The article deals with issues related to research methodology in the financial field. An important aspect of the author's approach is a new look at the research, which is proposed to be considered as prospective and current. The argument for this approach is the need to combine traditional basic and applied research into a group of prospective, ie those that result in some long-term goals and can usually result in scientific novelty. Instead, current research is no less practical. It is through current research that the necessary measures are being implemented. This applies to technical, technological, organisational, economic and financial measures, which ultimately provide some improvement in the activities of any entity. The characteristics of prospective and current research are given, which determine the differences between them. In particular, such characteristics are: the expected result, the tools for the study and the composition of researchers - performers of prospective or current research. Based on the division of research into prospective and current, the different directions of these types of scientific and practical research are determined. It is noted that the formulation of tasks of different purpose and nature requires the definition of certain pre-defined sets of research methods. Narrowing of methodical tools can lead to erroneous results. Instead, an integrated approach, formulated not only for a hypothetical goal and potential outcome, but also for the choice of research methods, is an important safeguard against erroneous conclusions. To do this, a matrix has been developed, in which complexes of research methods (for several examples) have been formed, which will allow to obtain the most substantiated result of the research, both prospective and current. Such examples are: economic and social efficiency of financial research, public policy in the field of finance, funding schemes for research. A study of well-known empirical and theoretical research methods has been carried out, from the standpoint of the peculiarities of financial research in scientific and practical activities. In particular, examples from the financial sphere of possible searches, with the help of general methods of analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction and analogy, are investigated and given. From empirical methods examples of directions of possible researches, with use of comparison, experiment, modeling, are considered and resulted. The generally accepted and special characteristics of research in the field of finance are considered. Among them are important for financiers the concept of science and the need to master the scientific approach to financial research; the nature and characteristics of the research process; scientific (theoretical) base and financial aspects of research; research priorities; directions of research of natural and social sciences; stages of scientific research; methodological approach to the study of efficiency in finance. These issues are important for researchers, as well as for students and graduate students studying in financial educational-professional and educational-scientific programs.

Purpose: The aim of this publication is to present the results of theoretical research – evaluation of normative and legal documents used for the design and installation of voice alarm systems (VAS) in selected European countries. The aim of the research was to analyze and compare the functioning of voice alarm systems in Poland against the background of selected European countries. Introduction: Voice alarm systems are systems installed in buildings that enable the broadcast of warning signals and voice messages for the safety of people in the building. Mandatory use of voice alarm systems in selected buildings became applicable in Poland on January 16, 2006. In Europe, these systems have been present before. Over the years, there has been development of both the devices included in the systems, as well as the normative documents and legal acts that describe these systems. Methods: Within the research process, theoretical research was used, such as: analysis of literature and legal documents, synthesis, generalization, inference, comparison and analogy. As part of the research, documents from such countries as Poland, Great Britain (mainly England), Sweden, Norway, Germany and the Netherlands were analyzed. The selection of individual countries was guided by the level of development of these systems in a given country and the availability of source documents. Conclusions: The presented analysis of the requirements for the use of voice alarm systems shows how different the approach to the use of this type of systems is. Depending on individual experiences and the administrative structure of a given country, a variety of regulations, whether legal or normative (not always normative documents issued by state standardization institutions), can be seen in the field of voice alarm systems application. Unfortunately, one can get the impression that voice alarm systems are still not as popular as fire detection systems. The definition of the requirements for buildings in which the use of voice alarm systems should be obligatory and the requirements for the determination of the required level of speech intelligibility consti- tute the basis for the consistent development of this type of fire protection equipment. Such requirements should be specified either in legal regulations or in normative acts dedicated to voice alarm systems. This paper utilized a non-empirical theoretical research framework for the purpose of examining possible solutions to the ethical and methodological dilemmas facing educational researchers. Two questions guided the examination: a) How relevant is research ethics in education research? and b) Which paradigm is a good fit for education research? A study of over two decades of seminal works and conference presentations revealed that education research is subject to the same professional code of ethics and guidelines as other Human and Social Sciences Research; therefore, educational researchers should avoid questionable practices by adhering to the “relativist utilitarian ethics of consequences” in the research process. While no single paradigm was identified as a good fit for education research, the quantitative–qualitative continuum, mixed–methods research, and alternative ways of teaching research methods courses were considered as possible approaches for addressing the methodological dilemmas that educational researchers encounter. Instructors of research methods courses are therefore expected to reflect on and re-evaluate the different ways in which philosophy, pedagogical strategies, and learning goals influence the redesign of their course.

