The article is devoted to the consideration of two piano sonatas by A. Scriabin, representing in a complex the peculiarities of his piano style as an integral phenomenon. The two-part sonata No. 2, classified as a musical landscape, is considered in comparison with the performing versions proposed by S. Richter and V. Ashkenazy. The one-part Sonata No. 9, called “Black Mass”, is considered in comparison with the performing interpretations of V. Sofronitsky and V. Horowitz. It is noted that the Scriabin’s piano style is inherently mixed, compositional and performing, and its grandiose macrocycle of 10 sonatas appears as a compendium of the principles of piano thinking for the post-romantic era. The universalism of Scriabin’s writing is confirmed using the comparative method of analysis, for the first time proposed in this article in relation to the works under consideration. It was revealed that the style in music appears as “a system of stable features of musical phenomena, a way of their differentiation and integration at various levels” (S. Tyshko). The style is distinguished by a tendency to identify the individual, unique, “humanistic” in the broad sense of the word and has a hierarchical structure, within which there is a level characterized as “the style of any kind of music” (V. Kholopova), among which the piano style stands out. Scriabin’s piano sonatas combine the categories of “instrument style”, “author’s style” and “performer’s style” at the style level. It was revealed that the figurative and artistic duality of the Second sonata is reflected in the interpretations presented by S. Richter (the “classical” version, focused on the exact observance of the author’s text remarques, sounding in some places even like in Beethoven’s works), and V. Ashkenazy (the “romantic” version containing a whole complex of articulatory means added by the performer, most of all close to Chopin’s “sonic placers”). The main factor that determines the peculiarities of the performance of the Ninth sonata is the transfer of the playing of harmonic timbre-colors, in which the melodic horizontal turns out to be inert in itself and manifests itself only in harmonic lighting in combination with articulatory attributes. It is noted that A. Scriabin creates in the Ninth sonata actually a special type of texture, accentuating the parameter of depth, based on the stereophonic effect “further — closer”. In the conclusions on the article, it is noted that the stylistic “arch” of two Scriabin’s sonatas highlighted in it helps to comprehend the holistic character and contextual connections of the sonata-piano style of the great Russian composer-innovator, to find “keys” to actual interpretations of his other piano sonatas, an example of which is analyzed interpretation samples of such masters as V. Sofronitsky and V. Horowitz (Ninth sonata) and S. Richter and V. Ashkenazy (Second sonata).

Der vorliegende Beitrag setzt die Überlegungen eines Forschungsentwurfs fort, dessen erster Teil im Band 63/2 dieser Zeitschrift erschien. Die historische Formel des sog. ›Disjunktionsprinzps‹ entwickelt Panofsky u.a. in dem 1944 im Kenyon Review erschienenen Artikel Renaissance and Renascences. The article continues the considerations of a research draft, the first part of which was published in volume 63/2 of this journal. Panofsky develops the historical formula of the socalled ›principle of disjunction‹ in the article ›Renaissance and Renascences‹ published in the Kenyon Review in 1944. The fundamental mobility of ancient cultural elements, which he ascribes to his formula, implies a previously unnamed cultural-theoretical approach with a clear proximity to the ethnological model of diffusion. On this basis, Panofsky uses a cultural morphological approach to design a transepochal model of cultural transmission. This enables him to consolidate the idea of a hierarchical structure of human (cultural) epochs using the example of the reception of antiquity. In order to approach the cultural-theoretical implications in Panofsky’s remarks, those stations that may have shaped Panofsky’s intellectual horizon will be examined – e.g. the influence of Aby Warburg, who completed his education in Bonn under the teachings of Karl Lamprecht, among others. On the other hand, Panofsky’s argumentation is compared with the ideas of German diffusionists. The comparative method not only reveals clear analogies for the first time, but also shows how Panofsky uses the reception of antiquity to provide a specific idea of human cultural history

