The purpose of this study was to find out more about the meaning of semiotic and the use of emoticon symbols and how students view the use of emoticon symbols on WhatsApp messenger. This study uses a qualitative method. To collect data and determine research subjects, the authors used a questionnaire and observation as research instruments. The results of this study prove that most students mean the meaning of each emoticon symbol on WhatsApp and often use emoticon symbols in chat activities on WhatsApp messenger. They often express feelings and expressions through the symbol emoticon. Two main points are discussed in this thesis. First, the semiotic meaning and use of emoticon symbols, and the second, students' views on the use of emoticon symbols on WhatsApp messenger.

This study aims to reveal the characteristics of Islamic organizational culture at University of Muhammadiyah Malang as an effort to improve employee performance. This study uses qualitative method by applying phenomenology approach. It is conducted by examining the experience realized by the informant (conscious experience) and the instruments of data collection are interviews, observation, and documentation so that researchers can obtain more complete data about the characteristics of Islamic organization culture at University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The research subjects are: (1) university board; (2) deans; (3) employees. Moreover, the qualitative data analysis techniques in this study uses 3 (three) analyzes, namely: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this study indicate that perceptions of Islamic organizational culture can be seen from the perception of university board, lecturers and employees on the value of leadership, norms and management practices, stories and figures, traditions and rituals, as well as perceptions on symbols. It can be concluded that the characteristics of Islamic organizational culture include: (1) Shiddiq (truthfulness) to achieve personal excellence that is honest, transparent, and accountable, (2) Amanah (trustworthiness) to achieve inter-personal capital that is unprejudiced and commitment, (3) Tabligh (advocacy) to achieve visionary and communicative leadership that is communicative and open, (4) Fathonah (wisdom) to achieve professionalism and technical leadership that is smart, competent, and innovative.

COVID-19 has been reported to be risen in numbers of infected cases and deaths. The massive report by media and social network which focus on the spreading and infection may affect not only physical health but also individual’s and general population’s mental health, isolation and stigma. To eradicate COVID-19-related stigma and discrimination perpetuated by both individual and group of people, WHO exhibits some anti-stigma campaign posters. This study employs qualitative method to acquire deep investigation of meaning and to involve the social context. Thus, by using Roland Barthes’s semiotic approach, analyzing signifiers and signifieds, this study was aimed to unmask both denotative and connotative meanings of the stigma embed within the six health campaign posters of COVID-19 by Southeast Asia WHO. The analysis was focused not only on the verbal sign of posters (linguistic text), but also its relation to their visual sign (imagery messages). From the analysis of the two sign systems of posters, the result shows that the six posters connote acts of discriminatory behaviours, stigmatization, stereotype and blaming. Through the posters, WHO propagates people to work together to fight COVID-19 and to bring out the best humanity, to have better awareness and positive attitudes and appeals governments, citizens, media, key influencers of communities to have a role in preventing and to stop stigma surrounding in South-Asia and specifically in Indonesia which becomes the target of the poster viewers during the pandemic. Those messages are connoted through different font colors and sizes and the illustration on each poster.

Creative children paintings are not only meant as children's freedom of expressing their creativity in processing shapes and media. Moreover, the paintings can be creativity to read gender representation. Those paintings can read perfect gender representation. In addition children paintings can be seen by how representation of gender structures is in the object of children paintings, chosen color, idea that is expressed by the children. Therefore, seeing the creative children paintings will be seen how close the gender structures is in the paintings. This research used qualitative method with semiotic analysis approach. Result of the research shows that creative children paintings are read by three components of object meaning procedure, color, and idea, each phase of children growth can explain how gender is reflected in discourse representation.

Internet-based learning that is carried out online has become very intense by teachers in Indonesia since the covid-19 pandemic, one of which is SD N Purbo 03. SD N Purbo 03 teachers as users of distance learning services have a very significant role in transferring knowledge, facilitate, and assist students in learning. So, before seeing further how the learning process through applications, it is very necessary to know in advance how the students view the current conditions and in particular the use of Zoom Meeting media as a media for distance learning. This study uses a qualitative method by presenting sources as research subjects. The results showed that online learning in class VI SD N Purbo 03 with Zoom Meeting was divided into three stages, namely the learning planning stage, learning implementation and evaluation. Students' views on online learning through Zoom Meetings based on student experiences show that Zoom Meeting gives a pleasant impression of learning because in the implementation of learning Zoom Meeting gives the impression of learning like in a school where students and teachers are connected to each other even though virtually, the successful implementation of Zoom Meeting as a learning medium can not be separated from the involvement of parents in monitoring the online learning process.