The necessity and advantages of using the methodology in conducting financial research in modern conditions, in particular regarding the functioning of the fiscal mechanism for regulating investment processes, are determined. It is established that the methodology is considered by scientists in two approaches: 1) as a doctrine of research methods, which is inextricably linked with philosophical science; 2) as a set of research methods used in any science. The etymology of the concept of “methodology” is considered and approaches to the interpretation of its content are critically comprehended. It is substantiated that the structure of the research methodology, in particular the fiscal mechanism of regulation of investment processes, covers three aspects: functional, logical and process. The functional aspect of the research methodology is determined, which covers its consideration as a set of principles and methods aimed at achieving a specific practical or theoretical goal of research work. The logical aspect of research methodology is highlighted, which contains its understanding as a set of forms of organization of research work. The process aspect of research methodology is determined, which implies its interpretation as a series of successive stages aimed at achieving a certain practical or theoretical result of research work. Based on the study of reference and scientific literature, the author's definition of research methodology of the fiscal mechanism for regulating investment processes is proposed as a specific doctrine, which covers a set of principles, methods, forms and sequential stages of research (cognitive) activity, used to identify scientific facts, their theoretical justification and practical implementation. The functions of research methodology of the fiscal mechanism for regulating investment processes is established. The functions of research methodology of the fiscal mechanism for regulating investment processes are established. The factors of successful application of the methodology as “art” in the study of the fiscal mechanism for regulating investment processes are considered.

In this chapter, the authors describe the specific research skills to be developed for prospective principals in preparation for effective data use for school improvement. Relevant background information is provided regarding effective data use leadership, definition of data literacy, standards for principal preparation in data use, research on teaching research methods, and a comparison of the research process and the data-informed decision-making (DIDM) process. These skills are organized and reported in the chapter by steps in the DIDM research process. These steps include goal setting/problem formation, using previous research, planning for data collection, obtaining or collecting data, analyzing data (transforming data into information), and interpreting/taking action/making decisions.

The purpose of the article is to systematize theoretical and methodological principles and justify the application of an integrated approach to assess the investment attractiveness of enterprises. Among the approaches we can highlight the following ones: cost, spatial, income, factor, matrix, integral, analytical, approach, which is based on determination of the current and future status of investment attractiveness of enterprises, comparative, approach, which is based on the system of qualitative and quantitative indicators that is applied to assess the investment attractiveness of enterprises, approach, which is based on the application of the correlation and regression analysis method, an investment-based approach. In order to determine the investment attractiveness, it is proposed to use an integral approach based on appropriate methods and models that allows us to estimate the integral indicator for the formation of the estimated basis for increasing the investment attractiveness of the subjects of management. The methodological approach to the integrated assessment of the investment attractiveness of enterprises is proposed. It is based on the definition of the integral indicator and the application of analytical, expert and hierarchy analysis methods by modelling the investment attractiveness indicators. This approach enables to form informational and analytical support for the development of the enterprise management strategy. It has been determined the information and analytical support for estimating the investment attractiveness of enterprises on the basis of accounting and financial reporting, data on the application of technologies and means of production, level of preparation and use of workers, features of the material and technical base, directions of interaction between different groups of interested persons, information regarding the application of scientific and technical development, which ensures the security of the corporate information system, the quality and completeness of information.

Purpose. Formulation of the main conditions for the emergence of cooperatives, study of its features in the perspective of economic security of cooperative enterprises and its inherent specific risks, definition of basic measures to ensure economic security in the cooperative. Methodology. The study used general and special research methods: the method of critical analysis, scientific abstraction and generalization of scientific experience of modern theoretical research, system-integrated approach. Findings. From many economic factors, the main conditions for the emergence of coopetition are distinguished; its features are identified, which can significantly affect the level of economic security of cooperative enterprises. The existing organizational and legal forms of association of enterprises with different degrees of strength and development of structural and functional relations in the application of coopetition and their classification are studied. Specific risks of economic security of business activity at cooperative are defined. Based on the research, a list and content of the main measures to ensure economic security in the cooperative are formulated. Originality. The given definition of co-operation, in contrast to the existing ones, reveals its security essence as a strategy of coopetition, which allows optimal use of resource potentials of interdependent entities of consolidated management structures with respect to the acceptable level of their economic security. The features and specific risks of coopetition identified in the article in the perspective of economic security of cooperating enterprises allow adjusting the task of increasing the level of their protection, and contribute to the development of a strategy for maximum security of coopetition of interconnected business structures. Amethodological approach was further developed to choosing organizational and legal forms of establishing enterprises with different capacity and development of structural and functional links when applying cooperation. Practical value. Theoretical provisions of the study on specific risks and the content of the main measures to ensure economic security can be used in strategic and tactical planning of enterprises in coopetition.

