Foreign language anxiety (FLA) has a debilitating influence on the oral performance of EFL speakers. Over the past decade, most research in MALL has emphasized the use of mobile applications on improving language skills, but little research has explored the impact of using video recording tool to decrease foreign language speaking anxiety (FLSA). Hence, this study examines the effect of using video recording tool on students' EFL speaking anxiety. Twenty-eight pre-intermediate freshmen at Van Lang University, Vietnam, participated in a seven-week project. In this research, mixed method was used in combination with three data collection instruments: questionnaire, observation notes, semi-structured interview. The results indicated that video recording tool significantly lowers EFL speaking anxiety. Therefore, this study makes a major contribution to research on FLA by exploring freshmen's anxiety causes and its impacts on learners' oral performance and offering a technique to help them overcome that phobia: mobile phone video recording.

Abstract This paper describes the design of a testing environment for massive assessment of assignments for Android application programming courses. Specific testing methods and tool suggestions are continuously consulted with Wirecard company, dedicated to the development of mobile applications. The paper also analyzes the most common mistakes of students and suggests ways to uncover them through tests. Based on these, it creates tests, compares the performance of the emulator and real device tests, and the proposed tools are partially retrospectively tested on assignments from the previous run of a particular Android application programming course. From partial results the paper suggests changes for the course in relation to the testing environment and deploys it in the background of the course alongside the manual evaluation. It describes testing experience, analyzes the results and suggests changes for the future

Over the last decade, retailers and manufacturers alike are increasing their attention to the role of instore mobile technology use with the aim to understand its impact on consumers’ decision making process. The rise of the mobile channel, in fact, has produced disruptive changes in shopping habits designed to gradually reduce the effectiveness of in-store marketing levers in influencing shopping behaviour. This topic is of paramount importance in grocery sector since retailers and manufacturers devote a lot of investments in instore marketing activities with the aim to influence consumers’ decisions and stimulate impulse purchases. Nevertheless, there are few contributions about the influence of the mobile technology in a retail setting and its effects on buying behavior inside the store. Our research intends to explore the impact of in-store mobile technology use on shopper behavior instore in order to understand its effects on planned versus unplanned purchases. According to our preliminary results, consumers using mobile technology instore make less unplanned items and fail to purchase more planned items. Moreover, the use of mobile technology negatively impacts shoppers’ ability to recall in-store stimuli. Our findings are interesting for both retailers and manufacturers who are looking for new ways to better address their marketing efforts and increase consumers’ engagement instore.

PurposeCorporate social responsibility (CSR) is a prominent topic of debate, and yet remains subject to multiple interpretations. Despite this ambiguity, organisations need to communicate their CSR activity effectively in order to meet varied stakeholder demands, increase financial performance and in order to achieve legitimacy in the eyes of clients and various stakeholders. The purpose of this paper is to explore how CSR is communicated, and the impact such communication methods have on CSR practice. More specifically, it examines the disconnect between the rhetoric espoused in CSR reports and the actualities of the ways in which CSR is practiced.Design/methodology/approachA qualitative content analysis of 100 CSR reports published by nine construction contractors informed the design of qualitative interviews. In total, 17 interviews were then conducted with contractors and public body clients.FindingsStrategic ambiguity explains how contractors circumvent the problem of attending to conflicting stakeholder CSR needs. However, this results in a paradox where CSR is simultaneously sustained as a corporate metric and driver, whilst being simultaneously undermined in being seen as a rhetorical device. By examining this phenomenon through the lens of legitimacy, the study reveals how both the paradox and subsequent actions of clients that this provokes, act to restrict the development of CSR practice.Originality/valueThis is the first study to use the lens of legitimacy theory to analyse the relationship between CSR reporting and CSR practice in the construction industry. In revealing the CSR paradox and its ramifications the research provides a novel explanation of the lack of common understandings and manifestations of CSR within the construction sector.

Gas is one of the needs that is widely used by the community. The use of gas is very much beneficial, for example, such as the use of gas in households and the use of gas in business or industry. However, there are things we must pay attention to when using gas in terms of safety. Because gas is volatile and there is a possibility of gas leakage which can cause a fire hazard. Therefore to reduce the impact of hazards that can be caused due to gas leakage, a gas leak detection device needs to be made using the MQ5 sensor and the status of the hazard level will be displayed through the android application. So that the existence of this tool will make it easier for users to know the level of gas levels and the level of danger of gas leaks. In this system there are 3 (three) levels of danger, namely safe, normal, and dangerous. If the gas level is high and in danger status, the system will provide information on the android application in the form of gas levels, danger levels and alarms. The use of Fuzzy methods in this system can be applied to explore knowledge and decision making, so that the Fuzzy method is applied to be expected to help in calculating the level of danger of gas leakage effectively and safely to use. In designing this system, the author uses the Fuzzy algorithm with the Mamdani method so that it can facilitate obtaining maximum results in determining the level of danger. From the resulting output can be information about the dangers of gas leakage.
