The article is devoted to the communicative behavior of a mediator, whose professional activity is subject to certain norms, rules and principles. The principle of neutrality in the communicative behavior of the mediator is considered in detail. The efforts of two specialists: a lawyer, a practicing mediator, and a linguist who completed a basic course of mediation is combined in the article. The confidentiality of information related to the mediation procedure determined the choice of the main research methods: linguistic self-observation in combination with reflection of professional experience and included observation of the choice of language, speech and non-verbal means in quasi-real training situations. The study identified verbal and non-verbal means that allow the mediator to remain impartial and independent in mediation. Verbal means of neutrality are analyzed at the macro and micro levels of the language system and the speech activity of the mediator. It was revealed that the principle of neutrality is manifested in the mediator's open message about his role as a neutral intermediary, as well as in special technological methods of mediation: echo technique, resume and idea development. On the subject of neutrality, sound reactions, kinetic, visual and spatial signals of the mediator are analyzed. The restrictions and prohibitions in the communicative behavior of the mediator are determined. The conclusion is drawn about the caution of using the considered tools in specific conflict / dispute situations.

This work is devoted to the study of motivation using conceptual analysis as one of the main research methods in Cognitive Linguistics. The subject of the research is the conceptual cha-racteristics of motivation. The relevance of the research topic is represented by the fact that the is-sue of expressing motivation in speech has been of interest to many scientists for a long time. However, there is no consensus on many issues in the study of motivation. This is due to the fact that linguistic means that represent motivation in differently structured languages are very diverse. Motivation is not always represented by primary means, and native speakers often use secondary structures that need thorough consideration. The question arises how to systematize the knowledge behind motivation and the speech means that express it. To do this, we should turn to modern methods of linguistics which allow us to consider motivation as a system of knowledge. The purpose of the study is to prove that linguistic means that represent motivation can be grouped on the basis of conceptual characteristics of motivation. Research methods: analysis, synthesis, descriptive method, conceptual analysis as the main method. It is proved that conceptual analysis allows to systematize and study the knowledge behind motivation. The results obtained can be used in the study of motivation in English and Russian as part of final qualification works. The following conclusions are made: 1) it is proved that conceptual analysis allows to identify the main conceptual characteristics of motivation; 2) it is proved that motivation can be represented as a cluster concept; 3) it is also proved that a variety of linguistic means convey motivation including secondary lan-guage structures.

The subject under research is the relevant, but insufficiently studied phenomenon of onomastic reflection. The aim is to identify the specifics of onomastic reflexives in the space of fairy-tale texts of V.P. Krapivin in the aspect of language game. The works of V.P.  Krapivin (which he himself denoted as Krapivin’s tales) served as the source. Onomastic constructions (more than 1,500 units), included in the reflexive context of the author’s vision of the proper name, became the material of the research. Contextual and component analysis, as well as the techniques of the descriptive method (observation, interpretation, and systematization) are the main research methods. Based on the material of Krapivin’s texts, the heuristic nominativeness, onomastic loading of texts were first examined from the standpoint of the presentation of the estimated information contained in the metalinguistic statements-reflections on the proper name. The specificity of the studied reflexives is that they can be either explicitly or implicitly expressed estimations, coupled with different textual parameters — from the word-onym (quasi-reflexive) through the onomastic phrase to the detailed evaluative characteristic of the onomastic construction. A special feature of Krapivin’s onym is to be found in the author’s desire to show various functional facets of a proper name: onym-nominative — onym-characterizer. The manifestation of the reflective beginning in the text is carried out in various ways: by directly commenting on the proper name using special lexical means, syntactic constructions, as well as through its graphic (orthofraphic), phonetic design, structuring of the component composition. Associative links of the name, manifested through onomastic reflexives, create the effect of onomastic games.

The article deals with the relationship between the terms «word of the year» and «neologism of the year», and the examples are the words, annually nominating as «word of the year», and neologisms of the last few years. The main research methods are statistical, comparative, and lexicographic description. Usually nomination «Word of the year» presents words, long-existing in the Russian language, borrowings, as well as author’s occasionalisms. The cultural and social aspects prevail in this campaign, while linguistic aspects are not involved. It seems that the verbal image of the year is a more complex and mosaic phenomenon. It can be reconstructed with the help of representative linguistic data scrupulously collected by lexicographers.
