Introduction: When ensuring preparedness of constituent entities of the Russian Federation to take anti-epidemic measures in order to respond to imported infections, including the novel coronavirus disease, appropriate training of healthcare workers, specialists of bodies and institutions of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) and non-medical specialists was important. The objective of our work was to improve methodological support of inter-agency collaboration in implementing activities on sanitary protection of the territories at border patrol checkpoints. Materials and methods: We analyzed reports on interdepartmental drills at Russian border patrol highway checkpoints, including those conducted within the preparation for 2018 FIFA World Cup, and regulations on the aspects of interdepartmental drills at international border crossing points. Results: We assessed completeness of implementation, organizational structure, content, and methodological aspects of interdepartmental cooperation in the course of drills at highway checkpoints and proposed a unified approach to conducting training with account for realities of checkpoint functioning and requirements for ensuring biological safety. The article provides recommendations for conducting drills on anti-epidemic measures to be taken when identifying a suspected case of a highly hazardous communicable disease at border patrol checkpoints.

The purpose of the study was to improve the methodological support of interdepartmental cooperation in implementing measures for sanitary protection of territories at railway border crossings. Materials and methods. We analyzed interagency personnel training at railway border checkpoints during preparation for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup and reports on the planned annual training in some regions of the Russian Federation to assess their compliance with modern requirements for ensuring biological safety. Results. Based on the results of analyzing the content and methodological aspects of anti-epidemic measures and interdepartmental cooperation during drills at railway border crossings, we updated the training methodology taking into account the requirements of international and Russian regulations governing the procedures at checkpoints and current conditions and capabilities of services when ensuring biological safety. The article provides recommendations for personnel training and drills at railway border crossings on the topic “Organization of anti-epidemic measures upon identification of a suspected case of an especially dangerous communicable disease”.

The emergence of the novel Coronavirus Disease in 2019 (COVID-19) in Wuhan, China, and the subsequent global threat, resulting in the current pandemic in over 215 countries, characterized by alarming morbidity, mortality, and social effects in affected humans, as well as an economic downturn due to national and international border closures used as a containment strategy, necessitated this study to assess the opinions of the public on the potential vaccination against COVID-19. This research primarily aims to provide policy makers with useful information on public perceptions of the disease, as well as public knowledge and preparedness for its prevention and eventual eradication. Two hundred (200) organized open-ended questionnaires were distributed at random across the six (6) Area Councils in Abuja, Nigeria. The responses were subjected to the Pearson Chi-Square Test at a CI of 95 % and a level of significance of 5%. Of the 1200 respondents sampled, 976 (81.3%) were willing to be immunized if vaccines were available. However, 5 (0.4%) respondents expressed indifference, while 219 (18.3%) respondents did not support the use of COVID-19 vaccine for a variety of reasons, including a lack of confidence in the vaccine, belief in God for COVID-19 virus safety, and fear and dislike of injectable drugs. Thus, showing a vaccine response that was significantly affected by religion, marital status and education (P<0.05). According to the results of the current study, respondents believe the novel Coronavirus has the potential to cause varying degrees of damage, eventually leading to death. However, their response revealed that vaccine acceptance could be hampered by distrust and other apprehensions. As a result, vaccinations must be implemented strategically and with enough publicity for the intent of enlightenment, empowering citizens to adopt the established intervention mechanism.

AbstractData on the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in children are limited, and studies from Europe are scarce. We analyzed the clinical severity and epidemiologic aspects of COVID-19 in consecutive children aged 0–18 years, referred with a suspicion of COVID-19 between February 1, and April 15, 2020. RT-PCR on a nasopharyngeal swab was used to confirm COVID-19. 319 children met the criteria of a suspected case. COVID-19 was diagnosed in 15/319 (4.7%) patients (8 male; mean age 10.5 years). All of them had household contact with an infected relative. Five (33.3%) patients were asymptomatic. In 9/15 (60.0%) children, the course of the disease was mild, and in 1/15 (6.7%), it was moderate, with the following symptoms: fever (46.7%), cough (40%), diarrhea (20%), vomiting (13.3%), rhinitis (6.7%), and shortness of breath (6.7%). In the COVID-19-negative patients, other infections were confirmed, including influenza in 32/319 (10%). The clinical course of COVID-19 and influenza differed significantly based on the clinical presentation. In conclusion, the clinical course of COVID-19 in children is usually mild or asymptomatic. In children suspected of having COVID-19, other infections should not be overlooked. The main risk factor for COVID-19 in children is household contact with an infected relative.

