This study assessed the students’ performance in Psychiatric Nursing. It further described the profile in terms of assessment test, Nursing Care Management 105 (NCM 105) final grade, performance of nursing students in Psychiatric Nursing, and the relationship between the respondents’ profile and performance. The findings of the study served as basis for a proposed action plan.The descriptive-correlational design was used and an adapted questionnaire as instrument for data collection. The respondents were all the 46 level 4 nursing students who previously took and passed the NCM 105 in the second semester of SY 2011-2012 at the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue, Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines. Treatment of data include simple percentage and chi-square Test of Independence.The findings showed a majority of the respondents failed in the assessment test of Psychiatric Nursing administered by the review provider despite recently passing the NCM 105 course based on the final grade. On the other hand, their ratings were fair during the Psychiatric Nursing performance assessment. Furthermore, there was a significant relationship between the respondents’ profile and performance. In conclusion, seniors in the College of Nursing will improve their academic achievement in Psychiatric Nursing if they are motivated or reinforced with the aid of good models of learned behavior. The study assessed the research process difficulties encountered by the faculty of the College of Nursing in the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue, SY 2011-2012. The respondents of the study were the 22 instructors teaching in the college. The findings served as basis for a proposed enhanced faculty research program.The study utilized the descriptive-correlational design and a researcher-made questionnaire to gather the data. Treatment of data include simple percentage, weighted mean, and chi-square Test of Independence.The respondents have a very high level of difficulty in the conceptual and analytical phases of the research process. The phases of design and planning, empirical, and dissemination phase revealed a high level of difficulty. Furthermore, the profile did not influence the research process difficulties encountered. For an extensive knowledge in conducting faculty research, there is a need to focus on the conceptual and analytical phases, in the research program. Recommended citation: It-it, E. R. & Amparado, M. Introduction: Training program is believed to enhance nursing students’ knowledge and performance in observational skills, which can be an essential factor in their future practice as nurses working in a psychiatric institution. Aim: This study aimed to assess the effect of training program for psychiatric nursing students to improve their observational skills. Materials and Methods: This study used an interventional design. The study sample included 80 nursing students undergoing clinical practice in psychiatric nursing during 2019-20 (10 months). The tools used for data collection were questionnaire to assess nursing student’s knowledge and an observational checklist to measure the performance. Percentage distribution, chi-square, and correlation coefficient were used to determine influence of training program on nursing students. Results: The training program imparted to students was effective as indicated by a highly significant difference between pre/post-training programs in all items of psychiatric nursing students’ knowledge. Furthermore, a highly significant difference between pre/post-training programs in all elements of students’ observational rating scale was also evident. Conclusion: The training program improved nursing students’ knowledge and performance. Particularly, their observational skills have brought confidence in their exposure and boast their ability in caring for their patients.

Background: Handwashing is the act of cleaning one's hands for the purpose of removing soil, dirt & microorganisms. Through review of literature it is understood that the most nosocomial infections are thought to be transmitted by the hands of healthcare workers, handwashing is considered the single most important intervention to prevent nosocomial infections. This study is conducted to assess the knowledge, attitude and practices (KAP) on handwashing among the nursing students and to identify the areas of gap in their KAP along with the provisions for handwash.Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted among 192 nursing students at S.V. College of Nursing, Chittoor during October 2018 using pre-validated self-reported questionnaire. Statistical analysis was done with SPSS 20.0 software and Chi square test was used with “P” value<0.05 taken as statistically significant.Results: Among all respondents 85% were aware about washing their hands during all common critical times, but practicing was observed in 08% only. 50% felt that alcohol based hand rub is effective than hand wash with soap and water, but facilitated 10% only. While the final year students all (100%) are well aware about all critical times of handwashing, whereas 1st and 2nd years 71% and 3rd year students 87% are aware (P=0.002).Conclusions: There is a need of orientation and arrangements for proper hand wash to be improved.

The study assessed the classroom management needs of the faculty of the College of Nursing in University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue, Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines for school year 2011-2012 based on Acero’s facets of classroom management (time and physical environment, classroom discipline, and routines). Further, the study described the: profile in terms of age, educational attainment, and length of teaching experience; classroom management needs; and relationship between the respondents’ profile and classroom management needs. The key findings were the basis for a proposed action plan. The descriptive-correlational design was utilized with a researcher-made tool based on Acero’s facets of classroom management. Follow-up interviews were also conducted with the 22 respondents. Treatment of data include frequency, simple percentage, weighted mean, and chi-square Test of Independence.The findings showed that most of the faculty were 30-50 years old, master’s degree holders, and has been serving the college for 2-4 years. The three facets of classroom management, namely, time and physical environment, classroom discipline, and routines were identified by respondents as needed. Furthermore, there was no significant relationship between the profile and classroom management needs. In the light of the findings of the study, classroom management needs of the College of Nursing can be addressed through a positive climate of humanism, where a teacher motivates effective learning in students, not through rewards and punishments but through better communication skills, to develop self-regulating behavior.

