This research aims to determine the extent which the effectiveness of the addition of turmeric powder (Curcuma Roxb xhantorriza) and a ginger and white (Curcuma zedoria Rosc) in commercial rations on carcass percentage, amdominal fat, and the percentage ol liver in bloiler. The material used is old broiler 3 weeks as much as 53 tails. The design used was a completely randomized design with 6 treatments 3 replications. The treatmens were applied as follows: R0 = basic ration without ginger, and ginger and white, R1 = base + 2% ration ginger rhizome flour, R2 = base + 2% ration rhizome ginger and white flour. The result sho wed that the edition of flour and ginger rhizome of ginger and white flour in the ration was not significantly different (p > 0,05) on carcass percentage, abdominal fat, liver percentage. It can be concluded that the addition of ginger rhizome flour and white flour as much as 2% in the commercial ration still give the same response to the carcass percentage, abdominal, and the percentage of liver. ABSTRACT ADDITION TURMERIC, GINGER RHIZOME AND WHITE RHIZOME OF COMMERCIAL RATION ON QUAILS’ PERFORMANCES. This study aims to determie the effectiveness of the addition of Turmeric powder (Curcuma domestica Val), Javanese ginger powder (Curcuma xanthorriza Roxb) and White turmeric powder (Curcuma zedoaria Rosc) in a commercial ration towardsthe performance of quail. The material used were 120 female quails 6 weeks of age. We used the Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were applied as follows : R0 = basic ration without turmeric, Javanese ginger, and white turmeric powder, R1 = base + 2% ration turmeric powder, R2 = base + 2% ration Javanese ginger powder, R3 = base + 2% ration of Javanese ginger and white turmeric powder. The results showed that the addition of turmeric powder, Javanese ginger powder and white turmeric powder in the ration was not significantly different (P > 0.05) on the performance of quails (feed consumption, egg production and feed conversion). We conclude that the addition of turmeric powder, Javanese ginger powder, and white turmeric powder as much as 2% in commercial rations didn’t raise the feedconsumption, egg production, and surpresses the feed conversion. UTILIZATION OF ENSILAGE KEPOK BANANA PEELS REPLACING PART OF CORN IN THE DIET ON CARCASSES AND VISCERA INDICES OF BROILER. The purpose of the present research was to determine the substitution of corn with ensilage kepok banana peels (Musa paradisiaca formatypica) in the diet on  carcasses and viscera indices of broiler. Trial was arranged using an experimental study. Sixty unsexed Cobb day old Chicks (DOC) were used in a Completely Randomized Design arrangement, with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Treatments were formulated as follow: R0 = 50% yellow corn + 0% ensilage kepok banana peels, R1 = 42,5% yellow corn + 7,5% ensilage kepok banana peels, R2 = 35% yellow corn + 15% ensilage kepok banana peels, R3 = 27,5% yellow corn + 22.5% ensilage kepok banana peels. Parameters measured were: carcass weight (g), abdominal fat (%), liver weight (%), and gizzard weight (%). Research results showed that, the subtitution of yellow corn with ensilage kepok banana peels gave a significant different (P<0,05) effect on carcass weight, abdominal fat percentage, liver weight percentage, and gizzard weight percentage. The higher the ensilage kepok banana peels replacing corn in the diets, the lower the carcass weight and abdominal fat percentage, whereas liver weight percentage and gizzard weight percentage both decreased as the subtitution of ensilage kepok   banana    peels   increased.  Carcass percentage was the only parameter that was not affected (P>0,05) by treatments. It can be concluded that the utilization of ensilage kepok banana peels up to 30% or 15% can still substitute yellow corn in broiler diets.   Keywords : Broiler, Kepok Banana Peels, Carcasses, Viscera

