The word "freedom" at all times was worried by progressive humanity. The notion of "freedom of conscience" is one of the specific varieties of the word. At the end of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. He was interpreted in all ways abroad and in Russia in particular. Declared by the manifesto of the king in 1905, the freedom of conscience, according to many, did not bring the expected release of "religious slavery." For several decades, the Soviet ideologues have argued that only the Leninist decree on freedom of conscience, church and religious organizations, or, in other words, the Decree on the separation of church from state and school from the church, issued in 1918, marked a new era in the spiritual life of the people.

Acquaintance with the work of "Problems of Ukrainian Religious Consciousness" by Arsen Richinsky showed that the questions raised by the researcher at the beginning of XX century. even more actualized at the beginning of the XXI century. - in the period of Ukrainian Independent Nation's approval, when with the adoption of the Law of Ukraine "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations", in 1991 the influence of religious factor on the consciousness of Ukrainian society increased. This research, without exaggeration, is a tremendous contribution to the Ukrainian theoretical and practical religious studies. Also important is the scientific editing and streamlining of its leading contemporary scholars in the field of national-religious issues A. Kolodny, O. Sagan, and A. Goodyma, without which it would remain unknown to the reader and history as a whole, and would not be an incomplete component of the Christian factor - universal perception of the gospel doctrine through the prism of national color.

During COVID-19, many people in the world experienced tremendous suffering. Because of its strong infection rate, people avoided gathering. In these circumstances, public worship, which is the heartbeat of the church, has declined. The decline in participation is especially true among one group of marginalized people: the people who are cognitively challenged. Traditionally, the Korean Church has not had much concern about the matter of public worship and the sacraments for those who are cognitively challenged, except for a few churches which have special departments for ministries to special populations. During the COVID-19 situation, these ministries have slowed, which means that those who benefited have had few opportunities to join worship services or participate in religious education. Going forward, there is a high possibility of another pandemic. Therefore, it is time to prepare for the future. Some churches have utilized online worship and Zoom meetings, showing that the cognitively challenged can effectively participate in online worship and religious education if family members can help them. Churches should invest in new platforms which harmonize onsite worship and online worship and expand resources to create new software for Christian education.

Glass in the image – image in glass. Preaching in fragments and fragments of preaching . . . The view that the sermon is an ‘open work of art’, promoted the awareness that the ‘meaning’ of a sermon is not fixed, but that possibilities are presented for the listeners to ‘assign meaning’. ‘Assigning meaning’ does not mean something fully ad libitum: ‘meaning’ is formed within the guidelines of the text from which a sermon stems. Visual works of art could also be based on Biblical texts or stories, analysed and interpreted by the artist. The artist could mould the encounter with the Biblical text into various forms of art, proclaiming the gospel in ways similar to that of a spoken sermon: a work of art could present possibilities for assigning meaning related to faith. In this article the new stained glass windows, symbolically depicting the Liturgical Year, in a Dutch Reformed church in Pretoria, are discussed with a view to the possibilities they present to form part of experience-based religious education in ‘bringing home’ stories from the Bible and aspects of the Liturgical Year. Also asked is how they could function as visual ‘sermons’, speaking and communicating the ‘Word of God’ to the people inside the church, as well as to people on the outside.

Since he became pope, Jorge Mario Bergoglio seems to have started a new era in the Vatican. As is usually said, he is the first Jesuit and the first South American in history to govern the Catholic Church. Francis, as it will be argued here, raises many interesting questions to political theory. His figure is now globally accepted in a world where politicians lack of popularity or loose it very soon. ¿Will he solve the deep legitimation crisis of the Church he received? Besides, his critics from within and fro outside the Church, accused him of being a populist. They say he comes from a country with a deep inclination to populism. ¿How much has Argentine political culture, and recent history, influenced Francis’s political strategy? Francis has also changed the bulk of the Church discourse towards society, insisting in subjects like social inequality, motivating priests to go with joy where the people are an denouncing the tragedies of migrants as well as the sadness and solitude of those living in contemporary world, even if they are not poor. This article will address those topics and offer an answer to the theoretical questions they pose.

Concern about the People and the Mother Country: The Beacons of Cardinal August Hlond from 1945–1948 The life and the activity of Primate Cardinal August Hlond (1881–1948) continuously inspires the search, analysis, and discovery of the meaning of his teachings and his mission within the Church and the society. The return of Cardinal August Hlond to Poland on July 20th1945 was expected to strengthen the nation’s spirit and religious belief in the new post-war reality. His concern about the revival of the mother country and about building state governance on the basis of moral principles and human rights can be seen in all his undertakings. He offered education and care to families and young people. The Christian upbringing of young people, the growth of Catholic youth organizations, the presence of Christian values in school curricula and in secular organizations involved in education –these were the matters he supported and fostered. He was focused on the development of various forms of spiritual life. He responded to the then current problems of religious and community life. As he pursued various measures to these ends, despite the difficulties he encountered, he believed in a mature society of well-educated citizens. Therefore, it seems reasonable to interpret the thoughts of Cardinal Hlond regarding the human being –within the period from 1945 to 1948 –as a person open to transcendence, to infinity (personal subjectivity and their spiritual life), to a person within a family (a family as a community of individuals) and within the society (the national community).

Over the past decade and a half, not only significant quantitative changes have occurred in the religious environment of Ukraine due to the expansion of the institutional network of religious associations, but also significant qualitative progress in the structure and activities of churches and religious organizations. In particular, the role of religious organizations in the state-making process is becoming more evident every year. Consequently, almost no realm of social existence remains virtually outside the influence of the Church. Religious congregations have been particularly intense lately, demonstrating their intentions to implant themselves in a secular educational process and in the educational sphere of Ukraine as a whole.

Religion and Education… The problem of their relationship has long interested the pedagogical community and the Church. Recently, in connection with the actualization of a religious factor in public and spiritual life, the desire of some Churches to use the public school selfishly, outrightly and illegally, it has appeared in Ukraine as well. The question is not whether or not to give knowledge of religion through the education system. The question arises as to what knowledge and to what extent it should be taught, when, where and by whom it should be given. The question also arises as to whether there should be two systems of education in parallel - secular and spiritual, and whether spiritual education by its status should be equated with secular and attested by the same documents as in the sphere of secular life. But if this is the case, then it is likely that spiritual education is then subject to the rule of studying in educational institutions the compulsory list-minimum of the disciplines currently taught in all secular educational establishments and which form a broad outlook on their recipients.

The democratic transformations that have taken place in our country since independence have laid the foundations for new state-church relations. The relations between the state and the Church in this situation have acquired fundamentally new qualities, which, unlike the past, are characterized by a generally stable partnership, mutual respect and cooperation. Such relations are enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations", other legislative acts and international legal agreements.
