A pandemic of a novel coronavirus-infected disease is currently ongoing in the world. Most patients have to be isolated due to the treatments. This study aimed to make sense of how patients with coronavirus-infected disease understand and experience infectious isolation. The research used a qualitative design with a phenomenological approach. Data collection was conducted with in-depth interviews of nine patients with coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) confirmed who had been in the isolation room. The analysis was conducted on interview transcripts by organizing keywords found into categories, sub-themes, and themes based on Colaizzi's approach. The results indicated that the participants experienced fright due to the isolation and attempted to integrate their isolation experiences. Isolation highlighted a sense of threat posed by cross-infection, a threat that participants experienced as originating from others and from themselves to others. Participants described feeling changes experienced after several days of treatment. Participants reported various symptoms of the disease and received careful care while in isolation. They still communicate with family. Isolated patients are able to deal with the treatment by improving their coping strategies. Participants reported the most support from their families, even from a distance. Future research could explore experiences of isolation from family and staff perspectives and identify the psychological aspect in caring for the COVID-19 patients.

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of prevention of drug abuse in adolescents in Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. The method used in this study is a qualitative method. Data collection techniques are done through in-depth interviews and documentation studies. The theory used in this study is the theory of open systems according to Richard M Steers, namely effectiveness can be seen based on three dimensions, namely input, process and output. Based on the results of field research shows that the input, process and output has not been effective. The conclusion of this research is that the effectiveness of prevention of narcotics abuse in adolescents in Ogan Komering Ilir Regency (study at the National Narcotics Agency Ogan komering Ilir Regency) has not been effectively implemented. This research suggests that the effectiveness of preventing narcotics abuse among adolescents (a study at the National Narcotics Agency of Ogan Komering Ilir) can run well and effectively: (1) There needs to be communication and cooperation between BNNK OKI and the Regency Government, Police and Related Agencies to help resources in the prevention of narcotics, (2) socialization activities or counselling on the dangers of anti-drugs must be increased, and (3) prioritizing the use of traditional media.

Members of legislatures are relying on the researchers to guide and advise them on the alternatives to deliver on their constitutional mandates of law making, oversight, public participation and cooperative governance. The researchers are also dependent on the Senior Information Officers for the provision of current comprehensive, unbiased and reliable information in order to develop research and advisory documents to be used by legislators when carrying out their mandates. However, legislators often decry the standard of research and advisory documents, citing the shortcomings which include among others: inadequateness, inaccuracy and lack of credibility of the information upon which they are to base their decisions or policy direction. This study was set out to investigate the extent to which researchers in the legislatures utilise the information provided by the Senior Information Officers (SIOs) and/or the reasons for non-utilisation thereof in cases where information is not utilised. The study used a qualitative research approach to establish meaning from the views of the participants. In-depth interviews were used as a key method of data collection. The findings of this study suggest that the Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s researchers do not make full use of the Information provided to them by the SIOs. Furthermore, researchers appeared not to value the role played by the SIOs in keeping the legislators informed but rather as duplicating the researchers’ role.
