Abstract. The authors present the results of a study of the genetic characteristics of Carum carvi seeds (Carum carvi) in the northern forest-steppe of the Tyumen region. The purpose of the work is to study the genetic resources of medicinal and spicy – aromatic plants of the Northern Trans-Urals, to distinguish endemic forms from Carum carvi populations with valuable economic and biological characteristics. The area of priority areas is the study of this culture with a subsequent increase in the production of medicinal raw materials for the pharmaceutical and food industries. The novelty lies in the fact that for the first time in the northern forest-steppe of the Tyumen region at the Scientific Research Institute of Agricultural Sciences of the Northern Trans-Urals, a branch of the Federal Research Center of the Tyumen Scientific Center of the SB RAS, the feed production department, endemic forms from Carum carvi populations were studied. The variety Aromatnyy was used as a standard. Methods. Counts and observations were carried out according to the experimental technique. The collection nursery contains 200 samples of endemic forms of the 2nd year of life, of which 12 samples of this species were isolated. Of the forms previously introduced and adapted to local conditions, there were 150 plants of the same species of the 2nd year of life planted in 2017, of which 12 plants were isolated. The plot size is 9 m2. Results. In a collection nursery 350 samples of Carum carvi seeds of ordinary endemic and introduced forms of plants were studied. With the high seed yield and the highest content of essential oils in relation to the standard Aromatnyy variety, in the study of endemic forms, two samples of the second year of life, No. 1-2-2, and No. 1-4-2, were distinguished, and when studying introduced samples by seed productivity, the following were distinguished: No. 12-1-2 and No. 2-4-1 – 27.0 g per plant. The selected population samples for economically useful traits are a valuable genetic source for the yield of raw materials and the accumulation of essential oils.

The main source of vegetable protein in world production is legumes, including peas (Pisum sativum L.). The creation of new highly productive pea varieties, adapted to local conditions, will solve the problem of food and feed protein. Modern varieties also should be characterized by high homeostaticity and stable productivity in a changing climate. The aim of the study was to study the homeostaticity of pea varieties on the basis of grain yield in the southern forest-steppe of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The studies were conducted on the experimental field of Soil Science, Botany and Plant Breeding Department at the Educational and Scientific Center of Bashkir State Agrarian University in 2009-2018. The soil of the experimental plot is leached chernozem of heavy loam granulometric composition. During the research years weather conditions were contrasting. The object of the study was the following pea varieties: Chishminsky 95, Chishminsky 229, Aksaysky usatuy 55 and in memory of Khangildin. Grain yield was recorded. The overall homeostaticity of the varieties (Hom) was determined. In our studies, the grain productivity of the studied pea varieties varied greatly from year to year. On average, over 10 years, the varieties Chishminsky 229 and a variety in memory of Khangildin were the most productive, and the least productive was Aksaysky usatuy 55 variety. Data analysis showed that the variety has a limiting effect on crop yield resistance to environmental stress factors. Varieties Chishminsky 229 (Hom = 36.6), in memory of Khangildin (Hom = 36.5) were characterized by the highest index of homeostaticity, and the variety Aksaysky usatuy 55 (Hom = 26.5) was the least. The varieties of Chishminsky 229 (Sc = 3.44), in memory of Khangildin (Sc = 3.35) and Chishminsky 95 (Sc = 3.38) possessed the highest breeding value.

