Nagasari (Mesua ferrea L.) is one of the biodiversity to be developed as an antiseptic preparation. These plants are known to contain flavonoid compounds, tannins, and terpenoids that act as antibacterial. Hand sanitizer gel preparations can increase the effectiveness of topically. The physical properties of a good gel depend on a gelling agent, one of which is HPMC. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in HPMC levels on physical properties and antibacterial activity. Gels were prepared with various HPMC levels of 1%, 2%, and 3%. The gel was tested for physical properties and stability. All formulas produced preparations that met the requirements for good physical properties and stability. Testing of antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus showed that an increase in HPMC levels could decrease the ability to release the active substance of the preparation. The diameter of the inhibition zone obtained was 10.0 mm (HPMC 1%); 9.5 mm (2% HPMC) and 8.0 mm (3% HPMC). Increasing the concentration of HPMC will increase the viscosity and adhesion but decrease the spreadability. The three formulas had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus with moderate criteria.Keywords: Extract of nagasari leaf, Gel, HPMC, Staphylococcus aureus

Daun Lidah mertua (Sansevieria trifasciata Prain) diketahui mengandung senyawa polifenol, flavonoid dan saponin yang merupakan agen antibakteri. Lidah mertua memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi ekstrak daun lidah mertua dalam sediaan gel yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terbesar dalam penurunan jumlah angka kuman. Ekstraksi daun lidah mertua menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Variasi konsentrasi ekstrak daun lidah mertua dalam sediaan gel hand sanitizer yang digunakan yaitu F1 (10%), F2 (15%) dan F3 (20%). Na CMC digunakan sebagai gelling agent dalam formulasi. Sediaan gel hand sanitizer daun lidah mertua diuji aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Escherichia coli menggunakan metode difusi sumuran, sifat fisik (organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, daya sebar dan daya lekat) serta penurunan jumlah angka kuman dengan metode swabbing. Hasil uji aktivitas antibakteri gel hand sanitizer ekstrak daun lidah mertua memiliki zona hambat bakteri terhadap Escherichia coli pada F1, F2 dan F3 berturut-turut sebesar 7,33 mm, 8,67 mm dan 9,75 mm. Hasil evaluasi sifat fisik gel daun lidah mertua memenuhi kriteria gel yang baik, namun memiliki daya lekat kurang 1 detik. Hasil penurunan jumlah angka kuman gel hand sanitizer daun lidah mertua paling besar pada F3 sebesar 52%. Namun, analisa statistik dengan Anova One Way menunjukkan bahwa F1 (32%), F2 (35%) dan F3 (52%) tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan dalam penurunan jumlah angka kuman. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan gel hand sanitizer ekstrak daun lidah mertua memiliki kemampuan dalam menurunkan angka kuman dan dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif sebagai sediaan gel hand sanitizer.     Lidah Mertua leaves (Sansevieria trifasciata Prain) are known to contain polyphenols, flavonoids, and saponins which have antibacterial activity. The evaluation of the antibacterial activity of hand sanitizer gel leaves was performed against Escherichia coli using disc diffusion method, meanwhile physical properties (organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, dispersion and adhesion) and a decrease in the germ numbers were determined by swabbing method. The results of the antibacterial evaluation of gel hand sanitizer activity showed that lidah Mertua leaves extract had a bacterial inhibition zone against Escherichia coli in F1, F2 and F3 of 7.33 mm, 8.67 mm and 9.75 mm respectively. The results of the evaluation of the physical properties of the lidah mertua leaves extract showed that the gel met criteria of a good gel, but had adhesion less than 1 second. The highest activity in decreasing term number was shown in gel hand sanitizer of lidah mertua leaves extract at F3 which was 52%. However, statistical analysis using Anova One Way showed that F1 (32%), F2 (35%) and F3 (52%) did not show a significant difference in decreasing germ numbers. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the  hand sanitizer gel from the extract of lidah mertua leaves has the ability to reduce the number of germs and can be used as an alternative as a gel hand sanitizer dosage form

