Purpose of research. The study aimed to develop a statistical model of an image of women’s weightlifting. Methods and organization of research. The first stage of the study involved interviewing 77 Moscow schoolgirls aged 12–14. The girls were asked to express their associations, thoughts, or value judgments related to women’s weightlifting. The obtained data were processed using qualitative and quantitative content analysis. The second stage of the study focused on selecting antonymic (opposite in meaning) pairs of statements characterizing women’s weightlifting. Thus, a set of 31 bipolar scales of the semantic differential was obtained. In the third stage of the study, the same 77 schoolgirls aged 12–14 were asked to evaluate their attitude to women’s weightlifting using the developed semantic differential scales. The obtained data underwent factor analysis with the rotation of reference axes according to the Varimax criterion. The result of factorization was a statistical model of the image of women’s weightlifting. Research result. The statistical (factor) model of the image of women’s weightlifting consists of seven components with groups of characteristics inherent in each of them: 1) aesthetic qualities, the popularity of the sport, its positive impact on the corporal and personal dimension of women; 2) gender appropriateness of the sport and its positive effect on health and social status of women; 3) accessibility (physical, financial) and safety of the sport; 4) the quality of the sports infrastructure, demand for this kind of sport among the youth; 5) influence on women’s social status; 6) positive impact on the moral and volitional powers of women going in for weightlifting; fashion for men’s sports; 7) public recognition of sporting success and achievements of national athletes. Conclusion. The results of the research can be used to develop a program for correcting the women’s weightlifting image and to formulate arguments for the successful positioning of women’s weightlifting among teenagers and young people. Keywords: women’s weightlifting, image, teenage girls, factor model of the women’s weightlifting image.

Fans are main components e.g. in heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems for vehicles or buildings, cooling units of engines and electronic circuits, and household appliances such as kitchen exhaust hoods or vacuum cleaners. End-users increasingly demand a high sound quality of their system or device. The overall objective of a recent research project at the University of Siegen is a multidimensional assessment of fan sound quality. In a first step an advanced novel semantic differential for the assessment of fan-related sounds is established with the aid of carefully designed jury tests. Eventually, this semantic differential is employed for sound quality jury tests of fans in kitchen exhaust hoods, heat pumps and air purifiers as a first case. Finally, a prediction model is suggested, which relates the outcome from the jury tests to objective metrics. A principal component analysis is carried out and yields five main assessment criteria with 23 relevant adjective scales. The results show that the perceived sound quality of fan systems is mainly determined by the loudness and tonality of the sound. The spectral content (represented by the sharpness) as well as the time structure (represented by the roughness) have no significant impact on perceived sound quality of the fan systems investigated.

This study analyzes social perceptions towards groups with different types of disability, as well as the relationship between the judgments towards these groups, oneself and other significant individuals. The assessment was carried out using a Semantic Differential scale completed by181 participants. Results supported the Stereotype Content Model, as the different groups with disabilities were perceived in a more uniform way than those who did not share this label, and people with intellectual disability elicited paternalistic feelings. The results also support a two-factor model to explore the content of the stereotypes. Understanding the factors that contribute to the formation of social judgments is key to the implementation of actions that modify stereotypes and prejudices and promote equity.

Introduction. The short-term (quarterly) forecast of GDP is based on factor variables of the financial and non-financial sectors of the economy, indicators of foreign economic activity, indicators of economic activity, etc. Although the statistics of these indicators are available on a monthly basis, but its disclosure comes with a certain lag, and values over time can be reviewed and clarified. These data can be used to estimate the quarterly value of GDP before the official information about its empirical volume is published. Purpose. The article aims to forecast the quarterly real GDP of Ukraine by means of a dynamic factor model on the basis of the quarterly and monthly values of the main social and economic macro indicators of Ukraine. The method (methodology). To achieve the task, we have used the econometric methods of macroeconomic modelling, namely the dynamic factor model, the Kalman filter, the method of the main components, etc. Results. The forecast of GDP of Ukraine for the first two quarters of 2018 has been obtained with the help of a dynamic factor model. On the basis of comparison of the obtained forecast with the empirical values of Ukraine's GDP for the similar period, which is published by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, it has been proven the adequacy of the model and the high quality of the results has been concluded.

Mexico concentrates the marginalization in the southeastern states, to counteract this problem the federal government implemented several universal social programs, including Prospera. This research analyzes the impact generated among the beneficiaries of the Prospera Program based on income from work, and the variables of education, health, food security, both at the state level in Veracruz and Oaxaca and in the Istmo region that integrate both states. The Propensity Score Matching method was used to assess the impacts on labor inclusion that have those who receive the program, in contrast, with those who do not receive federal support. In addition, through the Analysis of Main Components, we related the productive and marginalization variables to find the characteristics of the study population. The results show that the Prospera program does not have a significant impact on the per capita income of the head of household. However, quintiles two and five have greater negative effects for the population from the Istmo. It is essential to revalue the Prospera Program strategy and incorporate more rigorous administration to have a positive impact for the rural population dedicated to agricultural activities.

Abstract The main reason of children’s low interest in the study of natural science subjects is the inability to link the knowledge acquired at school to subjects such as chemistry or physics with real life outside the classroom. Their ideas about the scientists are often mistaken and glamorized. With the effort of the Vebor camp, these ideas are corrected and shifted towards reality. The research was focused on the perception of children of selected concepts before and after the camp. There are many researches fields dealing with science camps or teaching outside of school. Our research has used the semantic differential method, which we have seen only sporadically in research on this subject. The results of the research are mostly positive and show that the scientific camp has a positive impact on the understanding and perception of children of selected aids from the area of science and education. Very interesting are the results, for example, when the term of “teacher”, where the connotative perception of the term has changed from very negative to highly positive with statistical significance of 99 %. Many of the more interesting results are presented in the article.