AbstractThe study entitled "The Meaning of Tempo Magazine Cover (Semiotic Analysis of Tempo Magazine Cover September 16-September 22 2019, entitled Promise Staying Promise)" aims to find out the meaning of the meaning of the magazine cover tempo "Promise Stay Promise" seen from the meaning of illustrations, texts and color on the magazine cover. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method with Roland Barthes's semiotic analysis approach, which examines signs through three stages of analysis namely denotation, connotation, mythology.The results of this study might reveal that the magazine cover of this edition shows the properties possessed by Mr. Jokowi as seen from the depiction of the face shape in the illustrations. The meaning of denotation, both the meaning of shadow, clothing and expression is illustrated, that the tempo magazine is a critical medium with the constitution and the spirit of democracy. While the connotation of the illustration is about the public's expectation of the revision of the KPK Law. As for the characteristics of President Jokowi's expression with his eyes closed and lips purely expressing something and his nose stretching out, that Mr. Jokowi is a liar. Furthermore, the mythological meaning found behind the illustration is a picture that contains assumptions about the unrelated Jokowi's promises and the President's responsibility towards the Revision of the KPK Law. Then in the headline and subheadline text and the black color in the nose's shadow, there is a provocation in it related to the ideology of the tempo magazine. The conclusion of this study, that the visual images contained in the magazine cover tempo "Promise Staying Promise" consisting of illustrations, text, and colors have a meaning contained therein. The purpose of this study is to describe the results of the results of the analysis of the ability to understand social science concepts in the material "economic activity" when using video learning with an online system in class IV.3 SDN Pakujajar CBM. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used were interviews and documentation. The writer acts as an instrument of data collection.Data analysis techniques used are according to Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing / verification. The research subjects used were grade IV.3 students in the 2019/2020 school year. The number of students is 25 people. The results showed that the ability to understand social science concepts in economic activity material, 7 students got the highest score, while 1 student got a grade less than KKM. All indicators can be mastered by students, but there are several categories, namely high to very high. The very high category can be combated as much as 96% in the exemplary indicator.

The purpose of this study is to describe the results of the analysis of the ability to understand cognitive mathematics in the material "angles" when using video learning with an online system in class IV B SDN Pintukisi Sukabumi City. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used were interviews and documentation. The writer acts as an instrument for collecting data. Data analysis techniques used are according to Miles and Huberman which consists of data reduction, data display, and Conclusion Drawing/Verification. The research subjects used were grade IV B students in the 2019/2020 school year. The number of students is 20 people. The results showed how to understand mathematics in the angles material, 2 students got the highest grades and 12 students got grades less than KKM.The results revealed that the cognitive understanding ability of students in class IV B based on the first indicator can be categorized high, the second indicator is categorized high, and the third indicator can be said to be very low.

The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of students to formulate questions in English. This research employed  descriptive qualitative method using simple analysis techniques based on grammatical and semantic analysis. Questions made by students are based on reading at the literal level or basic level. The research subjects involved 80 students in the Non-English Study Program in the second semester Management Study Program Lamongan Islamic University. The results of the study were obtained as follows (1). Students were able to formulate questions in English as many times, even if they do not meet the grammatical and semantic rules. (2). Students’ mistakes in formulating questions in English based on reading text including grammatical errors (60%) either errors in semantics or  meanings (40%); and (3). Students still use translating techniques in formulating questions so that the strong influence of the use of the first language (Indonesian) and the rules of writing in the Indonesian language can be obviously seen. Finally, it can be concluded that the students’ reading skill is at the lower cognitive level or at literal phase.

This study aims to determine the effect of the capitalization of sharia issues on economic movements in national and global markets and try to answer the problem formulation, namely: first, it can describe capitalization of sharia issues that are starting to develop in sharia economic movements in national and global markets. Second: can describe the process of negotiation (interaction) carried out by producers who use sharia issues in trade. Third: can find the implications of the meaning of the results of research and solutions that can add studies related to sharia issues in the economy in national and global markets so that it can be further investigated by subsequent researchers. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with descriptive analysis. Research subjects are informants who provide research data through interviews, surveys and documentation with triangulation data processing techniques to obtain valid research results. Adolescence is a period where the transition from childhood to adulthood, not only that they also do not form physical maturity (hacking) but will also lead to social-psychological maturity, among others, towards maturity and independence (Ruwaida, 2006 ) This study uses a qualitative method to describe stress management coping in adolescents as a result of parental divorce through a phenomenological approach which focuses on finding facts of human behavior based on the informant's perspective. Methods of collecting data through in-depth interviews and completed with field notes. The research subjects were teenagers whose parents divorced with the age limit (15-22 years) the number of subjects in this case study was 14 (fourteen) people in Ternate City. The behavior and culture of life of informants due to not being able to manage stress and accept family conditions, there is no visible achievement of the informants for regional economic development. very influential in regional development considering that the younger generation is the successor of the nation and state development. The results of this research indicate the condition of adolescents who experience problems such as this affect the development of development when viewed from the achievements that should be owned by the younger generation.