ABSTRAK Ekstrak etanolik daun jeruk purut (Citrus hystrix D.C) mempunyai banyak zat khasiat dimana salah satu zat aktif tersebut berkhasiat sebagai antibakteri. Penggunaan ekstrak etanolik dalam bentuk kental sangat tidak efisien dalam pemakaiannya, sehingga perlu dibuat dalam bentuk sediaan topical, misalnya gel. Penggunaan Karbomer 934 sebagai gelling agent dapat meningkatkan konsistensi basis yang akan berpengaruh terhadap pelepasan zat aktif di dalam gel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi kadar basis Karbomer 934 gel ekstrak etanolik daun jeruk purut terhadap sifat fisik gel dan aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Gel dibuat dalam 4 formula dengan konsentrasi basis Karbomer 934 yaitu 0,5 %, 1%, 1,5%, dan 2%. Gel diuji sifat fisik (organolepstis, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, daya lekat, daya sebar, dan uji hedonik) dan daya antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Data dari uji sifat fisik dan pengukuran diameter zona hambat anti bakteri dianalisis dengan statistika Uji Kruskall-Wallis dan Mann-Withney Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa variasi konsentrasi Karbomer 0,5 %, 1 %, 1,5 % dan 2% sebagai gelling agent gel ekstrak etanol daun jeruk purut berpengaruh terhadap sifat fisik gel dan aktifitas antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Semakin besar konsentrasi Karbomer 934, viskositas semakin besar dengan FI= 3079 cP.s, FII= 8135 cP.s, FIII= 13136 cP.s, FIV= 14307 cP.s, menurunkan daya sebar dengan FI= 5.14 cm, FII= 4.04 cm, FIII= 3.51 cm, FIV= 3.35 cm, meningkatakan daya lekat dengan FI= 0.79 cm, FII= 0.87 cm, FIII= 1.05 cm, FIV= 1.16 cm dan menurunkan efektivitas antibakteri dengan FI= 6.4 cm, FII= 5.1, FIII= 5.8 cm dan FIV= 4.9 cm. Kata Kunci : gel, gelling agent, Karbomer 934, Citrus hystrix D.C , Staphylococcus aureus.   ABSTRCT Ethanolic extract of kaffir lime leaves (Citrus hystrix D.C) Has many active compounds, antimicrobial activity have been reported numerously. Ethanolic extract of Kaffir Lime leaves can’t directly exposure to the human skin. It can be increased of skin rash and eritema. The extract can be formulated in topical product like gel preparation. The aim of this work was to determine the effect of variations in base levels of Karbomer 934 gel ethanolic extract of kaffir lime leaves on the physical properties of gel and antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The gel is made in 4 formulas with a base concentration of Carbomer 934 which is 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2%. Gel was tested for physical properties (organolepstis, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, adhesion, dispersion, and hedonic test) and antibacterial power to Staphylococcus aureus. Measuring the diameter of the antibacterial inhibition zone after incubation at 37ºC for 24 hours. Data from the physical properties test and measuring the diameter of the anti-bacterial inhibitory zone were analyzed by statistical with Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Withney test. The results of this study concluded that variations in Carbomer 934 concentration as gelling agent gel ethanol extract of kaffir lime leaves had an effect on the physical properties of the gel and antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The greater concentration of Carbomer 934, increase the viscosity value with FI= 3079 cP.s, FII= 8135 cP.s, FIII= 13136 cP.s, FIV= 14307 cP.s, decrease the spreadability with FI= 5.14 cm, FII= 4.04 cm, FIII= 3.51 cm, FIV= 3.35 cm, increase in adhesion with FI= 0.79 cm, FII= 0.87 cm, FIII= 1.05 cm, FIV= 1.16 cm and decrease the effectiveness of the antibacterial with FI= 6.4 cm, FII= 5.1, FIII= 5.8 cm dan FIV= 4.9 cm. <p><span id="docs-internal-guid-2cebd816-7fff-d997-4dfd-796d046d0d3b"><span>Daun pucuk idat merupakan tanaman lokal Bangka Belitung yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap </span><span>Staphylococcus aureus </span><span>dan</span><span> Escherichia coli.</span><span>Sebagai upaya pemanfaatan potensi lokal maka dibuat suatu produk sediaan gel </span><span>hand sanitizer</span><span> yang praktis dan ekonomis. </span><span>Ekstrak daun pucuk idat diperoleh dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut aseton. Ekstrak yang dihasilkan diformulasikan dalam berbagai konsentrasi ekstrak daun pucuk idat (40%, 60%, 80%, dan 100%) dengan penambahan </span><span>carboxymethyl cellulose sodium</span><span> (</span><span>CMC-Na) 0,25 g, gliserin 1 mL, propilenglikol 0,5 mL serta akuades        10 mL. Setiap formulasi gel </span><span>handsanitizer</span><span> dilakukan pengujian stabilitas fisik meliputi uji organoleptis, uji homogenitas, uji daya sebar, uji pH, uji iritasi kulit serta uji aktivitas antibakteri.