Self-confidence is a very important aspect of our lives. Everyone is different from one another, each has a unique character attached to him. From that difference, it can be seen that there are people who are confident, but there are also people who lack confidence. Because with us lacking in confidence, we will miss the opportunities that exist in this life, such as work. Self-confidence also makes a person nervous, anxious, difficult to interact socially and unable to find self-concept. From the above, as if self-confidence is the root of life because it determines the thoughts and activities that we will do everyday. Self-confidence is influenced by internal factors and external factors. External factors are family environment, friend environment and work. A person's confidence and character influences all aspects of a person's life, such as finance, work, social life and others. Internal factors of lack of confidence are self-concept, self-esteem, and life experience. Confidence (confidence) determines how a person will judge and respect him personally. Self-confidence is a belief in the ability of yourself to achieve something and can accept self-deficiencies so that these deficiencies become a strength in us. Whereas according to Hurlocks, Confidence (self-confidence) is an attitude in someone who can / can accept reality, develop self-awareness, think positively, have independence, & have the ability to have everything that is desired. To develop self-confidence, we need to improve self concept, ability and social interaction. AbstrakKepercayaan diri merupakan aspek yang sangat penting dalam kehidupan kita. ABSTRACT Objective: To know the experiences of family members of children with cystic fibrosis under the light of the theory of Callista Roy. Method: Qualitative research that used the adaptation theoretical framework of Callista Roy for inductive content analysis. Fifteen family members, in a university hospital, between 23 and 63 years old, participated in the study, from September to October 2018. Results: Two categories were elaborated: “Evaluation of stimuli” and “Evaluation of behaviors”. The first has three subcategories: “focal”, “contextual” and “residual”. And the second, four subcategories: “physiological domain”, “self-concept”, “role function” and “interdependence”. Final Considerations: During the evaluation of stimuli, work overload and stress were identified as focal stimuli. Regarding contextual stimuli, it was noticed that the social life of caregivers was prejudiced. As for residual stimuli, the fear of loss is constant, and it appears that the emotional aspect of family members is the most affected comparing with physical exhaustion.

This study aims to explain how the linguistic elements of Arabic language reflects the social life of its users or society. This qualitative research relies on Arabic words and sentences as the main data taken from literatures and other written documents. The collected data are analysed qualitatively using a sociolinguistic approach to explain how the society use the Arabic words or sentences in their social interaction. The research reveals that Arabic language is one of the international languageswhich has the highest content of gender sexism among other languages in the world. Each Arabic word and sentence contain a gender identity (masculine and feminine). The Arabic or sentences that have a masculine identity are strong, strong, primary needs, and independent; whereas, the Arabic words or sentences that have a feminine identity are more likely to have the characteristics of cleanliness, health, secondary needs, and dependent. It can be concluded that the mastery of Arabic language requires not only the understanding of its words and sentences, but also its users’ social life where the Arabic Language grows and develops. In other words, the use of Arabic language cannot be separated from the ideology, culture and social life of its users.

Based on Eccles’ (1987) model of academic achievement-related decisions, we tested whether women, who are engaged in mathematical fields at university, have internalized, to some extent, the stereotype about women’s inferiority in math. The results indicate that men and women do not assess their ability self-concept, subjective value of math, or performance expectancies differently. However, women’s degree of stereotype endorsement has a negative impact on their ability self-concept and their performance expectancies, but does not affect their value of the math domain. Moreover, members of both genders envisage stereotypical careers after university graduation.

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic has seen the implementation of unprecedented social distancing measures, restricting social interaction and with it the possibility for conducting face-to-face qualitative research. This paper provides lessons from a series of qualitative research projects that were adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure their continuation and completion. By reflecting on our experiences and discussing the opportunities and challenges presented by crises to the use of a number of qualitative research methods, we provide a series of insights and lessons for proactively building resilience into the qualitative research process. We show that reflexivity, responsiveness, adaptability, and flexibility ensured continuity in the research projects and highlighted distinct advantages to using digital methods, providing lessons beyond the COVID-19 context. The paper concludes with reflections on research resilience and adaptation during crises.

This article aims to introduce the value of grassroots archives at the Center for Data and Research on Contemporary Social Life (CDRCSL) at Fudan University for qualitative research in social sciences and humanities. This special collection includes written materials on various aspects of social life that are left outside the official archive system. We first introduce the types and features of the grassroots archives collection and then briefly review the values of these primary sources, illustrated by two examples. We conclude with brief discussion on some case studies based on the primary data from the CDRCSL collection and our reflection on the tension between the protection of subject privacy and preservation of historical truth.
