In the late 19th – at the beginning of the 20th century the Ukrainian intelligentsia formed an idea of the importance of personal contribution to the national development in such fields as of education, science and culture. Hryhorii Hryhorovych Kholodnyi was one of those active representatives of the Ukrainian clerisy who responded to this unofficial appeal. The purpose of the work is to analyze the scientific and pedagogical work of H. Kholodnyi. In order to achieve this aim, methods of historicism, objectivity and academic assessment have been used in this research. The academic novelty is the first attempt to analyze the scientific and pedagogical contribution of H. Kholodnyi. H. Kholodnyi’s work on Ukrainian studies began immediately after his graduation from St. Petersburg University, precisely when he moved to Moscow and joined the local Ukrainian community, which was immersed into cultural and educational work. Also, at that time he joined the Society of Slavic Culture and the Ukrainian Publishing Society. Before the revolutionary events of 1917, H. Kholodny's patriotism had been revealed in his persistent work in the number of institutions where he developed Ukrainian scientific terminology and worked on the Ukrainian studies. The February Revolution of 1917 dramatically changed the life of the scientist. Thus, he moved to Ukraine and took an active part in educational and scientific projects in Chernihiv and Kyiv. Moreover, he put a lot of effort into organizing various educational events, the activities of Chernihiv "Prosvita", Chernihiv Scientific Society, the Institute of Ukrainian Scientific Language, etc. The scientist devoted a significant part of his life to cultural and educational activities, in particular he headed Chernihiv Labor School, taught lessons in higher and secondary educational institutions of Chernihiv and Kyiv, organized meetings and guided the work of "Prosvita" and Chernihiv Scientific Society, participated in scientific events of the Institute of Ukrainian Science Language and worked on terminological dictionaries. The study of scientific and pedagogical activity of H. Kholodnyi has allowed to distinguish three stages in his public life: 1) the 1912-1917 period was devoted to priority-setting of his social activities; 2) the 1917-1924 period was characterized by the dominance of the educational factor, 3) while during 1924-1929 the scholar entirely concentrated on the scientific work.

Famous Russian geologist N.A. Golovkinsky published 150 years ago an important scientific work, where the phenomenon of lateral  displacement (movement) of homogeneous lithological layers  («slide» over time) was asserted. This created the most significant  prerequisites for the fundamental facial law: the layers, lying nearby,  were formed in the same sequence vertically. The law was  formulated a little later by A.A. Inostrantsev, and later  «rediscovered» by J. Wal- ter. The ideas, developed by N.A.  Golovkinsky, subsequently found the application in the study of  geological cyclicity, and currently in the booming seismic  stratigraphy. The creative improvement and continuation of  theoretical positions  contained in the Golovkinsky’s work allowed to  advance a method of facially-cyclic analysis, which has been  success- fully used in the study of many coal-bearing strata, and is  currently used for coal-free deposits of the West Siberian oil and gas  basin. Methodically, they develop an understanding of causality and  correspond to the principles of synergetic world-view. The main  content of these ideas remains relevant in the light of new realities  of cognitive process (nonlin-ear science, endovision).

The scientific article presents the first results of the study of the English parable in the diachronic aspect from the synergetic point of view. The research started from the Middle Ages, illustrated and analyzed the first English texts with parable elements, dating from the XIII-XIV centuries. The scientific work is based on historical events, specific writers and their individual style; the development of a parable as an independent type of text and discourse took place under the influence the mentioned above. It is determined that during this period it is difficult to distinguish the English parable in a separate genre of literature of that time, but the authentic English parable confidently functioned as metatext in the great texts of the Middle Ages. Several parable contexts were observed in one text. The article outlines the results of the study and gives examples of texts of a certain era. The general stylistic and synergetic characteristics of the investigated texts are singled out and their classification according to thematic groups is presented: condemnation of negative human traits, relations of God and mankind, interpretation of spiritual truth and moral values. From the synergetic point of view, thematic groups are thematic attractors that contribute to the development and existence with its functional meta-texts with parable elements. The study of English parable texts allowed us to identify of a number of stylistic devices and stylistic features. It is noted that stylistic attractors of the Middle Ages parables are as follows: prose and poetic form, rhetorical and logical-expressive style. The results of scientific work determine the broad perspectives of further research, in particular the study of the English parable in diachrony from the synergetic point of view, as well as the analysis and comparison of the texts of the following centuries with the systematization of their general and specific features

Introduction. The problem of identity is one of the key in both theoretical and applied scientific research of various directions, including in the framework of political psychology. This is largely due to the importance of the formation of common vectors of development of the state, based on the identity shared by most citizens. In this scientific article, the topic of the formation of state-civil identity by means of symbolic capital is actualized, which in turn can both harmonize social relations and introduce dysfunctionality, and be an instrument for mobilizing or polarizing society. The authors attempt to study the social product of the representation and construction of contemporary reality in Russia. Materials and Methods. As a theoretical and methodological research strategy, systemic, integrated and analytical approaches were made. The materials for the scientific work were the results of applied research, in particular, focus group interviews, which, thanks to synergies, allowed us to obtain diverse information about the subject of analysis and to more deeply present its perception. Participants in group discussions were residents of the island. Saransk and two municipal regions of the Republic of Mordovia. Results. Unique data were obtained, on the basis of which it is possible to draw conclusions about the features of the perception of conceptual structures of the formation of state-civil identity in modern Russian society. The difference between the older generation and young people in the perception and symbolic reflection of Russian reality was noted. Moreover, both the sources of obtaining information turned out to be excellent, as did personal and collective positions in determining their own role in the process of creating and assimilating symbols of identity, the level of recognition of symbols of different historical eras, the stability and rooting of the value system. In terms of the perception of symbolic identity elements uniting all age groups of respondents, several phenomena are thematically highlighted, among them “border trauma”, “we are the opposition”, “separation from the powers that be”, “Russian & imperial & Soviet”, “nationalities of Russia = peoples of the USSR” and etc. Discussion and Conclusions. Understanding the specifics of perception of the symbolic-value system of Russians allows us to analyze and evaluate the processes of nation-building and to study the problems of social consolidation. The authors come to the conclusion that the Russians are deficient in spiritual bonds, civil activism is weak; most citizens feel outside the active community.
