According to the results of breast cancer data in the Republic of Uzbekistan in addition to the increase in morbidity and mortality from breast cancer among women the presence of age specific features among indigenous women in the direction of “rejuvenating” of the disease with all molecular-biological (phenotypic) subtypes of breast cancer were marked. Within the framework of age-related features the prevalence of the least favorable phenotypes of breast cancer was found among indigenous women: Her2/neu hyperexpressive and three times negative subtype of breast cancer. The data obtained made it possible to build a so-called population “portrait” of breast cancer on the territory of the Republic, which in turn would contribute to further improvement of cancer care for the female population of the country.

Breast cancer (BC) is the most common diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer mortality in women worldwide. The epidemiological picture of BC among the population of the Crimea Republic is analyzed with a comparative evaluation with nation-wide rates. According to the presented data the incidence of BC in the Crimea Republic has a clear upward trend. Incidence growth is mainly due to the female population among the «employable» contingent that requires regular clinical examination and screening these patients. In prognostic estimates by 2020 the incidence rates of BC in female population will increase by 10 % compared to 2015. The increase of the prevalence, contingent accumulation index, the proportion of patients experiencing more than 5 years, and reduction in mortality of the observed patient cohort shows better results of BC treatment in the Crimea Republic as compared to the All-Russian data.

Background:One of the most prevalent cancers befell to women is considered to be breast cancer (BC). It is also the deadliest among the female population after lung cancer. Additionally, several studies have demonstrated that there is an association between microRNA34-a and breast cancer.Method:We searched PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar up to December 2018. Those studies which have been studied miR-34a and its tumor-suppressing capabilities were considered as the most important topics. Moreover, we extracted articles which were solely focused on microRNA-34a in breast cancer therapy. Finally, 80 articles were included.Results:In comparison with the normal tissues, down-regulation of miR-34a expression is shown considerably in tumor cells. Overexpression of miR-34a acts as a tumor suppressor by transcriptional regulating one of the signaling pathways (TP53), NOTCH, and transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β), Bcl- 2 and SIRT1genes, HDAC1 and HDAC7, Fra-1, TPD52, TLR Via CXCL10. Moreover, drug resistance declines which lead to the apoptosis, cell cycle arrest and senescence. As a result, the proliferation, invasion and metastasis of the tumor are suppressed. The Mrx34 drug contains miR-34a mimic and a lipid vector. MiR-34a as the active ingredient portrays the role of a tumor suppressor. This drug has recently entered the clinical trials studies.Conclusion:These findings suggest a robust cause for developing miR-34a as a therapeutic agent to target BC. In that scenario, miR-34a is strongly useful to introduce new therapeutic goals for BC. Moreover, this review aims to confirm the signal pathways, therapeutic and diagnostic values of miR- 34a in BC and beyond.

Background: Cancer is a genetic disease caused by the accumulation of gene mutations. It is important to derive the number of driver mutations that are needed for the development of human breast cancer, which may provide insights into the tumor diagnosis and therapy. Objective: This work is designed to investigate whether there is any difference for the mutation mechanism of breast cancer between the patients in the USA and those in China. We study the mechanisms of breast cancer development in China, and then compare these mechanisms with those in the USA. Methods: This work designed a multistage model including both gene mutation and clonal expansion of intermediate cells to fit the dataset of breast cancer in China from 2004 to 2009. Results: Our simulation results show that the maximum number of driver mutations for breast epithelium stem cells of females in China is 13 which is less than the 14 driver mutations of females in the USA. In addition, the two-hit model is the optimal one for the tumorigenesis of females in China, which is also different from the three-hit model that was predicted as the optimal model for the tumorigenesis of females in the USA. Conclusion: The differences of the mutation mechanisms between China and the USA reflect a variety of lifestyle, genetic influences, environmental exposure, and the availability of mammography screening.