Abstract Confinement of molecules in one dimensional arrays of channel-shaped cavities has led to technologically interesting materials. However, the interactions governing the supramolecular aggregates still remain obscure, even for the most common guest molecule: water. Herein, we use computational chemistry methods (#compchem) to study the water organization inside two different channel-type environments: zeolite L – a widely used matrix for inclusion of dye molecules, and ZLMOF – the closest metal-organic-framework mimic of zeolite L. In ZLMOF, the methyl groups of the ligands protrude inside the channels, creating nearly isolated nanocavities. These cavities host well-separated ring-shaped clusters of water molecules, dominated mainly by water-water hydrogen bonds. ZLMOF provides arrays of “isolated supramolecule” environments, which might be exploited for the individual confinement of small species with interesting optical or catalytic properties. In contrast, the one dimensional channels of zeolite L contain a continuous supramolecular structure, governed by the water interactions with potassium cations and by water-water hydrogen bonds. Water imparts a significant energetic stabilization to both materials, which increases with the water content in ZLMOF and follows the opposite trend in zeolite L. The water network in zeolite L contains an intriguing hypercoordinated structure, where a water molecule is surrounded by five strong hydrogen bonds. Such a structure, here described for the first time in zeolites, can be considered as a water pre-dissociation complex and might explain the experimentally detected high proton activity in zeolite L nanochannels.

We extend our previous work on the precision electroweak tests in the Sp (6)L× U (1)Y family model to include for the first time the important [Formula: see text] vertex corrections encoded in a new variable ∊b, utilizing all the latest LEP data. We include in our analysis the one-loop EW radiative corrections due to the new bosons in terms of ∊1,b and ΔΓZ. We find that the correlation between ∊1 and ∊b makes the combined constraint much stronger than the individual ones. The model is consistent with the recent CDF result of [Formula: see text] but it; cannot accommodate mt≳195 GeV .

Abstract The accumulation and distribution of characteristic secondary products in the different organs of an Aloe plant (A. succotrina Lam.) were studied by high performance liquid chromatography for the first time. In the leaves of the Aloe plant, only anthrone-C-glycosyls of the 7-hydroxyaloin type and, for the first time in plant material, the free anthraquinone 7-hydroxyaloeemodin were found. In contrast to previous reports on the distribution of secondary products in Aloe plants, anthrone-C-glycosyls were also detected in flowers, bracts and the inflorescence axis of the species examined. Aloesaponol I, a tetrahydroanthracene aglycone, was only present in the underground organs and in the stem. The 2-alkylchromone-C-glucosyl aloeresin B showed no specific occurrence as it was found in every type of organ. Based on these results and the findings of recent studies on Aloe roots and flowers, a distribution scheme of polyketide types in the Aloe plant was established. It suggests a separate and independent anthranoid metabolism for underground Aloe organs and stem on the one hand, and for leaves and inflorescence organs on the other hand. In the latter structures anthranoid metabolism seems to be additionally compartmentalized as the anthranoid pro files of inflorescence organs and leaves differ in two points relevant to anthranoid biosynthe sis: firstly, the occurrence of anthrone aglycones and secondly, the individual content of corresponding anthrone-C-glucosyl diastereomers.

The article considers the concept of Schastie/Bakht (Happiness) in the Russian and Uzbek linguistic cultures as one of the most important universal concepts with a national component. On the one hand, the study is conditioned by the interest of modern contrastive linguistics in the comparative research of concepts with a national component. On the other hand, it continues scientific works concerned with the concept of Schastie in the Russian linguistic culture and the concept of Bakht in the Uzbek linguistic culture. The novelty of this study is determined by the fact that this concept is compared for the first time using set phrases of two languages and based on an analytical review of the relevant sources. The article aims at determining common and different components for the Uzbek and Russian linguistic cultures with regard to the Happiness concept (according to the data obtained from the analysis of the above-mentioned material). The article presents the results of an analytical review of studies on the concept of Schastie in the Russian linguistic culture and the concept of Bakht in the Uzbek linguistic culture, as well as contrastive analysis of phraseological units related to the verbalization of these concepts. To analyze and compare idioms of two unrelated languages (Russian and Uzbek) and ways of verbalizing the concept, the authors used the method of linguistic and cultural description supplemented by the component analysis of lexemes and the comparative method. As a result, general and specific meanings for the words “schastie” and “bakht” were identified, as well as general and specific components of the Happiness concept.

