Herpetofauna are unique creature which comprise both amphibians and reptiles. The present study was carried out on herpetofaunal diversity in Rupandehi and Arghakhanchi districts. Each of six sampling stations was conducted in the study areas. Ten standardized 10 x 200 m strip transects and 20-25 standard Quadrat sizes of 20 m x 20 m were set in each station. Observed museum specimens and questionnaire survey were also conducted during data collection. A total of 45 spe cies of herpetofauna was recorded with 9 species of amphibians) and 36 species of reptiles. Six species were from the family Ranidae, two species from Bufonidae and one speciesfrom Rhacophoridae. Lizards were represented by 11 species belonging to four different families. Each of Gekkonidae, Agamidae and Scincidae family was represented by 3 species and the Varanidae by two species. The family Crocodylidae was represented by one species. The order Testudines (turtles) was represented by 2 species from family trionychidae and bataguridae. Twenty two species of snakes were recorded from 6 different families. The amphibian species, namely; Euphlyctis cyanophlyctis, Zakerana nepalensis, Bufo melanostictus and B. stomaticusand reptile species Calotes versicolor were relatively abundant. Seven species of amphibians and18 species of reptiles were common in both districts. The study areas were diverse microhabitats due to the elevation from 71 m to 2004 m with plain, Churia and mountain range.

West Java Province has the largest population amongst others in Java, and therefore land conversion rate in the region is increasing. Approximately 40% of forest areas in West Java has been converted between 1990–2015. As a consequence, the number of biodiversity in the region is decreasing, including amphibians and reptiles. These groups play an important role in the food chain of an ecosystem, and are very sensitive to environmental changes. However, comprehensive research on amphibian and reptile species in West Java is suboptimal. Visual Encounter Survey has performed in seven districts in West Java for one month and has recorded 26 amphibian species and 27 reptile species. These species were including Javan endemic species (for example: Fejervarya iskandari, Huia masonii, Limnonectes microdiscus, Megophrys montana, and Microhyla achatina), introduced species (Calotes versicolor), and species with a new distribution record (Leptophryne borbonica and Kalophrynus minusculus). In addition, cryptic species (Genus Leptophryne and Cyrtodactylus), which are interesting for further studies, were observed. This study has demonstrated that the potential of a comprehensive study of amphibian and reptile species in West Java is great. Apart from this, conserving the biodiversity in the region also challenging due to the high rate in land conversion

The study focuses on families raising a child with cerebral palsy to investigate family strengths and their association with family and parent demographic characteristics in Greece and Italy. Participants were 120 parents raising a biological child with cerebral palsy. Data collection used a self-report questionnaire and the Family Strengths Inventory. According to the findings, families share a high sense of family strengths, which is mainly represented in the high sense of ‘pride’ and ‘accord’. In addition, demographic characteristics seem to be important predictors of well-being and strengthen parents and families raising a child with cerebral palsy.

The fungal pathogen Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd) is implicated in global mass die-offs and declines in amphibians. In Mesoamerica, the Bd epidemic wave hypothesis is supported by detection of Bd in historic museum specimens collected over the last century, yet the timing and impact of the early stages of the wave remain poorly understood. Chiropterotriton magnipes, the only obligate troglodytic Neotropical salamander, was abundant in its small range in the decade following its description in 1965, but subsequently disappeared from known localities and was not seen for 34 years. Its decline is roughly coincident with that of other populations of Neotropical salamanders associated with the invasion and spread of Bd. To determine the presence and infection intensity of Bd on C. magnipes and sympatric amphibian species (which are also Bd hosts), we used a noninvasive sampling technique and qPCR assay to detect Bd on museum specimens of C. magnipes collected from 1952 to 2012, and from extant populations of C. magnipes and sympatric species of amphibians. We also tested for the presence of the recently discovered Batrachochytrium salamandivorans (Bsal), another fungal chytridiomycete pathogen of salamanders, using a similar technique specific for Bsal. We did not detect Bd in populations of C. magnipes before 1969, while Bd was detected at low to moderate prevalence just prior to and during declines. This pattern is consistent with Bd-caused epizootics followed by host declines and extirpations described in other hosts. We did not detect Bsal in any extant population of C. magnipes. We obtained one of the earliest positive records of the fungus to date in Latin America, providing additional historical evidence consistent with the Bd epidemic wave hypothesis. Genotyping results show that at least one population is currently infected with the Global Panzootic Lineage of Bd, but our genotyping of the historical positive samples was unsuccessful. The lack of large samples from some years and the difficulty in genotyping historical Bd samples illustrate some of the difficulties inherent in assigning causality to historical amphibian declines. These data also provide an important historical baseline for actions to preserve the few known remaining populations of C. magnipes.

The methodological basis of the study was a questionnaire survey of high school students conducted in the cities of Tyumen, Tobolsk, Ishim and rural areas of the Tyumen region. IBM SPSS Statistics 23 was used to analyze the data.Considering family social status as the basis of young people “social start” in adulthood, authors note the dual nature of the role of this characteristic in the process of social adaptation of the younger generation. Based on the analysis of the data of questionnaire survey of high school students, the authors conclude differences of opinion on the importance of competitiveness as a necessary quality of personality.According to the results of the study it is shown that in addition to the level of family income, significant characteristics in their social status that affect the competitive orientation and competitiveness of high school students are also the level of parent’s education and their composition (full or single-parent families). It was confirmed that there is a correlation between the respondents’ assessment of personal competitive potential and the socio-professional status of the family. As possible directions for further research can be considered the study of the impact of the level of regional development on competitiveness formation process of high school students, as well as the role of teachers in this process.

Abstract The article aims to analyze the conceptions conferred by the health professionals that compose the Expanded Nuclei of Family Health (NASF) on their work assignments. This is a qualitative research, in which was used, for the data collection, eight focus groups, with a total of 43 participants. The data were submitted to content analysis. The results outlined the following categories: integrating NASF work with the Family Health Teams (ESF); developing specialized care; promoting intersectionality; contributing to the promotion of teamwork in Primary Care (AB) and strengthening AB. The study indicates the importance of a better understanding of the functions of the NASF, so that it does not restrict the opportunity to perform specialized care in AB. It is pointed out, the need for adjustments in the work processes of the ESF, in order to enable the shared work in the AB.
