The article deals with the problem of intellectual and creative development of an individual in the educational process; it is paid attention to the peculiarities of organization of educational process, directed to formation of individual learning activity of a pupil.Intellectual and personal development of a pupil as a subject takes place in the process of formation of individual learning activity, which involves the pupils to possess as learning actions(goaldefinition, transformation, modeling, designing, control, assessment, correction) and meaningful actions (analysis, planning, reflection, generalization). For the implementation of individual learning activityit is also required general educational skills (writing, reading, counting, ability to work with a textbook, etc.). In other words, we can say that educational activity is an activity on self-change of own knowledge and skills, its result – those increments which occurred during its implementation in the intellectual self-development of the subject. The essence of these changes – to acquire by pupils new abilities in the process of mastering some other ways of actions with the system of scientific notionswhich the pupil learns. The formation of individual learning activity of pupils occurs only with properly organized training, which is based on such methodological provisions as training in zone of proximal development, activity forms of training, communicative collective-distributed type of learning activity; the leading role of theoretical knowledge in determining of learning activity content; focus of control and evaluation activities on the formation of reflective control and adequate self-assessment. In the system unity of these provisions communicative-activity approach performs integrative function. It provides formation of individual learning activity of pupils and, as a result, their intellectual and creative development.

The purpose and tasks of the work are to analyze the contemporary Ukrainian mass culture in terms of its value and humanistic components, as well as the importance of cultural studies and Ukrainian studies in educational disciplines for the formation of a holistic worldview of modern youth.Analysis of research and publications. Scientists repeatedly turned to the problems of the role of spirituality in the formation of society and its culture. This problem is highlighted in the publications by O. Losev, V. Lytvyn, D. Likhachev, S. Avierintsev, M. Zakovych, I. Stepanenko and E. Kostyshyn.Experts see the main negative impact of mass culture on the quality approach, which determines mass culture through the market, because mass culture, from our point of view, is everything that is sold and used in mass demand. One of the most interesting studies on this issue was the work by the representatives of Frankfurt School M. Horkheimer and T. Adorno «Dialectics of Enlightenment» (1947), devoted to a detailed analysis of mass culture. Propaganda at all socio-cultural levels in the form is similar in both totalitarian and democratic countries. It is connected, according to the authors, with the direction of European enlightenment. The tendency to unify people is a manifestation of the influence of mass culture, from cinema to pop. Mass culture is a phenomenon whose existence is associated with commerce (accumulation in any form – this is the main feature of education), in general, the fact that it exists in this form is related to the direction of the history of civilization.Modern mass culture, with its externally attractive and easily assimilated ideas and symbols, appealing to the trends of modern fashion, becomes a standard of prestigious consumption, does not require intense reflection, allows you to relax, distract, not teach, but entertains, preaches hedonism as the main spiritual value. And as a consequence, there are socio-cultural risks: an active rejection of other people, which leads to the formation of indifference; cruelty as a character trait; increase of violent and mercenary crime; increase in the number of alcohol and drug addicts; anti-patriotism; indifference to the values of the family and as a result of social orphanhood and prostitution. Conclusions, perspectives of research. Thus, we can conclude that modern Ukrainian education is predominantly formed by the values of mass culture. Namely, according to the «Dialectic» by Horkheimer and Adorno, «semi-enlightenment becomes an objective spirit» of our modern society. It is concluded that only high-quality education can create the opposite of the onset of mass culture and the destruction of spirituality in our society. It is proved that only by realizing the importance of cultivating disciplines in the educational process and the spiritual upbringing of the nation, through educational reforms, humanitarian knowledge will gradually return to student audiences.Formation of youth occurs under the influence of social environment, culture, education and self-education. The optimal combination of these factors determines both the process of socialization itself and how successful it will be. In this context, one can see the leading role of education and upbringing. It turns out that the main task of modern education is to spread its influence on the development of spiritual culture of the individual, which eventually becomes a solid foundation for the formation of the individual. Such a subject requires both philosophical and humanitarian approaches in further integrated interdisciplinary research, since the availability of such research will provide the theoretical foundation for truly modern educational and personal development.

