Numerical analysis, especially the finite volume method (FVM), is one of the primary approaches employed when evaluating a building environment. A complicated geometry can degrade the mesh quality, leading to numerical diffusions and errors. Thus, this study develops and evaluates an automatic building geometry simplification method based on integrating similar surfaces for the geometry of an indoor space. A regression model showed that the complexity of the simplified geometry and its similarity to the original geometry decreased linearly with the threshold of the method. The mesh quality was significantly improved by the simplification. In particular, the maximum skewness decreased exponentially with the threshold of the method. It is expected that the simplification method and regression model presented in this study can be used to quantitatively control the mesh quality.

In this paper, the linear regression model using ANN and the linear regression model using MS Excel were developed to estimate the physico-chemical concentrations in groundwater using pH, EC, TDS, TH, HCO3 as input parameters and Ca, Mg and K as output parameters. A comparison was made which indicated that ANN model had the better ability to estimate the physic-chemical concentrations in groundwater. An analytical survey along with simulation based tests for finding the climatic change and its effect on agriculture and water bodies in Angul-Talcher area is done. The various seasonal parameters such as pH, BOD, COD, TDS,TSS along with heavy elements like Pb, Cd, Zn, Cu, Fe, Mn concentration in water resources has been analyzed. For past 30 years rainfall data has been analyzed and water quality index values has been studied to find normal and abnormal quality of water resources and matlab based simulation has been done for performance analysis. All results has been analyzed and it is found that the condition is stable.

Quick-frozen oat dumplings were produced by adding some Oat flour in dumpling wrapper. The effect of oat flour ratio on the optimal amount of water of the bland flour, cracking ratio and edible quality of quick-frozen oat dumpling were researched. The optimal amount of water of per gram Xiang Man Yuan dumpling flour and oat flour are 0.43g and 0.63g individually. The cracking ratio of products increases with the increases of oat flour ratio. The effect of oat flour ratio on the sensory evaluation and the outward appearance score of quick-frozen oat dumplings is very significant in 1‰ level, their correlation coefficient are 0.990 and 0.994 respectively, and the regression model equations are as follows: Y=90.094-112.477X; Y=18.519-21.763X.

To study the velocity and pressure distribution of the oil film in a heavy hydrostatic thrust bearing, a mathematical model of the velocity is proposed and the finite volume method (FVM) has been used to simulate the flow field under different working conditions. Some pressure experiments were carried out and the results verified the correctness of the simulation. It is concluded that the pressure distribution varies small under different rotation speed when the surface load on the workbench is constant. But the velocity of the oil film is influenced greatly by the rotation speed. When the rotation speed of the workbench is as quick as enough, the velocity of the oil film on one radial side of the pad will be zero, that is to say the lubrication oil will be drained from the other three sides of the recess.

Caries is a dental disease caused by bacterial infection. If the cause of the caries is detected early, the treatment will be relatively easy, which in turn prevents caries from spreading. The current common procedure of dentists is to first perform radiographic examination on the patient and mark the lesions manually. However, the work of judging lesions and markings requires professional experience and is very time-consuming and repetitive. Taking advantage of the rapid development of artificial intelligence imaging research and technical methods will help dentists make accurate markings and improve medical treatments. It can also shorten the judgment time of professionals. In addition to the use of Gaussian high-pass filter and Otsu’s threshold image enhancement technology, this research solves the problem that the original cutting technology cannot extract certain single teeth, and it proposes a caries and lesions area analysis model based on convolutional neural networks (CNN), which can identify caries and restorations from the bitewing images. Moreover, it provides dentists with more accurate objective judgment data to achieve the purpose of automatic diagnosis and treatment planning as a technology for assisting precision medicine. A standardized database established following a defined set of steps is also proposed in this study. There are three main steps to generate the image of a single tooth from a bitewing image, which can increase the accuracy of the analysis model. The steps include (1) preprocessing of the dental image to obtain a high-quality binarization, (2) a dental image cropping procedure to obtain individually separated tooth samples, and (3) a dental image masking step which masks the fine broken teeth from the sample and enhances the quality of the training. Among the current four common neural networks, namely, AlexNet, GoogleNet, Vgg19, and ResNet50, experimental results show that the proposed AlexNet model in this study for restoration and caries judgments has an accuracy as high as 95.56% and 90.30%, respectively. These are promising results that lead to the possibility of developing an automatic judgment method of bitewing film.

AbstractThe qualities of injection-molded parts are affected by process parameters. Warpage and volume shrinkage are two typical defects. Moreover, insufficient or excessively large clamping force also affects the quality of parts and the cost of the process. An experiment based on the orthogonal design was conducted to minimize the above defects. Moldflow software was used to simulate the injection process of each experiment. The entropy weight was used to determine the weight of each index, the comprehensive evaluation value was calculated, and multi-objective optimization was transformed into single-objective optimization. A regression model was established by the random forest (RF) algorithm. To further illustrate the reliability and accuracy of the model, back-propagation neural network and kriging models were taken as comparative algorithms. The results showed that the error of RF was the smallest and its performance was the best. Finally, genetic algorithm was used to search for the minimum of the regression model established by RF. The optimal parameters were found to improve the quality of plastic parts and reduce the energy consumption. The plastic parts manufactured by the optimal process parameters showed good quality and met the requirements of production.

Thermal spallation is a possible drilling technique which consists of using hot supersonic jets as heat source to perforate hard rocks at high rates. This work presents a numerical analysis of a typical spallation drilling configuration, by the finite volume method. The time-averaged conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy are solved to determine the turbulent compressible gas phase flow field. Turbulence is predicted by the classical high Reynolds number κ-ε model, as well as with a low Reynolds number κ-ε model. The influence of the jet Reynolds number is investigated. Special attention is given to the rock surface temperature, since its accurate determination is required to predict spallation rates under field-drilling conditions.

Based on an Engineering Example which was supported by the stepped soil-nail wall, a numerical analysis model was established by FLAC3D,and the process of the excavation and supporting was simulated, and the numerical results of the soil nails internal force and foundation pit deformation were obtained. The simulated result was consistent with the measured results. It shows that the method of FLAC3D numerical analysis can be used to the numerical analysis of foundation pit excavation and supporting, and it will provide the basis for the design and construction of practice project.
