Political imagery is one way that has the potential to lead and persuade people to political choices. The issue is raised imaging behavior of a politician(candidate) is not necessarily the same as the real character and personality. Defense mechanism is one of the studies in psychology that can provide insight and understanding of the political imagery. Sigmund Freud explained that the defense mechanisms are not conscious effort to show the process that protects the individual from anxiety through the perversion of reality.

Defense mechanisms are mental operations that function outside of awareness. In this sense, they operate in the unconscious mind. Such mechanisms were first identified by Sigmund Freud in connection with psychopathology but later were understood to be part of normal everyday functioning. Defenses serve the purpose of protecting the individual from excessive anxiety and loss of self-esteem. Defense mechanisms have been found to change with age, based on the complexity of the mental operations involved. Once a child understands how a defense mechanism functions, the mechanism tends to be used less frequently and a cognitively more complex mechanism is adopted.

This paper describes the use of the Defense Mechanism Test as an aid in helping to assess senior executives in four areas: for selection, development, career strategy, and crisis intervention. The origins of this test, developed to measure the defense mechanisms used to protect the individual from stress, are described. The paper shows how it was used to predict the capacity of trainee fighter pilots to withstand stress and its later application to other stressful occupations. Finally, some ideal types of the test are shown followed by four real test profiles, two of them with their associated histories.

The purpose of psychological protection is to maintain the integrity of the "self-concept" of the individual by protecting his consciousness from negative traumatic experiences, fear of failure, anxiety or uncertainty in their actions. The authors who studied this phenomenon in sports note that the psychological protection of the athlete - is a system of mechanisms and methods of mental self-regulation of consciousness and behavior of the individual in extreme mental conditions. Psychological defense mechanisms are manifested in students as a regulatory system that is activated in a situation of internal or external conflict. Based on it, students often show such a defense mechanism as substitution, regression, and compensation. Considering the manifestation of protective mechanisms in boys and girls, we obtained the following indicators: reactive formations (73% in girls and 51% in boys) and projection (73% in girls and 54% in boys) (p <0.05); in boys prevails: suppression (65% in boys and 45% in girls) and intellectualization (69% in boys and 56.1% in girls) (p <0.05). We found differences in the choice of the dominant mechanism of psychological protection by swimming students. The leading mechanism in the studied contingent is substitution, and the least preferred is suppression. The study identified the manifestation of the main mechanisms of psychological protection in students who swim and analyzed certain types of protection with a description of the specific features of the system of protective mechanisms and the level of their impact depending on gender differences.

Since the late 1960s there has been a resurgence of interest in Spinozism in France: Gilles Deleuze was among the first who gave life to a ‘new Spinoza’ with his seminal book Expressionism in Philosophy: Spinoza (1968). While Deleuze was primarily interested in Spinoza’s ontology and ethics, the contemporary French philosopher Étienne Balibar focuses on the political writings. Despite their common fascination for Spinoza’s relational definition of the individual, both thinkers have drawn very different consequences from the Spinozist inspiration regarding the relevance of his philosophy for a contemporary ethical and political thought. Deleuze draws from Spinoza an ethics of the encounter, an ‘ethology’ that is concerned with the composition of bodies on a plane of immanence. Balibar, on the contrary, deals with the modes of communication that we institute between one another and that are always effectuations on two levels at once: the real and the imaginary. Whereas Deleuze emphasizes the conception of a univocal plane of immanence, Balibar insists on a double expression of the real and the imaginary in any transindividual practice. The aim of this paper is to compare and finally assess their respective contributions to a conception of collective political action: the question of constitution of the ‘free multitude’.

This study wants to keep track of public participation in responds to development of uncertaintly local democratic. This idea is based on an assumption of declining public participation in the previous elections of 2004. This study tries to observe how the development of democracy at the grassroots level can be influenced by extends political effect for imaging virtually designed and shaped by political pragmatism practices as conducted by the politicians in general. The fndings of this study explained that the democratization at the level of village/local is not understood as an urgent need, therefore the political participation of society is still in the category of “anut grubyuk” participation profess that is not based on the ideals and demands the real political rights of citizenship. The forms of participation are thus precisely met the drying times of democracy itself. It means that the future death of village democratization not only addressed because of the laziness of residents to political participation, but the attitude of the political elite is also partly responsible, especially in negotiating the political choices to rural communities in general.

This article aims to peel the structure of the main character psychological condition and the defense mechanisms of his ego by using Freud's psychoanalysis theory. This is because the drama script has a very complicated problem which is experienced by the main character, Salim, in his life. He had despaired and felt that his life was empty because he got several influences from western culture. The personality structure, according to Sigmund Freud, is divided into three: id, ego and superego. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The result of this research is that personality structure which consists of id, ego and superego was found in Salim's figure. However, the dominating one is the id, then the ego, and the last superego. The researcher can make a hierarchy of personality structure of the main character, Salim, based on his research as (1) the personality structure in the form of id occupies the first level because its appearance is very intense; (2) the personality structure in the form of ego occupies the second level because its appearance is not as much as the id, (3) The personality structure in the form of superego occupies the third level because Salim rarely uses in conscience based on good or bad morality. Meanwhile, the ego defense mechanism found by the researcher in this drama script is (1) repression, (2) displacement or diversion, (3) rationalization, and (4) direct aggression. The others were not found in the drama script. The defense mechanism of the ego displacement becomes one often done by Salim figure to avoid the problem and the psychological conflict that he experienced. The reason is that he diverts feelings of displeasure towards an object to other objects that are more likely to be used as a backrest in the complicated conflict in himself. He considers that the defense mechanism of the ego's displacement felt more secure so as not to add to the complicated problem that he faces.