The work considered a system of knowledge control of the Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University. It was shown that the quality of higher education depends mainly on the level of student training, the qualifications of teaching staff, the organization of the learning process, the efficiency of monitoring the quality of the education, and also factors allowing to improve the quality of education in the university. Assessment of the knowledge quality received by the students in the "Chemistry" discipline was carried out among the students of the Automobile Faculty of the KHNADU, entered the first year of the Bachelor of full-time education, during 2014/15–2018/19 academic years. The control was carried out with the help of traditional pedagogical practice types – the main (preliminary, final, and control of residual knowledge) and periodical (current and thematic knowledge tests). Statistical research on the performance of the main types of students' knowledge control, as more significant, shows that the important part of educational activity in university is an effective organization of its control. It was established that main principles of the control of students’ knowledge received during learning subject are the regularity and systematical conduct, the objectivity of assessment of the level of students' skills, the ability to identify the actual level of learning educational materials by the students, the timeliness of identification of the gaps in the learning process by the teacher and applying ways to overcome them. The internal and external factors affecting the performance of students during studying the "Chemistry" discipline have been distinguished. The internal factors are the knowledge level before entering the university and the motivation for learning the subject. The external are an organization of the educational process, self-organization of student learning activity, teaching methods and forms and professionalism of the educator, quality of additional services (holding consultations and individual lessons), educator-student relationship. It was identified that during studying the "Chemistry" discipline, the influence of the factors that students had before entering the university is weakened, and the external factors, which appeared in the process of studying in university, have a significant impact.

One of the newest principles of modern pedagogy is the humanization of education – the focus on personal development. The construction of personality-oriented methodological systems requires appropriate changes in the content of physical education and its methodological support. Today the high school functions as a profile. During distance learning, each student must gain some social experience, gaining in the process of achieving a common result by interacting with other members of the student body, develops communication skills. A huge advantage of this type of educational activity is the involvement of absolutely all students in the class. The main purpose of school education is the holistic development of the student's personality. The means of personal development that reveals its potential inner abilities is independent cognitive and mental activity. Thus, the teacher's task is to provide such activities, which are facilitated by modern interactive technologies. In this case, the student himself opens the way to knowledge. and the acquisition of knowledge is the result of his activities. To achieve maximum results, it is necessary to use methods that enhance the activities of students. Interactive teaching of physics allows to form their active-cognitive position, which meets the current educational needs of the modern educational process. Scientific and social progress is rapidly, radically changing the working conditions and content of the teacher. In this regard, there is a need to create such methodological systems that would meet not only the general goals and objectives of teaching physics, but would also have reasonable means to achieve the end results of learning and general physical education by students. Тhe peculiarity of the seminar is that it orients students to the manifestation of high cognitive activity in educational activities. The teacher at the seminar only manages the collective activities of students. Seminar training differs from the traditional one, which is characterized as a «teacher-student» interaction, it should involve mainly the «student-student» interaction (student both teaches and learns). It is very important that the seminars are not monotonous, that students are interested not only in the issues under consideration, but also the forms of their discussion, methods of work in the classroom, making them interesting and dynamic. This can be achieved by using in practice various types of seminars and increasing the level of active cognitive activity of students. The techniques that promote the development of active independent actions of the student in the classroom include the creation of such situations in which he must be able to: defend their opinion, provide arguments, evidence, using their knowledge and life experience; ask questions to teachers and peers, find out the unclear; review answers; help classmates with complications, explain to them the incomprehensible; independently perform tasks designed for reading literature, observation, etc.; find not one but several independent solutions; practice free choice of tasks, mainly exploratory and creative; be interested in collective activities and promote the creative search for peers.