CARCASS PERCENTAGE AND ABDOMINAL FAT OF BROILER CHICKEN CONSUMING DIETS PARTLY REPLACED WITH FRESHMULBERRY (Morus alba) LEAVES. An experiment was conducted to elaborate carcass percentage and abdominal fat of broiler chicken consuming diets partly replaced with fresh Mulberry (Morus alba) leaves. The present study was conducted for 3 weeks using 60 day old chicks (DOC) CP 707 broiler chicks. Birds were placed in battery cages and were assigned to each dietary treatment (4 treatments) which was replicated five times in a completely randomized design (CRD) arrangement and data were all submitted to the ANOVA procedure.Treatment diets were formulated as follow: R0 = basal diet + 0% fresh Mulberry leaves; R1 = 98% basal diet + 2.0% fresh Mulberry leaves; R2= 96.0% basal diet + 4.0% fresh Mulberry leaves; and R3 = 94.0% basal diet + 6.0% fresh Mulberry leaves. Variables measured were carcass percentage and abdominal fat. Research results showed that treatments gave a non-significant different (P>0.05) on carcass percentage; where as treatments significantly (P<0,05) affected abdominal fat. R0 (basal diet + 0% fresh Mulberry leaves) gave a significantly (P < 0.05) higher abdominal fat compared with R1, R2, and R3 treatments; while among R1, R2, and R3 treatments gave a non-significant difference on abdominal fat indices. It can be concluded that fresh Mulberry (Morus alba) leaves can be used up to 6.0% as a replacement of basal diet of broiler chicken in this study. This study was conducted to evaluate the carcass percentage and abdominal fat of broiler chicken with added feed additive pegagan (Centella aciatica) powder on ration. This experiment was done at poultry farm and laboratory of Animal Husbandry Programme, Payakumbuh Agricultural Polytechnic from July to December 2018. The experiment was run in completely randomized design which consist of 4 feed treatments and 5 replications. Level used of A = without pegagan powder; B = 1.5% pegagan powder; C = 3% pegagan powder dan D = 4.5% pegagan powder. The collected data was analyzed with ANOVA and Duncan Range test would use for post hoc multiple comparison. The result shown that body weight was significantly different (P &lt; 0.05), carcass percentage and abdominal fat were no significantly different (P &gt; 0.05). Body weight of broiler chicken was higher on level D = 4.5% pegagan powder. The additive compounds in pegagan as feed additive stimulated immunity of broiler chicken until provide better body weight but unaffected on carcass percentage and abdominal fat.

Abstract This research was conducted to study the effects of cat whiskers leave juice (Orthosiphon stamineus Benth) (OLJ) on the dressing percentage, giblet, and abdominal fat of broiler chicken. The research used 100 chicks which were reared for five weeks. At the end of the fifth week, 40 chickens were slaughtered as samples. The diets consisted of a commercial ration with 2900 kcal.kg−1 metabolizable energy and 22% protein. The drinking water consisted of different levels of OLJ (0, 10, 20, 30 mL/L). A Completely Randomized Design was used in this research with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Dressing percentage, liver, heart, gizzard, and abdominal fat were observed. The data were analysed by Analysis of variance/ANOVA. The result showed that OLJ significantly (P<0.01) affected live bird’s weight, but not significantly different (P>0.05) for dressing percentage, giblet, and abdominal fat of broiler chicken. On broiler chicken, administration of 10 mL/L OLJ significantly (P<0.01) decreased the live bird’s weight compared to control (0 mL/L OLJ). However, drinking 20 mL/L and 30mL/L cat whiskers juice were not significantly different. The conclusion is that the broiler chicken could tolerate up to 30 mL/L cat whiskers leaves juice.

THE INFLUENCE OF THE USE OF BANANA HUMP SHOES (Musa paradisiaca L) IN RATION ON THE PERCENTAGE OF CARCASS AND ABDOMINAL FAT IN BROILER CHICKEN. This study aims to determine the extent of the effect of using banana hump shoes (Musa Paradisiaca) in rations on carcass and abdominal fat in broiler chickens. This study was conducted using 100 unsexed Cobb broiler chickens (PT. Charoen Pokhpand), with an average body weight of 837 grams. The design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. Arrangement of the experimental treatment as follows: R₀= 55% corn + 0% banana hump shoes, R₁= 50% corn + 5% banana hump shoes, R₂= 45% corn + 10% banana hump shoes, R₃= 40% corn + 15% banana hump shoes. The results showed that there was no significant difference (P>0,05) on the percentage of carcass and abdominal fat in broiler chickens. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that the use of banana shoe hump in rations up to 15% produces a good percentage of carcass and abdominal fat. Keywords: broiler chicken, banana hump shoes, percentage of carcass and abdominal fat.

Abstract. This research aimed to know the effect of seaweed meal at broiler chicken rations to fat level and cholesterol. This research using an experimental with Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treathments and 6 replications. Each treatment had 5 chickens test, so a total of 120 chickens test. The treatments given of the ration treatment without seaweed meal as control, ration with seaweed meal 3%, ration with seaweed meal 5%, ration with seaweed meal 7%. The parameters growth of broilers was the body weight chickens test did every week, carcass percentage, thorax percentage and abdominal fat percentage did at the end of experiment were after broiler 42 days. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance and continued with Duncan test α 0,05 use SPSS program version 13.0. The results showed that treatment with seaweed meal significantly decreased to body weight, but had not affected to carcass percentage, thorax percentage and abdominal fat percentage, for the analysis materials on meat fat level and cholesterol apparently treatment using seaweed meal 7% can lower meat fat level, and cholesterol.Keyword: seaweed meal, broiler chickens, fat, cholesterol.