Modern trends in consumer behaviour and the new business environment in Russian regions and territories focused on local food production have led to increased attention to territorial branding. At the same time, there are virtually no scientific justifications for territorial branding of food products, which has resulted in a lack of methodological recommendations for product branding by local producers and, consequently, in the inefficient practical solutions as regards territorial branding concepts. The lack of a territorially relevant definition of product branding and criteria for selecting food products for branding turned the authors to their own interpretations based on theoretical research. The testing of the methodical approach coupled with empirical research provided evidence of the correctness of the approach selected and the criteria for consumers’ preferences in choosing food products, in particular, certain groups of food products manufactured in Krasnoyarsk

Introduction. This article makes a null hypothesis about the impossibility of the existence of material and technical resources as an independent object of study, because these resources cann’t be profitable or social effective without other resources. It is clear that material and technical resources become productive when interacting with financial, informational, innovative, time and other types of resources. The emergence of alternative energy sources, constant change of laws, improvement of construction technology, constant struggle for resources, changing financial vectors place new demands on the material and technical resources of construction and require new approaches to accounting and control. The purpose of the study is to formulate a definition of «material and technical resources» and identify their relationship with other resources in construction. Research methods. In the article has been used general scientific and specific research methods, in particular: comparison – to study of theoretical research of the conceptual and categorical apparatus of material and technical resources, and also assets and resources; graphic - to study the amount of capital investment in housing; analysis and synthesis - to identify ways of interaction of material and technical and other types of resources. Results of the research. In the study detected differences in the definition of «resources» and «assets». It is recognized that the concept of «resources» is broader than – «assets», which allows to distinguish these two definitions for future analysis of their components. Based on the analysis of the concepts of «material» and «technical» resources, the author’s definition of «material and technical resources» is formulated. To existing definitions is added that material and technical resources are one of the main elements of entrepreneurial potential, and also that their use brings not only profit, but also social effect, especially in construction. In addition, the relationship between logistics and other resources has been disclosed. The null hypothesis has been proved, it’s about material and technical resources which are not effective without connections with other resources, and their potential is assessed under the condition of interaction with financial, informational, organizational and time resources. Perspectives. In future studies, it’s advisable to disclose the genesis of material and technical resources; identify the main problems of their formation and efficiency of use; to assess the dynamics and trends of the behavior of analytical indicators and make appropriate proposals; develop a model of the relationship of material, technical and financial resources in accounting and control etc.

The present article discusses the experience of redesigning the pedagogy and learning tools of a pillar course at the School of Design of XXX, the Metadesign studio course.  Metadesign is a design methodology that leads to the concept definition of a new product or service, through a research process that synthesizes design goals, technological and productive constraints, market context and consumption trends for a consumers’ group of reference. It represents a unique methodological approach characterizing the design education as it provides a consolidated research practice able to support the design process. The course structure foresees the reconstruction in phases and successive elaborations of all the elements of context that come into relation with the object of the design process (product, space, service, communication artifact…) influencing its characteristics and creating the “abacus” of elements that make its development possible. In line with the ever-increasing need to reshape the whole education system through the paradigms of digital transformation, and due the acceleration the COVID-19 emergency pushed to the request for on-distance courses, the article presents a renewed reverse course structure, highlighting strengths and opportunities for further improvements that represent a solid base for innovating a fashion design education.

The research methods landscape has the potential to be quite diverse. However, the paradigmatic battles between the two empirical research camps (quantitative and qualitative) and the more recent embracement of mixed-methods research has narrowly focused many fields’ attention, including that of composition studies, away from other sorts of useful methods, such as theoretical research. To address this, this sequential two-part study compares and contrasts the (a) purpose, (b) instruments, (c) data, and (d) structure of quantitative and qualitative research. Drawing on this four-part structure, this study advances composition studies research methods literature by posing and testing a definition of theoretical research through an examination of full-length core composition studies texts (N = 12). The article concludes by explaining the study’s relevance to the field and offering directions for future research.
