In fact, many studies show that, Islamic education are just secondary subjects that are not important. In the end, this study found that the inquiry method stimulates students to think, analyze a problem, and find a solution. Inquiry learning emphasizes the development of cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects in a balanced manner which can provide space for students to learn according to their style. Education stakeholders and researchers in South Africa have emphasised the need to enhance teachers’ creativity through problem-solving tasks. Teachers’ creativity entails using new ideas of creative devices to solve problems, implement solutions, and make learning more effective. In the research reported on here, Guilford’s theory was used to explore primary school pre-service teachers’ solutions to pattern problem-solving tasks based on 3 components of creativity. The data for this research were produced from primary school pre-service teachers’ written responses to the pattern problem-solving tasks, and an extract from participants’ semi-structured interviews. The research involved a qualitative design using convenient purposive sampling to sample 62 pre-service teachers enrolled for a primary mathematics module at a selected higher education institution. Participants’ responses to the written tasks were analysed using content analysis, while the semi-structured interviews were analysed thematically. The result shows that 35 participants were able to draw patterns and express patterns in nth form, while 27 failed to do so. The most common method used to draw a new pattern was counting in 2s and 4s. Furthermore, the result shows that half of the pre-service teachers who participated in the study were not capable of producing varied solutions to pattern tasks. An indication that they did not have the creative potential to prepare learners even after they had been exposed to advanced mathematics content as part of their training process. We recommend that pre service teacher education programmes should include academic activities that could help pre-service teachers enhance creativity through tasks with divergent thinking.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to examine the process of embedding values implemented by excellent teachers in teaching Islamic education in the multi-cultural society. Design/methodology/approach This study was a qualitative study, which used a combination of in-depth interviews, observation and document analysis for data collection. Using a purposive sampling technique, seven excellent Islamic education teachers were selected. The data were analysed using Atlas.ti 7.1.7. Findings The findings of the study show the process of embedding values among excellent teachers include the following aspects: teachers take into consideration the various differences among individuals in their classes, especially of learners’ names and family backgrounds, humour elements, praising of students, lectures, repetition practical areas, problem-solving and question and answer sessions. A variety of methods are used in the process of embedding values including two-way interactions between teachers and students. Teaching happens in stages that link to the cognitive level of the students and these learning environments allow the values to be exposed, taught and personally experienced by the students. Practical implications This study shows that teachers should use various types of teaching methods, i.e. light-hearted element, praising students, lectures, repetition, practical areas, problem-solving and question and answer sessions, to embed values during the lessons of Islamic education. Interaction between students and teachers takes place and creates a transformative process of knowledge and allowing the positive values to be taught effectively. They start to learn and appreciate the values of others and also be able to practice them in their daily lives. The students were exposed to the diversity of culture and various types of background of their friends. The awareness of the teachers in creating a learning environment that is sensitive to all students is very important. Thus, these methods should be taken into consideration by teachers to teach values and should be exposed during teacher training so they are able to implement them in the classroom. Originality/value This paper explores and describes methods of embedding of values used by excellent Islamic education teachers in the lessons of Islamic education. There are very few studies conducted in this area and this qualitative study is focussed on how values are thought in the lessons of Islamic education. These findings can be used by educators to improve the quality of the lessons based on most effective teaching methods used by the teachers in the lessons of Islamic education.

The development of science and technology must be balanced with an increase in the quality of learning in the world of education. The quality of learning becomes low when educators only stick to conventional teaching materials. Strengthened by the existence of Islamic Education teachers delivering teaching materials with the lecture method so that the learning process feels boring, monotonous and less attractive to students. So it is necessary to choose the right learning method in the learning process, one of which is the problem solving method. The problem solving method is interactive learning using one that can improve the quality of learning with active, innovative, creative, effective, and fun learning (PAIKEM) as well as being happy and having weight (Gembot). Abstract This study aims to: First, know how to implement MMT in MI Ash-Siddiqiyyah-3. Second, knowing why it is necessary to implement MMT in Islamic Education Institutions. This type of research is qualitative. Using an educational sociology approach. Data collection was obtained directly from informants through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data display, data verification and confirmation of conclusions. The results of this study indicate that: The implementation of MMT for Islamic Education Institutions in MI Ash-Siddiqiyyah-3 is quite good. However, in MMT implementation the problem solving cycle can be said to be imperfect. Because, although MI Ash-Siddiqiyyah-3 carries a quality system, the Madrasah has never produced a product / graduate. So, for the problem solving cycle, customer satisfaction and happiness can not be analyzed in the element of output. It is necessary to always implement MMT in Islamic Education Institutions, in order to measure the satisfaction-not category, and whether or not happy education customers.
