The author of the article studied the assessment of the literary group Serapinovy brothers by the critics of the Russian diaspora – Georgy Adamovich and Alexander Yashchenko. Adamovich was called the best critic of emigration, he enjoyed a well-deserved prestige. All critical articles by Georgy Adamovich are distinguished by their objectivity. He deeply understood the essence of works of art. This allowed the critic to accurately predict the further paths of the creative development of the author, about whom he wrote. The article reconstructs the presence of Georgy Adamovich at the meetings of the Serapion brothers in those years when he was still in Russia. The critic's articles also indicate his rejection of folklore, the stylization of that part of the serapions who called themselves „eastern” and followed the folk tradition. The critic gives a positive assessment to the writers who were guided by Western literature. In his articles, Georgy Adamovich gives an objective assessment to the poets of the literary group Nikolai Tikhonov and Elizaveta Polonskaya. The fate of these poets testifies to the fact that the critic understood exactly the prospects of their development. The author of the article investigated the reception by Alexander Yashchenko of the Russian literary group. Alexander Yashchenko was the publisher and main critic of the New Russian Book magazine, which was published in Berlin. The author of the article determined that Yashchenko was interested in the literary life of Russia and understood the laws of the literary process of the 1920s. Alexander Yashchenko, in an article on the development of Russian literature from 1917 to 1922, calls the writers of the Serapion Brothers literary group as an important phenomenon of this period. The critic examines the work of Vsevolod Ivanov, Mikhail Zoshchenko and Konstantin Fedin. He objectively evaluates their works, points out the possibilities of creative development. The author of the article notes that criticism of Alexander Yashchenko is characterized by depth and objectivity. Back in 1922, the critic saw that the work of Yevgeny Zamyatin influenced the writers of the Serapion Brothers literary group. Scientists drew attention to this only at the end of the twentieth century.

The article aims to highlight the role of Arvīds Grigulis’ (1906–1989) personality in the Latvian Soviet literary process in the context of the Latvian Soviet Writers’ Union, attempting to discover the contradictions and significance of Arvīds Grigulis’ personality. Arvīds Grigulis was a long-time member of the Writers’ Union, a member of the Soviet nomenklatura, and an authority of the soviet literary process. His evaluations of pre-soviet literary heritage and writings of his contemporaries were often harsh and ruthless, and also influenced the development of the further literary process. The article is based on the documents of the Central Committee of the Latvian Communist Party, the Latvian Soviet Writers’ Union and the Communist Party local organization of the Latvian Soviet Writers’ Union that are available at the Latvian State Archive of the National Archives of Latvia, as well as memories of Grigulis’ contemporaries. It is concluded that the personality of the writer Arvīds Grigulis, although unfolding less in the context of the Writers’ Union, is essential for the exploration of the soviet literary process and events behind the scenes. The article mainly describes events and episodes taking place until 1965, when Arvīds Grigulis’ influence in the Writers’ Union was more remarkable. Individual and further studies should analyse changes and the impact of his decisions in the cultural process of the 70s and 80s of the 20th century.

The article deals with the literary analysis of Ulas Samchuk's novel «The youth of Vasyl Sheremeta». It explores the proper concept of the philosophical and theoretical interpretation of the significance and role of the Kremenets Gymnasium named after Ivan Steshenko in the formation of a young person by the novel of Ulas Samchuk «The youth of Vasyl Sheremeta». The authors of the article note that the significance of Ulas Samchuk's creative work in the complex literary process lies in its key role in the formation of a new active hero in the Ukrainian prose of the twentieth century. The life and creative path of the prose writer, his literary heritage is a vivid phenomenon in world-wide Ukrainian society, which more clearly reveals the "character of the nation-creating factor" (R. Gromiak). It was investigated that Ulas Samchuk wrote an autobiographical essay-novel in the two volumes "Youth of Vasily Sheremety" about the life of Kremenets and the gymnasium of the 20's. "This book, - says the author, - violates a small part of the problem of our Ukrainian sector. This is a series of questions from the youth environment of the first years after the First World War of one of our provinces. I wanted to lighten them with the ones my eyes saw them, and the way they heard them, my soul. Without special colors, without special "educational trends", without "for" and without "against". My only tendency was to see everything, even my insignificant heroes from a distant provincial town, co-authors of their era. I wanted to show people who later created the content of what we had just experienced in their first time. Do not force the reader and the critic "to be satisfied." I would have liked more to be true. It is proved that in the artistic means of the novel "The youth of Vasyl Sheremeta" the main feature of his outlook is clearly and consistently traced. The language and cultural code of the national identity of the heroes is represented as a phenomenon of Ukrainianity and the formation of a young Ukrainian person. Ulas Samchuk closely connects language and history as an inseparable unity.

