This research aimed at investigating whether there is a significant effect of Picture Word Inductive Model on students’ competence in writing narrative text. The design of this research was Pre-Experimental design one group pre test and post test. The population of this research was all first grade of class IPA of Senior High School 4 Wangi-Wangi. The sample of this research was class IPA 1 which consists of 20 students. The instrument of this research was writing test in narrative genre and the criteria of students’ writing were assessed from five aspects of writing, namely content, organization, language use, vocabulary and mechanics. The data were obtained by using two essay writing tests. They were pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was given before treatment and the post-test was given after treatments in order to know the students’ competence before and after treatment of Picture Word Inductive Model.  The data were analyzed by using SPSS in form of Paired Sample T-test. The result of the analysis showed that there was a significant effect of Picture Word Inductive Model on students’ competence in writing narrative text. It proved by the result of hypothesis testing using paired sample t-test. The mean score of pre-test was 59.77 and mean score of post-test was 76.67. Moreover, as a result the probability score of .000 (p score) was less than the level of significance (p ≤ 0.50. Therefore, it can be said that using Picture Word Inductive Model gives significant effect to increase students’ competence in writing narrative text at class IPA 1 of Senior High School 4 Wangi-Wangi.

The curriculum 2013 emphasize the learning with scientific approach. The experiment is the best studying activity to develop the student’s skills and processes because involve five approaches. One of the supporting tools used in an experiment is a student’s worksheet as the guidance. Based on this need, the research was conducted to yield the valid and practical experimental student’s worksheet with scientific approach for senior high school student grade X semester 1. This research utilised the 4-D (four-D) development models which are consist of 4 steps; defining, designing, and developing. The defining step including on pre-analysis and post-analysis, students analysis, and assignment analysis. The designing step was conducted to designed the experiment’s worksheet with scientific approach. In the developing step, the validity of worksheet was examined by 5 validator and practicality test by 2 teachers and 31 students grade X of MAN 1 Padang. The primary data obtained from validity and practicality questionnaire were analysed with descriptive analysis. It can concluded that the student’s worksheet of experiment with scientific approach which have developed for students grade X semester 1 have the very valid and practical criteria.

The objectives of this study were to find out whether or not there was a significant improvement before and after the treatment on the eleventh grade students’ reading comprehension scores at one Islamic senior high school in Palembang by using Subtext strategy and to find out whether or not there was a significant difference on the eleventh grade students’ reading comprehension scores between the students who were taught by using Subtext Strategy and those who were not. In this study, Quasi Experimental Design using pretest-posttest nonequivalent groups design was used. There were 60 students taken as sample. Each class consisted of 30 students from class XI IPS 2 as control group and class XI IPS 3 as experimental group. In collecting the data, reading comprehension test was used. The test was given twice to both experimental and control groups, as a pretest and posttest. To verify the hypotheses, the data of pretest and posttest were analyzed by using independent sample t-test and paired sample t-test in SPSS program. The findings showed that the p-output from paired sample t-test (sig2-tailed) was 0.000 which was lower than 0.05 and t-value 11.399 was higher than t-table with df=29 (2.0452).  The result of p-output from independent sample t-test was 0.001 which was lower than 0.05, and the t-value 3.465 was higher than t-table with df=58 (2.0017). It means that teaching reading narrative text by using Subtext strategy had significant effect on the students’ reading comprehension scores.

This research aims to determine the differences geography with use  Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition  (CIRC) with konvensional model in subject matter hidrosphere in Senior High School 3 Makassar. The study was a quasy experimental design involving two groups were taught using Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) model and the group that wastaught using conventional learning models. The population in this study were all students of class X Senior High School 3 Makassar and sample are students of class X3 and X4 with purposive sampling. Technic data collection is done by giving a pre – test and post- test. The data were analyzed with descriptive and inferential techniques. Descriptive analysis showed that: (1) the study of students taught with conventional learning model gained an average score 65,25 Value obtained the percentage of students in the category of very less 0 % Category less 2.77 %, category 36.11 % enough , 61.12 %  good category and the category of very good 0 %. (2) the study of students taught with Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model gained an average score 79,05 Value obtained the percentage of students in the category of very less 0% Category less 0 %, category 0 % enough , 88,57 % good category and the category of very good11,43 %. (3) According to the result is  Thitung  = 10.410 with  Ttabel = 1,671 with the value α use the  0,05 (5 %) with  df 69. Jadi Thitung < Ttabel, point to that P-value for t-test is 0,000.

This study is an attempt to discover the effect of applying Think-Talk-Write strategy on students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. The objective of this study were to find out whether applying Think-Talk-Write strategy affect the students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. This study was an experimental research. In conducting the research, the writer used 60 students of Al-Fattah Senior High School Medan as the sample. The 60 students were taken from two classes and they were divided into two groups namely the experimental group who was taught by using Think-Talk-Write strategy and the control group who was taught without Think-Talk-Write strategy. The data of the test were collected by administering written test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result of the analysis shows that the value of t-observed is higher than the value of t-table (2,3> 2,00 (α = 0.05)) with the degree of freedom (df) = N-2 = 58. It means that there is significant effect of applying Think-Talk-Write strategy on students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. So the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. The conclusion is that applying Think-Talk-Write strategy can encourage and increase the students’ achievement in writing descriptive text. Therefore, it is suggested that English teacher should try to apply this strategy.
