The article considers the main provisions of blended learning organization in medical institutions of higher education. The main online platforms and digital teaching aids, that are used in medical institutions of higher education during the educational process based on blended learning, are identified in particular: distance learning platforms (Equity Maps, Google Classroom, Moodle), mobile-digital applications (Classtime, LearningApps, Quizizz) and online communication platforms (Google Meet, ZOOM, WeBex). The concept of blended learning is defined as a harmonious combination of students’ classwork and the use of information and digital technologies in extracurricular activities (independent work, group work, etc.). The principles of organizing the educational process in institutions of higher medical education include a general didactic approach in working with large groups, discussion in small groups, individual training and learning using information and digital technologies. An important aspect in the training of highly qualified medical professionals in the blended learning format is blended laboratory courses. Such an organization of training, as shown in the study, is popular with both students and teachers of laboratory bachelor courses. Note that in this process, teachers mainly focus on the development of students' abilities for autonomous learning, and not just on the transfer of theoretical knowledge. The best experience of blended learning usage in the world medical institutions of higher education is considered. The advantages of blended learning in medical students’ preparation are shown. In further scientific research it is planned to study the current experience of organizing blended education of Kharkiv National Medical University in the conditions of adaptive quarantine in the 2020/2021 academic year.

The development of information and communication technologies and their integration into the educational space of higher education institutions has led to the emergence of new models of professional training. One of the innovative strategies that combine the best practices of traditional (face-to-face) and electronic (synchronous / asynchronous) learning interaction is blended learning. The perception of teachers who provide the educational process is a major predictor of the implementation of such strategies and models. The purpose of the study is to summarize and interpret the experience of teachers in blended learning and analyze their perception of the possibilities of its use in the training of future teachers of physical education. The research was conducted by anonymous and voluntary questionnaires using an open electronic questionnaire. The sample consisted of 28 teachers who provide training for future teachers of the subject specialty 014.11 Secondary education (Physical Culture) in various domestic institutions of higher education in Ukraine. The analysis contains a description of the quantitative and semantic interpretation of the obtained data. The generalization of the obtained data and their analysis showed that blended learning is generally positively perceived by teachers as a technology that contributes to the flexibility of the educational process, accessibility of educational content, improving student attendance, enriching teaching aids, their interactivity, and thus improving the training of future physical culture teachers. Despite the challenges and difficulties of organizing the educational process in a blended learning environment, it is established that the organization of such training also helps to improve the professional skills of teachers, improve academic courses, creative search for effective pedagogical and technological solutions to ensure quality education.

The author clarifies the content of the concept of “a method of teaching” and presents its interpretations in philosophy, psychology, and linguodidactics. The article contains an analysis of scientific research on the emergence of various methods of language teaching both in foreign and domestic didactics, as well as descriptions of the role that each method plays in the formation and establishment of the speech personality, including that of the foreign medical student. A method of teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language is a way of realization of educational, developmental and disciplinary aims of teaching that is intended for the organization of an effective educational process, the main task of which is the achievement of the desired result. The author defines the main methods of teaching of Ukrainian as a foreign language at medical institutions of higher education, namely: the direct method, conscious-comparative method, grammar translation method, suggestive method, audio-lingual method, and audio-visual method. It has been noticed, that none of the listed methods is universal, therefore only the totality of the above methods will promote the achievement of the aims and tasks of the educational process, in particular mastering of the Ukrainian language by foreign medical students. Selection of methods of teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language to foreign medical students depends on the selected approaches and principles for studying the discipline, the specificity of the theoretical and practical material, which must be mastered by a foreign student during studying at an institution of higher education, as well as on the pedagogical mastery and working experience of a teacher, conditions of implementation of the educational process, available means of teaching, etc. The teaching methods presented in the study are effective only subject to their integrated introduction in the educational process, as each appointed method is intended to form particular practical skills and abilities of a subject of study, which are key components of professional communicative competence of a foreign student as a future highly-qualified and competitive specialist of the medical branch.

Place-based initiatives, such as the federal Promise Neighborhoods grant, attempt to coordinate interventions, supports, and services with a myriad of organizations to targeted communities. Although Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs), inclusive of academic medical institutions, are among the most overall researched anchor institution, Non-Institutions of Higher Education (NIHEs) have led more Promise Neighborhood grants since the inception of the program in 2010. Therefore, this study compared the revitalization efforts proposed by IHEs ( n = 5) and NIHE ( n = 5) in their applications for Promise Neighborhoods grants awarded between 2016 and 2018. Although similarities existed within and across the applications from NIHEs and IHEs, namely focused on improving academics and health/wellness, the specific interventions, supports, and services proposed by each lead institution largely reflected the individual needs of the targeted communities. The findings from this study illustrate how IHEs and NIHEs are similarly positioned to effectuate change within their communities. Implementing place-based initiatives requires anchor institutions to allocate considerable time and resources in order to adapt to the current needs of the community in real time. Therefore, future lead agents of Promise Neighborhoods should seek to promote an environment that fosters on-going collaboration and mutual trust across and within multiple stakeholders, while also exploring sustainability efforts to extend gains made beyond the duration of the grant.