</span><span> </span><span> Hasil uji organoleptik menunjukkan bahwa semua konsentrasi </span><span>hand sanitizer </span><span>berbentuk gel, berwarna kuning muda, berbau dan homogen. Uji pH dan daya sebar gel</span><span> hand sanitizer</span><span> telah memenuhi ketentuan SNI No. 06-2588. Pengujian iritasi kulit tidak menimbulkan kemerahan, gatal-gatal dan tidak mengakibatkan kulit menjadi kasar pada punggung tangan sukarelawan. Berdasarkan uji sifat fisik gel</span><span> hand sanitizer </span><span>yang dihasilkan memiliki sifat fisik yang serupa dengan gel </span><span>hand sanitizer </span><span>komersial. Hasil uji antibakteri hand sanitizer ekstrak daun pucuk idat terhadap </span><span>E. coli</span><span> dengan konsentrasi ekstrak daun pucuk idat 40%, 60%, 80%, dan 100% diperoleh diameter zona hambat berturut-turut sebesar 11,5 mm, 17,4 mm, 19,3 mm dan 19,3 mm, sedangkan pada bakteri </span><span>S. aureus</span><span> diperoleh diameter zona hambat berturut-turut sebesar 17,1 mm, 24,2 mm, 27,4 mm, dan  18 mm. Hasil uji antibakteri menunjukkan bahwa sediaan gel </span><span>hand sanitizer </span><span>ekstrak aseton daun pucuk idat memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri </span><span>E. coli </span><span>dan </span><span>S. aureus</span><span>.</span></span></p><p><span><span><span id="docs-internal-guid-50d6ff2c-7fff-2e66-45f1-73cf49e6527a"><strong>Hand Sanitizer of Leaves Extract of Cratoxylum glaucum as Antibacterial of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. </strong><span>Cratoxylum glaucum</span><span> leaves is local plants of Bangka Belitung which have antibacterial activity against </span><span>S. aureus</span><span> and </span><span>E. coli</span><span>. As an effort to explore local potential, a practical and economical gel hand sanitizer product was prepared. </span><span>Cratoxylum glaucum</span><span> leaves extract was obtained by maceration method using acetone. The extract was formulated in various concentrations of </span><span>Cratoxylum glaucum</span><span> leaf extract (40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%) with the addition of 0.25 g carboxymethyl cellulose sodium (CMC-Na), 1 mL glycerin, 0.5 mL propylene glycol and 10 mL distilled water. Each concentration of the hand sanitizer gel was tested for physical stability including organoleptic, homogenity, spreadability, pH, skin irritation and antibacterial activity test. The organoleptic test results showed that all concentrations of hand sanitizers formed gel with light yellow color, smelly odor and homogeneous form. The analysis of pH and spreadability of hand sanitizer gel has fulfilled SNI No. 06-2588. The skin irritation testing does not cause redness, itching, and rough skin on the back of volunteer hands. Based on the physical properties test, the resulting hand sanitizer gel has physical properties similar to commercial hand sanitizer gel. The results of the antibacterial test of hand sanitizer against </span><span>E. coli</span><span> with </span><span>Cratoxylum glaucum</span><span> leaf extract concentrations of 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% obtained the diameter inhibitory zones of 11.5 mm, 17.4 mm, 19.3 mm, and 19.3 mm, respectively. Meanwhile, the results of the antibacterial test of hand sanitizer against </span><span>S. aureus</span><span> bacteria with concentration of 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% shows that the inhibition zone diameters were 17.1 mm, 24.2 mm, 27.4 mm, and 18 mm, respectively. The antibacterial test results shows that the gel hand sanitizer prepared has antibacterial activity against </span><span>E. coli</span><span> and </span><span>S. aureus</span><span> bacteria.</span></span></span></span></p>

Telah dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi senyawa metabolit sekunder  dari ekstrak daun kaf menggunakan tiga jenis pelarut yakni n-heksan, etil asetat, dan metanol. Ekstrak yang diperoleh diuji aktivitas antibakterinya dengan metode difusi yang menggunakan bakteri Staphylococcusaureus dan Escherichia coli. Dari hasil pengujian fitokimia, ketiga ekstrak tersebut menunjukan bahwa sampel mengandung senyawa; alkaloid, saponin, steroid, flavonoid dan tanin. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri  dengan metode difusi menunjukan hasil yang paling tinggi aktivitas antibakteri adalah  estrak etil asetat dengan zona hambat 35,75 mm terhadap bakteri  Staphylococcus aureus, sedangkan pada ekstrak metanol memiliki zona hambat 23,75 mm terhadap bakteri Escherichia coliResearch has been carried out aimed at identifying secondary metabolites of kaf leaf extract using three types of solvents, namely n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol.The obtained extracts were tested for antibacterial activity by diffusion method using Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. From the results of phytochemical testing, the three extracts showed that the sample contained compounds; alkaloids, saponins, steroids, flavonoids and tannins. Antibacterial activity testing with diffusion method showed the highest antibacterial activity was estracethyl ethyl acetate with 35.75 mm inhibition zone against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, whereas methanol had 23.75 mm inhibitory zone against Escherichia coli bacteria