The growth of the essential oils market is explained by the growing demand for natural and organic products. Today, the global aromatherapy market with essential oils is growing, and demand for essential oils is increasing at the same rate. The studies are dedicated to the valuable essential oil culture ‒ fennel, the spread of which in the forest-steppe zone of Ukraine will allow to obtain high profitability by agro-forming of different forms of ownership and will help to provide the Ukrainian market with raw materials of appropriate quality. The article offers a solution to the pressing issue of expanding the area of new unconventional culture in the conditions of the Forest-Steppe of Ukraine by improving technological measures in the cultivation of culture. The basis of scientific research is the study of sowing terms (1st decade of April, for soil LTR 6-80C), (2nd decade of April, for LTR of soil 10-120C); row spacing (5, 30, 45 and 60 cm) and seeding rates (1, 1.5 and 2 million sprouting seeds per hectare). Among the plans of the research tasks were: to conduct the accounting of yields and to determine indicators of seeds quality (the content of essential oil in fennel seeds and its conditional yield per hectare of sowing), depending on the studied factors. Crop accounting was performed by continuous submerged threshing. The yield was brought to 100% purity and standard humidity according to the method described by V.O. Moiseychenko and V.O. Yeshchenko. Mathematical data processing was performed according to the method of B.A. Dopehova. The results of the research show that the sowing variants in the first decade of April, with a wide-row method (45 cm) sowing rate of one million sprouting seeds per hectare, yielded the optimum yield of fennel – 1.48 t / ha. In the same variant, the maximum content of essential oil was obtained – 6.23% and its yield from the hectare sowing area‒ 59.2 kg.

The article presents field trials results of Krasnoobskaya variety soybean cultivation, developed jointly by the scientists of Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture of North Urals - branch of Tyumen Scientific Center of the Siberian branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, (Tyumen region) and Siberian Federal Scientific Center of Agrobiotechnologies of Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk Region) are presented by individual selection of somaclonal lines from Siberian Research Institute of Feedstuff 315 type of soybean. An economic morphological signs of a new Krasnoobskaya variety of soybean was conducted when growing it on dark gray forest soils in the northern forest-steppe of the Northern Urals. The variety is early maturing, the duration of the growing season is 79-95 days, it is intended for grain use. The productivity for the years of competitive testing (Siberian Federal Scientific Center of Agrobiotechnologies of Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk) averaged 2.07 tons per hectare, 0.31 tons per hectare higher than Siberian Research Institute of Feedstuff 315 type. The maximum yield of seeds is 2.42 tons per hectare. According to the results of research in the conditions of the northern forest-steppe of Tyumen region, Krasnoobskaya - a new variety of soybean of early maturation type showed satisfactory results in the morphology of plant development, productivity and seed quality. Morphologically, the attachment of the lower bean is 1.1 cm higher than that of Siberian Research Institute of Feedstuff 315 type, the average protein content in the Krasnobobskaya soybean was 34.0% on average over 2 years, 2.2% higher than the standard, and 19.6% higher in fat standard level. The productivity of the variety for 2 years of research exceeded the standard of Siberian Research Institute of Feedstuff 315 type by an average of 0.08 tons per hectare or 10.6%.

