- The paper introduces theory-oriented evaluation, a set of approaches that argue for a stronger role of theory in evaluation. Theory-oriented evaluation criticizes mainstream objectives-inputs-outputs evaluation for poor contribution to knowledge cumulation due according to these authors - to the overwhelming role played by method. The paper develops a comparison between the two most influential approaches in theory-oriented evaluation, i.e. Carol Weiss' theory-based evaluation and its concepts of program theory and implementation theory, and realistic evaluation by Ray Pawson and Nick Tilley, based on the concepts of context, mechanism and outcome. For each of them principal features and problems will be discussed; moreover, a strict comparison will be worked out to define similarities and differences.Key words: theory-based evaluation, realistic evaluation, mechanism, context, implementation, perfect and bounded rationalityParole chiave: valutazione basata sulla teoria, valutazione realistica, meccanismo, contesto, implementazione, razionalitŕ assoluta e limitata

The article addresses the main principles and methods of linguistic and cultural approach to reconstructing communicative stereotypes. The author shows the role of philosophical comparative studies in building a conceptual model of communicative stereotype, which makes it possible to define the content of cultural analysis in cross-cultural communication. The article proves the necessity to test their relevance in reference to historical facts in international relations. Studying the concept of ‘a border of constructive dialogues’, the author develops the idea further, introducing the term ‘a zone of transfer to irreversible destructiveness’.

One of the main aims set in this article is assessing «Munisnama» by Abubakr Ibn Khosrov as a source. Another aim is proving irreplaceable place of this work, assessed as an informative source, in the study of religious philosophical Tariqa literature. For that purpose «Munisnama» should be researched alongside with one of the significant works written in higiograhpy literary genre. The work meant for comparison is fundamental hagiographic treatise «Kashf al-Mahcub», one of the essential and leading works in Manqaba Literature (Higiographical Literature) by Ali Ibn Osman al-Jullabi al-Hucwiri. As a result of this comparison the part of Munisnama including just two chapters was discovered to be of great significance. It was dicovered that the saints, sheiks, tariqa (religious way) leaders, presented by Abubakr in the 2 chapters, were very important in religious philisophical movement Tasawwuf (mysticism). The comparative research enabled us to discover the irreplaceable role of «Munisnama» in the study of Tariqa and Mangaba Literature. As a matter of fact the material comprised of just two chapters can be on a par with other individual works for its content capacity. The study and research of these two chapters will still serve as a source for learning about more saint people and exploring many sources. From this poin of view Munisnama will still be studied and researched. Key words: Abubakr Ibn Khosrov, Ali Ibn Osman al Jullabi al Hucwiri, «Munisnama», «Kashf-al Mahjub» (The Revelation of the Veiled), Tariqa (Religious and spiritual path), Mangaba (Higiography-literary genre), Sufism

Since learning a language naturally entails the understanding of a cultural context in which it is used (Kramsch, 1993), it goes without saying that cultural awareness will be best acquired when students immerse themselves in the country of the target culture (Istanto, 2008). The role of the teacher in nurturing cultural understanding is to “take on the role of culture educator and deliberately assist students with their process of cultural analysis.” (Istanto, 2009: 280) One of the ways to teach culture has definitely been to ask students to watch films of the target culture. This paper deals with the classroom experiment of teaching “Trainspotting”. The students were divided into two groups with the task of presenting and interpreting different aspects of the film for the sake of enhancing classroom communication, as well as introducing prevalent concerns of contemporary Scottish society.  The first (linguistic) group had to report on the usage of the authentic Scots in the film with a special attention to its title – to investigate the root and meaning of the word “trainspotting”, and the second (cultural) group had quite a demanding task to discuss the issues of urban Scottish youth culture. Though dealing with rather controversial themes, the practical case of teaching Trainspotting, based primarily on the interactive and communicative way of learning, verily illustrates “how film can be used in an innovative way for teaching the target language and culture” (Istanto, 2008:290).

Abstract: This article investigates the action of anarchists to the revolutionary situations that emerged in Europe from the October Revolution in Russia until 1923, and their reaction to the failure of anarchist revolutionary practice. It focuses on Russia, Spain and Italy to show the similarities and differences in the anarchist critique of the failure of anarchists to guide the social unrest into a successful revolutionary outcome. Rather than simply looking at the role of their opponents this critique centers on aspects of anarchist praxis and tactics which some anarchists argued needed to be revised in light of experience.     Key words: Anarchism, Russian Revolution, anarcosyndicalism, Triennio Bolchevique, Bienno Rosso

The article studies the linguocultural aspect of the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic neologisms. The similarities and differences between the English and Russian vocabulary of the coronavirus pandemic, generated by the specifics of the cultural code of intercultural communication participants, are analyzed. The relevance of the study is ensured by the continuous expansion of the coronavirus pandemic vocabulary, the permanent interest of linguists in the most popular part of the neological discourse of the English and Russian languages, the need for a scientific interpretation of collective experience reflected in the coronavirus pandemic vocabulary. The objective of the article is a linguistic and cultural analysis of the English and Russian coronavirus pandemic vocabulary to identify the peculiarities of the mindset of these neologisms’ creators in the definitions and contextual field of the given examples. The story of Lot is one of many shared by the Qur'an and the Torah, and Lot's offer of his two daughters to his people is presented in a similar way in the two books. This article compares the status of Lot in the Qur'an and Torah, and explores the moral dimensions of his character, and what scholars of the two religions make of this story. The significance of the episodes in which Lot offers his daughters to his people lies in the similarities and differences of the accounts given in the two books and the fact that, in both the past and the present, this story has presented moral problems and criticism has been leveled at Lot. Context is crucial in understanding this story, and exploration of the ways in which Lot and his people are presented is also useful in terms of comparative studies of the two scriptures. This article is divided into three sections: the first explores the depiction of Lot in the two texts, the second explores his moral limitations, and the third discusses the interpretations of various exegetes and scholars of the two books. Although there are similarities between the Qur'anic and Talmudic accounts of this episode, it is read differently by scholars from the two religions because of the different contexts of the respective accounts.

In clinical dental consultations in multilingual contexts, medical interpreting is often performed by the supporting staff as part of routine triadic formulations. As academic dentistry becomes increasingly internationalised, issues of language and culture add to the interactional complexity of clinical communication and education. A multivariate approach was adopted to investigate one case of multilingualism in dentistry in Asia. Collection of both survey (n=86) and interactional data provided empirical evidence regarding language use and language demands across integrated Polyclinics. Descriptive statistics of Dental Surgery Assistant (DSA) perception data and conversation analysis (CA) of mediated interpretation indicate that, as members of the oral healthcare team, DSAs in Hong Kong are an essential resource in their role of intercultural mediators between patients and clinicians, both staff and students. Discussion of sociolinguistic notions of place-as-location and place-as-meaning supports a wider conceptualisation of the role of support staff as interpreters in clinical settings. Implications are drawn for policy, curriculum and staff development.
