LANGUAGE NOTE | Document text in Chinese; abstract also in English. China, with a civil history of 5000 years, has rich cultural resources. Chinese culture differs from Western culture in the content of thought, the means of thinking and the form of expression. Generally, Chinese culture is not an analytical, discursive, dualistic system. Rather, it is characteristic of an entire, comprehensive monism. In the humanities, the Chinese have integrated literature, history and philosophy into one system, making them an integral whole. As the main body of Chinese culture, Confucianism, Daoism and Buddhism agitate and annotate each other, becoming a cultural unity. Finally, the core of Chinese culture is the thought of morality. The important ideas of Chinese culture include the following. First is the unity of heaven and human. From the Chinese view, nature as a big cosmos and human as a small cosmos are closely bound up and regarded as an organic whole. The concept of "the unity of heaven and human" runs through the every aspect of human social life: political, economic, custom, moral as well as the relation between human and nature.Second is the unity of mind and body. Under this view, the body and the mind are interdependent. It emphasizes that the life is an integral whole and cannot be separated sharply between mind and body. The process of life is the process of keeping balancing and harmonizing between body and mind. The third is the unity of knowing and doing. This idea takes that knowing and doing cannot be taken separately, they must be linked up with each other. A focus is give to practice - knowing is always serving for the purpose of doing. Finally, Chinese culture carries rich concepts of life. These characteristics exert great influence on bioethics. Take the issue of euthanasia as an example. Should euthanasia be moral and legal? How should we choose euthanasia? From the Chinese view, these are in-depth problems concerning at least how we should understand human life as a unity of mind and body. A terminal patient usually has both bodily and psychological suffering. If we only attempt to relieve his bodily suffering by offering euthanasia, we will cut apart his whole life and be unable to embody the humanistic spirit of medicine.DOWNLOAD HISTORY | This article has been downloaded 57 times in Digital Commons before migrating into this platform.

AbstractDissociative psychopathology is understood as an immature defence mechanism of personality, based on the techniques of reality distortion. The natural cause of a disorder reflects the lack of sense of coherence between identity, memory, awareness, perception and consequently - goal orientated action. Its symptoms manifest the separation of emotions, thoughts and behaviours bound with an event in order to maintain an illusory sense of control of demanding and unbearable experience. We describe the case of a 57-year-old woman suffering from broad range of dissociative symptoms from early childhood. Decomposition of integrity between memories, a sense of self-identity and control of the body has become the cause of numerous suicide attempts, multiple psychiatric hospitalizations and not fully effective therapy attempts. Destructive influence of psychopathological symptoms negatively influenced patient’s life course, decisions made as well as family, work and social life.

AbstractFollowing the theory of conceptual metaphor in cognitive linguistics, this paper studies a predominant conceptual metaphor in the understanding of the heart in ancient Chinese philosophy: THE HEART IS THE RULER OF THE BODY. The most important conceptual mapping of this metaphor consists in the perceived correspondence between the mental power of the heart and the political power of the ruler. The Chinese heart is traditionally regarded as the organ of thinking and reasoning, as well as feeling. As such, it is conceptualized as the central faculty of cognition. This cultural conceptualization differs fundamentally from the Western dualism that upholds the reason-emotion dichotomy, as represented by the binary contrast between mind and heart in particular, and mind and body in general. It is found that the HEART AS RULER metaphor has a mirror image, namely THE RULER IS THE HEART OF THE COUNTRY. The ruler as the "heart" of the country leads his nation while guided by his own heart as the "ruler" of his body. It is argued that the two-way metaphorical mappings are based on the overarching beliefs of ancient Chinese philosophy in the unity and correspondence between the microcosm of man and the macrocosm of universe. It is suggested that the conceptualization of the heart in ancient Chinese philosophy, which is basically metaphorical in nature, is still spread widely across Chinese culture today.