The discovery of new antibiotic drugs is getting more and more reactive. The plant of the peria laut leaf is one of the drugs that is often used as a traditional medicine and contains bioactive compounds of polyphenols, flavonoids, and saponins, which can inhibit antibacterial growth. Purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of peria laut leaves (Colubrina asiatica L.) against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. Method the experimental, of the sample used was concentrated marine peria laut leaf extract of 25mg/ml, 50mg/ml, 75mg/ml, 100mg/ml, 200mg/ml, 300mg/ml, 400mg/ml, and 500mg/ml, positive control of amoxicillin tablet 500 mg, negative control of dimethylsulfoxide with the method of disc diffusion testing using media Nutrient Agar. Results the showed thet the peria laut leaf extract positively contained bioactive alkaloid compounds, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, and tannins, and had inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus aureus and Escgerichia coli bacteria with various concentrations which had been tested on the average area of the highest inhibition zone of 18,6 mm in Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, and 10,2 mm in Escherichia coli bacteria. Conclusion peria laut leaf extract (Colubrina asiatica L.) has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria in the most inhibitory zone at a concentration of 500mg/ml with a diameter of 18,6 in Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and 10,2 in Escherichia coli.

Kaffir lime (Citrus hystrix DC) is citrus plant of the family Rutaceae that was used as an antibacterial. This plant is native to Indonesia, which contains flavonoids, tannins, saponins, alkaloids, and essential oil. This study aims to determine the ability of antibacterial extract lime leaves against Staphylococcus aureus and to find out the concentration that is most effevtive in inhibiting the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. The research used lime leaves. By drying the leaves at the oven at temperature 45˚C, pulverizing by mesh 40, and extraction by maceration for 5 days with ethanol 96%. This study used a completely randomized design with treatments in variation concentrations of 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% concentration were then used to test the antibacterial activity with disc diffusion. Inhibition zone formed from extracts with concentration of 5% (6,7 mm) 10% (6,8 mm) 15% (7,3 mm) and 20% (8,3 mm). The results of the data analysis showed that the administration of lime leaves extract affected the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, where the value of sig <0,05 obtained a value of sig 0,000. Based on the research, among the others the concentration of 20% was that the most effective in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus that was 8,3 mm. Kaffir lime (Citrus hystrix DC.) leaf extract has antibacterial activity against the Staphylococcus aureus. Concentration extract 20% is an effective concentration to inhibit bacterially

Basil leaves (Ocimum sanctum L) Against to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria to increase its effectiveness, it is made in practical and easy-to-use preparations. One of the effective dosage forms for topical use is Hand Sanitizer. The factor that influences the quality of gel preparations is Carbopol as a gelling agent. To know the antibacterial effect and ethanol extract concentration of basis leaves (Ocimum sanctum L). preparation of Hand sanitizer, in which the selection and type of carbopol concentration will determine the stability of the gel formed. Basil leaf extract was obtained by maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent. The product is formulation in the form a gel Hand sanitizer with the addition of carbopol as a gelling agent with a concentration of 1,5% this type of research is  laboratory Experiment with Stability Test, Organoleptic Test, pH, Homogeneity and Scattering power and Antibacterial Test on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. For testing antibacterial activity the method used is the diffusion method. Form the research results obtained antibacterial Hand sanitizer preparations with concentration of 1%, 3% and 5%  showed changes in odor , color and shape before and after storage at pH 4,8- 6,4. Organoleptic  testing showed no changes in odor, color and shape before and after accelerated storage. pH testing shows charges before and after storage are caused by temperature light factors. Homogeneity testing showed no changes before and after storage. Scatter tests indicate changes before and after storage caused by temperature light factors. Antibacterial activity test shows that the formulation of Hand sanitizer ethanol extract of basil leaves (Ocimum sanctum L) with a concentration of 1%, 3% and 5%. can inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus with Medium -Strong inhibitory zones. From the results of research conducted it was concluded that the antibacterial Hand sanitizer ethanol of basis was physically and chemically stable for Organiletic, pH, Homogeneity and Scattering effects.

