The present study was designed to study the relation of parental rejection with self?esteem and life satisfaction. A total of 30 males and 30 females were selected purposively from Dhaka city. Correlation analysis indicated that paternal? and maternal rejection had significant negative correlation with selfesteem and life satisfaction. Adjusted R² of regression analysis indicated that parental rejection was the most important predictor which explained 70.4% of self?esteem and 25.6% variance of life satisfaction. Parental rejection greatly influence in offspring’s self?esteem and life satisfaction. Self?esteem is more influenced by parental rejection than life satisfaction. People with social anxiety demonstrate different behavioral aspects such as nervousness, apprehension, fear, and concern that negatively affect their personal traits and self-esteem. The current study is designed to identify the relationship between social anxiety and self-esteem among university students. To achieve this purpose, the descriptive correlation approach was utilized. Social anxiety and self-esteem scales were applied to a sample of 334 university students in Jordan. The study results revealed a low level of social anxiety and a high level of self-esteem among participants. In addition, there was a statistically significant negative correlation between the level of social anxiety and self-esteem among participants. The study recommended holding workshops and seminars for fresh students at the beginning of each academic year, to alleviate their feeling of stress and social anxiety and to raise the level of their self-esteem.

Over the past few decades, the role of self-views in life satisfaction has been extensively investigated. Recently, growing attention has been directed to the question of whether an optimistic worldview, termed “reward for application”, helps boost life satisfaction. Conceptually, the association between reward for application and life satisfaction can be paradoxical. Due to various methodological and theoretical shortfalls, previous investigations were unable to draw a robust conclusion on this association. To address these shortfalls, two cross-lagged panel studies were conducted with different time lags. Over and above the potential confounds of self-views (namely, self-esteem and self-rated personality traits), reward for application had a positive effect on lagged life satisfaction among both adolescents and young adults, while the reverse effect was not found. Moreover, we found support for the multiplicative effect between worldviews and self-views, in which the positive effect of reward for application on life satisfaction was attenuated by high self-esteem.

SummaryBy linear regression analysis, a highly significant negative correlation (r = −0·96) was found between the mean ash concentration values (g/100 g moisture) and water activity (aw) of six types of processed cheeses (low-fat, semi-fat, fat, extra-fat, double fat and special). The regression equation aw = 0·9951 − 0·0032* (ash), applied to 40 cheese samples, yielded aw values which differed by < 0·005 aw units from those measured experimentally in 75% of the samples. The maximum differences between the calculated and experimental aw values (found in only two samples) were ±0·01 aw units.

Abstract Aim The study was conducted to determine the correlation between infantile colic and maternal breastfeeding self-efficacy, breastfeeding success and breast milk amount. Materials and methods This descriptive study included 154 mothers, with infants of age between 3 weeks and 6 months who were diagnosed with infantile colic and who were admitted to the paediatric outpatient clinics of a hospital located in northern Turkey. Result A negative correlation was found between ‘parent–infant interaction + problem infant’ and ‘immature gastrointestinal system’ subscales of the Infantile Colic Scale (ICS) and the total mean scores of mothers on the Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy Scale. In addition, correlation analysis showed a statistically significant negative correlation between mean scores of mothers in breastfeeding success and subscale and total mean scores of ICS. Conclusion The breastfeeding self-efficacy and breastfeeding success is low in mothers of infants with infantile colic.

Subclinical psychopaths are those individuals who have most of psychopath’s traits but doesn’t indulge in serious antisocial behavior and thus rarely get imprisoned1. Psychopaths have been generally reported to be low on ethical behaviours. This study is an attempt to see if subclinical psychopaths too are low on moral aspects like clinical psychopaths. For this study data of 279 young adults in the age group of 18 to 25 years were collected from various colleges and universities of Punjab. Correlation analysis revealed that subclinical psychopathy is negatively related to moral identity internalisation, however, no relation was found with moral judgement and moral identity symbolisation. When the two group subclinical psychopath’s ad non-subclinical psychopaths were compared they were found to differ on moral identity internalisation. With regression analysis subclinical psychopathy was found to be a significant predictor of moral identity internalisation.

Social competence is the ability to achieve personal goals while maintaining positive relationships with others. In people with visual impairments, social competence is important for developing a positive self-concept, higher self-esteem, more assertive behaviour and acceptance of one’s own impairment. The aim of this research was to examine social competence, anti-social behaviour and their relationship in blind students (N=30) and sighted students (N=30), as well as relationships of these factors with student gender and age. Students were 12-17 years old. The assessment of social competence and anti-social behaviour was carried out using a scale for the assessment of social behaviour at school, namely the School Social Behaviour Scales (Merrell, 2002). The results showed greater social competence among sighted students, while expression of anti-social behaviour was similar in the two groups. In both groups of students, girls showed greater social competence and exhibited less anti-social behaviour than boys, but there were no differences in terms of age. A significant negative correlation between social competence and anti-social behaviour was observed in both groups. The results indicate the need for early identification and monitoring of possible difficulties, as well as the need to create and implement appropriate measures and interventions to prevent and improve such difficulties.

The goal of this study is to investigate the relation of self-esteem, hopelessness and communication skill; while testing self-esteem as an intermediary variable. The research, designed in survey model, has been conducted with preschool teacher candidates. The research group comprises 305 teacher candidates that volunteered for the research. According to the findings of the research, teacher candidates’ self-esteem is negatively correlated with their level of hopelessness and positively correlated with their communication skills. On the other hand, the relation between their level of hopelessness and communication skill is a negative correlation. According to the results of regression analysis, hopelessness, along with self-esteem, explain 31.6% of communication skill. Furthermore, another very important finding of the regression analysis is that teacher candidates’ self-esteem plays a complete intermediary role in the relation between their level of hopelessness and their communication skill. Implications of the findings are discussed in the light of the related literature. Keywords: Self-esteem, hopelessness, communication skills, preschool teacher candidates

The present research study focuses on the relationship between self-esteem and suicidal ideation among the students of senior secondary level. It was hypothesized that there will be no relation between Self-esteem and suicidal ideation. The sample for the study consisted of 120 students of different boards of Senior Secondary examination. Theage of the students ranged between 16 and 18 years. Suicidal Ideation Questionnaire developed by Reynolds (1988) and Self-esteem Scale developed by Rosenberg (1965) were used to measure the level of Suicidal Ideation and Self Esteem respectively. Results revealed that there was negative correlation between Self Esteem and Suicidal Ideation among students. Regression analysis indicated that Low self esteem leads to higher levels of suicidal ideation.

The relationships among self-esteem, self-efficacy, and faith in people in Chinese heroin abusers were investigated. We used 3 rating scales to survey a sample of 200 heroin abusers: the Self-esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965), the Self-efficacy Questionnaire for Chinese Drug Users (Geng & Han, 2008), and the Faith in People Scale (Rosenberg, 1956). A correlation analysis and a regression analysis were employed to analyze the data. The correlations among self-esteem, self-efficacy, and faith in people were significantly positive. Self-efficacy and faith in people results were found to be predictive of the self-esteem level of participants at a statistically significant level.
