Purpose This paper aims to discuss with an introductory narrative on the models and its role in the context of librarianship. Design/methodology/approach This paper explores the relationship between researcher development and library research support. The authors observed the interconnectedness of the two concepts and how this should be studied more with respect to librarianship. Five major higher education and researcher development–related models are examined to assess which would be more suited for library’s research support activities. Accordingly, Prof Linda Evans’ conceptual researcher development model, the Vitae Researcher Development Framework (RDF), the Research Skill Development Framework, Society of College, National and University Libraries Seven Pillars of Information Literacy model and Association of College and Research Libraries’ Standards for Libraries in Higher Education were reviewed. Review and examination of the frameworks, along with relevant literature on the topic, were examined. Findings The authors found that the Vitae RDF seemed most ideal, as it was comprehensive and detailed in presentation and could be used not just by the academic staff but also by librarians and researchers to their benefit. Research limitations/implications Further studies and thorough review of recent educational and library-related frameworks and models are required from the lens of library research support. Practical implications Application of frameworks needs to be actively adopted by librarians. Originality/value There are few studies that have examined researcher development and research support in librarianship in conjunction. The present study has aimed to bridge this gap.

Research in title “The impact of Sriwijaya Maritime Power toward the Entrance of Muslim Trade in Palembang in VII-IX Century” is based on the power of Sriwijaya maritime that dominated all of the International trade voyage path which was sailed by the foreign merchant including Arabic Muslim traders. The Arabic Muslim traders which sailed and traded to China must go across trade voyage paths of Sriwijaya, thus, the merchants stopped over in the Kingdom center of Sriwijaya located in Palembang. The objective of the study is to analyze the history of development of Sriwijaya’s maritime power, analyzing the sailing and trading path and the relationship of Sriwijaya and the foreign country, and the impact of Sriwijaya’s maritime power toward the entrance of Muslimtraders in Palembang in VII-IX century. This study is in the form of Qualitative research design which is library research., by analyzing thoroughly every single relevant literature. The approach of the research is by using historical method approach which are, heuristic, verification, interpretation, and historiograsion, and politicoligist and economologist scholarship. Moreover, the source of the data were primer and seconder data. Data collection technique as heuristic and verification. To analyze the data, it was used interpretation, then it was conducted the last step that was historyografy or a writing of history. This research concludes that the history of development of Sriwijaya appearing as the ruler of the largest maritime power in Nusantara was supported by their great army and a management of a strong and respected leader.Sriwijaya easily controlled strategic shipping paths, such as the Strait of Malacca, Bangka Strait, Sunda Strait, Karimata Strait, and all shipping lanes in the Nusantara. The condition of the shipping Routes initially frightened Muslim traders, because of the large number of pirates, having successfully controlled by Sriwijaya's maritime power, it became safe and comfortable to go through. And it was required to stop at the harbor or in the center of Sriwijaya Kingdom located in Palembang. In addition, Sriwijaya's relationships with foreign countries, namely Arab, India, China were carried out by Sriwijaya for the recognition of sovereignty and Sriwijaya's power strengthening in the trade shipping paths. Sriwijaya with its maritime power and cooperating with the Sea People to secure the cruise line to the center of Sriwijaya from pirates as well as increasing the confidence of Muslim traders both in trade and security guarantees on the way back from the center of Sriwijaya and access for Muslim traders in the process of Islamization through trade routes in the territory of Sriwijaya kingdom.

ABSTRACTMoney is part of the community's need to conduct various transactions. Indonesia as a developing country makes the dollar as the standard of money value because the position of the dollar is considered strong by almost all countries in the world. But in fact the existence of a dollar that is not guaranteed by anything often changes (fluctuates) and will directly affect the financial systems of countries that refer to the dollar, including Indonesia. Ibn Khaldun was a Muslim scientist who lived during the decline of Islam. He was actively involved in the world of government and was one of the figures who had brilliant ideas about the concept of money (751-808 H / 1350-1406 AD). This study aims to examine Ibn Khaldhun's concept of money and monetary policy in the economy and the relevance of his thinking to monetary policy in Indonesia. This research uses library research design (Library Research) with a historical and descriptive approach. The data collection technique chosen is the documentation technique, namely the data collection technique by examining relevant literature with the chosen title. In the analysis phase content analysis techniques are used and combined with historical continuity methods to answer the problem formulation that is proposed. The data analysis stage is through the stages of linguistic analysis and concept analysis. The results showed that: 1) the emergence of the concept of Ibn Khaldun's money and monetary system in the economy was motivated by the economic and political conditions experienced during Ibn Khaldun's life. History says that Muqadimah Ibn Khaldun was written based on the results of his thoughts combined with life experiences he experienced; 2) The concept of Ibn Khaldun is relevant if it is applied in the monetary system in Indonesia. This is based on the real conditions faced by Indonesia, which currently uses empty money. Even though its existence is now proven to have caused crises many times. So it is not impossible if gold and silver coins are used as the standard of money value.Key word: Concept of Money, Monetary Policy

AbstractThe presence of the Religious Hate Speech (RHS) has had negative impacts such as intolerance, extremism, and even radicalism. Given the increasing number of young people, especially students who may be exposed, it is important that prevention efforts are carried out. One of them is through multicultural education. This study aimed to examine the facts of RHS and offer solutions through the concept of lita'arofu (to recognize each other) as a model of multicultural education. The method used is a literature study (library research by conducting a review of relevant literature and previous research. The results of this study indicate that: (1) the phenomenon of RHS in Indonesia is getting worse, as evidenced by cases of hate speech that actually bring down fellow Muslims; (2) multicultural education is urgent to be implemented in schools to create a moderate understanding of religion; (3) development of the interpretation of lita'arofu in QS. Al-Hujurat: 13, among others, changing direction from qabilah to ummah, giving choices instead of imposing, and broadening the perspective The lita'arofu model is important to apply, because this model will present a moderate religious narrative to prevent the RHS from spreading.