The article deals with the problem of a person’s conscious choice between happiness and suffering. At first glance, happiness and suffering are two different paths, and one should choose which road to take. On the one hand, suffering is an obstacle on the way to oneself, to a happy existence. On the other hand, one chooses suffering and happiness willingly, happiness is proportionate to suffering. One should not forget that existence has no meaning if it brings merely pain and dissatisfaction, so it is very important to strive to be happy. Throughout the entire history of humanity, the problem of happiness and the search for the best way to be released from suffering is a pressing issue. The relevance of the problem is determined by the particular significance of the concepts under study, because every person’s natural desire, regardless of the era and area of residence, is to be happy and free. The concepts of “happiness” and “suffering” are not only philosophical but also sociocultural phenomena that expound the axiological and spiritual and moral aspects of human existence. The study features quotes from thinkers of different ages and cultures that to an extent engaged in interpreting the content of the phenomena of happiness and suffering. The purpose of the study is to expound the sociocultural content of the phenomena of “happiness” and “suffering”, their causes, and the conditions for coexistence. The main methods of the study are the method of systemic analysis, the comparative method, and the typological method. The novelty of the study consists in the fact that the authors examine the phenomena of “happiness” and “suffering” together for the first time. Although the phenomena are an integral part of human activity.

The relevance of the study. The name of Swedish composer and violin virtuoso of the Romantic era Amanda Maier-Röntgen is virtually unknown in Ukrainian musicology. Her work was forgotten for long time and rediscovered by European (particulary Swedish) and American musicians. But at one time she was the first woman who received the title of “Musik Direktor” after graduating from the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. She also perfected her performing and composing mastership in Leipzig, her work was praised by critics and leading European musicians: E. Grieg, J. Brahms, K. Schumann, with whom A. Maier maintained creative contacts. Existing research in European and American musicology considers basically only biography and performing activity of A. Maier, not her composer style or genre-stylistic and compositional features of her works. The main objective of the research is to consider the stylistic parameters in chamber music works by A. Maier, in particular, her interpretation of the piano trio genre. The methodology of the study is based on the main methods of music science: compositional, harmonic, polyphonic, intonation genre-stylistic analysis, historical-comparative method. The main findings and conclusions of the study. The Trio in E flat major by A. Maier embodies both the most characteristic features of this genre that have developed in the works of classical composers, and the achievements of Romantic composers of the Austrian-German school of the first half of the nineteenth century, and the latter have priority in this work. Continuity with classical traditions can be traced in the four-part structure of the cycle, which has become typical for the trio genre, beginning with the works by L. van Beethoven; in specific techniques of ensemble writing (unison presentation of the initial theme with all instruments, dialogicity — comparison of the sound of ensemble tutti and solo piano; elements of imitation in strings part; polyphonic work with themes in development). Fundamental role of lyrics, reliance on the song and romance intonations, the kinship of themes within each of the parts, end-to-end thematic development, and thematic arches between the movements in composer thinking of A. Maier comes from Romanticism. Among the individual features inherent in the Trio A. Maier — laconic composition, plasticity of melodic lines, exceptional fluidity and coherence of form, which is achieved due to intonational similarity of the themes, openness of the syntactic structures or veiling of the cadences, organicity of the modulation transitions; dynamism of the developing sections. Also, some melodic and harmonic elements of the Trio (for example, in the themes of the middle sections of Scherzo and Andante) hint at the Scandinavian national folklore. Amanda Mayer's trio represents the best achievements of the romantic stage in the evolution of the genre: your embodiment of classical traditions together with the disclosure of personal lyrical and psychological content.

Maintenance of the individual patterns of gene expression in different cell types is required for the differentiation and development of multicellular organisms. Expression of many genes is controlled by Polycomb (PcG) and Trithorax (TrxG) group proteins that act through association with chromatin. PcG/TrxG are assembled on the DNA sequences termed PREs (Polycomb Response Elements), the activity of which can be modulated and switched from repression to activation. In this study, we analyzed the influence of transcriptional read-through on PRE activity switch mediated by the yeast activator GAL4. We show that a transcription terminator inserted between the promoter and PRE doesnt prevent switching of PRE activity from repression to activation. We demonstrate that, independently of PRE orientation, high levels of transcription fail to dislodge PcG/TrxG proteins from PRE in the absence of a terminator. Thus, transcription is not the main factor required for PRE activity switch.