Activity of human social life is currently mediated by internet technology. Mediation has created space in the activities of social life which previously had an activity in the body replaced by activities in cyberspace. Instagram is a technological social space in the posfenomenological dimension of cyber space. Instagram as social media mediates its user body to be shared with other users. Instagram is a mode of reduced social interaction and transcends bodily space, programmed body, identity constructed in digital form. The metrosexual man enters the Instagram room to image himself and share it with other users. This research analyzes how metrosexual man activities in consumption and presents his identity in cyberspace. This study uses a virtual ethnographic method by tracing metrosexual male Instagram accounts through the hashtag #priadewasa #ganteng. This method can explore deeper about subject interactions on Instagram. The result is identity and consumption activities in the form of fashion, the places they visit are presented making it their class that has their own tastes in activities shared on Instagram. The liquid space provided by Instagram renders de-identification. Instagram space gives a different space unlike theworld off-line. Human life is never static, the dynamics of human life are changes that can never be avoided. These changes are a process of human adaptation to the movement of the surrounding environment. One form of human adaptation is to create technology that aims to simplify and improve the quality of life. Keywords: Instagram, Metrosexual, Identity, Consumption ABSTRAKAktivitas kehidupan sosial manusia saat ini termediasi teknologi internet.

Sleeping is one of the most important factors that influence the quality of human life, and this state of existence should be thoroughly investigated to improve the quality of the life. The mechanical design of bedding has great influence on the comfort of a mattress. Thus, objective and conventional techniques to evaluate the mechanics of mattress comfort could help improve the quality of sleep. In this report, an analysis technique for the assessment of the sleeping posture of humans is presented to facilitate the development of mattress design technology. Herein, an analytical model which imitates the human body has been formulated to determine the design parameters of a mass-spring-joint system on a soft underlay. The physical model is composed of five components that represent the head, chest, hip, femur, and calf, with each body part being represented by a simple ball model. The spring joint connecting the five parts reflects the neck, lumbar, hip, and knee joints. The specifications of the body model are determined by actual measurements and previous studies. In order to determine the physical properties of the mattress, two types of mattress urethane foam material are tested using the ball indenter method. The parameters include Young’s modulus, plateau stress, and other physical parameters. Variation due to the type of mattress has been observed in the laying test using a pressure distribution sensor sheet. In the analysis performed using the physical model, the variation in the lying posture and the extent of body sinking are observed to be the same during experiments. Both variations are compared using the change in force distribution in each body part. In conclusion, it was found that the observed changes in distribution are the same in the experimental and physical models. Therefore, the proposed model reliably reflects the design characteristics of the mattress.

This paper argues that the ‘biopsychosocial’ model of the body highlights the importance of the psychosocial dimension for a better understanding of health and illness. Most importantly, by emphasising the fundamental relevance of values in the make-up of living systems, the biopsychosocial model radically challenges the common sense operation of evidence-based biomedical operations that bifurcate the body into the subjectivities of human perceptions and the non-subjective qualities of the nature of bodies. The biopsychosocial model protests against the manner by which only non-subjective qualities gain explanatory power in analysing, diagnosing and treating somatic and mental health issues. To accentuate the explanatory importance of values in understanding embodied human life, I will introduce Émile Durkheim’s seminal work about human society as a realitysui generisthat introduces the scientific realm for a ‘special psychology’ (Durkheim) to analyse ‘values’ as an emergent accomplishment of human social life. Still, as important Durkheim’s account is in understanding societal values, it is only partially valid for the biopsychosocial model since it iterates the common sense operation of bifurcation by dismissing individual perceptions as valid sources to gain knowledge about the realities of human social values. To avoid bifurcation and to give importance to the subjectivities of every mode of existence, I will introduce Tarde’s monadology that emphasises the value-laden psychosocial processes and societal organisation in understandingallbodies and things—human and non-human alike. A monadological reading of the body universalises the ‘biopolitics’ of human affairs and unfolds what I call the ‘cosmopolitics of existence’. With the shift from the biopolitics of human affairs to the cosmopolitics of existence this paper wishes to contribute to novel ways of thinking the biopsychosocial body beyond bifurcating mind and nature.