The article discusses the culture-creating activities of Mieczysław Tomaszewski (1921–2019) at the Polish Music Publishing House and within the context of Musical Encounters at Baranów Sando- mierski (1976–1981). The text is mainly concerned with Tomasze-wski’s publications relating to twentieth-century Polish composers: Karol Szymanowski, Witold Lutosławski, Krzysztof Penderecki and Henryk Mikołaj Górecki. The reflections of the Polish musicologist are closely entwined with the theoretical conceptions developed by himself: the conception of Wort-Ton, the method of integral interpre-tation of a musical work, the conception of nodal points in the lives of composers, or intertextuality in music. Applying these conceptions allowed him to describe Polish twentieth-century compositions at different levels and in different contexts: beginning with a synthetic periodisation of creative development, up to masterly analyses and interpretations of individual works that take into consideration their intertextual references. The Polish musicologist also paid careful at-tention to composers’ statements testifying to their original views and inner transformations. The problem of freedom was of particular im-portance to him, both in its personal, artistic aspect and in its histor-ical dimension. Tomaszewski as a person reveals himself throughout his activities as someone both free and committed.

The article deals with the works of such famous playwrights as Ihor Kostetskyi and Eugene Ionesco. The comparison of the work of the Ukrainian playwright with the dramatic works of the world level made it possible to distinguish the laws that show that Ihor Kostetskyi's drama is a multi-faceted and ambiguous phenomenon in the literary process of the second half of the twentieth century. The study of the peculiarities of the literary heritage of I. Kostetskyi involves a profound analysis of the influence of the emigration factor on creative process of the writer. His close interweaving of universal, national, and moral issues was caused by life in emigration and the loss of Ukraine. The combination of Ukrainian mentality with the understanding of the philosophical concepts of the West allowed the playwright-emigrant to consider social and moral problems more panoramic. Using techniques such as phantasmagority of individual scenes, deconstructivistic distrust to language, the destruction of syntactics and paradigmatics and logical structural connections in some places allows us to characterize the poetics of I. Koste-tskyi’s style as an absurdity experiment based on the drama of the Baroque era.In the result of  comparison of the heritage of Eugen Ionesco and Ihor Kostetskyi the author found that both dramatists rejected the canons of classical drama with its traditional plot, experimented with the form of works, the language of characters. The artistic material of their dramatic works unfolds through absurd situations that contrast with the world of reality. One of the problems raised by the authors is the problem of human communicability, which leads to leveling of the personality. Their verbal experiments are one of the factors in the creation of new generations of heroes. The dramatists did not abandon one of the main problems of existentialism - time as characteristics of human being.

The concept of creativity is ambiguous, and research on creativity is carried out in such fields of science as philosophy, anthropology, pedagogy and psychology. In ancient Greece, creativity was called the verb "to do." It referred only to poetry: At a time when Christianity was very much dominant in the world, creativity became the domain of God, which gives existence to things, only in the nineteenth century "creativity" as a term, she returned to the area of human activities, to the field of art. In the twentieth century, the described phenomenon was even more widely interpreted. Creativity began to be perceived in every area of human activity, for example in science, technology, self-creation etc. The starting element leading to understanding the phenomenon of creativity is to recognize it as a product of a product. In the described model of thinking, a creative product is characterized by novelty and value. There are two types of interpretation of the concept of creativity as an individual feature. One group of researchers assigns the creativity to exclusively highly talented people. The second type of interpretation of creativity in understanding it as an individual characteristic is called an egalitarian approach. In this approach, every man is creative, and creativity is a characteristic of a person standing next to intelligence or extraversion. People differ only in the intensity of this feature. Researchers sought to answer the issue of creative personality in the detection of typical personality traits that testify to creative abilities. These studies have led to the emergence of three groups of features related to the mechanisms of creation. The creator, therefore, is characterized by openness independence and perseverance.

The paper offers an analysis of Yurii Kosach’s literary heritage in the context of the Ukrainian literary process of the 20th century. The main subject is biographical, ideological, aesthetic, and ethical factors that influenced the formation of the writer’s self-identity. Special attention is paid to the ambivalence of Kosach’s worldview, the duality of his status, which was reflected in his literary self-representation. The views of Yurii Kosach on the historical role, cultural and social aims of the emigrants have been clarified. The paper discusses the history of the conflict between Yurii Kosach and the circle of the post-war Ukrainian emigrants, the theme of Kosach’s collaboration with Soviet totalitarian political and literary environments. Yurii Kosach’s engagement in the Soviet literary process is considered in the context of myth about Faust and Mephistopheles, which serves as a political metaphor covering the entire totalitarian history of Ukrainian literature and culture. The writer’s split between various totalitarian ideologies is considered as one of the symbolic plots of his time and interpreted psychologically. One of the main plots in Kosach’s prose, realized in his various works, is a symbolic meeting of Ukraine and Europe. The paper considers his understanding of Europeanism, the crisis of Ukrainian literature, the problem of the writer’s self-sufficiency, etc. Such issues as mythological thinking of Yurii Kosach, the influence of the neo-baroque and neo-romantic traditions on his work, the appeal to Panteleimon Kulish’s idea of Ukrainian Europe, the writer’s participation in the ideological discussion about the national and cultural identity of Mykola Gogol have been outlined as well. According to structure of phrases, a phrase is a lexical unit that is equivalent to a sentence, semantically whole, has a generalized meaning, is not created in the speech process, but is ready to be introduced into the speech. According to the linguist Mamatov, phrases are a separate unit of language, which, according to their structure, is a free connection or equivalent to a sentence, fully or partially semantically reconstructed figurative, stable phrases. Phrases are specific figurative expressions of people's conclusions based on observation of life events, assessment of acceptable and unacceptable actions in society, generalization of life experiences.
