Pangal is one of the peat forest plant species that can be used to restore degraded peat forest. The purpose of this study was to obtain the most suitable concentration of wood vinegar for the growth of pangal bud cuttings planted in cocopeat or cocopeat growing media + hust charcoal. This study uses the experimental split plot method with a complete randomized pattern (CRD). Treatment factor as the main plot of media with 2 levels of (cocopeat and cocopeat + husk charcoal 2:1) and subplot with concentration Wood vinegar 3 levels (3%, 3.5% and 4%) with 5 replications. The results showed that the percentage of live of cuttings and the highest rooted percentage was in a combination of treatment with media and 4% wood vinegar concentration with a percentage of live of the cut reaching 100%. Significant treatment increases the length of primary roots and the number of roots found in the growth of thr primary root length is (4.19 cm) in the treatment of cocopeat media and the concentration of 3% wood vinegar can increase the growth of the primary roots length, for the highest average number of primary roots which  is 6.40 also in the same treatment the same is cocopeat media with a dose of 3% wood vinegar. Significant treatment increases thenumber of roots is found in the treatment of secondary root with an average value 33.6 was in the of cocopeat media treatment with 4% wood vinegar dose, while the highest number of leaves with an average 6.60 was in the treatment of  cocopeat + husk charcoal with 4% wood vinegar concentration. Wood vinegar concentration  and the planting média that are most suitable for shoots cuttings are the concentration of wood vinegar 3% and 4% which can be applied to cocopeat media either without or with the addition of husk charcoal.Keywords: Baccaurea bracteata Muell, growth media, shoot cutting, wood vinegar

Pangal (Baccaurea bracteata Muell.Arg.) is a flowering plant belonging to the Phylanhace tribe know as fruit and wood producer. The pangal plant is native to debt, but its  existence is diminishing now. Therefore, it is necessary to procure seedlings for forest restoration with cuttings.  The purpose of this study was to obtain root stimulants and planting medium suitable for the growth of pangan shoot cuttings. This experiment used a (split plot) design with a completely randomized design (CRD). The main plot factor was the planting medium with two levels of factor (cocopeat (M1) and cocopeat with husk charcoal (M2)). The subplot factor consists of three levels of factor (control (Z1), rootone-F (Z2) and wood vinegar (Z3)). Each treatment was replicated  five times to obtain 30 units of treatments. The result showed the highest percentage of life (60%) was obtained by in cuttings that were treated with rootone-F and were planted in cocopeat medium and rice huck mixture. After being tested statistically, the effect of planting media (cocopeat or mixture of cocopeat and husk charcoal) and root stimulants (without root stimulants, rootone F or wood vinegar) was not significant to primary root length, primary root number, secondary root number, number of leaves and shoot length.  Keyword: Baccaurea bracteata, husk charcoal wood vinegar, rootone-F.

Germination percentage of common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca L.) seeds was low 1 mo after seed collection. Seed dormancy decreased with time at storage temperatures of −12°, 5° or 21 °C. After 11 months of storage, seeds stored at 21 °C had 15–18% higher germination compared to the seeds stored at −12° and 5 °C. The best seedling emergence was obtained at a temperature of 27 °C when seeds were planted at a depth of 0.5 or 1 cm. Seedling emergence was better in muck or sandy soil than in clay soil. Seedlings developed slowly up to 30 days after emergence at 15 °C under an 8-, 12- or 16-h photoperiod. High temperatures (27 °C) stimulated seedling growth under each photoperiod. Taller seedlings with more leaves, longer primary roots, more lateral roots and adventitious root buds grew at 27 °C as compared to 15° or 21 °C. Increasing the photoperiod from 8 to 16 h increased plant height and number of leaves but not primary root length.