Recently, scientists and producers have been paying increasing attention to niche crops that are able to significantly diversify the monocultural oil field of dominance in the crop rotation of sunflower, soybean and rapeseed. In today's climate, one of these crops is mustard, which at the same time, with the ability to form stable yields of seeds and raw materials of good quality, is distinguished by its relative unpretentiousness to external factors. Purpose. Improvement of elements of technology of cultivation and determination of their influence on productivity of mustard white. Methods. The studies involved the use of standardized methods: field – to determine the yield, biometric records and measurements, laboratory – to determine the agrophysical properties of the soil, the content of the basic nutrients in it, to determine the structure of the crop; calculated – evaluation of the economic efficiency of the elements of white mustard growing technology studied; statistical – analysis of variance. The article presents the results of studies to study the effect of different doses of fertilizers, micro fertilizers on seed yields and oil the content in white mustard seeds. Optimal parameters of elements of technology of cultivation of mustard white, which provide maximum yield in the conditions of the northern forest-steppe of Ukraine, are established. As a result of the research, it was found that the highest seed yield of white mustard seed (2,58 t/ha) with oil content (43,29 %) was provided by the application of fertilizer with fertilizer at a dose of N45P60K90 and foliar feeding with Tropicel. The significance of the influence of the investigated factors on the crop yield is estimated. It was established that in 2016–2018. factors in terms of the degree of influence on the yield of the white mustard variety Belaya Princess in terms of importance can be arranged as follows: mineral fertilizers – 14.3 %, treatment of crops with micronutrient fertilizer Tropikel – 52.2 %. Cost-effec-tiveness analysis showed that profitability (225 %) and profit (UAH 32158) reached the highest values by growing white mustard using technology that involves the introduction of N45P60K90 and foliar fertilization of Tropikel microfertilizers. Background. An urgent problem is the development and introduction of cultivars for universal use that can meet the demand of animal husbandry for various types of feed and that of food industry for raw materials. Of great interest in this regard is ‘Tobolyak’, a new spring oat cultivar characterized by a high yield of grain and green biomass.Materials and methods. The cultivar was developed at the Research Institute of Agriculture for the Northern TransUrals, a branch of the Tyumen Scientific Centre, Siberian Branch of the RAS, using hybridization techniques with subsequent selection. The cultivars used as source material for hybridization were ‘Tayoznik’ (Narym Agricultural Station, Tomsk Province) and ‘Orion’ (Siberian Research Institute of Agriculture, Omsk Province).Results. It is a mid-ripening cultivar, with the growing season of 71 to 83 days from sprouting to wax ripeness; its plants are medium-tall (89.6 to 120.2 cm), and resistant to lodging. The average grain yield for the years of study (2014–2019) under the environmental conditions of the northern forest-steppe (Tyumen Province) was 5.88 t/ha (+0.41 t/ha to the reference). The maximum grain yield (7.97 t/ha) was obtained in 2019 at the Lower Tavda Variety Testing Plot, Tyumen Province. The cultivar formed a grain with the test weight of 459.5–527.0 g/l and a low hull content of 22.1–25.1%. The yield of green biomass varied from 31.4 to 47.3 t/ha, depending on the growing conditions, and averaged 37.7 t/ha in 2014–2019 (+7.3 t/ha to the reference). Dry matter harvest averaged 11.76 t/ha (+1.54 t/ha to the reference), ranging from 8.62 to 14.56 t/ha.Conclusion. The new spring oat cultivar ‘Tobolyak’ for universal use has been listed the State Register for Selection Achievements since 2020 and recommended for cultivation in regions 10, 11 and 12 of the Russian Federation.


Introduction of complex mineral fertilizer of an azofoska in combination with ammonium nitrate and urea to early ripe potatoes of Zhukovsky and Red Scarlett variety on the planned productivity of 40 t/hectare has allowed to achieve a goal. At the same time in control option without fertilizers the productivity was 23,2-24,8 t/hectare. Use of encapsulated urea has led to decrease in productivity and level of profitability by 26,3-30,9%. Early ripe potatoes of Zhukovsky and Red Scarlett variety on natural fertility of the chernozem leached in the northern forest-steppe of the Tyumen region have created average yield of 23,2-24,8 t/hectare for years of researches. Use of complex mineral fertilizer of an azofoska in combination with ammonium nitrate and urea on the planned productivity of 40 t/hectare has led to increase in productivity on the first variety to 39,5 on the second variety up to 41,4 t/hectare. Introduction of the encapsulated urea has led to decrease in productivity of the early ripe potato tubers studied. At the same time, the peel was gentle and when cleaning it was strongly injured. As to the content of starch (11,9-12,6%) at both varieties the big difference between ex-perience options isn't revealed. The similar picture was observed also according to tastes of tubers. It has made 3,2-3,5 points at Zhukovsky variety and 3,4-3,7 points at Red Scarlett's variety. Profitability level in con-trol option at Zhukovsky variety was 157,3%, at Red Scarlett's variety – 140,5%. In options with non-encapsulated ammonium nitrate and urea the first variety got 172,6-184,1%, second variety – 190,4-207,2%. In option with encapsulated urea at varieties under study the profitability level has decreased 26,3-30,9.

