The Seminary influence on the governorate social life development was an integral part of social processes in the period of 1867-1884, which formed the prototype of the modern education practice. Identification of the Seminary role in the Tambov Governorate social life of the 19th century is a research component of this study, which affects the knowledge of the spiritual and moral education of society current state. Manuscript drafting source was the archival data of Tambov eparchy clergy activities of the late 19th century, the periodical press data of the same period. We interpret the obtained sources in the logic of the general civilized approach to the study of Seminary as an institution of social life characterized by regional aspects. Studies of the role of Seminary in social life have shown the sequence of its formation and development, its further socialization in the social life of the governorate. Special importance is attached to the Tambov Seminary in the years of transformations. Spiritual and moral influence of the Seminary on contemporaries, its increasingly active participation in the public life of the city, the change of its moral appearance contributed to the increase in the authority (role) of the Seminary in the social life of the Tambov Governorate.

This chapter focuses on the role that metaphors play in the social relationships of people who use CMC. We analyze the metaphors used by contributors to three different electronic fora when they refer to the process of interaction. One of our main objectives is to show that the study of metaphors allows us to understand how CMC users reach agreement as to the nature of the social space that they inhabit and what behavior is considered to be appropriate or inappropriate in such a space. This chapter will show that metaphors facilitate the construction of social life and allow CMC users to propose norms of behaviour; they also facilitate the process of identification, generate confidence in a group, and orient users to the cultural contexts in which social action takes place.

Children's social development is how early childhood interacts with peers, adults, and the broader community to adapt. Parents and the environments are figures or models closest to children and become role models for children. This study aimed to determine children's social behavior and the role of the environment on the social behavior of children aged 5-6 years in the Nusukan Surakarta railway environment. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative methods—sampling using a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique used the Milles and Huberman model with three stages: data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results show that children's social behavior in the Nusukan railway area tends to be active, but some behaviors still need guidance so that children have good social behavior. It is inseparable from family environmental factors, both parents, siblings, peers, or other adults through their environment. Child development is strongly influenced by treatment or parental guidance for children in recognizing various aspects of social life or norms of social life. Social behavior is closely related to children's behavior in adjusting to the rules of society in the surrounding environment. Children obtain social behavior through maturity and learning opportunities from various stimuli provided by their environment.

The article examines the place and role of women in the social life of London in the 14th–15th centuries based on the material of the original sources. It is shown that, despite the restrictions fixed by custom and laws on the social activity of women, the range of occupations of the townsmen –wives and widows – was unusually wide. It is craft and trade, including the right to take apprentices, real estate transactions, and financial deals. Women did not just help men in the craft or trade shops, but also worked independently. The status of women, especially married women, who chose to participate in trade or in town production as their main occupation, was never fully developed. A significant degradation in the position of women in the public sphere in London occurred in the 16th century. The author concludes that, despite all the difficulties, a new type of woman was gradually developed in the city – energetic, enterprising, educated, who acts in society as an independent head of the family and business.

The concept of sociality in respect to journalism and mass media has not been studied in detail. Meanwhile, it is a significant and detached characteristic which deserves targeted studying. In social science, sociality is determined as interaction between people based on shared values. The author correlates this definition with academic views on the social function of journalism, as well as tries to find the balance between IT factors and social factors in the current period of evolution of journalism. Special attention is given to the integrative role of journalism in everyday life. In the context of of sociality, journalism and mass media are considered societal phenomena, taking into account all clarifications of typological features of certain mass media and other communication channels. The article provides a review of research papers on the topic, including national and foreign publications. The aim is to study the content and determine trends in the development of sociality of journalism and mass media. The key methodology applied by the author is a combination of institutional and socio-cultural approaches to studying socialtity. The first one emphasizes orderliness of social relationships, whereas the second focuses on particular attributes of people’s community that make up the content of social life. The socio-cultural view on sociality helps to identify peculiarities of journalism culture in a country, namely, in Russia, where it derives from the social diversity and multi-cultural environment. The research enables the author to make certain inferences regarding the growing influence of journalism and mass media on the way social interaction is organized.

The idea of public experience is often invoked in different social and academic contexts. However, it seldom deserved a reflection that specifically sought to deepen its meaning from the point of view of social life. In this article we contribute to the understanding of the uniqueness of the public form of experience. We believe that one of the best ways through which we can observe the public experience is by the objectification, performance and dramatization of the culture, i.e., the “expression of lived experiences”. There is, in publicity, the possibility of simultaneous allocation of individual and collective experiences, and it is in this sense that we can see how culture influences the shaping of experience itself. Public experience is characterized by the weaving and intertwining of singular experiences that are pluralized and plural lived experiences that are singularized, in a process where individual and society interpenetrate. The relationship between experience and publicity arises from this symbolic communion contained in the systems of thought and action of societies. The decisive role of the principle of publicity to experience consists, according with the hypothesis we wish to put forward, in making available and communicating the social world of symbolic (cultural) activity. Public experience is, then, envisaged as the experience of a common world where both singular and plural definitions of the individual (taken as society) converge through lived experiences and, particularly, through their expression, which can take different symbolic forms.

Crossing Borders: An Example of the Polish Women’s Alliance of America Less than one hundred and twenty years ago, the active participation of Polish women in the social life of the American Polonia did not fit into the “natural order of things.” Searching for the possibility of reaching out their own ethnic group and working on its behalf, Polish immigrant women made gradual efforts to create their own organization, which resulted in the establishment of the Polish Women’s Alliance of America in 1898. The idea of the creation of PWAA shows the ways by which Polish women not only constructed, but also redefined the sense of ethnic belonging, thus setting new boundaries of their activity. By showing the role of women in the organizational life of the American Polonia, the article contradicts views about their passive attitude and at the same time offers an opportunity to look at an example of crossing the next borders by women, visible in bolder and more frequent coming out of the private sphere in favor of involvement in the public one.
