Education is built in the environment in which the individual is inserted and through learning, values and beliefs are responsible for personal development. Among different educational contexts, environmental awareness can be considered as one of the bases for promotion in different family groups, and with that, it can improve the implementation of environmental practices in society. The study aimed to analyze the profile of different families of those participating in the environmental project, ASA sustainable school, located in the city of Caruaru-PE. For the development of the research, visits were carried out in the houses of the families and through the application of a quantitative questionnaire, the responsible person answered them. According to the analysis of the necessary information, 85% of adults attended school only until the end of elementary school, and 15% of the cases, those responsible attended to literacy. Regarding environmental awareness, 78.57% of the families are interested in environmental issues and already carry out practices aimed at sustainability, but above the intensification and incentives for a better performance of practices that are already commonplace.

The developed world for decades has been trying to achieve waste management that meets the requirements of sustainable production. It is very important to understand, analyse and predict the individual consumer behaviour, motivations, values and attitudes towards environmental consciousness. Consumers’ environmental awareness covers positive attitudes towards the environment supported by values and beliefs. The conclusion of the research is that in the area of environmental awareness Hungary is at the beginning of a long process and it cannot be predicted when will it reach the level of developed countries. A positive trend is that today’s young people, who represent the next generation, show more interest towards environmental awareness.

This article is part of the results of a research project whose objective was to formulate a strategy for environmental awareness for children and adolescents of the Fundación Niños de Los Andes (Children of the Andes Foundation) in the city of Manizales, Colombia. The methodological process was a quantitative and descriptive approach, using the survey as a tool for information gathering and the SPSS tool for systematization. A later discussion of the results was performed, and it determined the best way to approach the environmental education in children. The main conclusion was that the best strategy for acceptance of environmental education in children is to develop practical workshops that enable them to know, through real cases, environmental issues and ways of approach to prevent these issues, mitigate them, and control them.

We attempted to characterize different groups of environmental awareness and attitudes and to interpret the public’s diverse interests in the environment. Responses of a five-year public survey in South Korea were clustered by k-means algorithms into the following seven groups: environmentalists, dissatisfieds, inactivators, bystanders, honeybees, optimists, and moderates. The environmentalists, who were dissatisfied with the status of the environment, had a strong orientation toward pro-environmental attitudes and practices. The inactivators revealed a discrepancy between high orientation in pro-environmental perception and attitude and weak participation in pro-environmental practices. The optimists and dissatisfieds stood distinct against each other, while the former were satisfied with the status of the environment and the environmental protection efforts of government and enterprises, the latter were not. The honeybees, who were older than others, had little knowledge of the environment but engaged in more environmental protection practices; the younger bystanders were less interested in environmental issues and practices. The moderates gave average answers to the overall questions. Cluster analysis could help in understanding the complex landscape of the public’s environmental awareness and attitudes beyond a straightforward scale from anti- to pro-environment and support the establishment of environmental policy customized to the different groups.

AbstractThis study aimed to understand how the concern of environmental management is expressed by denim washing companies in the city of Caruaru-PE, based on the theoretical model proposed by González-Benito and González-Benito (2006), which recognizes the position of the organization with respect environmental management in a continuum between reactive and proactive. It is proposed to identify the factors that drive the development of environmental practices within the companies in that sector, analysing their position toward environmental issues. Based on the principles of exploratory qualitative research, a study of muliple cases methodology was applied, using a semi-structured interview instrument of data collection method. Two denim washing companies were  part of  the research, the first one was a company only of denim washing and the second was a company of denim washing and production, and the manager responsible for running each company was interviewied. The results showed that the factors presented with more relevance were those due the pressure from stakeholders, specially actions from the State and regulation offices, the organization's size and geographic location. Showing themselves as companies using economic rationality, searching reduction of costs as a compass to guide business strategies, and neglecting the use of environmental education and its applications in the business environment, the results point out to a reactive profile of management within the companies analysed.

