As widespread products of folk culture, proverbs help people realize and interpret both their own and others' emotions. In this sense, they guide how people transform acquired knowledge into behavior. This function of proverbs is explained in terms of emotional intelligence. Turkish proverbs appear to be an extremely rich source in this respect. I therefore examined them using Goleman's (1995) model of emotional intelligence. Data were collected using two Turkish dictionaries and the findings were analyzed using semantic content analysis. I explored whether or not and how proverbs improve the mental abilities that form emotional intelligence. The effects of the emotional functions of Turkish proverbs on personal and social life are discussed.

Each of these aspects is explained in detail: the author developed a detailed nomenclature of cybervictimization forms. The problems of identifying its extent, as well as the determinant role of gender, age, behavioral and personal factors are discussed in the article, and a list of key cybervictimization acts is formulated. This meta-analysis includes thirteen global categories and about seventy of its accent forms. Through quantitative content analysis, the researcher tried to examine one of the news sites based on religion (Islamic hardliners), VOA-Islam, in reporting Basuki Tjahaja Purnama a.k.a Ahok, which incidentally is a non-Muslim Chinese descent. Using Jurgen Westerstahl’s objectivity approach (1983), found the fact that the news presented by VOA-Islam does not contain elements of balance, even most of it shows a negative tendency, cornered Ahok as a central figure in DKI Jakarta. In fact, from the dimensions of relevance, the percentage of news from VOA-Islam, which has a significant effect to the activity of community life and proximity to the topic of the public, are quite high. In addition to the large amount of news that contains racial issues, it becomes worrisome because it could lead to the disintegration of the nation.

Regarding the role of images in social life, three fundamental categories are to be distinguished: representation, decor, and objects of discourses. Representation was a major aim, because ancient societies consisted not only of their living members but also of two other social groups, their dead ancestors and their gods and heroes. Community life developed in interactions, through rituals and other cultural practices, between these social partners, of which those that were, in fact, absent could be made present by images within the society’s living spaces. Specific groups of images, such as cult statues, votive images, athletes’ statues, and honorary portraits, had their specific places, in sanctuaries, public spaces, and necropolises, where they were dealt with according to specific rules of “living with images.”
