accepted by A+- and A-rated journals. Cross-sectional studies are more popular than longitudinal studies. The financial institutions industry has been studied the most in all parts of the world and at an increasing rate over the period under review. Researchers’ interest in manufacturing industries has, however, declined over the 15 years in all regions.

Ben Jonson's early plays show a marked interest in prose as a counterpoint to the blank verse norm of the Renaissance stage. This essay presents a digital analysis of Jonson's early mixed-mode plays and his two later full-prose comedies. It examines this selection of the Jonsonian corpus using DocuScope, a piece of software that catalogs sentence-level features of texts according to a series of rhetorical categories, highlighting the distinctive linguistic patterns associated with Jonson's verse and prose. Verse tends to employ abstract, morally and emotionally charged language, while prose is more often characterized by expressions that are socially explicit, interrogative, and interactive. In the satirical economy of these plays, Jonson's characters usually adopt verse when they articulate censorious judgements, descending into prose when they wade into the intractable banter of the vicious world. Surprisingly, the prosaic signature that Jonson fashioned in his earlier drama persisted in the two later full-prose comedies. The essay presents readings of Every Man Out of his Humour and Bartholomew Fair, illustrating how the tension between verse and prose that motivated the satirical dynamics of the mixed-mode plays was released in the full-prose comedies. Jonson's final experiments with theatrical prose dramatize the exhaustion of the satirical impulse by submerging his characters almost entirely in the prosaic world of interactive engagement.

For nearly three decades, English has been the lingua franca of cross-border business, yet studies on global language strategies have been scarce. Providing a rare behind-the-scenes look at the high-tech giant Rakuten in the five years following its English mandate, this book explores how language shapes the ways in which employees in global organizations communicate and negotiate linguistic and cultural differences. Drawing on 650 interviews conducted across Rakuten's locations around the world, the book argues that an organization's lingua franca is the catalyst by which all employees become some kind of “expat”—detached from their native tongue or culture. Demonstrating that language can serve as the conduit for an unfamiliar culture, often in unexpected ways, the book uncovers how all organizations might integrate language effectively to tap into the promise of globalization.

We carried out the comparative analysis of crisis theories, forecasted the economic development of the IMF, the World Bank, the Audit Chamber, and considered analytical agencies in dynamics, taking into account adjustments when the crisis manifests itself. Counteraction methods are reviewed from theoretical and practical perspectives. The article also analyzed the international expertise in crisis management. Conclusions and Relevance. The economic crisis was found to be at its initial stage, with negative scenarios being more probable. Proposed and implemented, local measures can mitigate the economic decline, prevent massive bankruptcies and a social explosion. Meanwhile, measures to restructure the economic policy may contribute to overcoming the crisis. The findings can be used by federal government bodies to adjust economic policies, develop programs and strategies for the socio-economic development of regions, and economic security strategies for corporations.