Antibiotics have a very important role in fighting bacterial infections in the body. However, the results given so far have not been optimal in overcoming the problem of bacterial infection. An alternative solution is to develop and study plants that have medicinal potential, for example thistle leaves (Calotrophis gigantean). The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of thistle leaf extract against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. This research is a laboratory-scale experimental research that is to test the activity of thistle leaf extract against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus including sample identification, extraction, activity testing by observing the inhibition zone of the two tested bacteria. Based on the results of the study stated that the ethanol extract of 70% Widuri leaves (Calotrophis gigantea) had antibacterial activity and could inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The active compounds that are thought to have antibacterial properties in the ethanol extract of Widuri leaves (Calotrophis gigantea) are flavonoids, alkaloids and terpenoids.   Keywords: Widuri leaves, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Antibacterial ABSTRAK   Pentingnya penanggulangan infeksi bakteri menggunakan antibiotik adalah hal yang lazim dalam terapi farmakologi. Dampak dari pemberian antibiotik masih belum maksimal dalam penanggulangannya terhadap infeksi bakteri. Pemilihan alternatif bahan alam dengan kandungan kimia yang memiliki potensi sebagai antibiotik dapat menjadi pilihan lain dalam mengurangi penggunaan antibiotik sintetik, misalnya tanaman widuri (Calotrophis gigantean). Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak daun widuri terhadap Escherichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus. Desain penelitian meliputi identifikasi sampel, ekstraksi, hingga uji aktivitas dengan mengamati zona hambat dari kedua bakteri uji. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol 70% daun Widuri memiliki aktivitas antibakteri dan dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Escherichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus. Senyawa aktif yang diduga bersifat antibakteri pada ekstrak etanol daun Widuri adalah senyawa golongan flavonoid, alkaloid dan terpenoid. <p><span id="docs-internal-guid-2cebd816-7fff-d997-4dfd-796d046d0d3b"><strong>ABSTRAK.</strong><span> Daun pucuk idat merupakan tanaman lokal Bangka Belitung yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap </span><span>Staphylococcus aureus </span><span>dan</span><span> Escherichia coli.</span><span>Sebagai upaya pemanfaatan potensi lokal maka dibuat suatu produk sediaan gel </span><span>hand sanitizer</span><span> yang praktis dan ekonomis. </span><span>Ekstrak daun pucuk idat diperoleh dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut aseton. Ekstrak yang dihasilkan diformulasikan dalam berbagai konsentrasi ekstrak daun pucuk idat (40%, 60%, 80%, dan 100%) dengan penambahan </span><span>carboxymethyl cellulose sodium</span><span> (</span><span>CMC-Na) 0,25 g, gliserin 1 mL, propilenglikol 0,5 mL serta akuades        10 mL. Setiap formulasi gel </span><span>handsanitizer</span><span> dilakukan pengujian stabilitas fisik meliputi uji organoleptis, uji homogenitas, uji daya sebar, uji pH, uji iritasi kulit serta uji aktivitas antibakteri.</span><span> </span><span> Hasil uji organoleptik menunjukkan bahwa semua konsentrasi </span><span>hand sanitizer </span><span>berbentuk gel, berwarna kuning muda, berbau dan homogen. Uji pH dan daya sebar gel</span><span> hand sanitizer</span><span> telah memenuhi ketentuan SNI No. 06-2588. Pengujian iritasi kulit tidak menimbulkan kemerahan, gatal-gatal dan tidak mengakibatkan kulit menjadi kasar pada punggung tangan sukarelawan. Berdasarkan uji sifat fisik gel</span><span> hand sanitizer </span><span>yang dihasilkan memiliki sifat fisik yang serupa dengan gel </span><span>hand sanitizer </span><span>komersial. Hasil uji antibakteri hand sanitizer ekstrak daun pucuk idat terhadap </span><span>E. coli</span><span> dengan konsentrasi ekstrak daun pucuk idat 40%, 60%, 80%, dan 100% diperoleh diameter zona hambat berturut-turut sebesar 11,5 mm, 17,4 mm, 19,3 mm dan 19,3 mm, sedangkan pada bakteri </span><span>S. aureus</span><span> diperoleh diameter zona hambat berturut-turut sebesar 17,1 mm, 24,2 mm, 27,4 mm, dan  18 mm. Hasil uji antibakteri menunjukkan bahwa sediaan gel </span><span>hand sanitizer </span><span>ekstrak aseton daun pucuk idat memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri </span><span>E. coli </span><span>dan </span><span>S. aureus</span><span>.