Currently, there is a rapid development of information technologies, the restructuring of the system of education and upbringing of the younger generation to a new level. All this forces modern society to move forward, keep up with scientific and technological progress and time. Today, the key issue of modernizing education is to improve its quality and bring it in line with international standards. The emphasis is not on the acquired knowledge, but on the process of applying this knowledge. The article deals with the main directions of development of the education system and theoretical aspects of the development of the information and educational environment in the context of updated education. A new generation of school children can easily master any new digital and multimedia technology. Teachers are tasked with directing the student's development vector in the right direction. To do this, methods of working with students are being improved. The article describes pedagogical technology as information technology, since the basis of the technological process of learning is the acquisition and transformation of information. The paper considers a single information and educational space that can provide students with the opportunity to use a wide range of educational content (electronic textbooks, video courses, etc.), using interactive technologies to compensate for gaps in education, to realize their creative abilities through participation in various competitions, olympiads, festivals, conferences. Use the system of additional education without interrupting training due to various factors. The Internet environment for teenagers has long been clear and close, and it is believed that it can become a productive platform for improving education. As one of the areas of relevance of the research, the authors will determine the current trends in the development of computer science as a science, in particular, the transition to e-learning in the framework of updated education. The developers of modern educational standards emphasize the need to create an information and educational environment (IEE) in educational organizations that ensures the formation of universal educational actions of students. Thus, the understanding of the environment as a field of obtaining information is replaced by the understanding of the environment as a field of constructing ways of students ' activities. Such an environment from the point of view of the conducted research should be created on the basis of the system integration of ICT tools into the traditional educational environment. The complexity of the work of teachers is due to the lack of a unified model of integrative IEE in educational organizations. The search for effective ways to integrate traditional and innovative environments largely depends on the activities of subject teachers, who are able to turn the potential of the subjectoriented IEE to achieve qualitatively new educational results. The article presents a theoretical description of integrative activity-based IEE, which can serve as a basis for innovative activity of teachers. The article reveals the content and structure of the information and educational environment. The leading approaches to defining the concept of information and educational environment in pedagogical science are substantiated. The features of creating this environment in a secondary school are revealed. The authors conclude that the creation of an information and educational environment is one of the most important indicators of the quality of the education system.

The article focuses on the importance of information culture as an integral part of professional culture of engineers, which affects the quality and safety of engineering solutions. The main two approaches to the definition of "information culture" are determined, which include an information approach when the information culture is reduced to the concept of computer or information literacy and a culturological approach when the concept "information culture" is seen as a way of human life in the information society. Development of the information culture acts as a process of harmonization of the inner world of man in the acquisition of socially significant information. The main components of information culture of engineers are highlighted, including literacy and competence in understanding the nature of information processes and relationships, humanistically oriented information value-semantic sphere, developed information reflection, creativity in information behaviour and socio-information activity. Based on a broad understanding of information culture as a qualitative characteristic of the life of a specialist in terms of receiving, transmitting, storing and using information, where universal moral values are the main priority, basic methodological approaches to forming information culture of future engineers are proposed, namely: system, personal, activity, integrative, culturological, axiological and reflexive approaches. The process of developing future engineers’ information culture in the process of professional training in higher educational institutions will be effective providing that it is based on the substantiated methodological approaches.

Today it’s not possible to deny the approach of the new epoch – the epoch of the information society. The high technologies have infiltrated the total scope of the everyday life of modern people. In 2020 our civilization confronted the new, but for a long time anticipated, challenge, - mass introduction of distant education in schools and universities. We still will have to comprehend the results of this social experiment in the nearest future. Still one fact arises no doubts: information nowadays is the product that is widely and easily (perhaps, too easily) accessible, but real knowledge remains the lot of the few, and even tend to marginalize. Forty years ago the stated problems became the issue of the studies of the Swiss philosopher Denis de Rougemont. His conclusions turn out to be more and more relevant with the acceleration of the process of culture, communications and education digitalization. His article “Information Isn’t Knowledge” has been published in Russian for the first time. The article deals with the issues of information technologies integration into the human cognitive activity, its influence on the thinking process and cultural, ethic and spiritual values formation. Denis de Rougemont step by step reveals the definition of information technologies, their application in various areas of human existence, their ability to compete with personality and the consequences of their integration in everyday life. These speculations become especially valuable in the era of the triumph for information society and global computerization.

This essay is both historical and conceptual, first highlighting the origins, tensions, and continuities/discontinuities of focus group research, then arguing for how such research embodies three primary, related functions: inquiry, pedagogy, and political. The quasi-unique potentials or affordances of focus group work are explored, including mitigating the researcher’s authority; disclosing the constitutive power of discourse; approximating the natural; filling in knowledge gaps and saturating understanding; drawing out complexity, nuance, and contradiction; disclosing eclipsed connections; and creating opportunities for political activism. Contemporary threats to focus group work are described, and new research frontiers are proposed, especially in relation to new information technologies. The essay integrates historical, conceptual, and practical perspectives to fully explain the potentials of focus group research, with the goal of advancing a set of understandings about focus group work that attends to its relatively unique potentials for conducting qualitative inquiry across a wide range of topics and disciplinary contexts.