ABSTRACT Objective: To determine if specific dietary patterns are associated with breast cancer risk in Chinese women. Design: Latent class analysis (LCA) was performed to identify generic dietary patterns based on daily food-frequency data. Setting: The Chinese Wuxi Exposure and Breast Cancer Study (2013-2014). Participants: A population-based case-control study (695 cases, 804 controls). Results: Four dietary patterns were identified, Prudent, Chinese traditional, Western, and Picky, the proportion in the controls and cases were 0.30/0.32/0.16/0.23 and 0.29/0.26/0.11/0.33, respectively. Women in Picky class were characterized by higher extreme probabilities of non-consumption on specific foods, the highest probabilities of consumption of pickled foods, and the lowest probabilities of consumption of cereals, soy foods, and nuts. Compared with Prudent class, Picky class was associated with a higher risk (OR=1.42, 95%CI=1.06, 1.90), while the relevant association was only in post- (OR=1.44, 95%CI=1.01, 2.05) but not premenopausal women. The Western class characterized by high-protein, -fat, and -sugar foods, the Chinese traditional class characterized by typical consumption of soy foods and white meat over red meat, both of them showed no difference in BC risk compared with Prudent class did. Conclusions: LCA capture the heterogeneity of individuals embedded in the population, could be a useful approach in the study of dietary pattern and disease. Our results indicated that the Picky class might have a positive association with the risk of breast cancer.

Accessory breast tissue (ABT) is found in approximately 2%–6% of the female population and are subject to most of the physiological and pathological changes that occur in pectoral breast. Primary breast cancer occurring in ABT is a rare occurrence and a second primary breast cancer occurring in an accessory breast has never been reported. We report the case of a 60-year-old woman with a history of mastectomy for left breast cancer 5 years prior to presentation, who presented with an enlarging right axilla mass found to be a second primary breast cancer in an accessory tissue on biopsy. Many physicians are unfamiliar with the clinical presentation of accessory breast cancer due to the rarity of the condition and this ultimately results in delayed diagnosis and advanced disease at presentation. It is therefore prudent that physicians have a high index of suspicion when patients present with axillary masses.

Abstract Background: Breast cancer (BC) is the most common tumor and the leading cause of cancer-related death among the female population worldwide. To evaluate the association between the ABCB1 C3435T single gene nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with the response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in women with breast cancer. Methods: This study included 32 female patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The polymorphisms were genotyped through real-time allele-specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The statistical analysis was performed using the Fisher's exact test or Pearson's chi-square test in the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0 software. Results: The genotypes found for the C3435T polymorphism were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and their genotypic distributions were CC= 10 (31.1%), CT= 14 (43.8%), and TT= 08 (25.0%) with χ2: 0.86 and p-value > 0.05. Allele frequencies were C = 0.54 and T = 0.46. There were no significant statistical differences between genotypes considering the response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy and immunohistochemistry; the presence of the T allele was associated with worsen axillary status response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Conclusion: No definite association between the presence of C3435T polymorphism and the response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy was observed. Further studies in Brazil involving larger samples will contribute to validating the results of this study. Keywords: Breast cancer; Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy; Polymorphisms; Gene ABCB1

The breast cancer is one of main localizations among malignant tumors in women of the Siberian Federal District. In the structure of morbidity it holds first place with such percentage as 20.4% and index of morbidity makes up to 51.2 per 100 000 of female population. The territories with increased and decreased risk are established. The features of prevalence of disease in a certain degree are conditioned by differences in demographic characteristics of populations. The indices of life-span, birth-rate in fertile age and divorce rate effect the level of morbidity of breast cancer in population.

Abstract Background The effect of dairy products intake on breast cancer (BC) is highly controversial. This study aims to investigate the relationship between dairy intake and BC incidence. Methods A search was carried out in PubMed, EBSCO, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases before January 2021. The primary objective was the risk of BC and intake of dairy products were exposure variables. Results The meta-analysis comprised 36 articles with 1,019,232 participants. Total dairy products have a protective effect on female population (hazard ratio (HR) =0.95, 95% confidence interval (CI) =0.91–0.99, p = 0.019), especially for estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) (HR = 0.79, p = 0.002) and progesterone receptor-positive (PR+) BC (HR = 0.75, p = 0.027). For ER+/PR+ BC, there is a trend of protection, but it has not reached statistical significance (HR = 0.92, p = 0.075). Fermented dairy products can reduce BC risk in postmenopausal population (HR = 0.96, 95%CI = 0.93–0.99, p = 0.021), but have no protective effect on premenopausal population (HR = 0.98, 95%CI = 0.94–1.03, p = 0.52). Non-fermented dairy products have no significant effect on BC occurrence (p > 0.05). High-fat dairy products are harmful to women, without statistical difference (HR = 1.06, 95%CI = 1.00–1.13, p = 0.066). On the contrary, low-fat dairy products can protect the premenopausal population (HR = 0.94, 95%CI = 0.89–1.00, p = 0.048). Conclusion The intake of dairy products can overall reduce BC risk in the female population, but different dairy products have varying effects on different BC subtypes and menopausal status.