ABSTRACT Environmental Education, which became Law in Brazil in 1999, seeks to reflect and raise awareness about social and environmental issues to transform students into "environmental citizens". Studies show that the level of environmental awareness of each individual is directly related to the degree of environmental perception and that this, directly reflects on the environmental behavior of the individual. For this reason, the present study aimed to evaluate the construction of the environmental perception of Brazilian university students. The research was carried out in 5 Brazilian universities with a total of 553 respondents, being three public universities and two private universities. For data analysis, the modeling of structural equations using the software SmartPLS 2.0 M3 was used. The result indicates that the environmental perception of the university has a focus on recycling, water and energy saving and reduction of consumption, apart from these issues, the constructs that formed the perception of the environment, were not effective for the formation of environmental awareness.   KEYWORDS: Environmental Education, Environmental Perception, Higher Education, Sustainability.     RESUMEN La Educación Ambiental, que se convirtió en Ley en Brasil en 1999, busca por medio de la reflexión y concientización sobre las cuestiones socioambientales transformar a los estudiantes en "ciudadanos ambientales". Abstract Caring for environmental protection through minimization of the food processing threats might turn out to be not only a complex process but it also demands a lot of expenditures. A survey carried out among small and medium-sized enterprises of the food industry in the Częstochowa region demonstrated that application of the best practices, which are environmentally friendly, is not common. It also showed that three fourth of the respondents do not implement formal environmental policies. The entrepreneurs participating in the survey exhibited a low level of environmental awareness, particularly in the area of involvement in ecological problems at the individual level.

The purpose and tasks of the work are to analyze the contemporary Ukrainian mass culture in terms of its value and humanistic components, as well as the importance of cultural studies and Ukrainian studies in educational disciplines for the formation of a holistic worldview of modern youth.Analysis of research and publications. Scientists repeatedly turned to the problems of the role of spirituality in the formation of society and its culture. This problem is highlighted in the publications by O. Losev, V. Lytvyn, D. Likhachev, S. Avierintsev, M. Zakovych, I. Stepanenko and E. Kostyshyn.Experts see the main negative impact of mass culture on the quality approach, which determines mass culture through the market, because mass culture, from our point of view, is everything that is sold and used in mass demand. One of the most interesting studies on this issue was the work by the representatives of Frankfurt School M. Horkheimer and T. Adorno «Dialectics of Enlightenment» (1947), devoted to a detailed analysis of mass culture. Propaganda at all socio-cultural levels in the form is similar in both totalitarian and democratic countries. It is connected, according to the authors, with the direction of European enlightenment. The tendency to unify people is a manifestation of the influence of mass culture, from cinema to pop. Mass culture is a phenomenon whose existence is associated with commerce (accumulation in any form – this is the main feature of education), in general, the fact that it exists in this form is related to the direction of the history of civilization.Modern mass culture, with its externally attractive and easily assimilated ideas and symbols, appealing to the trends of modern fashion, becomes a standard of prestigious consumption, does not require intense reflection, allows you to relax, distract, not teach, but entertains, preaches hedonism as the main spiritual value. And as a consequence, there are socio-cultural risks: an active rejection of other people, which leads to the formation of indifference; cruelty as a character trait; increase of violent and mercenary crime; increase in the number of alcohol and drug addicts; anti-patriotism; indifference to the values of the family and as a result of social orphanhood and prostitution. Conclusions, perspectives of research. Thus, we can conclude that modern Ukrainian education is predominantly formed by the values of mass culture. Namely, according to the «Dialectic» by Horkheimer and Adorno, «semi-enlightenment becomes an objective spirit» of our modern society. It is concluded that only high-quality education can create the opposite of the onset of mass culture and the destruction of spirituality in our society. It is proved that only by realizing the importance of cultivating disciplines in the educational process and the spiritual upbringing of the nation, through educational reforms, humanitarian knowledge will gradually return to student audiences.Formation of youth occurs under the influence of social environment, culture, education and self-education. The optimal combination of these factors determines both the process of socialization itself and how successful it will be. In this context, one can see the leading role of education and upbringing. It turns out that the main task of modern education is to spread its influence on the development of spiritual culture of the individual, which eventually becomes a solid foundation for the formation of the individual. Such a subject requires both philosophical and humanitarian approaches in further integrated interdisciplinary research, since the availability of such research will provide the theoretical foundation for truly modern educational and personal development.