Punak (Tetramerista glabra Miq) is an indigenous plant species growing in peat swamp forest that can be propagated vegetatively through shoot cuttings. Punak can be used as a material for plywood,boards, poles, and firewood. The purpose of this study was to obtain root stimulants and growth media to be suitable for the growth of punak shoot cuttings. This  research was conducted at the Silviculture Laboratory and screen house of the Ruang Pamer and Bursa Anggrek, UniversitasTanjungpura.This study used split plot design with a completely randomized design (CRD). The main plot factor was growth media with two levels of factor (cocopeat and cocopeat + husk charcoal) and the sub plot factor was root stimulants with three levels of factor (without root stimulants, rootone-F, and wood vinegar).  The results of this study show that the percentage of life of shoot cuttings was 80 %, while the percentage of cuttings was rooted at 66.66%. Therefore, the effect of root stimulant and growth media are not significant in the growth of punak shoot cuttings, as seen from the time of planting until three-month-observation.Keywords: cocopeat,  husk charcoal,  peat,  restoration,  wood vinegar

An experiment was conducted during 2017-18 at the Research orchard of Horticulture, college of Agriculture Gwalior to Study of interaction Effect of different colour poly wrappers and PBZ concentration on rooting and growth of Guava air layers. Total 12 treatment were tested under experiment. Result related that maximum length of primary root, length of secondary root, diameters of primary root, diameters of secondary root, fresh weight of root, dry weight of root, rooting %, number of leaves, number of new sprout, length of air layers, and survival percentage of air layers of guava was observed under Red poly wrapper with 500ppm PBZ. Which was significantly higher then other treatment combination follow by Blue poly wrapper with 500ppm PBZ and result of black poly wrappers and the lowest result found in white wrapper with co (No harmon) PBZ.

An experiment was conducted during winter to find the effect of girdling, etiolation and auxins i.e. IBA and NAA on rooting of semi- hardwood cuttings of olive cv. Leccino under mist. The experiment comprised of 13 treatments and was combinations of girdling, etiolation and auxins. The results indicated that the best rooting characteristics viz; highest percent rooted cuttings (53.33), number of primary roots (6.58) and secondary roots (8.53) and diameter (0.46 mm) were maximum with cuttings treated with IBA at 5000 ppm, where as the maximum primary root length (5.30 cm) and secondary root length (2.42) was recorded with the treatment girdling + IBA 4000 ppm + NAA 1000 ppm and IBA 4000 ppm, respectively. Regarding the shoot characteristics viz; plant height (14.59 cm) was recorded highest for the treatment IBA@ 4000 ppm which was at par with the treatment IBA @ 5000 ppm (14.26 cm). Highest plant diameter (2.40 mm), numbers of leaves (16.26) and leaf area (36.42 cm2) were highest for the treatment IBA @ 5000 ppm. Survival percentage of cuttings (71.57 %) was also highest in cuttings treated with IBA @ 5000 ppm. It is concluded that IBA at 5000 ppm was found to be the best treatment for propagation of olive through semi- hardwood cuttings during winter.

Plant organ phenotyping by non-invasive video imaging techniques provides a powerful tool to assess physiological traits and biomass production. We describe here a range of applications of a recently developed plant root monitoring platform (PlaRoM). PlaRoM consists of an imaging platform and a root extension profiling software application. This platform has been developed for multi parallel recordings of root growth phenotypes of up to 50 individual seedlings over several days, with high spatial and temporal resolution. PlaRoM can investigate root extension profiles of different genotypes in various growth conditions (e.g. light protocol, temperature, growth media). In particular, we present primary root growth kinetics that was collected over several days. Furthermore, addition of 0.01% sucrose to the growth medium provided sufficient carbohydrates to maintain reduced growth rates in extended nights. Further analysis of records obtained from the imaging platform revealed that lateral root development exhibits similar growth kinetics to the primary root, but that root hairs develop in a faster rate. The compatibility of PlaRoM with currently accessible software packages for studying root architecture will be discussed. We are aiming for a global application of our collected root images to analytical tools provided in remote locations.