In a year of challenges from the novel coronavirus, the new Queensland Human Rights Act was applied in unexpected ways. Its new complaints process was particularly tested by hotel quarantine restrictions. Nonetheless, geographic and demographic differences between Queensland and other human rights jurisdictions are also emerging as especially relevant to how human rights protection will be applied in the state, particularly a new Australian right to health and the cultural rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

According to the World Health Organisation, until 16 June, 2020, the number of confirmed and notified cases of COVID-19 has already exceeded 7.9 million with approximately 434 thousand deaths worldwide. This research aimed to find repurposing antagonists, that may inhibit the activity of the main protease (Mpro) of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, as well as partially modulate the ACE2 receptors largely found in lung cells, and reduce viral replication by inhibiting Nsp12 RNA polymerase. Docking molecular simulations were performed among a total of 60 structures, most of all, published in the literature against the novel coronavirus. The theoretical results indicated that, in comparative terms, paritaprevir, ivermectin, ledipasvir, and simeprevir, are among the most theoretical promising drugs in remission of symptoms from the disease. Furthermore, also corroborate indinavir to the high modulation in viral receptors. The second group of promising drugs includes remdesivir and azithromycin. The repurposing drugs HCQ and chloroquine were not effective in comparative terms to other drugs, as monotherapies, against SARS-CoV-2 infection.

SARS-COV2 virus causes Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and represents the causative agent of a potentially fatal disease that is of great global public health concern. The novel coronavirus (2019) was discovered in 2019 in Wuhan, the market of the wet animal, China with viral pneumonia cases and is life-threatening. Today, WHO announces COVID-19 outbreak as a pandemic. COVID-19 is likely to be zoonotic. It is transmitted from bats as intermediary animals to human. Also, the virus is transmitted from human to human who is in close contact with others. The computerized tomographic chest scan is usually abnormal even in those with no symptoms or mild disease. Treatment is nearly supportive; the role of antiviral agents is yet to be established. The SARS-COV2 virus spreads faster than its two ancestors, the SARS-CoV and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV), but has lower fatality. In this article, we aimed to summarize the transmission, symptoms, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, and vaccine to control the spread of this fatal disease.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a communicable infection caused by the novel coronavirus resulting in severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV). It was recognized to be a health crisis for the general population of international concern on 30th January 2020 and conceded as a pandemic on 11th March 2020. India is taking various measures to fight this invisible enemy by adopting different strategies and policies. To stop the COVID-19 from spreading, the Home Affairs Ministry and the health ministry, of India, has issued the nCoV 19 guidelines on travel. Screening for COVID-19 by asking questions about any symptoms, recent travel history, and exposure. India has been trying to get testing kits available. The government of India has enforced various laws like the social distancing, Janata curfew, strict lockdowns, screening door to door to control the spread of novel coronavirus. In this pandemic, innovative medical treatments are being explored, and a proper vaccine is being hunted to deal with the situation. Infection control measures are necessary to prevent the virus from further spreading and to help control the current situation. Thus, this review illustrates and explains the criteria provided by the government of India to the awareness of the public to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In December 2019, a unique coronavirus infection, SARS-CoV-2, was first identified in the province of Wuhan in China. Since then, it spread rapidly all over the world and has been responsible for a large number of morbidity and mortality among humans. According to a latest study, Diabetes mellitus, heart diseases, Hypertension etc. are being considered important risk factors for the development of this infection and is also associated with unfavorable outcomes in these patients. There is little evidence concerning the trail back of these patients possibly because of a small number of participants and people who experienced primary composite outcomes (such as admission in the ICU, usage of machine-driven ventilation or even fatality of these patients). Until now, there are no academic findings that have proven independent prognostic value of diabetes on death in the novel Coronavirus patients. However, there are several conjectures linking Diabetes with the impact as well as progression of COVID-19 in these patients. The aim of this review is to acknowledge about the association amongst Diabetes and the novel Coronavirus and the result of the infection in such patients.

This booklet is a collection of the position statements accepted for the HRI’20 conference workshop “Social Cognition for HRI: Exploring the relationship between mindreading and social attunement in human-robot interaction” (Wykowska, Perez-Osorio &amp; Kopp, 2020). Unfortunately, due to the rapid unfolding of the novel coronavirus at the beginning of the present year, the conference and consequently our workshop, were canceled. On the light of these events, we decided to put together the positions statements accepted for the workshop. The contributions collected in these pages highlight the role of attribution of mental states to artificial agents in human-robot interaction, and precisely the quality and presence of social attunement mechanisms that are known to make human interaction smooth, efficient, and robust. These papers also accentuate the importance of the multidisciplinary approach to advance the understanding of the factors and the consequences of social interactions with artificial agents.

Affective polarization is a defining feature of 21st century American politics—partisans harbor considerable dislike and distrust of those from the other party. Does this animus have consequences for citizens’ opinions? Such effects would highlight not only the consequences of polarization, but also shed new light onto how citizens form preferences more generally. Normally, this question is intractable, but the outbreak of the novel coronavirus allows us to answer it. We find that affective polarization powerfully shapes citizens’ attitudes about the pandemic, as well as the actions they have taken in response to it. However, these effects are conditional on the local severity of the outbreak, as the effects decline in areas with high caseloads—threat vitiates partisan reasoning. Our results clarify that closing the divide on important issues requires not just policy discourse but also attempts to reduce inter-partisan hostility.