Abstract Background Essential oil of Rosa × damascena Herrm. is one of the most valuable and important raw materials for the flavor and fragrance industry. The cultivation of this plant has ancient origins, and Kashan was one of the first mountainous regions of Iran dealing with the cultivation of R. × damascena. In this study, both chemical composition and antimicrobial activity of different rose essential oils obtained from five mountainous areas of Kashan region (Maragh, Qamsar, Sadeh, Javinan, and Kamoo) has been investigated along with the influence of the environmental conditions on these properties. Results Results showed that yield and chemical composition of essential oils obtained from Rosa × damascena were significantly affected by the collection area. In particular, the yield of oils varied from ~0.08 to ~0.132% and citronellol (36.70-9.18%), geraniol (12.82-0.47%), nonadecane (22.73-10.36%), heneicosane (31.7-11.43%), and 1-nonadecene (6.03-3.93%) have been detected as main compounds in all the plants collected, but at different concentrations depending on the collection area. The best fragrance and the highest yield were found in the oil from Kamoo area. Similarly to the chemical composition, the antimicrobial activity of the essential oils was affected by their origin, and essential oil obtained from plants collected from Kamoo area disclosed the highest antibacterial and antifungal efficacy. Its inhibition halos were 17.33±0.58 mm against Aspergillus brasiliensis, 15.67±0.58 mm against Staphylococcus aureus, and 12.33±0. 58 mm against Streptococcus pyogenes. Essential oils of R. damascena were also effective against Gram-negative Pseudomonas aeruginosa and they had a MIC value of 62.50 μg/mL irrespective of the collection area (except the oil from Javinan area). On the contrary, the highest antifungal power against Candida albicans yeast was reached using the essential oil obtained from plants collected in Javinan region (MIC and MBC ~62.50 μg/mL). Conclusions Overall results underline the influence of environmental conditions of the different areas of Kashan region, on the chemical composition of and antimicrobial activity of the essential oils of Rosa × damascena. In addition, results disclosed that Kamoo seemed to be the most suitable area for the competitive cultivation of R. × damascena to the intensive production of aromatic flower oil and natural antimicrobial essential oils.

Herbs and spices have been used since antiquity for their nutritional and health properties, as well as in traditional remedies for the prevention and treatment of many diseases. Therefore, this study aims to perform a chemical analysis of both essential oils (EOs) from the seeds of Carum carvi (C. carvi) and Coriandrum sativum (C. sativum) and evaluate their antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-acetylcholinesterase, and antidiabetic activities alone and in combination. Results showed that the EOs mainly constitute monoterpenes with γ-terpinene (31.03%), β-pinene (18.77%), p-cymene (17.16%), and carvone (12.20%) being the major components present in C. carvi EO and linalool (76.41%), γ-terpinene (5.35%), and α-pinene (4.44%) in C. sativum EO. In comparison to standards, statistical analysis revealed that C. carvi EO showed high and significantly different (p < 0.05) antioxidant activity than C. sativum EO, but lower than the mixture. Moreover, the mixture exhibited two-times greater ferric ion reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) (IC50 = 11.33 ± 1.53 mg/mL) and equipotent chelating power (IC50 = 31.33 ± 0.47 mg/mL) than the corresponding references, and also potent activity against 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) (IC50 = 19.00 ± 1.00 mg/mL), β-carotene (IC50 = 11.16 ± 0.84 mg/mL), and superoxide anion (IC50 = 10.33 ± 0.58 mg/mL) assays. Antimicrobial data revealed that single and mixture EOs were active against a panel of pathogenic microorganisms, and the mixture had the ability to kill more bacterial strains than each EO alone. Additionally, the anti-acetylcholinesterase and α-glucosidase inhibitory effect have been studied for the first time, highlighting the high inhibition effect of AChE by C. carvi (IC50 = 0.82 ± 0.05 mg/mL), and especially by C. sativum (IC50 = 0.68 ± 0.03 mg/mL), as well as the mixture (IC50 = 0.63 ± 0.02 mg/mL) compared to the reference drug, which are insignificantly different (p > 0.05). A high and equipotent antidiabetic activity was observed for the mixture (IC50 = 0.75 ± 0.15 mg/mL) when compared to the standard drug, acarbose, which is about nine times higher than each EO alone. Furthermore, pharmacokinetic analysis provides some useful insights into designing new drugs with favorable drug likeness and safety profiles based on a C. carvi and C. sativum EO mixture. In summary, the results of this study revealed that the combination of these EOs may be recommended for further food, therapeutic, and pharmaceutical applications, and can be utilized as medicine to inhibit several diseases.