</span></span></p><p><span><span><span id="docs-internal-guid-50d6ff2c-7fff-2e66-45f1-73cf49e6527a"><strong>ABSTRACT. Hand Sanitizer of leaves extractof Cratoxylum glaucum as antibacterial of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. </strong><span>Cratoxylum glaucum</span><span> leaves is local plants of Bangka Belitung which have antibacterial activity against </span><span>S. aureus</span><span> and </span><span>E. coli</span><span>. As an effort to explore local potential, a practical and economical gel hand sanitizer product was prepared. </span><span>Cratoxylum glaucum</span><span> leaves extract was obtained by maceration method using acetone. The extract was formulated in various concentrations of </span><span>Cratoxylum glaucum</span><span> leaf extract (40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%) with the addition of 0.25 g carboxymethyl cellulose sodium (CMC-Na), 1 mL glycerin, 0.5 mL propylene glycol and 10 mL distilled water. Each concentration of the hand sanitizer gel was tested for physical stability including organoleptic, homogenity, spreadability, pH, skin irritation and antibacterial activity test. The organoleptic test results showed that all concentrations of hand sanitizers formed gel with light yellow color, smelly odor and homogeneous form. The analysis of pH and spreadability of hand sanitizer gel has fulfilled SNI No. 06-2588. The skin irritation testing does not cause redness, itching, and rough skin on the back of volunteer hands. Based on the physical properties test, the resulting hand sanitizer gel has physical properties similar to commercial hand sanitizer gel. The results of the antibacterial test of hand sanitizer against </span><span>E. coli</span><span> with </span><span>Cratoxylum glaucum</span><span> leaf extract concentrations of 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% obtained the diameter inhibitory zones of 11.5 mm, 17.4 mm, 19.3 mm, and 19.3 mm, respectively. Meanwhile, the results of the antibacterial test of hand sanitizer against </span><span>S. aureus</span><span> bacteria with concentration of 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100% shows that the inhibition zone diameters were 17.1 mm, 24.2 mm, 27.4 mm, and 18 mm, respectively. The antibacterial test results shows that the gel hand sanitizer prepared has antibacterial activity against </span><span>E. coli</span><span> and </span><span>S. aureus</span><span> bacteria.</span></span></span></span></p>

The discovery of new antibiotic drugs is getting more and more reactive. The plant of the peria laut leaf is one of the drugs that is often used as a traditional medicine and contains bioactive compounds of polyphenols, flavonoids, and saponins, which can inhibit antibacterial growth. Purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of peria laut leaves (Colubrina asiatica L.) against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. Method the experimental, of the sample used was concentrated marine peria laut leaf extract of 25mg/ml, 50mg/ml, 75mg/ml, 100mg/ml, 200mg/ml, 300mg/ml, 400mg/ml, and 500mg/ml, positive control of amoxicillin tablet 500 mg, negative control of dimethylsulfoxide with the method of disc diffusion testing using media Nutrient Agar. Results the showed thet the peria laut leaf extract positively contained bioactive alkaloid compounds, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, and tannins, and had inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus aureus and Escgerichia coli bacteria with various concentrations which had been tested on the average area of the highest inhibition zone of 18,6 mm in Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, and 10,2 mm in Escherichia coli bacteria. Conclusion peria laut leaf extract (Colubrina asiatica L.) has antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria in the most inhibitory zone at a concentration of 500mg/ml with a diameter of 18,6 in Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and 10,2 in Escherichia coli.
