Human perception about beauty always mirrors civilization, and is embodied in their built environment. In other words, what people sees as beautiful plays a crucial role towards how nature/landscape is developed. This paper intentions are to rethink on contemporary aesthetic value in landscape design, to evaluate current aesthetic paradigm, and to find landscape design strategies that can promote sustainable goals.  Using qualitative method, this paper first shows historical review on how landscape form through many centuries in both western and eastern civilization. Later, it examines on how contemporary landscapes are built. In the discussion, it is found that -using Chinese foot binding tradition as a metaphor– our contemporary landscape is designed to be unusable, unhealthy, unproductive ‘small feet’. Landscape is designed with beautification – merely for visual properties, not for human activity, destructing the natural properties of landscape, and too difficult to maintain. Human should be able to interact with the nature in landscape in order to create a behavioral changes towards the nature. As a conclusion, we need to shift our paradigm of beauty towards healthy ‘big foot’ aesthetic to be a direction on how to achieve the sustainable beauty. This ‘big foot’ aesthetic can be relevant not only in landscape design, but also in other fields related to the built environment. Keywords: landscape design, sustainability, green design, aesthetic value

A two stage international landscape and urban regeneration design competition was held last year for the site of a former Brikettfabrik at Witznitz near Borna in the south Leipzig region of Germany. The design of the winning entry was based on architectural, urban and landscape design strategies developed over the past five years. This paper opens with an introduction to these ideas and related theoretical precedents. There follows a description of the project's context and of the design itself.

Ajuga orientalis L. is a widespread plant species in many countries, such as Greece, Italy and Turkey, with promising aesthetic value in the field and in landscape design, but nothing is known about its phenology, from a detailed, quantitatively, point of view, in relation to meteorological variables. Thus, under the aforementioned context, the purpose of our work is the elucidation of part of the phenology of this plant, especially concerning its flowering. To achieve this, the phenological stage ‘Beginning of flowering’, in terms of its start dates (julian days), was investigated in relation to average air temperature (T) of March in two areas, Roudi and Kaboulieri at north-northwest and south-southeast slopes, respectively, of Mount Aenos, Cephalonia, Greece, for three successive years (2014-2016). From the analysis of the T of March, it was confirmed that Kaboulieri area was significantly warmer (P<0.05) than Roudi area by 0.8 oC both in 2014 and 2015, with a significantly earlier appearance (P<0.05) of ‘Beginning of flowering’ of A. orientalis in Kaboulieri, ranging from 9.1 (2015) to 10.9 (2014) julian days. The findings of our study could be used for the planning of an efficient preservation program process of the aforementioned plant species in a vulnerable mountainous environment, such as the Mount Aenos environment, as well as for its further exploitation as a decorative plant.

The population in this research is that all of Arnis Muhammad's mural works for the 2017-2019 period are 51 works. In this study the authors took samples using purposive sampling technique. The reason for taking samples is the number of mural works that still exist and are still intact. There are 10 mural works in the research location. In this case, the writer examines these mural works based on their function and style. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The function of the mural by Arnis Muhammad is a personal function as a reflection of the resonance of the environment in which he lives. The aim of this study is to extend the rationale and comprehensive understanding in respect of the notion of functionality and beauty in the smart skin buildings. Smart skin in buildings plays a key role in improving building functionality, and the future lies in the use of innovative smart skin strategies. The methodology focused on the objectivity and subjectivity of human perception to assess the aesthetic value of a building's smart skin. A theoretical analysis has been conducted based on the results of the investigation model and fortified by comparing the results with the findings obtained through the opinions of experts based in AHP methodology. The study demonstrates that there is a relation between both the aesthetic value and the functionality of the smart skin of a building. The findings revealed the difference in the aesthetic evaluation between the subjective functionality and the objective functionality of the building skin. The findings contribute useful evidence for the promotion of our understanding regarding the aesthetic value of the smart skin of a building, based on its functionality.

The development and implementation of ICT solutions changed the built environment. Objects from daily human routines and services, while aiming for sustainable and inclusive qualified solutions, challenged the countless possibilities of interaction between individuals, individuals and products, and products and products. Smart cities associate intelligence to environments and products to boost functionalities, uses, and experiences. The design of smart cities, from the spatial relations, objects interactions, and services availability must be user oriented to satisfy users' needs and expectations, while promoting qualified experiences. From real and questionable solutions, due to technical or functional orientation, emerges the need to observe human perception, reaction, and behavior to understand how it is possible to improve the experience. The aim of this chapter is to highlight the need of a different approach to the conceptualization of smart cities, environments, products, and services, emphasizing an emotionally appealing experience.

Landscape architecture is the connection between human and nature, which enhance human health and comfort. It contributes to water conservation and natural resource preservation since it is a part of the global ecosystem. The geographical location, which represents the climatic and terrestrial features, is one of the essential considerations of the landscape design due to its cruciality of design impacts. In this research, new landscape classification has been revealed that categorizes the landscape into two main categories: natural landscape and built landscape, and each category has been followed by subcategories which have demonstrated in this paper. One of the landscape architecture objectives is to optimize the design for human needs and comfort, thus how will the landscape design optimize in different climate conditions? There are many environmental design strategies that respond to any climate type conditions.
