This study sought to discover whether and how biological parameters can predict leadership behavior in the following leadership-related tasks: a face-to-face negotiation (Study 1), an individual problem-solving case (Study 2), and a group-based problem-solving case (Study 3). We replicated previous work by Mehta, Mor, Yap and Prasad in testing the dual-hormone hypothesis related to testosterone increase and cortisol decrease (Study 1), but our findings do not provide evidence to support the dual-hormone hypothesis. In Study 2, we found that high openness was a significant predictor in the individual problem-solving case. The results from Study 3 indicated that higher openness was related to a better score on the group exercise. Our findings did not support the dual-hormone model, and we did not find support for the seller-specific effect reported in Mehta et al. The original study included 64 participants with complete hormone data, while our replicational study involved 114 participants with complete hormone data.

This research is based on the reality of the high leadership achievements of the participants of the Supervisory Leadership Training (PKP) of the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of DKI Jakarta Province in 2020 and the length of change in one's leadership. This study aims to describe the servant leadership behavior of the alumni of Supervisory Leadership Training. This research departs from the perspective that leadership behavior is formed through social processes. The theory used as an analytical tool and to explain the leadership behavior of PKP alumni is the theory of social practice from Pierre Bourdieu. According to this theory, leadership behavior depends on the habitus, capital and arena of leaders. This qualitative research categorized as a case study was conducted on 19 purposively selected PKP alumni informants of the 2nd generation. Data were collected by written interview and analyzed by ideal type approach. Field findings show that the leadership behavior of alumni varies depending on the habitus formed, the capital they have and the arena that surrounds them. In conclusion, the informants have behaviors that are in accordance with the characteristics of servant leadership. Informants have a new leadership habitus and a confirmed habitus of the existing leadership practice. The informants also have a variety of capital in the form of social, cultural, economic and symbolic capital. Finally, there are two kinds of arenas owned by the informants, namely the arena of the Official Responsible for Technical Activities (PPTK) and the arena of the Budget User Authority (KPA). As a recommendation, this research is continued with a phenomenological approach to dig deeper into leadership serving the informants.

As the practice of e-learning continues to proliferate, online educators, especially in the computing disciplines, are facing special challenges. This chapter represents an effort in moving the existing problem-based learning (PBL) paradigm to e-learning through the use of screencasts. In the form of an empirical case study, the chapter provides empirical evidence and indicative support for the successful application and evaluation of PBL methods in a highly technical computing course that has traditionally been taught in a face-to-face setting. This chapter makes a unique contribution to the e-learning research with respect to the applicability of PBL methods in the online environment and the exciting possibilities for screencasting as an instructional technology. It also offers implications for creating e-learning courses that can prepare students to develop lifelong problem solving skills and become more motivated and responsible learners in today’s networked society.

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the digital transformation era and the evolution from mentoring to e-mentoring. One of the groups most affected by this situation is the mentees doing graduate studies. In this context, e-mentoring enables the mentee and mentor to carry out their academic study using digital technologies in mutual interaction, regardless of time and geographical space. This study is designed as a case study of the qualitative research methods where the study group consists of graduate students. Five main themes and 14 sub-themes are determined from the interviews with mentees on e-mentoring perceptions. According to the research findings, mentees prefer a two-stage approach in mentee-mentor matching. Mentees emphasize that they favor matching with emerging technologies at the first stage and finalizing the mentor selection process by mentee-mentor face-to-face negotiation in the second stage. Mentees also mention that besides some e-mentoring advantages, there are psycho-social benefits of face-to-face mentoring.

In writing this paper the author discusses the Implementation Pattern of Supervision and Guiding Prisoners During the Assimilation Program at Home. It is motivated that the Parole Officer also has an important role in providing supervision and guidance to correctional clients who get assimilation programs at home. To carry out their duties and functions as supervisors and mentors, it is not uncommon for Parole Officer to experience a variety of external and internal obstacles. The purpose of the research conducted is to describe and analyze how the pattern of guidance and supervision carried out by the Parole Officer. In writing this paper the method of approach used is sociological juridical means a study conducted on the real state of society or the environment of the community with the intent and purpose of finding facts which then leads to identification and ultimately to the resolution of problems. Then the data obtained were analyzed in a descriptive quantitative manner, namely the problem solving procedure by describing the data that had been obtained. The results of research conducted that the way of guidance carried out by the Parole Officer is the interview method using the Whastsapp video call to minimize face-to-face activities. Whereas the guidance provided by Parole Officer Bapas Kelas II Pati is to use the individual guidance and group guidance methods In carrying out the guidance program, there are several factors from clients that are the cause of repeating the criminal acts again, namely economic factors and narcotics dependency factors. Efforts are being made to overcome this problem, namely: by immediately revoking the assimilation program at home and put it into a straft cell according to Permenkumham No. 10 of 2020.

With increasing global competition, expediting the problem solving process has become crucial in the industry. Techniques such as Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) and Axiomatic Design (AD) have been widely applied for this purpose. TRIZ and AD are very powerful tools with different but complementary strengths. A previously proposed synergistic approach based on TRIZ and AD enhances the individual strengths of these methods by using them within a common framework, thus providing a more powerful methodology for problem solving. In this paper, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the synergistic approach through a manufacturing related case-study. Considering the importance of validation of engineering models, a validation method for the synergistic approach is discussed based on review of design engineering validation literature.

Abstract. This study aims to find out how the process of selecting content in video making, challenges in the transliteration process from audio to sign language and communication patterns in disseminating to the target public of the videos which form of Indonesian songs lipsync using sign language uploaded via @aulion Instagram account. Using qualitative approach to the case study method and the concept of symbolic interactionism by George Herbert Mead. The result of this research indicate that the content selection process begins with the thought process where the whole social (society) precedes the individual mind, then the process of adjusting behavior as a form of understanding and interpreting the process, and the process of selecting songs as educa-tional media for sign language. The researcher divides the challenge of transliteration process into two types, namely internal and external challenges. Communication patterns used include the use of social media and direct (face-to-face) social interaction. The conclusion that can be taken is that the process of transliteration activities is preceded by social conditions in the community that give rise to the process of thinking to someone, where the aspects of mind, self, and society are related to one another as explained by George Herbert Mead in the concept of symbolic interac-tionism. However, these activities will be better if done regularly to maintain the interest of the community to learn sign language Abstrak.

Nowadays, the value chain financing (AVCF) is considered as an effective agricultural financing approach in the world, however, its prevalence is still limited in developing countries, like Viet Nam. This paper analyses the financial gap between the demands and the actual credit obtained of the Seng Cu (SC) rice chain participants in Lao Cai. Cross-sectional data were collected from 160 face-to-face interviews with SC rice producers and from in-depth interviews with 31 other stakeholders involved in the chain (demand-side) and the representatives of district-branch banks (supply-side) in 2016 - 2017. Overall, almost chain actors had high financial demands, especially upland rice producers and the leading chain actor (TPC). However, they faced many credit constraints related to the strict risk-avoidance strategy and the collateral requirement of banks. Even the SC rice chain confirmed its high potential and many supportive linkages among them developed, the decision-making of banks on credit disbursements still depends on the individual capability of each chain actors, not the entire chain.  Thus, the recommendations for policymakers, producers, and agribusiness are suggested to enhance the financial sources going in the chain and the effectiveness of chain actors in the locality.