As far as the human mind is developed, the area of the miraculous and supernatural is wider and immense for it; therefore, all the incomprehensible and striking phenomena of him belong to him to the action of a higher, mysterious power. This is the origin of the world outlook of primitive peoples, in whom, over the course of time, invisible abstract forces were recognized as deities governing the fate of people, at which there usually arose the influence of deities on good and evil, clean and unclean. Deities have their servants angels and gods. Evil spirits and their incarnations in the image of bots, according to the primitive peoples and uncultured popular masses, have great influence on human life; unhappiness, death and illness depend on them. Sumtsov) says that diseases have long been among different peoples in the form of demonic beings. The spirits of darkness are doctors of health and life; they penetrate into the body of a person and serve as a source of illnesses, they darken the mind and torment the body. Already in the brick books of the ancient Chaldeans, there are conspiracies against diseases, like demonic beings. Among the Iranians, magic spells and cleansing from illnesses were widespread, like unclean demonic creatures. Among the Greeks and Romans, illnesses also had a demonic meaning, In the ancient Scandinavians, internal illnesses were attributed to the action of evil spirits and treated them with conspiracies and sympathetic means. In England in the X and XI centuries and later internal illnesses were considered directly caused by evil spirits, elves, demons, spells of sorcerers or the pernicious influence of the evil eye. The Slavs, in particular the Russians, share the demonic origin of illnesses with all other peoples.

Problem setting. One of the distinguishing features of the modern era is the marginal and dubious nature of explanations of complex social realities. Cognitive and symbolic specifics of conspiratorial thinking, marked by a sense of predictability, regularity and explicit simplicity, contribute to the development and dissemination of political mythology. Recent research and publications analysis. In recent decades, concepts have been actively used in the body of social science works: paranoid style, conspiratorial narrative, power discourse, unstable ontologies, crisis of production of meanings, conspiratorial worldview. The latest scientific search takes place in the context of abandoning the strict framing of conspiracy theories in favor of a pluralistic approach that combines epistemic, existential and social dimensions of the subject. Paper objective.  The aim of the article is to try to identify the features of conspiracy in the latest conditions of cultural development. Paper main body. The article shows the features of modern conspiracy theories in terms of its paradoxical stability, information and cognitive attractiveness. It is emphasized that the conspiracy discourse determines the peculiarities of the conspiratorial mentality, influencing, in particular, the existential aspects of human life. The consequences of the influence of conspiracy theories can be not only feelings of alienation from politics or radicalization of society, but also the blurring of semantic boundaries between conspiracy theories and more respectable forms of socio-political criticism. Such features make it possible to distinguish positive and critical understandings of conspiracy theory, as well as to outline the main vectors in further theoretical studies of conspiracy theories. Among the distinctive features of conspiratorial meaning formation are the cultural-temporal universality, the paradoxical combination of irrational and rationalist ways of perception, and others. The peculiarities of conspiratorial thinking in comparison with the radical-constructivist specifics of the explanation of the world, as well as in the communicative-narrative logic are analyzed. The difference between conspiratorial meaning formation and the picture of the world in unstable ontologies is shown. Differentiated conspiracy narrative and political imagination. Particular attention is paid to the phenomenon of agency in the context of a multi-vector model of social organization. Conclusions of the research. The dynamics of the multifaceted study of conspiracy correlates with the growing awareness that conspiratorial narrative tends to grow significantly and affect society and culture. The stability and success of the conspiracy narrative is ensured by the realization of the claim to "correct" understanding, which makes it quite convincing, and therefore in demand. Conspiracy theories, manifested in various ways of agent communication, range from simple conspiracy through complicity to structural prejudices and ideologies.