The world increasingly needs an alternative approach to economic development. This paper endorses the Integration of Knowledge (IoK) approach as the wisdom of humanity through Islamic Economics (IE). A review of relevant literature through qualitative methodologies of library research, discourse and critical content analysis highlights the civilisational practices of integration, how development of economics diverged from such practices and how heterodox approaches reacted to such divergence. A section on learning the wisdom of humanity from each other emphasizes the inevitable historical civilizational integration (IoK) and exchange of knowledge. It follows with a literature review of the development of mainstream economics, how it abandoned such historical civilizational practice and its sound foundations, namely ontology, epistemology, axiology and methodology. A highlight of heterodox economics (HE) responses reveals the alternatives to the mainstream-focused positivistic approach to economics. The inadequacy of those alternatives led us to demonstrate Muslim responses and the centrality of IE as a comprehensive alternative heterodox economic approach. The analysis shows how IE grew along Islamisation of Knowledge (IOK) as two parallel and major intellectual iṣlaḥ (reform) and tajdīd (renewal) movements. A brief review of the development of each shows the potential of IE’s IoK methodological reasoning to revive the IoK approach in economics as the wisdom of humanity. The sound IE philosophical foundations, namely ontology, epistemology, axiology and methodology, have a major impact in that process. Thus, utilising the core IoK objective within IOK together with IE contributions shape the process of overcoming problems and issues of mainstream economics. Actionable recommendations to practitioners and academics depict how the IE approach to economics could be implemented and sustained along SDGs agenda.

This research deals with MuÍammad al-ÙÉhir Ibn Ashur’s (1879-1973 C.E.) views of Objectives (Maqasid) of the Quran. As one of the pioneers of the theory of maqasid al-Shariah, he pays a significant attention to this subject. Unlike other contributors to this subject, he identifies eight basic objectives of the Quran and implicates them to the Quranic exegesis. According to him, bringing objectives of the Quran perspective to the interpretation of the Quran is extremely necessary. This study is a library research in which the data were collected from Ibn Ashur’s writings as well as some other relevant literature. Dealing with the collected materials, the researcher made a discourse analysis of Ibn Ashur’s views on the mater. After each ‘objective’ is discussed, a brief focus is made on the methodological basis of his identification of Objectives of (Maqasid) the Quran instead of outlining the issues that he has identified as the main objectives (Maqasid).

This study aims to find the paradigm of Islamic legal philosophy contained in the Fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) regarding guidelines for social interaction through social media. This type of research is qualitative research (library research). Data sources of this study is the Fatwa of MUI, No.24 of 2017 Concerning Law and Guidelines for Bermuamalah through Social Media and various relevant literature. The theory used in this research is the Maqasid Shariah theory. This study concludes that the Fatwa of MUI legal provisions that limit freedom of social interaction through social media are legal provisions in realizing the benefit of individuals (al-maslahat al-khassah) and the public (al-maslahat al-ammah) in the context of social life. To realize these two benefits, the five objectives of Islamic law (maqasid shari'ah al-khomsah), such as hifz al-nafs, hifz al-aql, hifz al-mal, hifz al-nasl can be manifested in various legal provisions of the fatwa of MUI which limits freedom of social interaction on social media.

This work, “An Analysis of Alvin Goldman’s Naturalistic Epistemology,” aims at presenting the contributions of Alvin Goldman in am epistemic bent. As a branch of philosophy, epistemology has significantly advanced right from the classic, medieval, modern, and contemporary epochs. The effects of postmodernist thinkers’ radical approach to philosophy are evident in almost all philosophy branches. With the notion of doing epistemology through science championed by W.V.O. Quine, Alvin Goldman, John Kuhn, and some other scholars have raised objections and counter objections to such a deconstructionist mindset within the epistemic circle. Expectedly, these naturalistic epistemologists had discontinuity with one another in their positions. Goldman is concerned with such traditional epistemological problems as developing an adequate theoretical understanding of knowledge and justified believing. This paper shows that in his naturalistic discontinuity with Quine, Alvin Goldman did not conceive epistemology as part of science the same way Quine conceived it. Goldman’s view that answering traditional epistemological questions requires both a priori philosophy and the application of scientific results. Goldman’s naturalism is the view that epistemology “needs help” from science. His primary concern is in the area of traditional epistemological problems, including developing an adequate theoretical understanding of knowledge and justified believing. In this paper, I see Goldman’s divergence in the opinion of his naturalistic epistemology with Quine and other naturalistic epistemologists not as a problem but indeed part of epistemic consolidation. In the course of this work, analytic, evaluation, library research, and descriptive methods as well as internet materials, were employed.
