The problem in the harmonic vibration practicum is in calculating time accurately. Commonly, the time counter used was a stopwatch, but it was unable to provide valid data. As a result, the student has difficulty seeing the relationship between concepts with practical results in the laboratory. To overcome these problems, in this study, we developed a harmonic vibration practicum tool that is equipped with a digital timer using an Arduino Uno microcontroller as a light sensor. An Arduino can be programmed via a PC according to the wishes of the developer. This study was development research using a 4-D model (Define-design-develop-dissemination). The define and design stages respectively to find problems in the harmonic vibration practicum tool. The tool is finally designed and then calibrated, validated, and practical. The calibration results show that the percentage difference for repetition measurement and comparison that values with theory was 0.008% and 3.98%, respectively. In addition, the validation results show an average percentage of 87% or very valid. For practicality, the result through a limited test of Physics students of IAIN Batusangkar in the second semester shows a very practical response with a percentage of 85.96%. Due to time constraints, the dissemination stages have not been carried out in this study.

AbstractThis research is motivated by the existence of speculation of students in answering the true-false type of questions. The purpose of this study was to develop questions true-false type in consept of physics  on work and simple machines in class VIII SMP which can minimize speculation. This research and development uses a Research & Development (R & D) model from SivasailamThiagarajan, Dorothy S. Semmel, and Melvyn I. Semmel consisting of 4 main drums determined (defining), design (design), development (development), and spread (spread). Data collection was obtained through interviews, questionnaire instruments and student grades. The results of validation by evaluation experts and material through questionnaires obtained an average percentage of 92.5% with a valid category. And from the results of trying to 32 students, the questions developed can minimize student speculation in answering questions. Thus, a class that uses the form of B-S questions that are equipped with Y-TY options can measure students more objectively than the B-S type questions without Y-TY choices.AbstrakPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya spekulasi siswa dalam menjawab soal objektif tipe benar-salah. Wall-slab structural system is a system suitable for use in the field of high-rise building where the main load resisting system is in the form rigidly connected wall slab member. Concrete vertical walls may serve both architecturally partitions and structurally to carry gravity and lateral loading. Moment transfer of joint is an important aspect for proper structurally functioning of wall-slab system. Hence, the main aim of this study is to investigate experimentally the effect of reinforcement details in the wall on bending capacity for support stiffness in wall-slab system for residential project in Malaysia. A total of six wall specimens were tested based on the specification given by the project contractor. Three of this specimens consisted single layer of rebar while another three specimen consisted of double layer of rebar. The size of the wall-slab’s specimens is 1000mm in length (L), 1080mm in width (W), 1000mm in height (H) and 80mm in thickness (T). The average concrete strength was 23.49MPa with Grade 30N/mm2 and the average yield strength of R5 bar was 817MPa. The predicted bending capacity at failure is in the range from 5.36kNm to 7.12kNm, depending on actual concrete cover. The bending capacity at failure for single layered of rebar in wall for specimen 1, 2 and 3 were found to be 3.59kNm, 3.81kNm and 3.15kNm, respectively. The bending capacity at failure for double layered of rebar in wall for specimen 1, 2 and 3 were 5.50kNm, 6.31kNm and 7.00kNm, respectively. The average percentage difference in stiffness of double layered of rebar in wall based on load-deflection curve obtained is in the range from 116.17% to 289.88% higher than single layered of rebar in wall. Based on the experimental results, specimens consisted of double layered of rebar in wall is found to provide higher bending capacity to the joint of wall-slab structural system in the range from 56.25% to 98.86% compared with single layered of rebar in wall.

The purpose of this study was to: (a) investigate the actual positions in digital communications; (b) assess the relationship between position-congruity among intended positions (i.e., how a firm desires to be perceived by consumers), actual brand positions, and perceived brand positions (i.e., the perceptions that customers have in their minds); and (c) understand the role of actual positioning (AP) in the positioning process. Multiple methods (one-on-one and focus group interviews, content analysis) were applied to analyze positions. Brand managers, golf consumers, and digital advertisements in Golf Digest magazine were sampled. Content analysis, frequencies and percentages, percentage difference, and regression analysis were performed for all positions for each research brand. The results revealed that: (a) tangibility-based positions (88.5%: great quality, innovation) outnumbered intangibility-based ones (11.5%: tour performance, tradition) in digital AP, (b) there was no positive correlation between the degree of congruence between intended and AP and the degree of congruence between intended and perceived positioning, and (c) the AP mediated between intended and perceived positioning in the brand positioning model. The study provides empirical evidence for the mediating role of AP and suggests modifications to the previous positioning process.

Purpose: To analyze best 1-h unaccompanied performances of master athletes in ages ranging from 35 to 105 y to estimate the decay of maximal aerobic power (MAP) across the spectrum of age. Methods: MAP at the various ages was estimated by computing the metabolic power () maintained to cover the distances during best 1-h unaccompanied performances established by master athletes of different classes of age and by assuming that they were able to maintain an equal to 88% of their MAP during 1 h of exhaustive exercise. Results: MAP started monotonically decreasing at 47 y of age. Thereafter, it showed an average rate of decrease of ∼14% for the decades up to 105 y of age, similar to other classes of master athletes. Conclusions: The results confirm, by extending the analysis to centennial subjects, that MAP seems to start declining from the middle of the 5th decade of age, with an average percentage decay that is faster than that traditionally reported, even when one maintains a very active lifestyle. The proposed approach may be applied to other types of human locomotion for which the relationship between speed and is known.