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan kulit nanas fermentasi ke dalam ransum yang mengandung gulma berkhasiat obat terhadap konsumsi nutrient ayam broiler. Penelitian ini menggunakan DOC jantan strain cob umur 2 hari sebanyak 200 ekor yang dipelihara selama 42 hari. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. P0 = 0% tepung kulit nanas fermentasi (TKNF) dalam ransum mengandung 0% gulma obat(GO), (kontrol positif), P1 = 0% TKNF dalam ransum mengandung 2 % gulma obat (GO),(kontrol negatif), P2 = 7.5% TKNF dalam ransum mengandung 2 % gulma berkhasiat obat, P3 = 15% TKNF dalam ransum mengandung 2 % gulma berkhasiat obat, P4 = 22.5% TKNF dalam ransum mengandung 2 % gulma berkhasiat obat. Parameter yang diamati kandungan gizi kulit nanas sebelum dan sesudah fermentasi dan konsumsi nutrient. Pengaruh yang nyata terhadap parameter yang diamati dilanjutkan dengan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan, Data yang diperoleh dari setiap parameter dianalisis ragam (ANOVA) menggunakan bantuan software SPSS 16.0. Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan kulit nanas yang fermentasi dengan yoghurt dalam ransum yang mengandung gulma berkhasiat obat pada taraf 15% memberikan hasil terbaik pada konsumsi nutrient ayam broiler. (Fermented pineapple peel supplementation with addition of medicinal weeds on nutrient intake consumption of broiler chicken) ABSTRACT. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of using fermented pineapple peel in the ration containing medicinal weeds on nutrient consumption and performance of broiler . Two hundred 2 days male broiler chicken cob strain were used in this study and kept for 42 days. Completely randomized design (CRD)was applied with 5 treatments and 5 replicates. Treatments consisted of P0 = 0% of fermented pineapple peels meal (FPPM) in ration containing 0% medicinal weed (MW), positive control). P1 = 0% of fermented pineapple peels meal (FPPM) in the ration containing 2 % medicinal weed (MW), negative control). P2 = 7.5% of FPPM in the ration containing 2 % medicinal weed (MW). P3 = 15% of FPPM in the ration containing 2 % medicinal weed (MW). P4 = 22,5% of FPPM in the ration containing 2 % medicinal weed (MW). The parameters measured was nutrien intake before and after fermented peel and consumption. The observed data were analyzed by statistical product and service solution (SPSS 16.0). Results showed that use of fermented pineapple peel meal up to 15% with addition medicinal weeds was the best on nutrient consumption of broiler chicken.

Blood profile and organ weights of broilers fed variously processed Mucuna seed meal were investigated.A total of 120 day old broiler chickens were used. There were 4 treatments each replicated into 3 with 10 birds per replicate in a completely randomized design(CRD). Four treatment diets were formulated.Diet1served as control containing raw Mucuna, whilediets 2, 3, and 4 had boiled Mucuna, Mucuna boiled with ankanwu and boiled Mucuna mix with enzyme, respectively added to them. The birds were allowed 7 days to get stabilized before being randomly assigned to the experimental diets that lasted for 49 days. There were no significant (P>0.05) differences in the organ weights except for intestine, spleen and lungs. The value of the intestine ranged from 4.30% (D4) to 5.20% (D2). D4 was significantly ((P<0.05) lower than D2 butcompared favourably with D1 (4.51)and D3 (4.62). Significant ((P<0.05) differences existed only in haemoglobin and mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration (MCHC). The MCHC values ranged from 30.67 in D4 to 34.69% in D2. The value for D4 was significantly (P<0.05) lower than those of D1, D2, and D3 which was not significantly (P>0.05) different. The Hb and MCHC were significantly (P<0.05) affected by the processing of MSS. Total protein, albumin, urea, creatinine, globulin and alkaline phosphatase were significantly (P<0.05) affected by the processing method employed in conclusion it is observed that 5% inclusion of Mucuna either raw or processed to broiler chicken diets does, does not have any deleterious effect on them health wise since blood and organs characteristics are used to measure the health status of animal.

Study was carried out to assess supplemental effects of dietary reduced ubiquinol (rCoQ10) on lipid profile and serum antioxidant activity in broiler chicks fed diets with three energy levels. 270 broiler chicks divided into nine groups (3 energy levels x 3 levels of rCoQ10) with three replicates. Birds were fed with basal energy (BE), low energy (BE-100 (kcal)) and high energy (BE+100 (kcal.kg-1) feed) and rCoQ10 at 0, 20 and 40ppm. Broiler chicks were distributed in completely randomized design and reared for 42d and at end of study, serum and muscle samples were collected for antioxidant activities, lipid contents. The activity of superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, reduced glutathione, vitamin E were increased and serum malonaldehyde, total, LDL-cholesterol as well as muscle cholesterol were reduced by intake of rCoQ10. The consumption of rCoQ10 improved muscle oxidative stability than the control. Ubiquinol at 20ppm favourably altered lipid profile with reduced lipid peroxidation and improved serum antioxidants activities.