The education system at the university at the present stage is being created in the context of reforming education and other areas of activity that are closely related to the development processes of civil society. In todays’ Russia, the educational system that developed during the Soviet period has essentially lost its influence, and in accordance with the new challenges of the time, a different system for organizing the educational process is being formed. When teaching bachelors of technical sciences, it is possible and necessary to take into account the educational potential of technical disciplines in the complex process of a future engineering and technical worker personality forming. The methodological basis of the study is the psychological and pedagogical theory and practice of creating a system of educational activity when teaching engineering disciplines at a university with the aim of forming the personality of a competitive specialist in engineering and technology and reflecting the requirements of educational and professional standards for the training of experts in engineering profiles. The purpose of this article is to determine professionally important qualities and professionally significant psycho-physiological properties, based on theoretical analysis and study practical experience in teaching geometric graphic disciplines at a university, which students can form in the learning process for personal development and successful mastering of the profession in accordance with professional standards and the realities of industrial and technical sphere. Graphic culture has an impact on the worldview and moral values of the individual, forms aesthetic tastes, contributes to the formation of a civic position and responsibility. Educational activities at the university should be implemented not only in sports, leisure and entertainment events, but the most important aspects of personal education in learning technical disciplines are the formation of cognitive independence, strong-willed personality, emotional, behavioral, intellectual flexibility, which are the key qualifications of the future engineer. The results can be used in the teaching of graphic disciplines in technical universities.

The article presents the author's approach to the interpretation of the concept of the educational environment of the school, based on the activity theory of A. N. Leontyev and on learning activity theory of D. B. Elkonin – V. V. Davydov. Significant features of two types of educational environments – the developing educational environment and the environment based on traditional educational content – are highlighted. A broad diagnostic research into the indicators of cognitive, social and personal development of students of these two types of educational environments was carried out. The study involved 2,304 students in the 5th and 9th grades from 24 schools. To assess cognitive development, data from two tests is used: CFT2 and the “Transposition” method (author A. Z. Zak). An original diagnostic procedure has been developed to distinguish the role of factors of biological maturation and the educational environment of a particular school in the process of cognitive development of students. Several sources were used to diagnose the social aspects of student development. This is a sociometric test, analysis of interactions in the system “students-teacher,” recorded in the course of observation at the lesson (based on the author's “scheme of lesson analysis” – authors I. M. Ulanovskaya, N. I. Polivanova, E. V. Vysotskaya) and content analysis of children's essays on the topic “My school.” Indicators of personal development of students were determined by the scale “self-assessment and level of aspiration” test and the test of school anxiety (A. Prihodjan). All data was subjected to statistical and qualitative analysis. The results obtained showed a high efficiency of the developing educational environment in the cognitive development of students. This is an expected result, since the programs used in developing educational environment are aimed at developing theoretical thinking based on the development of special educational content and appropriate forms of organization of the learning process. Our results showed that educational environment developing qualitatively changes the sociometric structure of the class, making it more psychologically comfortable for students, increases cognitive motivation and reduces educational anxiety, makes self-assessment and level of aspiration more differentiated.

The construction of the zone of proximal development (ZPD) in the context of teaching activity is discussed in the paper.ZPD is compared and contrasted with the concept of scaffolding as introduced by Jerome Bruner. In the context of its potential for operationalisation in the form of teacher activities, the author examines key ZPD content given by Lev Vygotsky in terms of the complex interaction of spontaneous (everyday) concepts formed prior to the beginning of school education with scientific (theoretical) concepts formed during schooling. Vygotsky’s main idea about the leading role of scientific concepts in the restructuring of previously formed spontaneous concepts, as well as in the development of the child’s holistic thinking, leads to the conclusion that it is possible also to directly influence the spontaneous formation concepts change through the organisation of collectively distributed forms of educational activity and in a polylogue based the Socratic method. The leading psychological processes, which ensure the development of spontaneous concepts through their greater generalisation and awareness, comprise the processes of exteriorisation of spontaneous concepts, reflection and subsequent interiorisation of a collectively constructed concept. Therefore, the activities of teaching in constructing a ZPD include providing conditions for the distribution of individual operations in the course of a joint learning action and facilitating a polylogue to ensure the effective functioning of these psychological processes in the course of specifically organised learning activities.

As students are highly influenced in the learning process by their emotions, they also need a proper time for self-reflection. This paper aims to present the main insights of business students in the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Romania when challenged to set their personal development plans, after reflecting on their own strengths and weaknesses observed especially through JOHARI window used in class and three self-assessment questionnaires—drivers (working styles), career anchors and Belbin (team roles). Building personal development plans is an important step in the educational process. Although not taken at its real value because of the young age of the students, it is an activity that should be considered each semester, very well linked to the management discipline and to the career development of students/future graduates. Keywords: Students, personal development plans, motivation, educational process.