This study determined the traits and empowerment of the team leaders of the College of Nursing, University of Cebu Banilad, Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines. The research utilized descriptive-correlational design with 90 clinical instructors as participants. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to collect data. Statistical treatment used were weighted mean, hypothetical mean range, and chi-square Test of Independence.The leadership traits of the subjects in terms of manager-follower relationship is partially exhibited while the task structure proved to be moderately structured. The manager power is moderately powerful since some of the basic functions of a manager has been employed. In terms of empowerment of the team leaders, it was interpreted as mostly empowered.In conclusion, the study revealed that there is no significant relationship between leadership traits and empowerment. The anxiety of speaking in front of the class is one of the greatest fears experienced by every human being. Speaking anxiety experienced by someone when making a presentation in front of the class due to lack of self-confidence. This study aims to determine the relationship of confidence with anxiety when making presentations in class at nursing students at the University of Muhammadiyah Tangerang. This research method uses quantitative research with cross sectional design. The population in this study amounted to 78 nursing students. Samples taken in this study used Non Probability Sampling with Purposive Sampling techniques in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria in the study. Data were analyzed with Chi Square test. The results of this study there is a relationship of confidence with anxiety when making presentations in class of nursing students in 2nd semester at the University of Muhammadiyah Tangerang with P Value (0.039) <Alpha (0.05). This research is expected to increase students' confidence when making presentations in class by extending exercises such as practicing speaking in front of the class.

This study analyzes the impact of watching television sports channels on the promotion of sports activities among the students of the University of Sargodha. The aim of the study is to explore the impact of sports channels on students. Previous researches are used to set up the concepts of the present study. In this research, a survey technique is used to collect the data. The population of the study consists of male and female students of the University of Sargodha. In this research, the Stratified and Purposive sampling technique is used, through which specification characteristics of the respondent's demographics. The study explores the impact of sports channels in the view of Uses and Gratification Theory. The data for this study is collected through the use of a well-designed questionnaire. Chi-square test and other statistical tests like ANOVA and t-Test are applied to test the hypothesis. The finding shows that more the exposure to TV sports channels more the information level of students of the University of Sargodha.

The objectives of this descriptive and quantitative study were to identify and assess the level of knowledge of undergraduate nursing students concerning factors related to the sexually transmitted disease, Human Papillomavirus (HPV). A questionnaire was administered to 58 undergraduate nursing students at the University of Sao Paulo at Ribeirão Preto, College of Nursing. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics through the Epi Info software. Results revealed that 46.6% of the participants are sexually active; 96.3% reported safe sex with the use of condoms, though 29.6% of them do not use one regularly. Regarding the forms of transmission, 69% reported knowing them, while only 20.7% reported knowledge of HPV's signs and symptoms. Additionally, 54.3% of the adolescents reported not knowing what HPV can cause. Greater investment in health education directed to young individuals is required to promote health and prevent diseases, particularly those caused by the Human Papillomavirus.

 This study presents an attitude of female students studying B.Ed. third year towards physical education and sports within Kathmandu valley. Initially, it was hypothesized that there is no significance difference in attitude of physical education and sports among female students of different campuses. From these 6 campuses, 184 female students were randomly selected. A five-point Likert-type scale was applied for data collection from the selected students who studied in B.Ed. third year. Altogether five opinion statements were used for data collection. It was found that all respondents showed positive attitudes towards physical education and sports. In order to test whether there is significant interdependence in score among the respondents in different perspectives. The chi-square test score was applied as statistical test at the 0.05 level of significance. The chi-test under contingency table: independent of opinion among the respondent, if (χ2>α=0.05 in different degree of freedom) and independent if (χ2≤ α=0.05 in different degree of freedom). For the measurement of attitude for physical education and sports,it has enough evidence in the data to accept alternatives hypothesis; there is relation or interdependence of attitude towards physical education and sports among the respondents. Because, the score is very high among the response of respondent. The study suggests that the university teacher must be accountable to construct professional environment.

Introduction: Pharmacology is one of the basic science subjects included in graduate nursing programs (B. Sc Nursing and Bachelor of Science in Nursing) under Tribhuvan University. Both these programs are being run at our institute. This article describes the evaluation of pharmacology course and teaching methodology at our institute by B. Sc Nursing (B. Sc) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BNS) students and also compares students’ views between these two nursing programs to facilitate pedagogical learning. Methods: At the end of the course of 2071-2072 BS academic year of first year nursing students of B. Sc and BNS programs, a structured teaching evaluation questionnaire was designed to obtain students’ view on pharmacology curriculum and lectures. Yates corrected Chi square test was applied whenever necessary and p value considered significant at less than or equal to 0.05.Results: Only 37% B. Sc and 60% BNS students responded that the lecture content was in accordance with the curriculum. Only 52% BNS and 97% B. Sc students found the course content to be relevant and useful. 68% BNS students responded that they have felt a lot improvement in their understanding of pharmacology subject as compared to just 23% of B. Sc students. Majority of the students preferred the LCD mode of presentation.Conclusion: There were minor differences found between opinions of two sets of students. Major need for improvement areas suggested in curriculum were course content not being clear and the objectives being ill defined. Similarly, in relation to facilitator, they have recommended to improve voice clarity.