Despite increasing reports on the function of CCCH zinc finger proteins in plant development and stress response, the functions and molecular aspects of many non-tandem CCCH zinc finger (non-TZF) proteins remain uncharacterized. AtC3H59/ZFWD3 is an Arabidopsis non-TZF protein and belongs to the ZFWD subfamily harboring a CCCH zinc finger motif and a WD40 domain. In this study, we characterized the biological and molecular functions of AtC3H59, which is subcellularly localized in the nucleus. The seeds of AtC3H59-overexpressing transgenic plants (OXs) germinated faster than those of wild type (WT), whereas atc3h59 mutant seeds germinated slower than WT seeds. AtC3H59 OX seedlings were larger and heavier than WT seedlings, whereas atc3h59 mutant seedlings were smaller and lighter than WT seedlings. Moreover, AtC3H59 OX seedlings had longer primary root length than WT seedlings, whereas atc3h59 mutant seedlings had shorter primary root length than WT seedlings, owing to altered cell division activity in the root meristem. During seed development, AtC3H59 OXs formed larger and heavier seeds than WT. Using yeast two-hybrid screening, we isolated Desi1, a PPPDE family protein, as an interacting partner of AtC3H59. AtC3H59 and Desi1 interacted via their WD40 domain and C-terminal region, respectively, in the nucleus. Taken together, our results indicate that AtC3H59 has pleiotropic effects on seed germination, seedling development, and seed development, and interacts with Desi1 in the nucleus via its entire WD40 domain. To our knowledge, this is the first report to describe the biological functions of the ZFWD protein and Desi1 in Arabidopsis.

The influence of penetration resistance (PR), an easily measured indicator of soil strength, on the growth of Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis radicles and seedlings was investigated. Negative exponential relationships between PR and both radicle and primary root elongation were observed. All root elongation ceased at PR levels of 3.25 MPa. Tip diameters of radicles and primary roots were positively correlated with PR values up to 2.4 MPa, whilst numbers of primary roots, total root lengths and lengths of longest roots were all negatively correlated with PR. Hypocotyl elongation was also reduced by increasing PR, although the reductions occurred at higher PRs than those which inhibited root development. In contrast, primary shoot development was unaffected by PR levels which were sufficient to stop root elongation, but was reduced in soil with a PR of 4.8 MPa. There were significant family x soil type and family x PR interactions for radicle, hypocotyl, primary root and primary shoot development. 1f these interactions are correlated with performance in the field, then they may serve as useful indicators of family suitability to both soil type and high strength soils.

The research objective was determine the effect of various growth media and growmore fertilizer on the acclimatization of Dendrobium orchids. study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) Factorial consisting of 2 factors, the first is (M) of growing media which consists of 3 levels, namely: M1 (medium fern root), M2 (wood charcoal medium), M3 (coir media coconut) and the second is (G) growmore fertilizer which consists of 4 levels, namely: G0 (without Growmore fertilizer), G1 (Growmore fertilizer 2 g / liter), G2 (fertilizer Growmore 4 g / liter), G3 (Growmore fertilizer 6 g / liter). Determine the growth of orchid plants, observations were made with the following parameters Growth Percentage (%), Plant Height (cm), Number of leaves (strands), and Number of tillers (stems). Data obtained were analyzed statistically, then continued with the Honestly Significant Difference Test (BNJ) at the level of 5%. The results showed that the single treatment of the use of growing media did not have a significant effect on the parameters of observation of growth percentage (%), plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), and number of tillers (stems). The growth of growmore fertilizer also did not show a significant effect on the parameters of observation of growth percentage (%), plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), and number of tillers (stems). Interaction of the use of various growth media and growmore fertilizer did not show a significant effect on the percentage of growth (%), plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), and number of tillers (stems).

Rodent tuber (Typhonium flagelliforme (Lodd) Blume) is one of the medicinal plants used for anticancer treatment, but the information on the cultivation of the plant is limited. The objectives of this research was to study the effect of light intensity and concentration level of paclobutrazol on growth and yield of rodent tuber. This research was conducted at Puspiptek Serpong, Tangerang Selatan, Indonesia. This experiment arranged in a split plot design with three replications. The main plot is light intensity (35, 55, and 100%). The sub plot is concentration level of paclobutrazol (0, 50, 100, and 150 ppm). Paclobutrazol applied as soil drench at one month after planting. In each application 500 ml solution was used. Variables observed consisted of plant height, number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width, leaf and tuber fresh weight; and leaf and tuber dry weight. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and Duncan Multiple Range test at 5%. The result showed that interaction between light intensity and paclobutrazol affected the whole observed variable. Dry weight of tuber under 35% light intensity was lower than those in other light intensity for all treatments of paclobutrazol. Full sunlight intensity showed better dry weight in all treatments of paclobutrazol. However the dry weight decreasing significantly at 150 ppm paclobutrazol, but still higher than those in 35% light intensity. Therefore, rodent tuber is better cultivated under full sunlight and 55% light intensity with 100 ppm paclobutrazol.
